Kaito spent his morning cleaning up his new apartment. Ever since his meeting with the Third Kazekage, he couldn't help but feel... dirty. Not from the interaction itself, mind you, but from how untidy his place had been. He was embarrassed, but it wasn't so much his fault as it was circumstance. He didn't expect the Kazekage to drop by, nor did he expect his parents to be brutally murdered in cold blood before that either.
It was all just circumstance.
But from that circumstance came great reward. If it hadn't been for those experiences, the young lad would never have discovered his true Uchiha heritage, nor would he have been able to be implanted with the organ that Guren had given him. He forgot what the man called it... Sanzu... Jensu... either way, it was something to do with wood.
After dropping the heap of empty boxes in the dumpster behind his apartment, Kaito would brush off his hands against each other and grab at the place where his kidney had been removed and replaced with the other organ. It had been a few days time since that last meeting, and he still didn't feel any different thanks to it, but if Guren's words were to be believed, there was a great power that would be granted to the young Uchiha.
'Guess I'll just have to wait and see...' He thought to himself as he began to stroll back into his apartment. Upon reaching the door and twisting the handle, however, he was not greeted with the sight of his entrance hall.
No.
Instead, he was granted by the sound of seagulls flying overhead and the sound of ocean waves splashing against the beaches.
"What the hell?" He asked himself, so dumbfounded that he couldn't move beyond the door. "Raidomaru!?" He called through the darkness. There would be no reply, however; only the continued sounds of what seemed like a beach. With his heart beginning to beat faster and faster, the young Uchiha would pluck up courage and run in through the door. It shut behind him, leaving him alone in the darkness, but he carried on for a few seconds until he could see a few beams of light in front of him.
'There's the exit!'
Slamming his feet against the ground harder and faster, Kaito would lurch forward into the light with a leap of faith. This would blind him momentarily, the light harsh against his unadjusted eyes, and when he hit the ground he didn't hit any sort of tile or carpet.
He had hit something... grainy...
Wincing a bit from the pain of his fall, Kaito would rise up from the ground and look around. Again, he was dumbfounded. In front of him all he could see was what appeared to be an endless beach and ocean. There were a few people standing in the sand and playing in the ocean as well, making for a pretty lively scene. He too could see a small child getting a bit frustrated as they attempted to make a sandcastle with their little red plastic bucket and yellow shovel. Turning around, he didn't see the front door of his apartment either. Instead, all he could see was a thicket of palm trees and dense bushes.
Standing up to his full height, he could only look around in awe at it all. If it was a Genjutsu, then it was a pretty strong one at that.
"Where in the hell am I?" He asked nobody in particular, but he said it so low that he doubted that anyone would hear him anyways.

Re: Endless Summer [Kaito & Blades]
Tue Jul 05, 2022 11:47 pm
Another day at Mikadzuki Beach, and fortunately a lot more relaxing like it's supposed to be. Blades had taken the opportunity for a vacation here when he saw openings a few weeks back, swapped through the grape vine that is the shinobi underworld. It'd be a party neutral event, and any and all participants would be sworn to pacifism while in its sandy beaches, at least towards other residents. Invaders of the event were most definitely meant to be handled with extreme prejudice. That's why the ninja, kunoichi and wanderers that show up with weapons were given the benefit of the doubt; and in Blades' case? He had nowhere to put his katana anyway, so as weird as it sounds, he's having said blade attached to his hip while wearing a simple but beautiful two piece swimsuit. Both parts were white and blue, but the color profile was swapped in which overwhelmed the other on each piece, with a few star decorations, and pink ribbons on the top itself. It truly helped his true personality and self image shine, as feminine and masculine features alike intertwined to show his perfect androgynous form.
However, his vacation came with certain caveats, as he couldn't help but want to help out when he can. Today, one of the lifeguards on duty had a bad case of food poisoning, and collapsed off their high seated chair, causing a fracture on their left leg. For whatever reason, it was common for these individuals to fall ill, which was what brought the need for assistance in the first place. He chocks it up to the possibility of a weird curse that's on the shore for its workers, as believing they are incompetent was simply preposterous. Why would they be able to hold an event such as this if they were, after all? Giving into his benevolent nature, he volunteered himself to overtake the position for eight hours until they could find a better replacement. This actually resulted in him being offered a reward for his services, which he wasn't going to turn down, even if he wasn't in it for his own gain in the first place. That's just how it always is, ever since he tapped into his inner beauty, blossoming it forth from within. Deep down, he wonders if that part of him will be useful during his escapades as the Ebon Rose...
