Unexpected Turn of Events (Stein)

Kotsuzui eventually made it back to the safety behind the walls of his village where he probably would not encounter any more strange beings. Though he did find Stein to be a peculiar person, he was kind of happy Stein found him. The stranger was willing to show Kotsuzui some basic jutsus for him to practice on his own. Was this a ploy to merely get Kotsuzui to become stronger so he would be a better test subject later on, or was he sincerely teaching Kotsuzui because he had plans of taking him in later on as one of his pupils? These, along with many other questions floated around in Kotsuzui's head as he strolled across Konoha with his heads behind his head making his way to the training grounds. Upon arriving, Kotsuzui noticed many other shinobi training, as was quite common among the training grounds. It was only normal of the ninjas of Konoha to be training as to improve on their skills. After all, with the lack of a Hokage, someone was going to have to fill the spot otherwise if other nations found it they could be planning an attack. It made Kotsuzui wonder, if he ever became strong enough, would he take up the mantle of being the Hokage? The idea certainly intrigued him, to be recognized as the strongest shinobi in Konoha would enlighten him. However, Kotsuzui was somewhat of a lazy person and would not be able to handle all the responsibilities that came with being Hokage. But then again he could always get other people to take care of the boring and tedious stuff for him.


As he thought about this ludicrous idea, he finally found a spot in the training grounds where he could safely train on his own without interruptions. Now he started to think back to everything Stein had showed him, the first jutsu was the creation of the rock staff. Kotsuzui found this particular jutsu quite useless as he bloodline allowed him to create his own weapons with his bones. But he was going to learn each jutsu one by one as Stein had showed them, or at least he would try. Also, it was probably an easy first earth jutsu to learn and a good way to practicing manipulating the earth. Thinking back to how Stein did it, Kotuzui performed the one handed tiger seal and with his opposite hand he slapped it onto the ground. Flowing his chakra into the ground, Kotsuzui imagined pulling the earth from the ground. With the image in his head, he stood to his full height as he lifted the hand that was on the ground. As he did so, a section of the ground lifted with him as he pulled a poll of earth along with him. Grabbing a hold of the earth staff, Kotsuzui began swinging and twirling it around him. "That was easy" he though to himself as he practicing striking a wooden piece of log with it. "Well that's that" as he stopped swinging the staff and held it in his right hand.

Next on the list came the basic healing jutsu. Looking at his left forearm, Kotsuzui held it out in front of him as he raised the earth staff in his right hand. Multiple times, Kotsuzui swung the staff down onto his own forearm. He did not cause any real damage, only some minor bruising as his solid bone structure was capable of taking most of the impact. He put the earth staff down leaning it on the practice log and followed by placing his hand over the bruising on his left forearm. Flowing his chakra back to his hand, instead of imagining himself controlling the earth, he picture his chakra being an ointment. As he did so, he could feel a cooling yet tingling sensation on his left forearm where his hand was placed. After on a few moments, he removed his right hand only to reveal that the spot that was just red and blue had returned back to its normal complexion. "Sweet" he thought as healing his own injuries would definitely come in handy.

The next thing he remembers Stein showing him was a sealing jutsu which placed a marking that could be used to track or even summon someone. Kotsuzui could definitely see the use for this jutsu, but learning sealing jutsus was not his concern at the moment. He did not plan on specializing in the use of sealing jutsus. He was going to leave those ones for last, assuming he even felt like it by that time. So next one on his list was the one that removed pain. This one was useful as it would make performing certain medical jutsus easier if the patient wasn't suffering from pain. It would also allow someone to fight harder if they weren't feeling any pain from the enemy's attack, but that could end up being bad in the long run. Thinking back, Kotsuzui performed the set of seals Stein had, and then channeled the chakra back to his right hand. This time, instead of channeling it to his palm, he pushed it further sending it to his finger tips. As he did so, the chakra flowed out of his finger tips looking like blue fire seeping from them. Kotsuzui was afraid that stabbing himself with all five flames would be too much for his body to handle. As precaution, he channeled all his chakra back into his body except for his pointer and middle finger. Now only two blue edges of chakra protruded from his fingers. With that, he stabbed the two chakra points into his forearm where he had just healed the bruising. Pulling the chakra tips out moments later, he sent his chakra back into his body as the tips vanished. Kotsuzui went on to lightly rub the spot he had just stabbed, but could not feel his own fingers against his skin. He then went on to slapping his own forearm, yet still no feeling in it. "Damn, that's intense" he said while punching his own forearm only to not feel anything.

