Appearance:
A multi-tier gem that emits a rainbow hue when exposed to direct sunlight. This gem is always warm to the touch, even in frigid environments.
Backstory: An extraordinarily rare stone, this sediment has said to appear around the world only once every few hundred years, and though there are many debates as to what exactly causes the sediment to be present but it is widely believed that the stone has a unique tether to the same essence that is one's soul.
Effect:
This material is particularly sensitive to the energy given off by the spirit. When properly tempered into an appropriate item, the unique composition of the gem makes it perfect for reinforcing the weak points in an armor. In the hands of a skilled smith, this gem can be woven in a special pattern or dusting that allows the augmented item to glow whenever it is within 10 meters of a soulless body (a body that formally had a soul but currently does not) or a bodyless soul (this includes projection and phasing style effects that remove the spirit from one's body).
Legends say that a big enough sample of this gem can be used for a rather unique soul-binding ritual.
