“I implore you, to clear your mind and look around you once more.” Genevieve offered when Ayato had finished his statement, trying once more to see if she could calm them down to an agreement before there was a fight.

“This statue is broken, yes, by a drunken shinobi who will be brought to justice for his crimes against you spiritually; but you cannot push your resentment for all of his kind, on his shoulders. It is akin to saying that everyone who had ever helped sell you groceries at your stores or the markets, is a terrible person, because you had one bad experience and blame the whole of them for it. Do your teachings not denounce such narrow-mindedness? Do they not teach you to forgive on all levels; spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical levels? You cannot blame the whole coop for a single chicken that cannot lay eggs.

When you look around you, at these Water Gardens, look upon them well; know they are beautiful and vibrant, full of life. Your prayers have helped, yes, but which one of you had gone to war?” She asked, looking around them, “Let he who has fought physically for this great country, of your congregation, speak now.” When she heard no voiced, she looked back at the Leader, “It is your prerogative, whether you wish to like the Shinobi or not; but it is your Queens decree that they come here, and these same shinobi fight to keep these Water Gardens safe and lush, to keep your homes from entertaining burning frames and death. Perhaps you think they might even be evil; but they are necessary to ensure your physical survival. I ask all of you, to please keep that in mind amid your frustration and your anger, and toss these emotions to the wind; because no one will benefit from them. Not your Gods or your Idols, and not your children or families.” Geni concluded and took a deep breath before looking around,

“I promise upon my church and the High Lady’s name, that whoever broke your statue will be brought their punishment, and your idol will be restored to it’s former glory within a week; whether my help be needed or not, I swear it.” She told him to solidify that it was the last she’d hear of the motion and that her plan was to sate them. Quietly, she hoped that the monks would perhaps realize, that there were always bigger threats to the flock than the sheepdogs that herded them.

Miyamoto looked around as the talks seemed to increase with the emotions as the head of the monks congregation spoke to Team Winter, namely Geni with some valid points as he played off of the emotions of the area. The monks whispering around them, and the crowd at their backs murmuring just as Ayato opened his mouth in a way to begin to bring the whole affair to a head. It was as if he was just a lone watcher between the three groups there, not apart of Team Winter, not with the mob, and not with the monks...but as his own entity, and even though the situation required tact and charisma...he was there for nothing more than muscle if it was needed, he felt out of place.

So he just stood there, his stance was not aggressive, and his gaze was that of someone deep into thought.

As Ayato finished speaking he felt the urge to speak, the monks seemed to be put on edge. However, just as it seemed to show up before in this encounter, he was caught as Geni began to speak again to de-escalate the situation. She spoke of the history of the country, the lives spent fighting to make the village what it was, to bring them all together in this melting pot that seemed to be near the point of overflow. It was a beautiful speech, and as she finished Miyamoto stepped an inch closer as he felt himself back in his body no longer just watching.

“Just as my teammate has said, I am deeply sorry for the actions of someone that is among the ranks of the shinobi...I do not have much ryo, but I...I will help to rebuild the statue to its original form I pledge this to you here as a member of the shinobi ranks, not just as an escort for our dear lady here, but as a child of this village…”

He would begin as he looked to the rest of the team knowing this was the only thing he could do in terms of making up for his past misunderstandings. He would slowly get on the ground, kneeling before the monks and the crowd he would kowtow to the monks hoping that this would help ease the tension.

“Please end this demonstration...as the fair lady has said we will bring whomever it was that broke the statue to justice. We must come together as a people. IF you must hate the shinobi, then do it, but we need harmony to prosper not separation.”

Miyamoto would say before bowing his head as he looked down at the ground.

The priestess spoke immediately after Ayato, who like everyone else present in Gazebo would remain still and listen to her words. Just as many shades of her hair Ayato could not name, just as many aspects of her personality, he could no understand. Now bitter, now sour, now sweet. Geni transitioned from a polite level headed girl to a passionate speaker in a drop of a hat. In truth Ayato would never have expected the quiet and reserved girl showcase such behavior, it felt a bit out of place. Yet Ayato understood that the reason for this was more than likely to be the dismissal of her arguments from the religious zealot who would twist everything to fit his own delusion. And of course, everything contradicting that was dismissed. Geni, however, was more successful than she understood for her hammering with words roused attention from rioters and followers of the man. And perhaps with his imaginary fail safe of his followers gone, the priest would bend the knee more easily.

