Escort to the Exams

“Yeah, it’s a fuinjutsu.” He would say performing the seals over again. “I had to look at a lot of pictures to figure it out. All of the books had a bunch of words, but I couldn’t understand them.” As he clapped his hands together Ryu would pass his hand on a rock, creating an array on it. The array would create an invisible barrier to the naked eye, but any dojutsu user would be able to see a clear barrier twenty meters in diameter around the rock.

“Huh, I wonder if it works.” He would say continuing to move along with Faith.

Ryu kind of got a little saddened when the jounin brought up the ongoing exams. “They are way too easy, I’m pretty sure they stuck me against a genin. In my fight in a few days I’m fighting two genin and what I’m pretty sure qualifies as the worlds slowest ninja.” It would be tough to figure out how he knew the guy was slow, but Ryu had met Yensung at the gates. It was part of his plan to investigate his opponents, which kind of succeeded. Except for the first group none of the late arrivers were truly remarkable.


“Hopefully, after this if I move on I can go against some really strong opponents.” He would say before stopping after seeing some footprints in the sand. “Who would be all of the way out here right now?”

Faith would listen as the boy would complain about the easienst of the exam. He would explain how his opponents were so slow and unmoving, with all honstey, the Akari probably should of told the boy to knock off the complaining, that he was given an oppritunity and that he should of embraced it. That he should treat this like a mission and just put the work in.

However, at the same time, the Akari understood what he was saying, While she never had a problem with exams being to easy (She had always just done missions to rank up) She understood what it was like to train for hours uppon hours, and feel like you are on the top of the world with your training, but then have all your work not show off in misssions. Getting missions that doesn't let you show all the work and training you have done makes one feel like they wasted a lot of there time.

The Akari would look at the boy and respond. "I know what that feels like, I personaly find it very distasteful when I am given an easy mission, its like, I spent all this time training, and I don't get to show off all the hours I put into training! But think about it like this, if they are as easy as you say they are, then you will probably ace that portion of the exam and continue to fight more challenging opponents. And even if there is no one in the exam that can lace your boots, think about it like this, If you pass your exam in an overwhelming show of strength, exspecialy when the entire audience is watching you, then think of what your missions will be like form this point forward? You will probably get the most difficult missions out there and be able to show your skills there. So, I understand it might suck now, but just hang in there a little longer..... soilder.... the reward will come..... the reward will come...."

They would walk a little bit more, and Faith would ask, "So, there was an earlier portion of the exam, right? How did that go?

“Thanks.” Ryu would say after the comfort that Faith gave him. In truth Ryu was waiting for a good fight one that with the slightest mistake he could lose. Maybe the group fight would be against expectations and actually be worth some experience.


The chuunin would stumble quite a bit as Faith brought up the written portion. “Oh, the written part?  I couldn’t read the words.” It wasn’t a surprise that when he got the exam back it was in the fifties. He would throw his hand behind his head. “I got like some low number or something, at least that’s what the guy who read it said.”

Faith would continue walking, until the point came where Ryu would say that the couldn't read the words, and would stop walking and just stare at him a little bit.

"......."

The woman had thought for a second, maybe the chunin didn't have an ability to read, but then realized that what he was speaking of couldn’t possibly. No matter how dumb a shinobi is, at this point, they had to be at least semi literatate. That being said, what could the boy be talking about? Thinking for a bit, the Akari realized that the test must have been in code. It was probably very difficult and this was probably the fault of the exam's writing staff.

"The exam was so messy that you couldn't even read it?” The pink haired jounin would say shocked, "Lazy, writers, they should of written the exam in a way that was easy enough for anyone to read, or was the exam in code or something? Something that you had to figure out so you could write do the exam? Would test your ability to critically think, and that is something any jounin needs.

“Yeah… It was totally the writers fault. Eh heh heh hehh..” He would say tacking on one of the fakest laughs he had done in his life. I really hope she doesn’t need me to read anything. “Well the exam was in code, they put a bunch of letters together and that’s where it got confusing.” Big words really suck, like a lot.



“Well I can critical think, just not if I have to write it down. When it gets to that part I don’t know how to put it out there. I can do it, just not put it into words so much.” It was a little awkward talking to a lady he had just met about his inability to read and write, but he find solace in that he hadn’t actually come out and said it yet. In fact, Ryu was still wondering how she hadn’t figured it out yet. He couldn’t even say attention when they were at the gates.

