Frigidity lands - Page 3 Empty Re: Frigidity lands

Mon Feb 13, 2023 3:54 pm
Running through the thick layers of snow was insanely tiring for the young shinobi. Both Ty and Sebastian were usually quite quick on their feet but in this case they were clearly at a disadvantage. The thief was annoyingly capable of staying out of their reach. He even had the audacity to verbally taunt the two ninja. Typhon wouldn't consider himself a prideful person, but the taunts were cutting as sharp as the cold air on the back of his throat. When Youta ensnared the little rat Ty immediately let out a sigh of relief. He didn't know how much longer he would have been able to keep up that pace, and he was already losing ground anyways. When the authorities finally arrived they looked totally unsurprised with who they were picking up. The man must be a regular trouble maker in the town. That likely explained why the guy was so good at running away.

After reading out the new scroll that had appeared everyone would set out towards their destination. The factory was an interesting looking place that didn't seem to fit in with the surrounding buildings. The front door of the warehouse would swing open and what appeared to be a child in a pointy hat and green spandex would step out. The child would form a series of hand seals which would cause a puff of smoke. After the cloud cleared there would be three large sacks sitting in the snow and the child was gone. The group looked over the task at hand, delivering presents to the local families in this village, and came to the decision that they should once again split up and divide the labor. Seb would grab a bag and head off with his usual quickness but not before designating a meeting place for them to return to once they finish the task. It was a simple thing, but Ty wouldn't have thought of it on his own. Youta seemed rather excited about the task actually, though he did bring up a solid point. It did seem like it would be easier for them to simply heal this "Santa" person with medical jutsu. Especially considering that two of the group's members were experienced in medical techniques. The young Canopic wished he had the same enthusiasm as Youta, but he was already beginning to get cold and he was still tired out from chasing after that thief. The chilly wind was picking up speed and each breeze felt like blades against his cheeks. It was certainly not the most comfortable environment to be running around in. Still, complaining about it wasn't going to get him anywhere so he clapped his hands against his cheeks to get the blood flowing and readied himself to move quickly. Once he felt properly hyped up he would grab the remaining sack and start moving.

Only about two steps in he would realize that there was something strange about the sack of presents. On the outside it looked like any regular old red bag filled to the brim with boxes. But for whatever reason the whole thing was as light as a feather. It was a very convenient way to transport all these gifts. Being completely honest with himself, Ty was dreading having to lug around a heavy bag while moving quickly. Now he felt much better about the situation overall. With the unexpected lightness adding to his speed, the green eyed shinobi would start at the top of his list and work down from there. He wasn't sure how this was usually done, but he hoped it was alright for him to leave the gifts stacked neatly on the front porches. Not wanting the snow to cause any damage he would give a quick knock on each door before jetting off to his next stop. Pretty early on in the process he would notice something peculiar about the houses in this town. Despite the bitter cold out, not one house on his list had their fireplace burning. It had to be something to do with the holiday, but he got an idea on how to make his deliveries even faster.

Ty would look around to see if anyone was watching him at the moment and when he saw the coast was clear he would take a hefty leap off the ground and onto a nearby rooftop. He nearly lost his footing on the slick roof but managed to catch himself. He would need to be a little careful, but he was pretty sure he could handle it. Starting a bit slow he would lower the gifts into the chimney of the correct house. For whatever reason the boxes of presents did not seem to fall like normal. They instead slowly floated down the brick stacks and landed gently in the home. He was once again confused by this extremely convenient turn of events. Was all of this simply some shinobi technique, or was it something like magic? He couldn't sense any chakra from the houses or the bag of gifts but he wasn't ready to start believing in magic yet. Either way he was thankful for the help. He started to gain confidence in his present delivering abilities as he went along. He was no longer hopping gingerly from roof to roof. Instead he was taking big leaps and landing with more grace than he thought was possible in the snow. He was even having a little fun with the job. He felt like some kind of phantom thief sneaking from place to place, cleaning the whole town out in an evening. Only instead of stealing he was actually leaving things behind.

He wasn't trying to stay hidden at this point either. He was having too much fun doing flips and big jumps because the snow was softening each landing. Ty couldn't help but wonder if the people inside the houses could hear him hopping around like a playful rabbit up there. He figured that the gifts floating down the chimney would be a more pressing matter for the occupants. As he went along he started to think about what might be inside each of the packages he was carrying. Some were quite heavy outside of the bag as if they were holding something made of stone while others were as small as an envelope and just as light. He thought back to the warehouse where they had picked up the bags originally and wondered if all of these gifts had been made in there or maybe they had been manufactured all over the place and only held there for final delivery. It was definitely not a delivery service like any he had seen before. The packages were all wrapped in decorative papers and many were even tied with sparkly bows. They were clearly presents for the people they were addressed to instead of regular mailed parcels, but the shear variety of things he was carrying was very odd. There didn't seem to be any postage or return information. No notes attached to the gifts to explain who they were from. Certainly not a weight limit either as some of the things were bordering on absurdly heavy. Despite the way all of the packages floated down the chimney stacks, some of them were making him nervous that he could hurt someone should he just drop it down. He eventually landed on it being some kind of special program that this Santa character and his company run for this town's holiday. It seemed like a nice gesture at the very least as it seemed like every single home in the town was getting presents.

