界王和 - Kaiowa
Basic Information
Age: 20
Birthday: February 11th
Gender: Male
Height: 6’
Weight: 160 lbs~
Appearance: Kai is a gaunt, lithe man with shaggy black hair and even blacker eyes. His skin is an ashy gray and his hands are unusually dry. Halfway up his right arm is covered in bandages to cover scars from limb-loss and stitches. The way he moves is almost uncanny, as if his inner workings weren't aligned properly.
His outfit is relatively simple: a simple long sleeved robe, dark green with gray trimmings that flow an inch past his fingertips. This is paired with black pants and shinobi sandals. He often walks with his hands in his pockets. When it’s bright out, if he’s anywhere to be seen it is with a shady hat.
Personality:
Kai is a curious man who loves to learn and practice, namely about medicine and improvement. He’s generally a friendly person who believes in the power of friendship, violence, and deception. He displays a laid-back disposition, a stark difference to the level of discipline and honor he holds himself to when he works. He has a disposition toward the sun best described as 'heliophobia.'
Likes: Studying, cooperation, understanding people, being occupied, gloomy days and nights, his water bottle, the cold, delving into secrets nobody should know.
Dislikes: A bad attitude, being bored, disorganization, the sun, the heat.
Nindo: “What doesn’t kill me doesn't get a second chance.”
Greatest Dream: To find and end Samui
History:
[Halcyon Days]
Like many others, this boy was abandoned by his parents at birth, found by monks and brought back to their temple. He had no name until he was 4 years old, when the monks chose to grant him the name Kaiowa. He preferred Kai.
Kai was often ostracized for his uncanny mannerisms and writhing skin, and found solace in the library. He was interested in what differentiated others from him, manifesting in studying anatomy and medicine. For years he worked tirelessly on every patient he received, often sacrificing sleep to ensure he was able to save whoever came in next before it was too late. After a particularly harsh and sleepless night, someone new came in, placid faced and dressed in yellow.
[The Golden Games]
Samui was a mysterious woman in yellow who brought the word of the sun to the temple. She claimed to be a master of her own craft and through unnerving guile, was allowed to host a pre-graduation ceremony: the Golden Games. Kai fell for her charms through appeals of taboo knowledge and self-improvement, and welcomed the games.
What followed was a death trap. The Golden Games was a battle royale to the death, where heads are turned in as prizes. The games lasted until the sun set, and that sun seemed frozen in place, radiating cold instead of heat. The water ran out quickly, gotten by the frozen sun if not down someone's throat. There is only one victor in this terminal festival.
The games culminated to a final fight between Samui and Kai, and after he won, he was left in the dark. The sun had finally set, and Kai was left with the ashes of the life he sacrificed. The image of that woman in yellow was scorched in his mind, and he knew he didn't really win.
[The Scorching Cold]
Now Kai is wandering, plotting his next encounter with Samui and a course to obtaining the power needed.

VAGABOND PROMPT: DEFECTING THE VILLAGE [WC: 528]
Away. The destination was ‘Away,’ and how he got there didn’t matter. Why she came to such a place mattered less, it was a reason belonging to someone else. Someone else who may have wanted something, but for the life of him he couldn’t figure out what it was. Whatever it was, it was something that could only be found after a very long time spent in the dark, and like him, was not the same as it was going in.
His feet were taking responsibility for moving him, mindlessly marching Kai forward. His right hand was still gripping his kunai like it was the only thing keeping him alive. Just like he was taught. He moved in a manner befitting the student of his master despite rhythmic flashes of heat in his head after every other step. Each pain a beat in the life he used to have. A low rumble was felt throughout his body.
The flashes brought images of his former comrades, of the beautiful temple he used to dwell in, the books he lost himself in, the yards where he would train. It burned and strangled him, the knowledge that they were forever lost to him. The ever present heat of anger he’ll have for himself for sacrificing everything. It was suffocating, his steps slowed nearly to a halt as his head was filling up with louder noise, his guilt threatening to trap him here forever.
A slight breeze brushed his lips and with a sharp inhale he froze. In that slight pause, he realized the rumble was the sound of his prize, something he was deprived of for a long time. His feet were brought back to life as he felt the air become cooler and wetter around him, cooling his seething mind. Before he knew it he felt the trickling water along the walls and knew he hadn’t drank in ages, lapping that sweet nectar right off the wall.
Kai groped in the dark for the source of this water, only to find himself stumbling and sucked into a rapid current that shot him through a tunnel. He stopped and spun for what felt like his last moments before being sucked through the floor, and shot down into the treetops. He crashed through the branches and hit the ground like a dead sloth. With great effort and apprehension, Kai lifted himself off the ground to check his surroundings, up into the sky only to find the shining moon above the trees.
He recalled vividly what happened after he pulled his kunai out of Samui’s skull. It was a mocking, smiling fire. Blazing and maddening yellow. All that was left was ashes in every room he checked, every one he passed seemed to be cremated where they fell. The Golden Games had concluded, and Kai was its champion, but not its victor.
All that was left was ashes.
“Humanity sheds its skin,” he repeated the secret to himself. “The cycle of the greater scheme...a new god is born.” a smile crept on his face, and tendrils crept from his lips and writhed wildly. “Maybe I should give it a try.”