While on duty, he discovers a few groups of kids in a sand castle building exercise, and he couldn't help but notice that a certain boy was having trouble with making his own. From afar, he figures this was simply up to finesse and nothing more, and nothing less. Their enthusiasm and creativity were noticeable despite that, which is why he found it beneficial for him to saunter on over and ask what was frustrating them. It's to no surprise that they just didn't know how to make the structural integrity work out on his build, and upon being asked that question, they asked Blades for help. His curiosity piqued, he agreed, and for about fifteen minutes he began coaching them on what to do to make sure the sand would hold up better for his wonderful castle. He had these skills due to living in the deserts all his life, and knowing the way sand behaves; on top of that, he had to deal with the layouts of various hideouts for years. By now, he had to know how buildings functioned, so he wasn't getting too over his own head while scouting out a target's base of operations. This assistance was going smoothly, and the child was happily getting his sand castle up to snuff, until...
BAM! Some dude just drops on in from a random tear in space-time, right on top of the kid's sand castle! Said dude is Kaito "Inuzuka" Uchiha, though he wouldn't know that. It made his eyes widen for a split second, but he's gotten used to people dropping in like this. For whatever reason, certain folks were phasing into reality like this, and the focal point was the beach itself. It didn't matter to him, because it meant more people to meet and greet, but it did matter to the boy he was just helping. Now they're crying and being upset over the destruction of their masterpiece, and he couldn't help but feel bad, even if he had nothing to do with it. Time for damage control. As they mutter to themselves, Blades steps in front of Kaito to lend him a hand up. "You're at Mikadzuki Beach, man... and you just killed this guy's sand castle. After you help him fix it, you should probably just come with me and help me with lifeguard duty... as penance for your 'heinous' crime. Isn't that right?" he asks with a grin towards the kid, who then sniffles and nods his head with agreement. They both cross their arms and look sternly at the newcomer, but in reality they weren't quite that serious at all.

Re: Endless Summer [Kaito & Blades]
Wed Jul 06, 2022 1:42 am
Kaito would accept the individual's offer of help in getting back to his feet.
"Thanks." He said stoically as he brushed the sand off of his khaki cargo shorts and green muscle tanktop. Looking down at the ground he could see a little boy, probably no more than six or seven years-old, crying hysterically. They had a little blue plastic bucket and a blue plastic shovel to match. Whatever it was they were making had stood no chance against the Uchiha's weight, and it came crumbling down as Kaito did.
"Oh geez..." He gritted his teeth solemnly and knelt down beside the boy, placing a delicate hand upon his shoulders. "I am so so sorry that I crushed your... your..."
"M-my sandcastle!" Wailed the kid, acting as though he had just been hit head-on by a powerful technique. The boy began to cry harder and louder, and this would draw the attention of some of the other beachgoers. Kaito would blush with embarrassment.
"Yes. Your sandcastle..." He said with a defeated sigh.
The other individual standing with Kaito and the boy would then speak up. They informed Kaito that they were at a place called "Mikadzuki Beach" and that they needed some assistance in manning the lifeguard tower. Kaito couldn't help but tilt his head askew, trying to remember what had happened to him in a similar fashion only a few months before. He had been there with Yusuke, Sebastian, a man named Niento, and the Lord Third Kazekage. Then, after the realization that it had been at the "Eastertide Fairgrounds", he was able to draw the conclusion that this event and that one were similar in nature.
'Gosh. I didn't realize that becoming a shinobi entitled me to getting sent off to these otherworldly places so often...'
Kaito, feeling a bit apprehensive about the whole thing, was about ready to take off back in the direction that he had come, but upon seeing the kid continue to cry and hearing the other person's assistance in helping said child fix the sandcastle, Kaito couldn't bring himself to leave just yet. With another defeated sigh, the False Inuzuka would let out another defeated sigh and place a delicate hand upon the child's head to ruffle up their hair. It drew a bit of laughter from them, making Kaito himself smile.
"I guess that is the only fair thing to do." He replied cheerfully.
