Vēdros Jūgo; Genin Exam

Vēdros had received word that his request for an early Genin Exam had been approved. He had arrived to find that his proctor was not yet there. He was informed that due to his unusual request, the proctor wanted to go over a couple things, and to wait in the exam room. Inside, there was a desk in the middle of the room, clearly meant for the applicant. Along the far wall was a larger desk, meant for the proctor. The opposite wall had some targets and some training dummies.

In his leg pouch, Vēdros had his academy welcome kit, including the training kunai. After today, he would be returning them. He knew that today was a big day, for he would get out of the academy, and continue on the path to become the Mizukage's spear, his living weapon. He stood almost opposite the door, back just barely not touching the wall. He was off centered, enough where he still had clear site of the entire room, and could still see out the door, but enough so that someone launching an attach through the door would find only an empty desk.

Another head on the chopping block, another body that'll soon be left lifeless. A boy wanted to progress through the ranks quicker than his peers, and who was Hisashi to deny the boy the privilege to die for his village? It was the most honourable way to perish, and in a sense he admired the boy for wanting to progress through the ranks.. yet death itself rarely admired. The boy would hear a rhythmic pattering of sandals further down the corridor as they approached the room itself, before a grizzled, grey haired veteran of Kirigakure stood inside the doorway, blocking any form of escape.. some habits were simply hard to get rid of.

Glancing over the boy before him.. he wasn't too impressed, yet appearances always had a way of being deceptive. The most muscular of men could cry just as loud as a girl, and the scrawniest could be the most difficult to make scream. "Listen up, Vēdros. I appreciate your aspiration, but a grave remains a grave regardless of how fast you move through the rankings. If you're pushupsnot prepared and you somehow slip through, that's one less body for Kirigakure to utilize, so we're going to make sure you're in peak condition. Start with 50 pushups, then throw a kunai at the stationary targets." Hisashi gestured with one hand towards the three training dummies in different areas of the room before continuing on, "Then perform the clone jutsu as well as the transformation technique within three minutes, then explain the combative applications of aforementioned jutsu and the importance of conditioning. We're on a timescale, Vēdros, let's go." With that, Hisashi would remain in the doorway with his clipboard in hand, making notes of the boy's movements.

Vēdros watched as the man entered. From his appearance, this clearly was a true Kirigakure no Sato shinobi. He noticed he blocked off the doorway, preventing any sort of escape. That suite him fine, he did not want escape, this was the future that he desired. He listen to his proctor's speech, and expected what he stated. He knew when he requested an early exam, he would be met with skepticism, all that mattered was he got it.

He took of his outer cloak, folding it a little before throwing it over the chair at the small desk. Falling to the ground, Vēdros started doing his push ups, counting out each one. Mentally ticking away the time, he knew he was going to have to step up his game, for he wanted to do more then just succeed. The skin of his arms and legs turned grey, using his bloodline, he increased the strength of all four limbs. While he knew the proctor may consider this to be cheating, Vēdros knew this was his chance to get noticed.

Vēdros used his increased strength to quickly go through his push ups. Counting each one as he went, he would clap his hands on every up thrust. With each push up, he continued to go faster, pushing his enhanced strength to the limit, deeming to complete everything within the time frame. Once he finished, he quickly sprung to his feet.

Digging the three training kunai out of his leg pouch, he stared at the proctor. These were going to be the last moments he used these. Tightening his fist around the ends of the kunai, his hand shot out towards the the targets. All three kunai soar through the air, aimed directly at the targets. Two sank to the end of the blade into the targets, while the third was sticking out of the head of the training dummy.

Next he did a back flip, his hands meeting the wall, and using the Tree Climbing Technique, he stabilized himself and pushed off, until he was standing on the sealing upside down. His cloak's inner poncho was attached to his skin using the same method. At the same time as the jump, he cancelled his bloodline, his skin fading back to it's regular color. From the ceiling, he started his display of the techniques.

"Ki Nobori no Shugyō, the Tree Climbing Technique. Part of the Chakra Adhesion jutsus, by collecting chakra in one's body, you are capable of climbing any solid, hard surface. While commonly only used to walk up surfaces, it can also be used on any part of your body." During his speech, his voice had a mono-tone sound, sounding like a teacher providing a lecture, using the proper terminology.