Miyamoto who had only been a watcher till now decided to take up the cry. Just as my teammate has said, I am deeply sorry for the actions of someone that is among the ranks of the shinobi...I do not have much Ryo, but I...I will help to rebuild the statue to its original form I pledge this to you here as a member of the shinobi ranks, not just as an escort for our dear lady here, but as a child of this village…" In Ayato's eyes offering to pull out Ryo from his own wallet to pay for the price was going too far. His next action would be more so, the ponytail Genin fell to his knees in front of this crowd of troublemakers.

But Ayato wouldn't feign surprise to this display. By now he was used to Miyamoto's overboard reactions. Yet even if this was another extravagant display from a 10-year-old, Ayato had perhaps new found respect for Miyamoto. In an attempt to defuse the explosive situation, his teammate was swallowing any pride he had in his own world and showing genuine concern for the better of the village. Ayato had to wonder if Miyamoto in front of him was the same one that cried his eyes out after the mission in the city's underground pathway system not too long ago. Or the one that got tricked Ser Axwell Florent into letting his guard down. Ayato wasn't the person to shut his eyes on what he didn't want to see. The Hyuuga had his own issues in regards to his temper, evident from how he was the one who what initiated that battle, but is a different thing exploding after years of pre-justice and another to doze off in the middle of combat.

As expected, the preacher was the one who spoke, once again. "The statue of the father, fixed you say. Justice to the one who defiled it you claim. Years back I stood vigil on the statue for a fortnight, asking the lord for a strong son in my wife's womb. Even I believed her to be barren yet I craved for an offspring as I did to living. Two months later she was with child. A miracle." He rose his hands to the sky, putting emphasis on his words." I will not abandon the father over empty promises. When the crown protects the faith only then, we shall rest."

"Stone did not give birth to your children it was your wife that did. " Ayato argued, his shoulders tensing up. "Unless your children are gargoyles, that is." He thought but it would be for the best to keep that jape to himself. Speaking of pre-justice, people indeed had the ability to turn deep seeded anger into violent outbursts, and that broken piece of rock could only be the spark required to lite the monk's fuel. But Ayato figured that any other incident could have just as easily forced to turn on shinobi like they did today. Regardless, thank the trio this spark was about to be defused. The whispers of the monks enveloped Gazebo and it was the only sound in the world for a while. Their faces appeared frozen in time, white masks of different expression. Some were in anger; definitely the religious ones who were adamant into believing chakra was a cursed power, but they were only a few. More of the monks had an expression of awe due to the surprising turn of events. And finally a few of them exhibited a sense of relief; those were the cravens at heart and their will was the easiest to break. But they all had one thing in common; they all struggled to fully wrap their minds around and truly understand the situation.

"No matter of what I may believe you heard our argument. We will carry your word to the Queen and tell her about the broken idol. We will even deliver justice to the one who did it. All we need to know is that you and your...friends, will cease all activity and disperse from this place." The priest raised his arms and Ayato himself from another preach but the man hesitated. Suspicion and greed watered his eyes. He wanted to believe them yet he feared the empty promise. "Lies are a common trade for shinobi."

"We will put our promise in writing," Ayato vowed. Some commoners illiterate or not held writing in disdain, others seemed to have a superstitious reverence for the written word as if were some sort of magic. Even more powerful than ninjutsu. Fortunately, the religious zealot was of the latter. "Your names amount to nothing."

"Aye, but that of our Queensguard sensei does, I think." Ayato assured him.

Claiming Mission rewards for Build a Chuunin

(OOC: Geni cannot post right now, so with her permission, I'm posting exit and claimants for her character. The situation IC has been resolved and she has provided the amount of words required towards mission completion - 1914/1400.)

Miyamoto looked up as preacher began to speak once more. It made him grit his teeth, but he withstood the urge to backtalk as the preacher only spoke in acute coincidence and correlation to the family and the metaphysical. A play to try and galvanize the public one last time before Ayato interjected. The whispers seemed uneasy, but then as Miyamoto stood up, Geni was silent, and upon reading the scene he could tell that they were finished there. As Ayato began to turn away and walk out saying that there would be promise in writing as the perpetrator would be brought to justice by their hands.

Without a word Miyamoto just turned from the scene and followed his teammates out and away. As they cleared the crowd Miyamoto sighed and thought to himself that he was a disaster and could have made things much worse. Instead of speaking to his team he simply nodded and then walked off towards his house, he needed to think.
