Healthy training in the jungle
Thu Jan 09, 2014 10:17 pm
Maku began working to once again get his physical toughness up. He had the chakra powers, but he knew that his physical body still lacked toughness. This was of course nothing new, and now that he had developed new jutsu and chakra control he knew it was time to revisit this style of training. Maku hadn’t had much time or experience in this department and though he had found a sensei he wasn’t able to really get a lot of training from him. Just a couple of sparring sessions. However now he knew he had to develop his skin to be hard as the rock that was his affinity so that he might survive in real fights. Genjutsu was fine and all, but if he couldn’t take a hit when it came time then what was the point. Maku had his rock lobster to defend him sure, but even he could be beaten and Maku had to be able to relay on himself above all others, because in a fight the only thing that was certain is that his own life would be on the line. Finishing his breakfast and preparing for another training mission from hell Maku began to mentally prepare himself for what was to come. No doubt it would be a fruitful day as his training exercises always did.
Sitting in his apartment, Maku started his day by meditating. Focusing on the days ahead he sat cross-legged with hands together. In this position he focused on his breathing and relaxation. Trying to remove the tension from his body, as that would only get in the way as the training went on. He let his mind wander across the village into the jungle, through waterfalls and into lands he has never been. Using his imagination he looked out into the world. While meditating he didn’t use any chakra, this exercise was purely from his body, no other means. This was a very good method to get himself ready. He would be enduring a lot of pain and strain over the course of the next few days and he needed to be able to maintain inner peace whenever possible. Letting out a deep breath he stood and walked out his door. Now that he was in the zone, he was ready to begin training. Maku walked to the jungle as that was the best place to train in the waterfall country. Maku wasn’t even for sure what to do yet, but mainting his inner peace he knew that inspiration would come in time.
While walking Maku observed many things. How the sun reflected off the buildings and the ground and how the birds played beautiful music in the trees. The day was going to be long and tedious but it was fine, Mau was prepared. By entering the jungle he took up a position and prepared himself for. To start with he went on a light jog to get the juices flowing. This was a rather dull start but everything had to start somewhere. Once this was complete he stretched and prepared for the next stage of his training. Maku would do a variety of different body weight exercises to get the rest of his strength going. This would eat up some time but would also get his body to be stronger and harder. All of this was just to warm up though of course. He needed to do something extreme to really get stronger. What that was he still wasn’t sure. He made his way deeper and deeper into the jungle, he felt like there was something he was meant to do in this jungle on this day however he still couldn’t figure it out. After walking he thought he would meditate some more.
Taking a position on a log, Maku closed his eyes and felt the world around them. He tried to calm himself and wash his chakra over his body. He was no medical nin but it was still comforting to feel the flow of chakra. Maku couldn’t help but feel like he felt something out in the jungle. Maku wasn’t sure what it was, but no doubt he needed to investigate. Opening his eyes, Maku stood up and stretched out. Continuing into the jungle he waited to see if he could find what he was looking for. Nothing could be seen so far. Because of his Maku sent out some earth spikes to smash into trees. Perhaps it was a physical force in the jungle and by making a ruckus he would bring it out. Even after all this he didn’t see anything. Maku continued deeper into the jungle perhaps soon he would find what he was looking for. His earth spikes were fast now, but weren’t particularly penetrating. This was unfortunate but not having a lot of skill with ninjutsu it was the best he could do. They were sharp enough to hurt him, but against a stronger opponent the most they could do was maybe set up defense or piss them off into making a mistake.
Maku had never been this deep into the jungle before and a feeling of dread was seemingly descending upon him. It was an odd feeling, for a shinobi who had lived his life in this area. Moving through the forest he eventually discovered a clearing that had some old ruins on it. Walking to them he began to explore, and see what he could find. There was writing on many of the buildings but Maku was unable to really discern what was written there. All he knew was that the feeling of dread was increasing, and this was the focal point. Checking his surroundings he didn’t see any intruders. He sent spikes into dark corners. Nothing yelped or ran out so he was certain he was alone. Or at least alone from ordinary foes. Continuing to explore he found an old dusty book. He attempted to read the book but nothing was legible, at least to his eyes. There were pictures in the book, that seemed to show someone performing jutsu, though he still couldn’t tell what they were doing. By the illustrations they might even be genjutsu. This intrigued Maku as they could be new useful techniques. He could only hope they would increase his power.
