Escort to the Exams
Fri Feb 17, 2017 5:46 pm
- Mission:
- Mission Name: Escort
Rank: A
Type: Escort
Character Requirements: Genin team/Chunin+
Mission Location: Desert
Word Count Requirements: 8,000
Repeatable? Yes
NPC? no
Reward: 4,000 Ryo
Task: Some high class nobles visiting from other lands are going to be coming to Suna, it is your mission to make sure that their journey is a safe one. You will meet them at the boards of Suna and lead them through the desert without anything happening to them.
As Ryu entered the kazekage’s office he was turned away by Suki. Apparently, being bored wasn’t a good reason to want to visit the kazekage. Instead, she gave him a mission to accompany one of the sand jounin in escorting some noble. Guess he wanted to watch the upcoming jounin exams. Without delay the ninja went towards his house and once inside packed water, clothes, and other traveling gear before heading to the gates.
If Faith was there first he would approach her, otherwise he would wait at the gates. Of course, he would look around to see if they were paying attention. As of late it seemed he was the only one looking out for people in the desert.

The new jounin, Faith Akari, was walking toward the gate, with her spare change of clothes, water, and other supplies. The pink haired woman was on an A-Rank mission today, her first one as a jounin. She made her way to the village gates, where she was supposed to meet up with a genin by the name of of Ryu Reinhard. Well, she calls him a genin, but the boy had already shown himself to be of Chunin, if not jounin level, which posed a question to the Akari, the boy was obviously taking the exams, as such, why was he out here, on an A rank mission, instead preparing for the Jounin exams?
As Akari made her way to the gate and saw the boy arriving to the gates at the same time as her, she would put these thoughts in the back of her head, perhaps the boy was being punished for something, perhaps the boy was in need for the money, maybe it was he wanted to take his mind of the exams for a short period of time? Either way, It wasn’t the Pink haired woman’s duty to care or problem, it didn’t affect the mission at hand, as such, it wasn’t her job to dig into her men’s personal lives. As such, she would just ignore this curiosity.
The mission that they were preforming was simple, go out to a set meet up point, collect the nobles from the team that had been transporting them such far, and return with them to the village. Simple enough, even more simple most likely because any bandit or Missing ninja would be aware of the exams and know that the village was crawling with shinboi right now, as such, none should really be stupid enough to come try to kill or capture any nobles right now. As such, this seemed like a very simple A – rank mission.
The Akari would see the boy (OOC: How old is Ryu? I can’t find your character app) and Would make her way to the shinobi that was put on the mission at the last second.
“Ryu Reinhard?” The pink haired Jounin would ask, “Faith Akari, I am the commanding Jounin for the mission, I don’t believe we have ever met, before” Faith would look at the blonde haired shinboi, waiting to hear if he had anything to say for himself or a way to introduce herself.
Word count; 410
(OOC: Sorry, still new to the character and trying to figure this out and Suna as a whole,)

(Ryu is 14 and short for his age.)
At least Suki had given him a brief description before he left, otherwise he would have been completely unprepared when the pink haired jounin approached him to announce herself. Standing up straight the ninja would smile before introducing himself as well.
“Ryu Reinhard it’s nice to meet you, no we haven’t not really anyway.” By that he meant he had seen the face, but couldn’t put a name to it until this moment. He would fix his sunglasses and the pick up his chuunin jacket and put it on. He didn’t usually wear it, but if there was a chance he could run into trouble he would rather have it. Better to have something and not need it, than need something and not have it.
While he was talking, he would try to sense the other ninjas chakra, if she had it suppressed he would give up. His would be suppressed as it normally was when he wasn’t using jutsu or training. It is better to go unnoticed when in the village or even outside of it. True ninja were supposed to blend in with their surroundings.
“I wasn’t given many details about the mission, care if I ask where we are going and who we are picking up?” He said the following with his back straight and arms at his side, he wasn’t really used to dealing with jounin in the village. It seemed as if for most of his career they were non-existent, but then one day they poofed out of nowhere and he was left like – “Wow, they were here all along. They are like ninjas or something.”
From there he would let Faith take the lead on when to leave and what to talk about. Of course, he would be remiss if he didn’t ask about her experiences. Surely, he wouldn’t word it as such but he would get his point across. The point being to learn from a jounin what it takes to be a jounin.

