A Chance Encounter

Ty had been feeling like he wanted to try something new. At the start his idea was to try and fight with just his hands and feet alone, but that was mainly out of necessity. Being dirt poor didn't leave a lot of options usually. His father's medicine didn't leave a lot of room in the budget for a sword or even a decent kunai. After actually going on some missions and making money however, Typhon finally had some jingle in his pockets. 

"I'll just take a look around. I don't NEED a weapon after all." He thought to himself as good enough rationale to go shopping. After strapping his mask on, the young Canopic would toss his hood up over his unkempt hair and head in to town.

It felt good to not be starving for a change. Having some spending money was a luxury he hadn't had since his mom's passing. Becoming the sole provider in the house is rough stuff when you're just a kid. Ty walked with a little spring in his step and a smile behind his mask. He was looking for a ninja tool shop, nothing fancy. Just somewhere he could get some steel in his hands. The town was bustling as usual and people were fluttering in and out of every building on the street. A little shop with a rough, hand carved sign stood out to him. Ninja Tools Plus was a cheesy enough name to pique his interest. Ty hadn't seen the place before and figured it must be pretty new. He decided to go in and check it out.

The inside of the shop showed a certain degree of pride. The shelves were cheap and the rugs were clearly home made, but it gave the appearance of pseudo wealth. The owner of the shop probably wanted to prove himself and his wares. It was worth having a look around. There were blades and clubs lining several racks on the wall. Display cases housed ornate knives and small tools like caltrops and chains. There was a lot to look at.

Having a look at the prices Ty was pleasantly surprised. A lot of stuff looked like it was within his price range. He decided if he was going to have a choice, a sword would be the best place to start. He peaked around through a barrel of swords until he found one that felt good. It was a katana with a black handle. It was sturdy and as far as Typhon knew it was a good sword. He payed the man at the counter and walked out of the shop with a fresh sword in hand. He had on a big smile though it would be hard to tell under his mask.

He had to at least test the sword out before going home. Ty was pretty excited to feel what it's like to wield a weapon. With a spring in his step he would head to the water gardens and look for a spot to train for a little while. Upon arriving he would see that the gardens were mostly empty with only a few people here and there. It was the perfect time to practice.

To start he would just draw the blade and give a few practice swings, gripping it with both hands.

Ty spent a good amount of time swinging his new sword and getting a feel for it in his hands. He felt confident holding the blade, but not yet competent. For now he would need to keep fighting with hand and feet. All it meant was more training in the future.
