A not so rough past

There he laid, still like the hour hand on the clock across from the bed on his right. He had no desire to move from his nest, the reason being his troubled thoughts. Every now and then, his mind would rewind back to the past, a moment in time when he shared a cell with one particular individual who saved him from going insane in prison. No, it wasn’t his mentor he had come to accept as a father figure. This was later on in his sentence. Every so soft the bunk orders would change, except those with enough “favor points”, to keep things how they were.

That one person, who happened to be around his age, became quite close with Katsuragi. As he laid still he remembered when the two would also exchange jokes to one another, no matter what subject; as if they were brothers almost. The times back then, he now saw himself pretty lucky to experience all that while being locked up. To leave with almost eveything intact after serving a long sentence.

What was he doing now, Katsuragi thought. His own sentence was two years shorter than his. But the two always thought about doing jobs together when they got out. How they were going to live life and take back what was taken from them. And if need be, go out with a bang. Never, were the two going back to that prison.