Without hesitation, he would pick up the bucket and shovel and make short work of filling them up and helping to make some awesome-looking towers. He would also show off to the child a bit, insisting on using his proficiency in Earth-Release to help sturdy the castle and ground around it so that it would not fall down. Once done with that, instead of walking back and forth between the ocean and the castle, he would fill up the mote that they made around their creation with some Water-Release generated water.
After a short while, Kaito and the child would walk about a meter away from the castle they made to admire it. Kaito placed the boy upon his shoulders so that they could get a birdseye view of it, and this made their day. This too made Kaito happy, who had been having a rough time of being happy otherwise. The experience truly did remind him of his father, who had acted just like he was when Kaito was but a child himself.
After a short while longer of spending time with the child and finishing up their sandcastle, Kaito would wave him goodbye and go off to join the other person who had greeted him at the lifeguard tower. Upon reaching them, Kaito couldn't help but feel as though he had seen them somewhere before. After thinking it over for a moment, he knew for a fact that he had seen them around before.
Not on Mikadzuki Beach, however...
Back in Sunagakure.
"Excuse me?" He asked them after a moment. "This is going to sound like a weird question, but are you from Sunagakure? I swear that I've seen you there before in passing." Kaito would allow them to respond before nodding and smiling. "Well its nice to meet you. My name is Inuz... uh... Uchiha, Kaito." Still not used to saying his real name out loud, Kaito almost always found himself stammering when he said his name. It was perhaps a bit embarrassing for him in the moment, but it didn't really matter. He would surely get used to it over time. "Please give me just a few minutes to go find a pair of swim trunks. I can't rightly be a good lifeguard if I'm dressed in this tanktop and khakis."
After about fifteen minutes, Kaito would return with his long brown hair down and draped over his shoulders. He had removed the green muscle tanktop he sported before, revealing his rather toned body thanks to his time as a Taijutsu specialist, and he had also switched out his khaki cargo shorts for more comfortable red-orange swimming trunks. He still sported his dog tooth necklace; the only remembrance of his old ninken Kawomaru. That necklace would never leave his neck, not for anything in the world. It just meant entirely way too much to him to remove.
All in all, however, Kaito felt rather out of place. In his almost fourteen years of life he had never been to the beach. Hell, it was only a few months back that he had been to his first major festival and had his first drinks of alcohol.
'I really do live under a rock, don't I?' He asked himself.
With a bag carrying his regular clothes in tow, Kaito would shortly meet back up with Blades. He sat the bag down in the sand next to the lifeguard tower and proceeded to climb up the one next to their new companion's. The feeling of the ocean breeze upon his face felt odd, but nice at the same time. The sounds of the waves crashing blissfully and carelessly upon the sandy shores resonated with him as well, and it all made for a rather relaxing time. He couldn't stay too relaxed, however, as he was now officially on lifeguard duty. He had to stay vigilant.
"So," He would say, leaning his head in slightly towards Blades. "How did you get wrapped up into lifeguard duty? Did you volunteer?"
Blades' answer, if any, would be cut off by the sounds of people shouting from the ground below. Kaito looked down to see many people pointing out into the ocean, where about fifteen meters out into the open sea was a person frantically trying to keep their heads above the water. They were not having a good time of it, either, as harsh waves would crash down upon them and thrash them about violently. Without hesitation or warning he would stand straight up in his chair and jump down to the ground before bursting out into a run out into the ocean. He made sure to flow some of his Chakra underneath his feet, and because of this he was able to walk upon the ocean water. It was unlike anything he had ever experienced in his life, as this water was much more rough than the water back in Sunagakure, but he would perserveer.
He would not allow anybody to die on his post.
With only five meters left to run, the person's head bobbed down underneath the water. This time, however, they did not clamor back up above the surface.
"Gah!" Kaito exclaimed as he frantically dove down into the water below. The waves were pushing against him in all directions, but a few feet below he could see the drowning person. Wasting no time, he would face the waves head-on and wrap his hands around them before pulling them and himself back up to the surface. He would await help from Blades, as there would be no chance in hell of him being able to get the person back to shore himself, but once they did get back safely, Kaito would begin the CPR process. It took a few tries, but soon enough all of the water from the person's lungs would be cleared and they could semi-breath normally again.
After this, Kaito would take things easy the rest of his and Blades' shift. Thankfully, no other major events would plague the remaining seven hours, and small talk and laughs were had between the two of them. Once their replacements arrived, Kaito would take his reward and go off on his own to explore.
