Campfire Stories
Wed Jul 28, 2021 8:19 pm
Sitting by the campfire Aichi thought about his next move in life. He hadn't a clear path, and had been recently taking an interest in his home village of Hoshigakure. Since his awakening life in the woods was tough for Aichi. When he was eight the Jugo bloodline inside of his body was awakened. The surge of nature chakra that he accumulated, like all Jugo, threw him out of ordinary. At eight years old Aichi still had his mother read for him, of course that ended when he severed her jaw from her face.
Aichi was jailed, and put under investigation for murder. While it was clear he wasnt someone who had typical skill with violence, the sobbing child had been confirmed as a Jugo. While he was in jail the police monitored him, wiring Fuuinjutsu seals to his body. They studied his natural chakra affinity, and confirmed he was a Jugo.
While blood lust was common among the Berserkers, Aichi had gone unconscious while transformed. This wasnt unusual, and after his acquittal the magistrate highly "advised" that he leave Hoshigakure. The people would be safer and so would he. There were no more slaps on the wrist, Aichi only had this one chance.
At eight years old it's hard to comprehend so much at once. Upon discovering his father had passed a bloodline Kekkei genkai to him, Aichi felt a lot of conflicted emotion. This bloodline caused him to attack and kill, so the young kid figured his father was an enemy. Aichi resolved to apprehend him one day, and requested books on the Jugo clan. Aichi studied, and the extremity of his situation pushed his mental prowess. A smart kid was growing into a genius.
The books Aichi read were informative, and useful. They were dedicated storage of knowledge known about the Jugo. While there were some curious points that confused him, Aichi understood his life sentence. The nature chakra infused into his blood and flesh, altering his body and mind. Along with the typical Jugo bloodline trait, Aichi was in a lower range potential who se body had a unique transformation. While most bodies were simply grey and deformed, Aichi's maintained its exact shape. His flesh became black and thicker, this variant of the Kekkei Genai was a random chance.
There was no difference in bloodlust. Aichi's early years studying Berserker Sagehood were plagued by constant side effects of nature chakra. These side effects included migraines and extreme agitation. While he traveled and explored the world he decided to master his bloodline. Aichi began to take particular care for his body andsometimes he would begin to transform and be able to keep his mind to notice things.
This is how Aichi used his knowledge from jail to understand his body. Eventually Aichi had transformed enough that he knew what he looked like. It was helpful that people made pictures if him, warning of a monster. While traveling was hard for him, it was helpful. Aichi never had to see the same face twice, and sometimes they would be faced of the dead.
By the age of twelve Aichi was incredibly proficient with controlling his body. Knowledgeable of nature chakra, in a beginner degree, the youth could even transform his arms at will. This marked the time in Aichi's life where he interacted with people the most. Aichi became curious. He wanted to be accepted, and help others. It didnt work out for him, and despite the courage and pride he had most people were fearful of him upon learning of his life.
Aichi was never able to settle somewhere fearful of being attacked or attacking. So he went place to place, taking in what he could. At thirteen he picked up a scythe to defend himself from field coyotes. This inspired him to practice martial arts, and since he was generally avoiding others he had plenty of time. Aichi was a talented young man, and despite the physical pain of nature chakra infusing into his body; there was a lot of potential for him as a shinobi.
One day two bandits attacked the young man, and he was able to perform some water release he had picked up in a learning acadamy. He had only a month of practice, but Aichi successfully used his water manipulation to defend himself. The bandits remarked he must have been a shinobi, and fled. Aichi was inspired, and decided to lurk around Hoshigakure no Satos border.
The young man wasnt ready to join society yet, but he did figure he could learn something by watching. He had been practicing some jutsu he knew of, an Chad naked Success here and there. Dedicated to growth, the Jugo decided he would study the shinobi movements. Deep inside of his heart Aichi knew he was working up the courage to ask for admittance back in the village. To address that, meant he would have to address his mother's untouched grave.
A subject for another time, Aichi out the campfire out. Using his axe hand the ninja in training covered the embers with dirt. It went dark as night, since he was outside at night. Aichi had good night vision though, and made his way to his cot. There are crickets chirping, and he checked for any spiders in his blanket. Fortunately there were none, and he crawled into bed.
Staring straight up into the sky Aichi was thinking about what he might find at the gates. Before that however, he would have to catch a fish for breakfast. Aichi closed his eyes, hoping that fish would be a perch. Sleep rolled over him peacefully, and the hopeful youth fell into slumber while a bull frog croaked in the grass behind him.
The next day had good fortune for him, and after Aichi out together some wood for a fire he left it and went fishing. The first bite was a perfect snag, and he pulled in a perch. It wasn't too fat, but nice and long. He skinned it at the river and threw the scales in the river. After breakfast Aichi decided to look somewhere near the gates of Hoshi. He figured a thick tree would cover him and he could practice spying. Aichi playfully giggled at the idea of spying on ninja, and headed out for the great Village.
