see you again
Wed Jul 04, 2018 12:48 am
In the streets of kumogakure a cloud of dirt would launch behind the erupting sound of clacking hooves. Two horses and one rider made their way across the village with great speed. "Get out of the way dammit!" The rider would yell at a group of bystanders, watching as they narrowly dove out of the horses reach. Dammit He'd think to himself as he realized how late he was running. His brother had asked him to secure the horses for their journey, and it had seemed a relatively simple task. So komon had accepted.
But all manners of problems had presented themselves along the way. For one, Komon was not a wealthy ninja, for all his talk of the village being his responsibility, he rarely if ever went on missions anymore. And it had left a dent in his Ryo. He hadn't the money to pay for the horses he had been riding. And that brought him to his second problem. He hadn't exactly acquired these horses legally.
"GET HIM!"
Hisssssss
A Kunai would wiz past his head, no doubt from the mob of stable workers and jounin who were giving him chase. Dammit, Dammit, DAMMIT, DAMMIT! He'd think to himself before looking back through the shroud of his faceless armor, just in time to see a kunai traveling for the middle of his forehead. Luckily he was faster than the shinobi who tailed him, and he'd swipe it away at the last possible second with his own kunai, sending the enemies weapon clattering into the brick wall of a market shop beside him.
Now or never
His horse and the empty one he was leading with the reigns would take a sharp left turn into an alleyway between the marketplace and the village library. and He'd manage to lose two of the four riders tailing him. But the others adapted fast, seeming to have more skill as riders than Komon. Which made sense, seeing as he was pretty new to this.
He was almost worried about getting caught. Almost Quickly he'd use the hand holding the reigns of the free horse to sign the rat seal in the air before slamming it into the brick wall past him. In doing so he'd create a wall of earth sealing the alley between him and his pursuers. And for a moment, he'd breathe a sigh of relief. He'd managed to evade his relentless trackers without drawing blood, something that he had absolutely hoped to do, as these were just jounin doing their job.
But his celebration wouldn't last long as the two he had ditched earlier appeared at the end of the alley. Seeming to have rounded about through some kind of shortcut. Now they charged at him with swords in hands, covering his only exit as he had just sealed the other off behind him.
With the distance closing between himself and the guards he decided it was about time to knock them out. with the formation of the snake handseal two bricks would dislodge themselves from the wall, and fly into the back of each of the guards helmets, toppling them from their saddles. There would be no lasting damage, but they'd sure as hell wake up with a headache. Aching to get out of here before the two pursuers on the other side found a way to get around he'd kick harshly on his horses side, causing it to gallop faster towards the gates.
If all went according to plan he'd show up at the gates where his brother was waiting for him, with two horses in hand and no guards on his tail. His armor would be covered in dirt from the clouds his horses had kicked up, and he'd be noticeably out of breath from keeping with the horses rapid rhythm. He'd drop the shroud at the sight of his brothers face.
"Two horses! As Promised!"

“Lord, Komon. Are you alright?” Komori asked his brother, with a trace of concern in his voice. The clean twin stood tall, his arms crossed as a result of not having anything to do with his hands while waiting. His Seisoken armor was hidden beneath his skin, otherwise the jounin flak jacket would adorn his body, the weapons pouches on his legs and the single Tsubasa blade strapped to his back, with an empty sheathe for a second sword he never bothered to replace. He dropped his arms, grabbing the reins from his brother, the single blade clinking in place. “You need a shower,” he would say with a grin.
If this were another time, the mood might be a bit lighter. But the two were aware of the situation. There were people out there either killing or kidnapping their own shinobi. Naturally, these occurrences were taking place in two or three different regions, Komori opting to head towards the shoreline and Komon taking another route.
For once, they were not traveling together. Until now, the twins had mostly been together, aside from their short lived battles, notably the ones pertaining to the first two bijuu that the fuinjutsu specialist had sealed.
Even then, it had been odd. Now, it felt stranger. With the loss of Senshi and the lack of proper leadership, the village felt more spread out and strained than normal. Jounin were individually being assigned missions and the like, as opposed to letting squads deal with assignments. Life felt stagnant, yet was also moving too rapidly. What once was a dream had now become a monotonous part of everyday life.
Of course, this was still the life that the twins had signed up for. Dangerous missions, protecting the village. Komori smiled to himself, watching his brother struggle to catch his breath. To think I once longed for us to run away from all of this. And now I’m thinking about leading this damnable place.
Realizing what was at stake here, Komori approached his still tired brother, his chakra noticeably flaring to 195 from Hydrofortification to anyone with chakra sensory. Komori signed 4 handseals at a speed of 170 to anyone that was observing with his right hand, slapping his brother’s back and clamping his hand down on his shoulder. This would cause for a fuinjutsu chakra barrier seal to be placed on the less attractive twin’s back, holding a power of 100.
“Do you realize that the more reckless you are, the more likely you’ll die out there,” Komori said, giving his dirtied clothes another look over. “I can’t watch your back all the time, yknow?”
Even if he could not be there in the possible end, he wanted to do something nice for his brother. Something that he could have without even fully realizing it.
“Any other day, and maybe we could. What are the odds of us both being sent to two separate areas for similar things?” Komori smiled as he spoke, presumably handing Komon the reigns for his horse, while the Hozuki then proceeded to mount his own, landing with a soft thud on the stolen saddle.
“This one isn’t too bad,” he said in an impressed tone. Even if he did possess a byakugan, Komon would still have an eye for certain things. Komori trusted him absolutely, regardless of the situation. Others might consider this a weakness, but everyone needs one person to rely on fully. If there was no one who cared about what you can do, what you have done, and what you will do, then what’s the point if you just fade away into history.
He would sit on his horse unless otherwise interrupted, prepared to leave through the main gates as soon as possible. The jounin was getting antsy, as people’s lives were on the line, and he was the only one who was presently able to stop it. For Kumogakure. Komori gazed wistfully at the palace of the Raikage. For the throne and the betterment of these people.