Code? Faith was glad that she didn't have to do that in order to become a Jounin, While she probably could do that, it seemed like a waste of time. "Agh, sorry to hear that, For combat types like you and me, there isn't much of a reason to make us combat types do things like writen exams, Its a good skill to have, critical thinking, but when it comes to decoding like that, it shouldn't matter if we can write it down, it completely matters about Combat."

Faith had been suspected that he wasn't able to read and write, from the first part he said, but The Akari assassin figured that code would sound like something that the examiners would throw at them during the jounin exams, as dumb as it was.

The two would continue walking for sometime, still being alert, and watching Ryu continue to practice his techinique. It was a little bit akward talking to him since there was a bit of an age gap and that the two of them had never talked before. The Akari would continue the conversation, trying to not make this a silent trip. "So, the 2nd part of the exam is a free for all 4 way combat encounter, correct? Do you know who your opponents are for that yet?"

Ryu could only look up at Faith as she said that decoding and all that other stuff was useless. Usually people told him the opposite and said it wasn’t all about how well you fight. But here was a jounin telling him what he wanted to hear all along. “Right, teacher.” He would say with a slight grin. She must be really strong, I hope we get a chance to test ourselves out here. Ryu would do the seals once more for the fuinjutsu, before placing his palm onto his own chest over his armor. “Okay, we should be able to use jutsu without detection, but only if I don’t move. The array isn’t that stable.”


Maybe, Faith could see the meaning of his words or maybe she couldn’t only someone trained in seals would know that the field surrounding them couldn’t be moved without breaking the jutsu. Ryu would take a step forward after stopping and the mark on his armor would disappear. “Some fuinjutsu are just supposed to be still, but this barrier seal on my arm won’t go away until I activate it.”


As they continued onward in silence, it was Faith that decided to break it. “Yeah, its going to be much different than any other fight I’ve had. I know all of the participants in one way or the other. Nobu is a sand ninja, that I trained to use taijutsu. Orokana was the one I defeated in my first fight, and Yensung I know of from my study of the leaf ninja at the gates.”
When the duo got a few more feet ahead Ryu would stop suddenly, if Faith didn’t stop he would say. “Do you see that?” Across from the pair was a large sand dune with four very large eyes focused on them. The chunnin had only spotted it, because of the way the sun reflected off them. With the ninja stopping the scorpion knew it had been sighted as Ryu looked directly at it. With a loud noise it erupted from the dune as did two dunes behind it.


What erupted from the dunes were three extremely large scorpions around the size of a large elephant. Each had two massive sets of pincers and a tail that had a stinger which dripped with poison. As the first moved toward the pair the chuunin made seals for the barrier seal and placed it on the ground. “We won’t be noticed if we go all out now.” With that the boy would make three seals, after finishing the last steam would erupt from his body and five incredibly hot orbs of heat would appear around his body. “Just, say the word teacher.”

Faith would listen to Ryu until she heard the explosion, the Akari would look over in that direction, and see three large scorpians. The Akari would sigh, thinking to herself that atleast something happened on this boring trip. She would draw her sword, seeing the chunin at her side ask for orders, and would respond. “Take the one on the left, I will take the one on the right. Try to do it quick enough that the middle one can’t interfear and we will pincer attack it at the same time.)
Activating her Golden eyes, the pink haired jounin would make her way towards the one she called, running in a curved direction that way it would be harder for the other two to come at her. Running at a speed of about 52, the pink haired girl would draw her blade and attempt to take out the one closest to her. She would use her favorate Technique, the dance of the Crescent moon. If uninterrupted, The woman would make the sign of confrontation with a single hand before 2 clones would appear next to her and would attempt to strike the closest one to her. The sword would be swung with a sharpness of about 72, at a speed of 155 and a power of 70. The Akari and one of the clones would stab into each of the eyes, while the third clone would would attempt to go in front of the two, step onto the scorpions head, and try to run up and cut off the pincer. At the same speed and power as mentioned before. (Wow, just realized I didn’t have a boost on Faith)