Now he thought back to the next jutsu Stein showed him all while still slapping his sensation-less forearm. The next one Stein showed him was one that allowed the user to either lift or raise a section of the ground. This could be used for many reasons, maybe act as a wall to block something, get someone out of the way of an attack, or catch the enemy off guard. Going down onto one knee, Kotsuzui clapped his hands bringing an equal amount of chakra together at the point of contact. He quickly slapped his hands onto the ground in front of him. Concentrating on the section of earth directly beneath the training log, Kotsuzui sent the chakra in his hands to that point. Once he felt like he had sent a sufficient amount, he picture the earth separating, and it did. A square section of earth around the training log separated and lifted 5 meters into the air. Once it reached its full height, Kotsuzui continued the jutsu as he sent the earth section back down only this time sending it five meters underground. After doing so, he aligned the section back with the ground making it seem as though he had never done anything. "Sick" he said as he got back up to his feet.

Next was the one used to travel underground, and once underground Stein also used the opportunity to pull the twig figure he made into the ground. Stein gave an explanation to the use of this jutsu, stating you had to flow chakra to your hands and imagine it like a hot knife through butter. But Kotsuzui thought about it, and there must have been another way to go into the ground other than having to dive into it. Diving into the ground seemed impractical and just left you open to attacks. Instead of using your hands, Kotsuzui thought why not use your chakra and make the earth soft enough to travel through. This seemed like a practical alternative to Kotsuzui for it allowed for easier access into the ground and would also allow him to counteract an incoming attack from an enemy. This was new to him, so it may take him a bit longer to get this one down compared to the others. Closing his eyes, Kotsuzui began sending a flow of his chakra down his body towards his feet. Using his feet instead of his hands now, Kotsuzui began pushing his chakra out of his feet and into the ground surrounding him in an attempt to manipulate the earth and turn it into a fine sand which would allow for easier access into the ground. At first Kotsuzui could feel the earth beneath his feet softening up as he began to sink, but it ended there. He merely created what looked like a pot whole, but the earth somewhat kept its density. Focusing harder, the Kaguya sent down more chakra into the ground as he could feel it dispersing into the earth all around him. Shortly, Kotsuzui could actually feel himself falling into something that felt softer and smoother than earth. Opening his eyes to look down, he noticed that a small section of the earth around him had been turned into fine sand and that was what he was falling into. The idea of going underground somewhat frightened the Kaguya, but he quickly pushed aside his irrational fear of getting stuck in the ground and relied on his ability to manipulate the earth. With that, and a deep breath, Kotsuzui plunged into the sand like water as the sand above him turned back to earth preventing anyone else from entering with him. So his surprise, he did not need to hold his breath and could breath rather easily under the ground. "This is... it's amazing" he said as he began moving around in the ground. Though it was dark as night, the Kaguya knew exactly where he was within the training grounds and even knew where the other shinobi training above ground where. It was a strange feeling, almost like he could sense them. This would be perfect to launch surprise attacks on people, there were so many possibilities when it came to this jutsu it excited the Konoha Genin. Now came the next part, pulling something into the ground as Stein had done to his twig figure. Being able to feel what was above ground, Kotsuzui made his way to where he had placed his earth staff against the training log. With two rapid movements, Kotsuzui ripped his had through the surface grabbing a hold of the weapon, and rapidly pulled it down back into the ground. Soon after his head cracked through the earth and he began pulling himself out of the ground. Once out, he slapped off the dirt that remained on his clothing trying to clean it as best as possible.

