Blossoms in Haven

Marabelle made it to the Land of Haven with no discredit to the fine boatsman that aided in the transportation of herself and belongings to this new land. It was a rocky path from where she docked but she eventually made it to the gates of Hoshigakure. As a prosperous village goes, it appeared to her that there was some sort of checkpoint a ways away from the gate. As a line was formed, it was something vastly different than the previously discovered villages of her journey. Thus she waited entry as a pink shilloute amongst the grays and browns of traders and such. The young kunochi had not been to the mainland before and thus, took in the view appearing almost like a lost child. Her vagabond status presented well enough on her forehead a protector without a symbol. Standing at a respectable 4'11'', or 150 cm, the only thing that set Marabelle apart from others her size was the look of a well traveled shinobi. Her physique showcased that with her tanto on her hip alongside her satchel with her medical supplies. Although her arms were covered, her legs were refined and visible with her attire reaching her knees. She would almost appear doll-like as she stood there awaiting her turn.

Another lovely morning, and Masashi was enjoying his bed as always. The sun was as good as any alarm clock. Sadly, he couldn’t lay around as long as he wanted to, so the Uzumaki Jounin got up and went about his normal routine. A note was on the front table as he walked down the stairs, detailing his tasks for the day.

More gate guard duty. It would seem that Ayato was not pleased with his friend and was making it known to him by putting him on one of the most boring tasks, at least boring for him. Watching people go by was interesting enough once in a while, but he would much rather be working on his research than sitting there and screening people as they walk through the gates into or out of the city. Masashi sighed, finished getting ready and made his way to the front gates.

It was business as usual, for the most part; Nothing out of the ordinary for the first little while. Teams coming and going on missions, travelling merchants, village regulars. Masashi sighed again; boring as usual. Then something caught his eye. A small girl, or woman with a headband that showed no allegiance. ‘Well you don’t see that every day’ Masashi thought to himself as he examined her briefly. She was short, looked like she moved around quite a bit, but was no stranger to combat if that tanto was any indication. She didn’t look like she was there for a fight, so Masashi would approach her just like any normal party seeking admission. A friendly air, a small smile, and “Welcome to Hoshigakure. I take it you are seeking entrance?”

Marabelle took her leisurely time through the proceedings at the gate's entrance. There was not much to do while waiting for her time to be assessed at the gate. It was different than that of Otogakure's process but alas Hoshigakure stood quite differently than the village of the Land of Sky. The history was different, the heritage was different, and the shinobi were different. Upon her time to be vetted by the shinobi at the guard, a tall man stood before her, he seemed slightly older than herself and she bowed at the words he spoke towards her, answering formally, "Hello. I am seeking entrance to Hoshigakure." She began indicating her intent at a minimum before addressing why she approached. With uncertainty on how best to proceed, she was aware that as a guest there was some leeway though she was not accustomed to the proceedings of the village itself, many thoughts buzzed around

Thus she waited for a further question to be asked, something to be prompted as she was unsure how best to go about the plan she had and felt it would be impertinent of her to go asking for an audience of anyone in a village she had no contacts in nor knowledge of anyone present. At this point, she felt the need to elaborate further before any assumptions might be made, "I am here with the intent of looking into prospective partnerships." She was no one of importance and she meant to keep it that way for as long as she could. Her goals and plans revolved around anonymity of various degrees but she was acutely aware that there was always a time and place for such theatrics. The gates of one of the major shinobi villages? Definitely not the time nor the place for such actions. With a shinobi standing before her, it was obvious that there were going to be some eyebrows raised towards her, she understood this well enough and was thankful that Otogakure was open for her to come into their village with much stricter precautions in place. Walking into Hoshigakure should not be that much harder as she hoped there was not going to be some random medical test presented to her in some fashion as her cousin did in the woods of the Land of Sky.

The newcomer bowed respectfully to him when he addressed her, and she did indeed confirm that she was seeking entrance into the village, with the intention of looking into prospective partner. He would return the bow with a bow of his own. “I see,” he would say, looking at the young woman pensively. “I won’t keep you long, just have a couple other questions. Firstly, may I have your name please? I will also need a list of your belongings.” Once she answered he would ask his next question. “Do you agree to abide by the laws of the village, and respect our customs for the duration of your visit?” Should she agree to do as he asked, Masashi would write the information down on a nearby scroll and pass it along to be documented in visitor records.

Marabelle nodded along as the proceedings continued. "My name is Marabelle Blossom, it is very nice to meet you, sir." It seemed like a simple line of questions as she reported on her items and gave a nod of affirmation on her satchel being the container for most of them. A few items lingered on her body versus her bag but it was not a huge issue of descriptions for the records. When the time came to question the laws and customs, Marabelle did not speak initially. "Are there any specific laws and customs that I should be aware of? As I am here to explore and learn more about the village of Hoshigakure, I do not wish to step on any toes accidentally. I hold myself to a high standard and do not foresee any issues but if accidentally using incorrect honorifics lands me a penalty it would be appreciated to be made aware at this time." She retorted.

It might have been a surprise to Masashi as her stature proved to be inconsistent with her actions. The formal speaking and mannerisms befit someone who did not look as young as her but it was apparent that this flower blooming was of a different breed than most vagabonds lurking around the world. She stood resolute in her function as she did not seem to waver with the idea of what was to come. Marabelle adjusted her satchel accordingly as she also rummaged for a small balm and applied it to her lips. The sea travel was not as smooth as she anticipated compared to her wandering on foot through the Eastern Continent. Her lips chapped slightly but it appeared her homemade remedy was enough to help her lips from drying out as she stood awaiting to be allowed in.

So her name was Marabelle. Not a name that he recognized as being in the bingo book, so nothing really to worry about there. It also didn’t seem that she had anything serious on her person, so he felt there would be no need for her to surrender her equipment. “Nice to meet you as well Marabelle. I am Masashi Uzumaki-Akari.” He paused for a moment to consider her question, “our laws and whatnot are posted on information boards throughout the city,” he said, indicating a notice board not far from the gates. “The most important law to follow is that organ transplant surgery is outlawed, with the exception of transplants purely for the purpose of improving someone’s health.” As he explained, she decided to rummage around in her bag and pulled out a small container which she opened and started applying the contents to her lips. “I believe that covers all of it. You’re welcome to ask any Hoshi-nin if you require assistance or clarification on anything. Welcome to Hoshigakure.” He would move aside to allow Marabelle passage and would return to his post, provided she had nothing else to say.

Marabelle nodded in recognition to the man before her, "Thank you Masashi-san. As a medical professional, I can understand the need to dissuade the need for transplants outside those of dire need." She took mental note of this to keep in mind as she looked towards the gate of Hoshigakure. Her journey started so long ago, but only now it felt like it had truly begun. With the permission of Masashi, Marabelle strode onward into the village Hidden by Stars. There was much to see and learn and another village to work with hopefully. If the man at the gate was any telling sign of an accepting and welcoming village.

“Ah, so she was proficient in medical ninjutsu as well, eh?” Masashi thought to himself as she walked past him into the village. ‘That’s useful information to know.’ He would write that down beside the other details he had collected during her entry screening and then went back to work. The rest of his shift passed uneventfully and was relieved by the next person on guard duty at the appointed end time. Masashi then left the gates and made his way home to eat and get ready for bed.