Faith would join them as they proceeded to walk out of the village, Faith leading the young ninja. Curiously enough, the young teen apperntly hadn't been given any warning about what the mission was about, but, at the same time, the Akari could understand this, The boy was probably just thrown into this mission, She wasn't sure why the uppers of the village were wasting his time on this, but the light user wasn't going to go against her orders. Akari would explain as they walk, "Our orders are simple, a few nobles are traveling from the konoha to here. A group of their shinobi are taking them from there village, and are dropping them off with us at the edge of the desert. We are to then escort them the rest of the way to Suna for them to witness the exams, as for the noble’s names and numbers, I haven’t been given that information, but I suppose it isn’t that important, or we would have been told.”
Akari would make her way out of the village and toward the east, heading in the direction of the meet up point. As they walked she would start going into lecture mood, with all honesty, she didn’t feel like the boy needed it, after all, he had a strong chance of becoming a jounin in the up and coming weeks, but Akari’s personal desire to prove she was a leader made her half instruct, half lecture the boy. “We are supposed to protect the nobles from missing ninjas and from bandits. However, I doubt that either of which will be a problem. The exams are well known to the point that most Bandits and MN will be aware that our numbers will be bolstered by Shinobi of the leaf, and as such will probably relocate until after the exams, so, we will probably be fine with that, but at the same time we must keep on guard” Akari would look at the boy, he was quite young, barely old enough for him to be a Chunin, and he was already looking into becoming a jounin. She would look at him, and ask “Do have any other questions?”

The boy would nod as his superior gave him the rundown of the task they had been given. So, we need to meet the leaf ninja at the border of the wind country and take over the escort for the nobles. He thought there would only be one originally and only caught that there would be more, because his ears were focused on the jounin’s words as if some of her experience would liquefy and he’d absorb it like a sponge. Oh, so it could be one and we don’t have a name. This popped a pretty large amount of thoughts into the ninjas head. What if someone impersonates a noble and ninja, to try and sneak into the village. What better way than to bring them in ourselves?
Ryu would follow the jounin as she moved to the gates and then through them. He would turn around and talk to the genin at the gate. “Be sure to not slack off and actually watch the gates. Yeah, its boring but stay up and pay atten… Atten… The thing where your eyes are open and you’re looking for stuff.” He would wave and then silently follow behind Faith.
At least she wasn’t someone who was completely silent, it would be a boring trip otherwise. Also, it would make things difficult to learn from her if she were to just order him to be silent. It is true many more ninja will be out doing missions. But, while we have more ninja the land of fire has less. If I were a bandit and planned to attack a noble I’d do it there. Of course, any wandering of his mind was cut off when he was given the opportunity to ask questions.
Now, she didn’t say questions about them mission so he had to think. Well what would you do if… You saw a pack of lions fighting a tyrannosaurus? Probably, the best way to ascertain how cool she was but would probably cut off the path to other questions. “What does it take to be a jounin?” There were only a few within the village, from what Ryu heard other villages had many more. So, maybe a Suna jounin by its very nature was better than a jounin of another village because of them needing higher requirements.

As the boy found himself struggleing over the word, Faith would answer the question that he is looking for. "Attention, I believe is the word you are looking for." And would continue on out of the gates toward the leaf, but she was stopped and asked another question, "What does it take to be a jounin?"
The Akari would chuckle at this, "When I said that, I was refering to the mission, keep you mind on it soilder." She would explain, an ever so slight hint of hostility in her voice, but then continue on talking, this time a little bit more gentler. "However, I suppose that I didn't clarify that. And since we have some time before we arrive to the meet up point, I suppose it would be a fair way to kill the time. That being said, perhaps I should ask you to clarify your own question. To become a jounin, at least, in most villages, there are really only three requirements, be strong enough that you can hold your own with other B-class ninja’s, be strong enough that you can bark orders around to underlings and no one will question your judgments on it, and not be enough of a dumb ass that you will lose your title do to some stupid remark or call in the field. However, each village has another requirement on top of that in order to become a jounin. Most villages keep and emphasis on combat abilities and tactical knowledge to the best of my understanding. However, As I said, prehaps I should ask you to clarify your own question, are you asking what it will take to be a Jounin, or a jounin in Suna?”
The Akari would wait to hear the teenager respond. Presuming he did ask for a jounin in Suna, Faith would continue with her explanation. “In Suna, we have a little bit of a different situation, which is why we don’t have the usual examinations that most villages have. Kazekage Uchiha doesn’t put as much of an emphasis on power as most villages do. Instead, he has the belief that on top of being powerful, A shinboi needs to be kind and merciful as well. To be a jounin in suna, the Kazekage would like to see one have the ability to show more than just strength, but mercy, and be able to teach others to show mercy as well. He believes any idiot with a sword and time can train to the point that they could kill anyone, but it takes a special kind of person to be able to take up a sword, defeat a person, and to spare his life rather than just killing him and being done with it.”
As they made their way out of the village and Faith would finish up and ask the boy “Is that a satisfying answer?”

