"Heh, show off." Toneri watched his brother's newly appointed commander flexing his display of power on a young girl, freezing her movement. Akaboshi had chosen the men that would serve under him too, as glorified bodyguards, it seemed. Leonidas, that mountain of a man, and the other Aemon, some noble man’s son that the village appointed as a squire or steward to appease his father.
The theme of their particular lecture involved secrets of mastering an element, Water or Suiton. Although her talents were more Iryojutsu oriented, his sister had the same element, but Natsuki wouldn't teach any ninjutsu today. It seemed that their training ended on a high note, with the Nova Captain calling on the flying lizards that he had for a summon contract.
"With a bit of luck, I won't have to teach anyone and make it to my dinner arrangements on time." In a different life, Toneri might have been able to keep his impulses in check. He made a prayer that no shinobi would show up in his section of the training area. He was taking glances from time to time around the Water Gardens, taking note of the people present. Some were familiars faces, most of them were not.
”Hello sir, my name is Emi Ren," A voice snapped him back to the present when he was about to be lost in thought. "I’m a new genin and came to this training session to learn a lot! I noticed you have a spectacular sword on your hip – would you happen to be able to train me in weaponry?” The golden eyes of the Genin, two meters away from him, staring deep into his cold green gaze.
"She probably thinks I'm peas in a pod with that dickhead Akaboshi Uzumaki. It seems logical as he is also a dignified Hoshi shinobi and does the same things as me. He also had a passion for expensive linen cloaks. Akaboshi and I even go to the same barber, although I do have a slightly better haircut." Toneri said to himself, smiling at the nervous Genin all the while.
"Hello Emi, My name is Toneri Hyuuga, Chuunin of Hoshigakure. I'd be more than willing to give some real training." Looking at her, though, Toneri had to admit that the kunoichi's quality in Hoshi had undoubtedly improved. With Emi a safe distance away, Toneri would move his hand quickly as a cat. The bare blade was out, cutting through the air. The steel looked as if it was drinking the light of the sun.
"You have a good eye; this is Brightroar, the finest steel in all of Haven. And a weaponry user, like the man who wields it, must always be fast on the draw," Toneri told the Genin assuringly. "And if an enemy charges while at it, don't let it break your momentum. On the contrary, you might disembowel them with that draw and finish the battle a moment sooner." The Golden Hyuuga stated with confidence in his voice.
"The name of this technique is QuickDraw. How about you give it a try with that katana of yours." Should she be successful, he would show her a few more sword techniques that he knew.