To his surprise, just 50 kilometers from the gates, there was a bandit standing at the roadside. He held his hand up, and there was a tanto in his hand. Aichi was worried, despite his skill and history he wasn't practiced with a fight. He did have some ryo, and moved to his pocket. That was the wrong move, and the bandit rushed him.
Aichi was faster though, and his arm immediately began transforming. He held his blades forearm up and blocked his enemies blade. Aichi swung his foot up, and nailed the guy in his groin. He weaved back, and Aichi swung his blade again. A large gash sever the mans clothes and flesh. He was bleeding a lot and fell to the ground. Aichi returned his arm to normal, and was covered in blood.
It seemed he would need some fresh clothes before tending to his curiosity at the gates, and made his way back to the village he had gotten that white tunic from. A month later it seemed there were no more white tunic, so instead he picked a red one. He figured if he got attacked again, blood wouldnt shot. The young man, not bummed out by all this walking, made his way back towards where he planned on studying the patrol shinobi of Hoshigakure.

After a particularly busy week of working for Miss Yugetsi, Aichi was resting his tired body by the campfire again. Digging holes for the country wife was toughwork, but her husband had a bad heart and Aichi needed the coin. For six days straight he digged ten holes a day. His arms were throbbing next to the fire, and he closed his eyes.
Somewhere in between a dream and reminiscing Aichi remembered another time he had worked so hard digging ditches. This time in particular was for a man, Mr. Moegi. He was a single father who lived close to the border. With his daughter the man lived, and he needed many ditches dug for flower beds. His daughter, Moezi, was fond of flowers and he was trying to brighten her days.
Moezi was Aichi's age, and she was a lot like him at first glance. When the two first met, they didnt say anything. Even after four days of bringing him water while he worked, she rarely said much more than "thank you." Moezi seemed soft and likeable, so Aichi took a shine to her. The young teenager looked forward to her water breaks, and was thankful for her.
When he finished his tasks Mr. Moegi paid him a very small amount, smaller than originally agreed. Saichi was disappointed but he didnt say anything, since Moegi was probably right in tAichi taking too long for what the job was. The young kid couldnt help get lost thinking about Moezi, and he did spend an extra day digging.
Not three days. Aichi was furious, but he let it go since Moezi wouldnt have liked him getting mad at her dad. Also Aichi hoped to work for him again, but that wasnt going to happen.
About six months later Aichi was traveling back through the area, and stopped by to see if Mr. Moegi needed any help. To his dismay there was no answer at the door. Aichi was disappointed, and with no money to buy food from the market he waited.
The next he knocked again, and no one answered. Aichi peeked through the window, and saw a giant rat run by the windowsill. He was scared, and shouted. Still at the window, Aichi kept watching.
Suddenly the rat ran back, and a senbon was impaled through it. Aichi could hear its scream loud and clear, and was on high alert. He knew anyone with a senbon was probably a ninja. The young man rolled across the ground away from the window and leapt up into the air.
He was in the forest again, at least fifteen meter from the house, but Aichi didnt feel safe. Despite his uneasy feelings of the Moegi household, he stayed. Aichi was scared for Moezi, and watched from the woods for a few hours. Nothing happened, he didnt even see the rat again.
Aichi sat and waited, watching. He figured if worst came to worst a monster had killed them. If he knew for sure, he was planning to tell the village. Unfortunately the senbon hinted at maybe mercenaries, so Aichi was even more careful about his next move. For all he knew he was under surveillance.
A whole day passed by and no one left the house. Aichi figured the bodies were getting ripe, and that his former employer was dead with his daughter. Gathering up the courage, Aichi assumed his Destroyer Axe Hand. The black blade glistened in the moonlight, and he approached the house again.
Aichi didnt knock this time. Instead the Jugo sliced the lock of the door and kicked it in. Immediately the smell of rot was in the air, and more than that someone scattered from a corner in the foyer. Aichi couldnt make out who they were, but he followed the figure. It went into Mr. Mr. Moegis room and Aichi followed.
The source of the smell was from his room, and when Aichi breached the door he was taken back. It seemed the bodies had been dead for a long time. There were two, one skeletal even, laying on the bed. Aichi screamed in disgust.
From the corner of his eye Aichi saw a glimmer coming towards him, and trusted a chakra blade from his axe hand. Light illuminated the dark room, and Aichi saw that Moezi was the one who attacked him. She didnt look good, probably subsisting on corpse flesh. On top of that his chakra blade put a giant gash in her chest, and her pale skin was torn.
Aichi left, the girl screaming to death. On his way out he confiscated the senbon Moezi had stuck inside of the rat. It was dead now, but the senbon was good to practice with. He left, never to know what happened of the rural family of Haven.
Aichi figured the girl was like him, having some connection to chakra. The girl would serve as a reminder that some had it worst, after all Aichi had never ate his victims.
Solemnly Aichi went into total slumber, no longer remember the gory details of his past. It was a good memory for him over all, since he did become skilled with senbon Bukijutsu through that one rusty needle. Aichi was asleep, dreaming of new practice forms for him to study and gain respect with. Respect that would bring him into Hoshigakure and away from these lunatics.