“Yeah, that word.” He would say after Faith said the word he was fumbling to say. Even with the word said he wouldn’t try to say it again, his point had already gotten across and it was doubtful he could even say it. Ryu would continue to walk until Faith stopped and repeated his question.
Why is she laughing, telling me to focus up, and then returning to nice. She’s one of those bi-polaroid people, huh? He would listen to the basic requirements of the title as the jounin listed them. So, I have to be good at giving orders, kick some B-rank butt, and not be dumb. Well that sounds easy. No, wait I can do the butt kicking. But I can’t even say attention and not be dumb? I’m all about doing dumb stuff. Maybe, I’m not ready to be a jounin. Sure, I may have the power but that’s not all there is to it.
“I guess my question would be a jounin in Suna.” He would say thinking for a moment after he had been asked the question. I’m used to working on my own do I even know how to work with a team, let alone lead one? Taking a sucker from his pocket he would take off the wrapper lick the thing once, before rolling it in the sand and placing it back into his mouth. Self-doubt gone, sand tastes awesome.
If the odd actions didn’t stop her from continuing, he would listen and walk. He was much more attentive without him thinking too hard on the words Faith was saying. “Oh, yeah the cycle of hatred that uncle was talking about. After our fight he told me about it and then made me a chuunin.” It really wasn’t long ago and Ryu had never forgot, in fact its most of what he thought of recently.
“Yeah, it answers a few things that I wanted to know. Thanks.” Pulling out another lollipop he would offer it to the jounin. “Want one? Its apple.” He would hold the thing up, so she wouldn’t have to bend. He would then hold his own inside his mouth as he began to make handseals. “If, we have a far walk I might as well learn a jutsu.” He started with Ram, then monkey, followed by ox, finally he clapped. “Don’t worry this is supposed to be a seal, that makes it so people can’t sense you.”

Faith would accept the apple, and bite into it. This might of been a professional mission, but Ryo and her did have a long way to walk, and keeping up their stamina would be good for that. The Akari would take the apple and bite into it. After some time, Ryo would start practicing his Chakra suppression during their walk. "Praciticng even during a mission?" Faith would ask "Good for you takeing the initiative like that! But tell me, is this just the basic chakra suppression technique? If so, I can give you some pointers as we walk if you would like."
Faith would think about her own jutsu she was trying to learn, it was a fire style technique, similar to that of a basic fire stream technique, only it went on to cover a lot more distance, burnt for a lot longer and did a lot more damage than the basic fire stream. It might of costed more energy, but Faith was a soldier, as such, it was her job to make sure she had the stamina reserves to form high level jutsu. The pink haired Jounin was actualy reading about it earlier today, Firestyle, Majestic flame destruction is an A rank fire technique where chakra kneaded inside the user's body is converted into fire, condensed in the lungs, and then expelled from the mouth in a massive stream of intense flames that can set a vast area ablaze, engulfing the target in a veritable sea of flames. If used upon a dense, combustible terrain, such as a forest, the confined area can greatly increase the possibility of the target's incineration. The technique goes on for about 40 meters. And requires the following hand seals to form, Rat → Ox → Dog → Horse → Monkey → Boar → Tiger.
It crossed the girl’s mind that perhaps the Chunin she was traveling with might of known a thing or two about the technique. However, she was a jounin now, and her pride sort of kept her from asking about it. Was it foolish? Yes, but hey, everyone had their flaw

“No, not the technique for yourself.” He would say suppressing his chakra, giving the jounin an idea of what he was going to say next. “I had a friend who was blind besides his ability to sense chakra, so I kind of learned how to suppress it so that I could hide better.” He would then continue making the same seals as before as he moved a couple more paces forward.
“This jutsu is supposed to make it, so that anyone outside of the area around the seal can’t sense you. So, you can use ninjutsu without alerting anyone.” At least the scroll told me which seals to use this time though. “This one seems a little easier than the last one I learned. It was a barrier technique.”
Pulling back the sleeve on his right arm he would then make four seals and place the palm of left onto his right arm. After removing his hand a black tattoo like marking in the form of a shield would be there. “I can activate the seal when its needed, by wasting the energy now.” He would say smiling.

The Akari would listen to him and scratch her chin as the two of them walked, "A supression seal that stops people from sensing you from far away, but still allow you to preform ninjutsu? That seems like a good skill to have. When you are done learning it, I might ask if you could show me a few pointers on it... Although you just said seal. I suppose that means that this is a type of Funjutsu? If that is the case, then I might not be the best person to learn it, was never the best at seals when I was growing up.
The Akari would continue to walk with Ryu, after an extended time of walking, the Akari would ask, "So, correct me if you are wrong, but you are preticpating in the Jounin examination if I recall correctly, how has that been going for you so far?"