"Bunshin no Jutsu, Art of the Doppleganger, commonly refereed to as the Clone Technique." Vēdros states the name of the jutsu, before performing the seals, Ram → Snake → Tiger. He now stood on the ceiling, flanked by two copies of himself, their arms clasped behind their back at attention, and their six eyes locked on the proctor. "While not as powerful as the more advanced Bunshin techniques, only being classed as an E-Rank technique, this one still offers, in proper utilization, the element of deception, which can be used to catch an enemy combatant off guard."

Releasing the jutsu, he continues with the next one. ""Henge no Jutsu, the Transformation Jutsu." Vēdros states the name of the jutsu, before performing the seals, Dog → Boar → Ram. In a poof of smoke, he appeared like an older version of himself. Releasing and performing it again, he took the form of the proctor. "Considered to be one of the most useful, and versatile of the E-Ranked techniques, the uses for this range from combat, reconnaissance, retreats, and all aspects of the shinobi life."

"Kawarimi no Jutsu, the Substitution Jutsu, sometimes also called the Body Replacement Technique." Vēdros states the name of the jutsu, before performing the seals, Tiger → Boar → Ox → Dog → Snake. "A useful jutsu, which can quickly remove oneself from harm, and then utilize the confusion to his advantage, whether it be an attack or a retreat."

Vēdros was now standing in the middle of the room, wearing his black cloak. The figure on the ceiling started falling to the floor. Reaching out, he grabbed it, which disappeared in a puff of smoke, now just the desk.

"As you can see sir, I have mastered the four E-Rank techniques, commonly taught to academy students. If you deemed I have passed sir, I would like to request being placed on a ninja squad, to better be able to hone my skills in both teamwork, as well as in coordination tactics, in the service of the Mizukage, sir."

With his final word, the clock ticked onto the second minute. Though he had just barely broken a sweat, his breathing was still regular. As he stood, his stamina was returning.

"If you do not mind sir, I would have another request. I know that I missed the outing to Konohagakure no Sato. To prepare for the next one, I would ask if there is another Jūgo clan member within Kirigakure no Sato. My clan does not normally interact with one another, but to be a proper living weapon for the Mizukage, mastery of my Kekkei Genkai will be required."

Having scribbled down some notes regarding the boy's execution of jutsu and explanations, he paid particular attention to how the boy seemed to barely be tired from the exercise he had just done. Using a jutsu at such a low rank was taxing on the body, yet the boy had done four and seemed to be completely fine despite the usage of chakra. Perhaps he truly was as special as he believed.. but the boy had forgot something critical; after all, every single order was critical. "You haven't explained the importance of conditioning, Vēdros." He'd state simply, tapping his pen against the clipboard each second that elapsed.

Vēdros stared at the man. Looking back over what he said, he realized that he had forgotten this final thing. He felt a rush of anger, chastising himself for making this careless mistake. This whole time though, his face remained blank.

"Conditioning is the most important part, out of everything I just did. Though as shinobi, we have a great, destructive power at our hands, it does not matter if we only can produce it once. Through proper physical training, we can build up stamina, up our physical chakra limits, and be able to endure the strain of more powerful jutsu."

Vēdros continued staring at the man, his voice the same flat, mono-tone, lecture from before. Though he felt his explanation was enough, he had to go above and beyond with i, to make up for the previous error.

"Most importantly, when it boils down to two shinobi fighting, both having exhausted their chakra, the one who can most effectively fight will win, no matter who has the greater techniques at his beck and call."

Hisashi nodded his head finally upon the boy's explanation, no longer beating the pen off the clipboard as he scribbled a few more points down. All in all, it'd been a good show, but the boy seemed too keen to impress to the point that he sometimes forgot instructions.. That would be a problem later on down the line if it wasn't drilled out, but as things were, he had passed the exam. "Your physical conditioning is quite clearly above average for your rank to be able to perform all of that and still be breathing lightly. Your explanations were good and detailed and you wrapped it up in time. Congratulations, Vēdros, you are now a Genin of Kirigakure. As for your clan members.. No, I can't recall seeing anyone else with the same.. trait as you in the academy before." Hisashi stated simply before he took a step into the room and to the side, allowing the boy to exit. Once he reached the entrance of the academy, he'd come across a stall with headbands carrying the symbol of Kirigakure, with one of them now officially his.

Vēdros nodded at the proctor, his Genin Exam out of the way, and passed. He memorized the question that had caused him issues, he would never let that happen again. He removed the rest of his academy supplies and left it on the desk, before going to collect his headband. His first trial was over, he was officially a Kirigakure Genin. It was not over though, he was now going to have to gather more power, truly become a living weapon for the Mizukage.