Emi seemed to catch the Hyuuga off guard as she introduced herself to him. The young kunoichi couldn’t help but notice a similar elegance to Captain Akaboshi, which Emi actually really enjoyed. There was just something about that serene, stylish, and refined look just attracted Emi. Maybe it’s because she grew up with her mother who loved clothes and her outfit was entirely custom made by her and her mother. It may not be of the highest quality, but it suited her and it was personal, so she couldn’t help but absolutely adore it.
Toneri eventually would introduce himself to Emi, stating his rank within the village as well, which was higher than Emi’s. She did expect him to hold a much higher rank than that, based on the look and his being here in the training grounds to help teach other shinobi. ”I suppose that’s why they say to never assume”. After Toneri’s brief introduction, Emi could spot him begin to move and she made sure to be at the ready… just in case she needed to follow him or draw her Katana.
”Woah, that was quick”. The move that Toneri had performed started and ended quicker than that thought would come and go through Emi’s mind.
"You have a good eye; this is Brightroar, the finest steel in all of Haven. And a weaponry user, like the man who wields it, must always be fast on the draw," Toneri told the Genin assuringly. "And if an enemy charges while at it, don't let it break your momentum. On the contrary, you might disembowel them with that draw and finish the battle a moment sooner." The chuunin exuded confidence as these words flowed from his lips to Emi. The young kunoichi was already sold and drawn in completely, she just wanted to know when she could learn the technique.
”The name of this technique is QuickDraw. How about you give it a try with that katana of yours”? Toneri didn’t need to say another word, as soon as those words hit Emi’s ears… she readied herself to start practicing the technique.
Emi would pause before trying to execute it though, trying to remember the exact movements that Toneri had shown. It was so quick that it was almost hard to keep up with and memorize the required movements. There was also the issue that Emi’s katana’s placement was strapped on her back and not on her hip. Either way – she needed to make sure she was fast on the draw.
The young genin made her first move with the technique as she pulled her katana from its sheathe and sent it down diagonally, moving her back foot forward swiftly… and pushing the sword forward quickly. Emi could feel how stuck the katana was on this first attempt – it certainly wasn’t smooth and because of that, it wasn’t very quick either. She’d need to practice this a few more times to get it down pat.
The kunoichi would sheathe her katana and take her stance once more in front of the chuunin… making sure she was a safe distance away from him. This time she would concentrate chakra into her hands and then letting her arm flow upward and down diagonally with the katana. She saved the thrust this time and really just focused on actually getting the sword out cleanly from her sheathe. ”This time was a little better… but it’s still not a real smooth draw… How did Toneri do it? His draw was so quick, but it was also effortless”.
Emi had been troubled by her thoughts as she wasn’t really getting this technique as quick as she’d like. She also noticed she had been accidentally infusing chakra into her katana… which was a skill that she meant to learn. ”I suppose by trying to use chakra for this technique – I had accidentally been infusing chakra into the katana… which is kind of cool.” The kunoichi grinned a bit and then sheathed the blade once more, and took her stance again.
This time she tried to not put so much effort into the draw and allowed it to be a lot more flowy and smooth… which may make it faster in a way. Emi’s right arm lifted up, wrapping her hand around the hilt and pulling up, making sure to follow the angle of the sheathe. Her hand was still coated in chakra as she still thought this may help her chances.. This time was so much better though as the blade was lifted up and brought straight down, then lifted upwards to the right as her back foot moved forward.
”Finally, that was so much better than the first few attempts. How was that, Toneri?

So it would seem like his background wasn't the only one with a negative stigma behind it, people giving odd looks his way as well. The clan somehow nullified other sources of chakra? That was a rather interesting property... if the absorption of nature chakra was indeed what triggered the bestial transformation, perhaps the Shinkou clan's unique abilities could be used to make an effective cure...
"If you just want to practice your taijutsu form, you are welcome to. I also don't mind if you throw ninjutsu or more advanced techniques my way either, so long as we keep away from the others." Loghain would finish his own stretch, watching the youth enter into a basic taijutsu stance. It wasn't much, the Shinkou leading with his left foot and his body weight supported by his right foot in the rear.
Loghain would take up a very basic boxers stance, his fists coming up to protect his chin and face at a distance of about a foot. His left hand would be ever so slightly farther out, though the difference was wasn't more than a few inches. The wolf would keep light on his feet, his knees bent slightly and rapid transfer of weight from one leg to the other as he moved forward a step and then back. He would keep his legs about should width apart.
"Ready when you are, Youta." He would offer. Once confirmed that his opponent was ready, it would begin.

“Worthless.” There was a small whisper that run in the back of his mind. He slowly walked through the village, realizing that he was farther away now than he ever had been to meeting his rival head on. His once rival was now his teacher, and it was a truly disheartening experience. He wasn’t sure what to do with himself, other than go back to the place that he always went when he needed to improve himself, the training grounds.
As he wandered through the village, he couldn’t help but to beat himself down further and further trying to understand just what he could do to just catch up to his rival, let alone surpass him. He went so far as to even get that mark from the man in the village square, but he didn’t know anything about it so he didn’t know how it was going to help him. There was a lot that he didn’t know, and there was very few resources for someone as low as him to figure things like this out.
He arrived at the gates of the training grounds, and he looked out to see what there was to see. He wasn’t sure if he was going to see anyone, but there was one person that he was praying to the dark one that he wouldn’t see, and that was his newly crowned teacher, Tsunayoshi. He set foot in the training grounds and he just continued to walk, having his head hang down so he wouldn’t catch the eye of anyone in particular, wanting to reach the furthest point of the training grounds, so he could begin praying to find a way that would give him that improvement that he was desperate for.