"It really was nice meeting you!" He exclaimed with a happy and respectful bow. "I'm sure that I'll see you around."

At the very least, no matter how long it really took for Kaito to accept his peer pressured fate, he eventually succumbed to the 'demands' of Blades and the little guy that needed help in the first place. Winking in his direction with one hand in the shape of finger guns, he chuckled joyfully and took a few steps back, deciding to watch how the two interact with one another without his interference. "Glad we could come to an agreement. I'll be here, but I'm going to keep an eye out for trouble while you do that." From there, the sharp toothed individual scanned the wide but not varied surroundings, one hand on his hip, and the other on the top of his forehead to block out the sun, like a visor hat almost. From what he can tell so far, everyone's enjoying themselves, there's no dangerous wildlife, no one trying to pick a fight, and overall the merriment is shared by the majority. "Being a lifeguard sure is easy when no one is drowning," he thinks to himself, brushing his hair off to the side and turning his attention back to Kaito and the child with the bucket and pale. Seeing as they're finishing up, he gets to talk to the mysterious Genin himself. What did he have to say?
That they'd met in passing, possibly. It made sense if they lived in Sunagakure, though with how dense and empty headed he could be from time to time, he himself never recalled the 'Uchiha' himself. For whatever reason, they stumbled on their last name, which got an amused head tilt out of him, but he ignored it and figured he's just nervous from the way they met earlier. Either way, he shrugged and reached out to give them a proper handshake if they accept it, friendly in his expression with a sunny smile. "Eh, I don't remember you, but I do the rounds back home a lot, I suppose. My name's Blades. You can decide whether or not you believe that, but that's what I'd like you to call me. No last name, though." Fiendishly grinning after saying that, he perks his head up at the acceptance of helping, and he gives the guy a thumbs up when he excuses himself for a quick change. What a lucky guy to have had a spare set of clothes when he got swallowed up by space-time. Only a couple of minutes pass before he's back.
"Suits you nicely. Let's get to work~" he briefly comments on their attire, before beckoning him over to the twin guard towers, and taking a seat in his own to overlook the premises. Again, not much is going on, until Kaito decides to grab his attention once more with another question. Since it was non intrusive, he shrugged and answered honestly, putting his arms behind his neck, casual in his tone. "Yeah, pretty much just volunteered. I like helping out, if it wasn't obvious enough already. Just because I'm on vacation doesn't mean the world will stop needing it... as much as stopping everything at my beck and call would be convenient. Oh well. So, wh-" Before he can continue his conversation, he notices at the same time the conflict brewing in the horizon. A poor sod is struggling against the waves, and they just so happen to be the closest lifeguards available. Time to spring into action.
Similar to Kaito, he activated the Surface Walking technique to run across the crashing waves of the ocean, though he elected to let him take the lead in assisting the drowning guest rather than going for it at the same time. He knows he could have helped, but in this situation, it'd be better to grab them both out of the water when Kaito had done his part, as he could tell with the utmost certainty he'd have much more strength to work with in comparison. This assumption turns out to be correct, so as soon as their heads poke above the water, he bends down to grasp them out, dragging them to shore with a great deal of speed, though being careful as to not hurt them along the way. Finally, they put the helpless person down on their back, away from the direct shoreline, and Blades helped with the CPR procedure by helping keep count of the rhythm necessary for proper resuscitation, as well as keeping an eye on their vital signs. That was the end of that, as after they began to breathe again, the rest of their shift goes rather soundly.
Blades had no desire to talk about anything else special after that situation, so he kept it all to small talk with Kaito for the last seven hours. He talked about his love for song and dance, as well as the fact he helped run his grandfather's smithing shop on his off time. This also allowed him to express that lately, he'd been taking his responsibility as a ninja more seriously, though if questioned on what kept him from doing so much earlier, he disregarded the question by mentioning he needed to help take care of his grandparents at the time... which, while true, was ultimately not the entire truth. They didn't need to know what else he was up to. The sentiments shared with him at the end were mutual, and he smirked giddily in response to meeting this odd but competent fellow. "Yeah, nice to meet you too, Kaito. Take care of yourself; and if you ever need a new piece of weaponry or armor, you know where to find me." Alone, he went back to his vacation bunk, to rest away the night and wake up for a brand new day of relaxation...
