Hill Race [solo, NK]
Thu Mar 20, 2014 4:20 pm
The boy was waiting there again the next day. Flinglass really needed to teach him how to speak correctly, but that would probably be a waste of time anyways. That morning, Flinglass climbed the red hills to find the boy standing there, doing the iron cross.... Flinglass waited... and waited.... wow, this boy could sure hold the position for a much longer time then Flinglass himself. He felt more than a little envious of this, until he realized that the kid was fast asleep. Indeed, he was snoring. Well, that explained quite a bit. What an odd child, to be able to do it in his sleep!
Flinglass tapped the kid on his shoulder, and he jumped, cursing in whatever mountain language he spoke. He then stopped suddenly, and blushed. You couldn't tell if he was smiling, because of the mask-like hood and mouth-covering he wore. the only thing you could see was the upper part of his face. Well, he was obviously embarrased. "Vat.... ooh, werry sorry am I.... fell asleep..." Flinglass chucked. "Don't worry about it. That kind of thing happens to all of us." Ugh, falling asleep on the challenger's bench in Fight Club. That was the absolute worst, especially when the announcer kicked you out of your beauty sleep by screaming your number over the loudspeakers.
Well, Flinglass laid out their plan for the day. First up, a race. Flinglass had placed a stick in the earth at one end of the hills, and they were supposed to race to it from the other side. Any kind of attacks and ninjutsu were completely legal, so this was more of a battle to the finish line than a professional race, but that was how life was for a shinobi.... or so Flinglass assumed. It was safe to think that nothing was safe, if that made any sense.
Well, the boy gave the signal, and the race began. Flinglass started running as fast as he could, avoiding big inclines, but the other guy was bouncing from side of one hill to another, gaining ground quickly. Flinglass activated his chakra booster, and went even faster. Soon, they were going neck and neck, Flinglass' chakra-boosted speed keeping up with the other ninja's enhanced agility. Just as they were nearing the finish line, Flinglass winked, and teleported to the finish line, winning the race. Whoo! That was one of the most enjoyable things he had done recently.
Next up on the list was one of his own personal customized workouts. It was the one that he had done when he had been on hiatus from Fight Club, the one where the neighbor had intruded in on him. Stupid people, they were always having their dirty minds and whatnot. Well, he wouldn't be having any of that. Such things were essentially disregarded by him. Well, after the workout, they rested for a bit, and Flinglass tried to impress upon the other boy the properties of proper syntax. As it turned out, it was like teaching an emotionless alien how to sing proper campfire songs.
Well, they were done for the day. He waved goodbye to his training partner, and started the short trek back to his own room. It hadn't been too bad of a day, and he felt himself getting gradually stronger. Yes... indeed, he could feel his body producing chakra easier and more efficiently. It was almost time for him to attempt jutsu on a much larger scale, ones that would hopefully secure him some attention in the next chunin exams. Also, he needed to look out for more competition...