Toran was running, racing past the other villagers in an attempt to make it onto the training grounds on time. He had known about the training today, but his luck had led him to waking up only a few minutes prior. Everything was going so, so wrong. Especially when he could hear the crackles of lightning resounding just right outside of the training gate. Meaning that he was missing out on the most important event. That being the lightning release section of training.
Bursting right past the gate without a care in the world for who else was in the way, Toran was confused on who was learning what and where he was supposed to go. He desperately wished he had asked his mother to wake him up earlier than he said. Sleeping in only made him more tired than ever as he awkwardly made his way towards where the Genin were, gulping as one of them was being trained in the art of kenjutsu by a chunin at first glance, but it seemed like it was almost personal, nevermind the fact that there were now two very powerful shinobi near him, being the Nova of Hoshigakure and the Hogokage himself.
Toran was confused, and almost frightened at a thought that crossed his mind, being that he could ask their kage to potentially help him in getting up to speed in everything that was being learned. His throat seemingly shot down to his stomach as he tried to take a step towards the Hoshikage, but then immediately turned back to see that everyone seemingly had stopped training lightning release and were beginning to move on to another release all together. "Just what am I supposed to do?! Go on ahead and memorize hand seals for a release I don't even know?! Come on Tora think!"
There was a jutsu that he could learn at least, something that was vital for almost any shinobi to learn in ninja combat, that being the famous body flicker technique. It was rather simple, however at the cost of him probably accidently whizzing around the training grounds as a by-product of his still unrefined chakra control. Although he had been given compliments by his parents that his chakra control was better than most.
"I just gotta do what every told me to do, just make a ram sign and then move," Toran whispered as a pep talk of sorts, suddenly feeling his chakra begin to build up more and more before finally he tried to move, which led to him dash about a foot away from where he was originally, nearly smacking into where the Hogokage's little stand was. Toran quickly turned away, rushing back towards his spot. feeling quite embarrassed that he had been made a bit of a fool already and now only just learned something that was in almost every shinobi's arsenal.

Youta saw his teammates stance which was more of a boxers stance and quickly changed his to a quicker and more agile Kung-fu stance which he thought might give him an edge. But he was not sure taijutsu was not Youta’s strong suit. He was not very strong so he would have to use his speed and see what Sebastian's tactics would be. He would look at his Teammate and smile. “Oh, I think you will have the edge on this one but I will not ever give up. I know I need to work on this so that is what I plan on doing today. So let’s get this thing going”.
He knew just from looking at Sebastian that he had a huge disadvantage based on power and speed. Youta mostly wanted to learn more how to defend himself if someone got close and he was running out of chakra to use his shielding techniques. He would wait for Sebastian to try to attack or punch. Which is what Youta is expecting him to do with the stance that he has chosen. “ I know you are faster than me. But I also know that this is how to learn not to be so dependent on just my ninjutsu. So this is the training I need bring it on!” He would say trying to pump himself up.
Out of the corner of his eye he would see someone who had eyes a lot like him and thought to himself that he would have to go and say hi to this person when him and Sebastian are done.

Loghain would approach, step by step as he made his way towards his opponent. The Shinkou wasn't one to back down, and so the wolf would respectfully follow through with the hand to hand training. Despite his strength and speed advantage, this exercise wasn't just to pummel the kid, so Loghain would made certain that it was something that Youta could see coming and deal with accordingly. The wolf would launch a left jab towards the face of his opponent.
While this wasn't much beyond a probing punch. He wanted to see what the youths first instinct would be. If Youta was able to deal with it in an appropriate manner it would likely create the opportunity for the kid to do a follow up. Should he not take the proper actions Loghain would likely have to teach some of the basics and play "tag" with him.

