Learning Clone Jutsu
Sun Sep 18, 2016 8:56 pm
For once, when Kōmori woke up, he felt full of energy and ready to learn the clone technique. He looked around the apartment and it seemed like his brother Kōmon had already left. “I suppose he must have already left to train already,” he thought to himself. Kōmori decided he should get going too. He did not want to let his brother show him up after all. He got dressed in his standard black and blue hoodie and left his apartment.
Once he stepped outside, Kōmori could tell it was going to be a beautiful day, as he saw the clear blue sky above him. The shining sun and cool mountain temperatures made him think that today was going to be a perfect day to train. He felt lazy walking, so he began to sprint across the Hidden Cloud. Kōmori wanted to get started right away, and the training ground was on the complete other side of the village. After about ten minutes of running, he made it to a clear patch of grass.
“This look like as good a spot as any” he said to no one in particular. He began to think about the homework his instructor Gorami had assigned to him earlier that week. He had to learn both the Clone Jutsu as well as the Transformation Technique by the next class. The workload was going to be tough, but Kōmori knew he had to do it in order to become stronger and avenge his mother. If he could not even become a genin, then he could never hope to face her killer.
Kōmori spent the next few minutes trying to recall the hand signs for the Clone Technique that Professor Gomari had shown them in class, before Kōmori came to the conclusion that it went Ram, Snake, and then Tiger. He spent at least an hour going through the hand signs like he knew his perfectionist of a twin brother would do. However, he had trouble getting the handseals down, at first the hand movements felt slow and awkward and felt as though he kept doing it wrong. Although, as he got further into his training, it began to come more easily to him. By the end of the hour, Kōmori could do it almost effortlessly within the span of a few seconds. It was around this time that he felt confident enough to try the jutsu out.
Komori began to weave the simple three step process with his hands, and followed it by shouting, “Clone Jutsu!”. Immediately after saying it, he felt his jutsu surge, and a cloud of smoke surrounded him. He waited for the smoke to clear which the anticipation made seem like forever. However, when the smoke did finally clear, he was left disappointed, as no clone stood beside him like literally nothing had happened. His first attempt at Clone Jutsu had failed, which frankly disappointed him. He was hoping to be naturally gifted.
He spent the next hour or so imagining what had gone wrong. Had he not focused enough? Surely that couldn't have been the problem. He eventually decided to test it out see if it was. He attempted to tune everything out and clear his mind, focusing on nothing except the signs he was about to weave. He took a deep breath began to weave his signs: Ram, Snake, Boar. Kōmori began to channel his chakra just as Gorami Sensei had instructed and shouted “Clone Jutsu!” to activate the technique. When he did a cloud of smoke appeared beside him and when it cleared a clone did stand before him. It was just horribly disfigured and hideous.
“Well better that disgusting thing than absolutely nothing.” Through the process of elimination, he decided that the problem couldn't possibly be concentration. He then attempted to make sure that his hand signs were the proper ones and double checked to see if they were out of the correct order. Unfortunately, he just could not remember the order Gorami had given him. Kōmori decided to go find Gorami Sensei and ask for his help.
Kōmori left his house and headed back towards the center of the hidden cloud to begin his search. He began pushing through crowds of people in search of his sensei, with every jounin uniform giving him false hope. After about an hour of searching to no avail, he realized his twin brother Kōmon may have already learned it, and headed back to the apartment to see if he had gotten home yet.
After a couple minutes of traveling he made it home to find his brother Kōmon in his room. “How's it going?” Kōmon said to him. Kōmori explained his problem to his brother and asked if he knew the order of the seals. “Yeah, Gorami Sensei actually just helped me with it.” He sat upon his bed and made the handsigns at the same time as saying, “It goes Ram, Snake, Tiger.” Kōmori realized his mistake, at that time he had been using the symbol for boar instead of tiger. It made sense why the jutsu had not been working. He quickly thanked his brother for the help and left the building.
He spent several minutes rushing through the center of the hidden cloud yet again to get to his favorite training ground. When he did, he made his way to the center of the patch of grass and took a stance. He began to practice the new signs for about ten minutes because he had memorized the sign for boar instead of tiger which continually threw him off. After a while, he seemed to get the hang of it again and felt confident in his ability to perform the jutsu.
So one last time he took a deep breath, closed his eyes, reminding himself to stay calm and collected in the process. Soon he began to move his hands and channel his chakra envisioning what he was about to create. His hands began to make their respective signs Ram, Snake, Tiger and then he shouted “Clone Jutsu!” A cloud of smoke appeared beside him and when it cleared a replica of himself was left before him. Kōmori was overcome with joy and attempted to high five his clone, to no avail. He had finally learned the clone jutsu and could not wait to show it off in class.