Maku gave up with the book and returned to training his body. By moving rocks and channeling earth spikes he worked on making his body as hard as stone. No matter how hard he trained he couldn’t shake the feeling that something was out there. By keeping himself active though he tried to just ignore it. Once he had a good amount of work under his belt, he went back to an old exercise that he had done once before. He would summon earth spikes put of the ground to come right at him, and then would work on absorbing the impact and dodging them. This wasn’t to difficult as he had done it several times over. After this was completed he went back to the ruins and rested. Feeling tired he fell asleep while resting on a pedestal. He didn’t know that what he felt was a spirit that was about to attack him. It was going to be an interesting dream he was about to have. But perhaps by fighting it out he would gain some strength. The dream would start suddenly. He would enter a nightmare, to fight it out. Perhaps this was the new inspiration he needed.
Waking all around him Maku saw the obliteration of the waterfall village. The spirit took the form in front of him as his father. It spoke to him, “This is the fate of your village, nothing can stop it, not you or your leader. To long has your village been weak, and now you suffer for your weakness.” When the spirit quit speaking, it began to tear at Maku’s body. Maku was unable to fight back. In his dream he was to weak and none of his jutsu worked. It was agonizing, he was ripped apart by his father over and over again. Maku couldn’t break free. He cried and screamed, but he couldn’t get out. Relentlessly he was attacked. Maku struggled and struggled but couldn’t break free. Finally he was so exhausted that he simply submitted to the pain. After a brief moment of discomfort he sat back up as if from a dream. The spirit still stood infront of him but wasn’t attacking. The spirit of his father stated “now you have seen the idea of a jutsu I never could finish or master until my death. It will take your opponent no matter how strong and seal them in a nightmare. The harder they fight the worse it will be. You can master what I couldn’t.” The spirit said.
Maku felt tears stream out as the ghost of his father tried to help him from beyond the grave. His father continued to speak “You must accept the torture again, you need to learn, my time is incredibly limited. If you don’t master these now I will have no more chances to help you. Again you must endure.” Once again Maku found himself being torn apart and his body hurt. This time he submitted early as that was the key. This jutsu would be useful so he attempted to learn it in the few hours. He wasn’t even sure of the name. Once he got a good handle on the facts of the jutsu he turned proudly to his father. Only his father was gone, and there was only darkness. Awakening Maku realized it had all been a dream. However a new genjutsu formula had come to his head so he would have to work soon to learn it. But now wasn’t the time. At the moment the important thing was to work on his physical body, all the other training could occur later when he had a break
The rest of the day didn’t have much excitement. Maku continued to do his training exercises. From lifting and working out to sending earth spikes at himself so he could focus on making himself stronger. Maku knew that maybe he should summon his friend the Rock Lobster for some assistance. It was always a fun day sparing with him. Because of this he summoned him and began training. They didn’t spair much time with words, but instead they just started going at it. The fight wasn’t much of a big blast. Maku still didn’t use jutsu but instead only fighting hand to claw. Every claw he took to the body he knew it was making him stronger. His body needed to take hits to get stronger. After a couple sparring rounds he let the rock lobster go back home. Feeling accomplished he set off. Heading home Maku prepared t get home and meditate on his actions for the day.
Maku arrived home and set himself up for meditation. He looked back on his day. He had taken a lot of punishment of the course of the day by pressing his body to the wall. More workouts and running strengthened his body. Also the sparring match went well and made him stronger. Even the dream in the ruins he had made it more likely that he would have a new weapon soon. He would need to develop this jutsu soon, he wasn’t sure how it would work or the risks it might have. But most importantly he had taken a beating and his strength would increase for it. Letting his chakra flow over his body once again, Maku prepared to end his day of training. He needed to prepare a new schedule for what he should do. He also hoped that maybe he’d be able to spar with someone soon, which would help increase his abilities. Laying in bed he took to resting. Perhaps the next day would be more fruitful. He had hoped to get a little more done, but it just wasn’t the order of the day.