Listening to Faith, Ryu would take the scorpion on the left. Two of the orbs would rush towards the scorpion designated for him to target. The other three would merely float around Ryu. The orbs moved at speed 140 with a power of 140. Well out of the range for the creature to make an effective dodge. As the orb of heat touched the creature steam erupted from its body cracking the shell where the gas poured out and causing the creature to cry out in pain. In addition the scorpion did not look burnt where the orb has touched it, instead it appeared as if the surface has become brittle having lost all moisture like a piece of jerky. Luckily, Ryu only hurt the creature enough for it to dive beneath the sand a bit of its pride and hide injured. Deciding that the ninja was not going to be easy prey in the slightest , it had given up if Faith didn’t choose to take it out before it fled completely. The scorpion in the middle was not yet aware of the power of the orbs.

Faith seemed to be on top of things as she ran towards the scorpion. As she got in range of the creatures claws it snapped them both at her attempting to catch her within its grasp. (Speed 40, 60 sharpness) If the jounin evaded these attacks and proceeded with her clones and other actions two out of four of the creatures eyes would be taken out of commission. While the slash at the creatures pincer would make a thin scratch on the surface where Faith had cut. (I gave the eyes less health, because it made sense, but the sharpness even with the +15 to resist barely makes a scratch in the 75 health creature.) If Faith did all of these actions, with a clone on two of its eyes and the actual faith by the pincer the creature would attempt to grab the Faith by its pincer, whilst the other pincer went towards a clone on the eye and the pincer came down towards the clone on the other eye. The pincer on the actual Faith seemed off as the creatures vision had been hampered, but the attacks on the clones were spot on with their proximity being so close. (max speed/power for attacks.)

As Faith was closer to the middle scorpion than Ryu it decided to attack the woman, beginning to move. Noting this the ninja would move two of the orbs nearest him to the location of that scorpion, while also moving the two used to force the other scorpion to run to the one Faith was currently fighting. With the scorpions slow speed it was only a few seconds before the middle scorpion let out a loud shriek having had its chitinous hide crack from lack of moisture. Unlike, the previous one though this scorpion did not give up. It stuck its tail out in a drastic attempt to reach Faith. One of the orbs would cover the creatures tail not only eliminating the water within, but the liquid venom as well.


The orbs sent towards Faith would float around her 5M’s away from her as they did with Ryu. As she moved they would also move. The chuunin would spin his fingers about giving the impression it was the motions controlling the balls.

(Yeah, I know, why I aimed for the eye, I need a boost, and I lost my sword I was working on, Aki took it down. Also, I don’t know why but I am having so much difficulty writing for this combat. So if something seems out of place here, that is why. Also, we are trying to wrap this up, and I just don’t know what to write at this point. )

Faith would stab into the two eyes, they it didn’t seem to completely destroy them like she had hoped, but it would definitely, make it harder for them to see right now.

As the pincers came at Faith, she would quickly jump off of the scorpion and land on a good bit of distance away from the two upcoming scorpions, about 20 meters to say exactly. Faith would look on as her two clones tried to take on the two scorpions, but they were just too big, and to powerful. Angel would then quickly start forming the proper handsigns of the jutsu that she had been practicing for some time, Katon: Majestic Fire destruction. Her sword wasn’t really sharp enough to do enough damage to the Scorpions to really hurt them, but surely this technique would be enough to do as such.


Faith would form the proper hand signs, Rat → Ox → Dog → Horse → Monkey → Boar → Tiger at a speed of 80, before taking a deep breath and spewing a large amount of flame from her mouth. The Flames would come out at a speed of 60 and power of 60 (I know they should be going faster and more powerful, but for this situation since Faith is still learning the technique, let’s just say that happens.) The flames would spread out, going out for 40 meters long and at its furtherst point spreading out 20 meters wide. They flames of destruction would completely envelop the two scorpions and burn them down to ashes. Faith would look over to Ryu, who had taken care of his scorpion and (Presuming he hadn’t already) Wait for him to take care of his scorpioin.

“Well,” Faith would say, “That was… quite the surprise. I Know I said we should stay on our guard, but with all honesty, I seriously expected smooth sailing from this point onwards.

After addressing any injuries, if there were anything, and the two would continue to walk toward the meet up point.

“So….” The pink haired Akari would ask, “So… Um… What do you think of the Kazekage?