Toran’s eyes darted towards most of the other students that had arrived during the morning cardio. While learning the necessary body flicker technique was indeed useful, as it allowed him to use the famous Substitution jutsu. Toran felt mostly alone or lacking in actual combat techniques or potential. He only had one lightning jutsu to his name for starters. Which was pointless if he didn’t have the power to back up what his name meant to enemies. Being a part of the Uchiha clan was seen to be both a blessing and a curse. Some were even scared of him, fearful of him potentially having the crimson eyes bless him.
His face tightened at the realization of something rather annoying, he couldn’t even use the Sharingan on command, it was based on an emotional vulnerability. But he didn’t want that kind of emotional vulnerability. He kept hoping that if he just trained his eyes somehow he’d awaken his Sharingan eventually, that’s how it worked right? However he found that he didn’t even know where to start. Looking around to see all of the others were focusing on jutsu that the Hokokage was teaching them.
“I should just pay attention to the cardio itself rather than be in my head, it’s disrespectful to him that I don’t at least try and work with everyone! I was late for crying out loud!” He thought to himself. His eyes resting downwards towards the ground. He wasn’t even sweating when he should be drenched in it vn if it was only a cool autumn. Moving himself to where he was inside of a sparring stance of sorts, beginning to throw out punches and kicks all around himself, his small fists making contact with the air itself, but to no one in particular unless they decided to walk near him, hopefully he wasn’t making a fool of himself, but training was training, something that he needed especially during this time of constant bickering between the villages and tensions rising.
He finally was beginning to sweat for himself, nearly jumping for joy as Toran finally felt some sense of accomplishment for a simple five minutes sparring session with the wind. His face a bright smile as he continued now. His taijutsu was poor compared to others of a similar age. His speciality was considerably more ninjutsu based then Taijutsu. Which up close would be a problem if it wasn’t for something that he always had a decent interest in. Which was the world of illusions and how to change and manipulate them to be as subtle as possible. The smallest details was something he found fascinating about genjutsu, and that was also something that the sharingan could help him with. Which pushed him to go forward and continue until his body dropped to the floor. Until then he’d continue his work in the cardio workout, wanting to make his leader proud as one of few Uchiha inside of the village.
The exercise almost became a competition for the younger Genin, almost a challenge to see who could drop first. Toran’s skinny frame couldn’t match some of the beefer students that were also working out. He finally felt sweat trickling down the rest of his body, trying to clean himself off of the smell and stickiness. It felt almost embarrassing to request a towel or wash down by someone. Cursing under his breath that he didn’t even think about getting a towel or an extra pair of clothing. Toran’s breath wheezed out, like a dying windpipe desperately coming to life. Feeling his legs give way Toran landed flat on his ass, wincing at the slight pain while he was trying to breath.
His breathing slowly returned back to normal, coughing out some flem and spittle that got stuck inside before returning back to a standing position. It was here that an epiphany came over the young Uchiha. He remembered that he could potentially channel chakra to his eyes. It was a rather risky plan, but it was better than doing nothing or only exercising for another hour. He snapped his fingers before signalling a tiger hand seal, clasping his hands together while his fingers remained pointed upwards. It was a better attempt than before at awakening the sharingan by force, but for Toran this was everything to him right now.
The chakra began to flow upwards towards his eyes, making him wince at the effect when the chakra hit his eyes. But instead there was nothing, no increase in vision, no difference in feeling. It was almost as if he did nothing at all with the chakra he had. The sharingan seemed to be unobtainable for right now, but for Toran this was only a challenge that he needed to deal with. However to call him desperate was an understatement, he was an Uchiha after all, desperation was in their blood.
Banging his head against the dirt, Toran was trying to awaken it, he felt so sour about this when he never really cared about it beforehand. One day he was able to use it all the time, and now he couldn’t even bring up the urge to talk about it. He was like a broken motor, needing to be fixed and changed so that it works. He felt so disappointed that he couldn't use the Sharingan, believing no one else could help him out of this funk.
“Why can’t I just do it?! It’s not that hard to just place chakra in your eyes? So why is this so difficult!” He screamed in his head, Toran still not realizing why he unlocked it, only that he used it once but never could use it after that. His emotional state was a hazy mess of jumbled up memories and faces of different shapes and sizes. He turned his head to see others were sparring or were being taught by notable Chunin, and here he was, standing here like a chicken without its head, his face still holding the same bright smile, as he was smiling, but found it funny he couldn’t do anything.