"You need a shower"
Really?
Komon would take a quick whiff of his armpits before his nostrils cursed him for the action.
Yes, Really. ...Good to know.
"You know, A little appreciation wouldn't hurt" Komon would retort to his brothers comment. "Getting these with no Ryo was no easy task" The these he was referring to were the mighty horses, stolen straight from the villages finest stables.
Komon was getting pretty good at this whole thieving thing, and was starting to see the allure of the life it held. Perhaps even understanding now why that man had robbed him so long ago. Unlike that man however, Komon planned to answer for his crimes upon his return to the village.
But right now, the horses served a larger purpose than being sold to the highest bidder. The twins had a long journey ahead of them, and although they could most likely make the walk themselves, the horses would conserve their energy should they be caught off guard.
"I can't watch your back all the time"
Komon would sarcastically turn his nose at the suggestion. "Brother you wound me, surely I'm capable of looking after myself after my long career as a shinobi" He was only mocking his brother and facading offense, knowing full well that Komori had only the best intentions.
"By the way I figure I should tell you this now... I may or may not have let missing ninja from hoshigakure stay in our guest room" He'd say telepathically so no bystanders could here, after all such talk was treason of the highest order, and had no need to be spread around unnecessarily before Komon could sort it out with the village.
"It's a long story, that's kind of hard to explain. So I'll fill you in when we both get back" He'd declare, making it clear that he had no intention of dying on his departure. His brothers question on the odds of them being sent on similar missions at roughly the same time amused him. "I'd say about the same as us battling two seperate bijuu at the same time" It would be followed by a hardy laugh. He and his brother had been through a lot in their years as shinobi, and he'd learned to take pleasure in their victories.
"This one isn't too bad" He'd say referring to the horse Komon had stolen for him. "I like him, Named him tug" He'd given the horse the name because of how much he'd tugged on the reigns during their escape. He was a powerful horse, and impulsive much like his rider. "He should suit you well"
And now the twins stood mounted on their horses in front of the village gates, all that was left was for the gate guard to release them, and then they'd be on their way. As he looked at the journey ahead of him, the last words senshi ever spoke would resonate within him again.
"You are entrusted with her defenses, entrusted to protect her and the many people that call her home. Do not ever dream of failing her"
I won't He'd assure nobody but himself as he gripped the reins of his horse.

There vibe in the land only became worse due to the reports of missing villagers. Fear spread among the villagers, a rumor spread that the rot people who lived around the wall were no longer docile. Some of the more radical citizens proposed idea of eradication. Half the ninja in the village were tasked with keeping the peace while the others were sent on constant search and rescue missions to find the true source of the disappearances.
Sakana never officially took part in either side of the operation, being exempt due to the beast inside him. Too valuable to go out into the field. Too uncontrollable to deal with angry villagers, the rot citizens were a product of the last raikage after all. Despite this, the Meijin often found himself around the gates. Looking outside the village for any signs of life, watching inside to make sure no incidents happened.
The day was mostly silent up until he witnessed two men approaching on horseback, an uncommon way to travel among ninja considering many were faster than the animal. As they came closer Sakana recognized them to be Komon and Komori, well recognized their armor at least. The boy started to hop off his self proclaimed post to greet them before the twins left. “I see you two are going on a search and rescue run.” His voice was soft with a hint of concern, if something out there was capable of capturing ninja it certainly insured that any rescue attempt could prove deadly. But in front of him were two of the best shinobi the village had left to offer, they were responsible for protecting the village on more than one occasion. If anyone could be successful on this mission it would be them. “Didn’t you just get back from a mission?” A slight laugh escaped him, no rest for the weary.