"Fuck, what was the next one" Kotsuzui said as he scratched his head trying to recall what the next jutsu Stein had showed him was. "There was the rock fist, which he then showed me how to heal broken bones, some earth river thing...oh wait!" he exclaimed, remembering what had been shown before these jutsus. "He showed me one that shot earth projectiles, then create an earth spike out of the ground. But so many hand seals for the projectile one" as he let out a sigh, trying to remember the long set of hand signs used for the earth projectile jutsu. "Dog, tiger, was it dog again... no it was snake the dog again. Then I think it was snake rat... or rat snake?" Kotsuzui mumbled to himself as he did each hand seal as he said them, trying to remember what the sequence was for the jutsu. "Why the hell is it so long anyways?" Kotsuzui asked no one, showing clear signs of frustration. But after a short time of rehearsing, he got the order down. "Dog, Tiger, Snake, Dog, Rat, Snake" as he formed each one and slapped his hands onto the ground like most of the other ones. The ground in front of him trembled as he flowed his chakra from his hands into it, but that is as far as it went. "Da fuck?" Kotsuzui said puzzled. Not the outcome he was expecting. Staying in his knelt over stance, he re-performed the long, unnecessary set of hand seals, this time focusing more condensed chakra into the palms of his hands. Slamming them against the ground once again, this time harder as he sent the chakra flowing into the ground. This time the ground ahead of him cracked as the outlines of the stones that were going to be shot were clear, and some of them did rise up a bit, but none of the moved any further. Maybe Kotsuzui was having more trouble with this one because it was the first time he was shooting the earth away from itself, unlike the other jutsus where the earth was usually in contact for most of its creation. Instead of re-performing the jutsu, he merely sent more chakra into the ground and pushed harder, nearly cracking the ground under his hands. The stones formed by the cracks shook a bit, and with a little more time, chakra and forcing, they shot out of the ground in a spray of rock bullets smashing into the training logs in front of him. Many of the stones he shot missed as they shot in a large spray, but there was no one behind to get hit by them. The ones that did hit the logs hit with force, cracking them and nearly shattering them to splinters. "That's more like it" the Kaguya Genin whispered as he got up to his feet with a grin on his face.

Kotsuzui had just learned a total of seven jutsus within the past couple of hours. It was pretty draining on his body, he could feel his bones and muscles shaking, needing a major rest. He looked around as he thought about where he could go to possibly get a meal of some sort to replenish some of his energy. He remembered seeing some noodle shop not too far off from the training grounds that he had passed on the way by. He could remember the aromas coming from the place, just the thought of it made him drool a bit. "Good idea" he said as his belly roared and grumbled, letting the Kaguya know he needed to feed himself. But before leaving, he formed a seal with is one hand as he held out the other one, palm face down. With another release of chakra, an earth staff rose from the ground and right past Kotsuzui's hand as he grabbed a hold of it. "Did not even have to touch the ground for that one" he said with a sly grin on his face, proud at his own progression. With his earth staff at hand, he left the training grounds headed for the noodle shop. The whole way he was twisting and twirling the staff around himself and his hands trying to get a better feel for the weapon, one he did not really see himself using much. But for the time being it could be a pretty useful sparing tool.  Upon arriving to the noodle shop, Kotsuzui leaned his earth staff against the wall of the building and he brushed aside the hanging flaps and sat down on one of the stoles. It looks like a bar top, but instead of it serving alcohol, which Kotsuzui was very familiar with, they served bowls of noodles. It seemed like a popular venue as many people were coming and going, taking out or choosing to have a seat as well. When the man came for Kotsuzui's order, he stumbled a bit as he had not even looked at the menu yet. "Umm... I'll take whatever you got on special today" he stated. The man nodded and smiled, as if to ensure Kotsuzui that his choice was a wise one.

After only moments of waiting, the bowl was placed in front of him with a set of chop sticks. Just by the smell of the steam rising from the broth Kotsuzui could tell there was a variety of mixed spices in the soup. He hoped it wasn't to spicy, as his stomach may not agree with it in the long run. Eager to try it, he snap the chop sticks apart and dug in.

"God damn that was good" the Kaguya said, already on his way back to the training grounds while rubbing his belly with one hand and twirling the staff around the other hand. "Just what I needed to get back to training." He arrived back at the training grounds, unfortunately his previous training spot was be used. However it was just around lunch time so many of those who had been training left for something to eat, allowing a wider variety of options for training spots for the Kaguya. He chose one that was rather secluded, surrounded by a number of tree. However the sounds of other training shinobi could still be heard. With that, he pushed his earth staff back into the ground it came from and clapped his hands. "Lets get back to business" he said while rubbing his hands, feeling surprisingly optimistic. Kotsuzui was not usually one to be excited about training. On ordinary days he usually skipped training sessions to pas by a bar. But his sudden progress has given him a boost.