“Hey, I would’ve offered to pay for them but I left my own wallet behind. No point in taking it out there with me, yknow?” Komori retorted in response to his brother’s retort. He then laughed at the next phrase. “My dear brother, your losing streak is as long as your career.” This felt nice. One last conversation with Komon before they were both sent on dangerous missions, yet their conversation felt like a typical day. Komon would probably find a way to trade another blow back at the better looking twin, and the two would continue with their banter, neither one wanting to give up. Because they both knew that once it had stopped, they would have to part ways.
Even though the mental message was unexpected, Komori merely shrugged. “Doesn’t bug me as long as they don’t steal my shit. I can’t really blame ‘em for leaving, honestly,” Komori would answer back telepathically. One of these days, he was going to bother learning the seal for himself. Komori nodded with a cocky smirk on his face. “When we return then.” Komori would laugh at the bijuu comment as well, savoring the moment between them. Fate really had a funny way of working. “Tug, huh? I can dig it.”
---
“Can’t say we aren’t busy,” came the simple answer.
Komori tugged on the reigns of Tug, ready to go. Although he wanted the moment to last longer, it felt like he was being rushed or something.

He's not wrong
He'd think to himself as his brother pointed out his losing streak.
But I'm still alive, Thats gotta count for something
Of course, he'd voice nothing resembling the thought process out loud instead electing to carry on the banter.
"Right, So next time I hear you charging at me with the technique I taught you, I'll be sure take advantage of it, instead of you know... letting you win" These wars of words with his brother happened less than he would have liked these days. Their separation being the result of kumogakures rapid expansion across the continent. Their wars had taken a toll on their number of shinobi, and the small amount they had were spread thin throughout their many territories.
He'd grown used to it over the several months they'd been at it. His life as a shinobi had forced him to grow away from the childish perception he held as a chuunin. The dream to protect his brother from any and all harm. Looking at the man across from him he couldn't believe he had ever held such a belief, Komori had grown into as much a shinobi as himself, and he had no right to play his protector.
He'd smile at that realization.
Then a familiar voice would break between them, belonging to none other than his former student and Komori's former teammate. "Didn't you just get back from a mission" He'd ask the twins. And it was true... Kinda, the twins came and go as they pleased from the village, and their last departure hadn't really been an official mission from kumogakure. But Sakana did not need to know that.
He'd nod his head at his brothers quip before speaking on his own. "It's good to see you Sakana"

The fearless posture of the two jounin would prove to anyone looking at them that this wasn’t their first rodeo, they were ready for whatever was going to lie ahead of them. As Komori came closer there was a tiny squeak behind Sakana as Komorgi poked his head out from inside the tiny outpost. The Mejin slowly reached up to pick up the excited dog, wrapping him up in his arms. “He misses you Komori, since you’re never around anymore.” He would wait for a second for the dog to calm down, “It’s nice to see you guys too.” His voice would turn into an almost whisper “When you guys get back we have to meet, I think I’ve found out a lead on who was behind the Senshi hit.” There wasn’t anytime to go into the details currently, but he found out a lot of information in his recent research.
The twins weren’t at the gates for a reunion, so they couldn’t sit there and talk for long. Sakana would sigh as he threw his hand up as a signal for the gates to be open. “Good luck guys, find our people and bring them home.”

Stop stealing my dog.
Komori would look to Komon for comment about the Senshi bit, himself only giving a nod of affirmation. “We’ll be back in no time.” He flashed his signature cocky grin. “Victorious, of course.” The mighty gates before them opened up, allowing for the pair to leave and enter the rot fields. This may not have been ideal, but the stench of death barely affected the jounin anymore. They had grown accustomed to it, which was a rather poor thing to grow accustomed to. I’ll fix this when I get back.
Tug walked at a leisurely pace forwards and past the gates.

Komon's eyebrow would raise at the mention of a lead on Senshi, truth be told the twins had found a lead themselves, although with their constant missions he had never really had the chance to bring it up. He'd nod his head at the declaration before adding in his own input. "We found a lead of our own. If for some reason we don't make it back... You can find it in the drawer of my desk in my bedroom" He didn't like talking about his own demise, it was a grim possibility, but a possibility none the less. And it would be irresponsible not to address it.
So on that note he'd give one final command before his last departure. "Sakana... This hammer is a little heavy for the horse, what with my armor and all already weighing him down" He'd unclip it from its resting place on his back, letting its familiar weight drop into his palm. "I'd appreciate it if you held onto it until I return"
Assuming Sakana would take the hammer another nod would manifest at Sakana's simple request. One objective, find the people responsible for the rumors that had spread throughout kumogakures many territories, put an end to it, and bring their people back. An honorable objective, and one Komon intended to fulfill. "Right then, I guess that's all for now" He'd declare as he pulled on the reigns of his new horse.
This one he'd named dust, both for its light brown matted fur, and for the cloud it left behind it when it ran. "Until next time Sakana" He'd say without looking back, as he and his brother trotted away from the village once more.