A little more than halfway through his list Typhon would stop on a flat rooftop to take a breather. He cleared a little circle of roof for himself so he wouldn't be sitting in snow and then plopped down. His tiredness from earlier was mostly gone, but it was obviously only because of the adrenaline rush he was feeling from doing acrobatics. He knew a crash was incoming, and rather worryingly he hadn't thought about where he was going to spend the night. That thought would have to wait for now though. He needed to finish this up and get back to meet up with the others. Maybe he could stay with one of them when this was all over. From there he would stop with all the fancy jumping and just get the job finished up efficiently. In the end he figured he hit almost a hundred houses and made pretty good time. Despite that he was still the last of the group to return. He'd walk up as his two companions were talking to a man in distress.

"Of course there's something else going on tonight." he would mutter to himself as the thought of getting to sleep seemed to slip away.

Apparently there was a kidnapping by some kind of cult. They stole an infant and were planning to do some kind of sacrifice of the child to achieve immortality. This was the type of stuff that put Typhon off from religion. Even well meaning people could be convinced to do wild things like this if they were convinced it was for the greater good. He felt a bit bad for worrying about getting to bed with something like this going on. The trio agreed to try and help as they all felt that it would be unforgivable to look the other way, and they were pointed in the direction of the criminal's hideout. Sebastian would leave the strategy up to Ty and Youta in this case. Ty wasn't very sure of his abilities as a strategist, but he was going to have to try his best here. Youta suggested making a big distraction while letting Sebastian sneak through and rescue the baby. It was a good plan, but without knowing the number of enemies it would be pretty reckless. He suggested that they split the distraction tactic and make it into an ambush.

Once they arrived at the hideout they were faced with high standing walls and a large stone gate. He wondered how all these massive structures kept popping up in this town without him noticing, but it wasn't the time for thinking about that. They had a baby to save. Typhon would position himself on the wall right above the gate while Seb would hide on the wall and wait for an opportunity to sneak in. Youta would kick the whole thing off by launching various exploding techniques over the walls. The sudden assault definitely caught their attention as mere moments later the sounds of people mustering for battle could be heard behind the wall. About a minute into the attack the gate would open and a large group of armed men would pour out from it. They didn't seem like shinobi but they also clearly weren't simple civilians. Likely mercenaries or former soldiers, making them more dangerous than he anticipated. Ty had hoped they would be able to solve this problem without any bloodshed, but as he watched from above, Youta was engaged in deadly combat. He would put the backup plan into motion and unlatch his mask letting it fall and hang around his neck. He would quickly perform the handseals required and start spraying a thick green cloud of gas down on the back line of the group. They were all focused on the fight unfolding between Youta and their allies and it was too late for most of them to even react to the sudden gas attack. He could never get used to the way people reacted to the Canopic virus. The sound of chakra blasting against skin and metal was suddenly drowned out by the agonizing screams of the first few to inhale the gas. The organs in their bodies were already liquifying and death would claim them soon enough. He couldn't focus on the horror of it all as the few still standing and not already engaged were now charging towards Typhon with intent to get revenge. He couldn't blame them after what he had just done, but he also couldn't just let them kill him here. He lowered himself into his animalistic fighting stance and began to drip oozing purple sweat from the palms of both of his hands and seeped out of his gloves. Six men in total started to circle around the green eyed shinobi. Three of them were carrying spears but the other three were unarmed. This was likely not as dangerous as some of the training situations he had been in, but this would also be a real test of his combat prowess. It was do or die time.

"At least with this level of concentrated virus you won't live long enough to feel like your comrades did." He would say as he let the purple mixture drip into the fluffy snow. He was hoping to bait out the reckless and angry opponents first just to make things easier if he could. The cheap taunt seemed to work well enough as two of the spear wielding men yelled and charged at him from either side. Just before they made their thrusts he would drop prone to avoid the strikes. As their attacks sailed into nothingness he would give a quick slap to the thighs of both men. Within an instant they would fall to the ground and begin thrashing around like stubborn children. The remaining four were clearly shaken by the scene and even more so when the two large men fell completely still only a few seconds later. With a few worried glances at each other the last few men fighting broke off and ran in scattered directions. Ty wasn't going to chase after them and so he just let them leave. He had never really thought about how visually terrifying it must seem to be on the other side of his attacks. He would have to keep that in mind and try to incorporate more fear tactics into his strategies. If it meant conserving energy and not having to take as much life it would be worth exploring. Now that the soldiers had been cleared there was only one step left. Right on queue Sebastian would step out of the gates with the newborn in hand. The operation went a lot better than Ty expected, but he still felt bad about the loss of life. He wondered if they should clear the bodies, but if they were locals it would be better to let their families take care of it. Despite being cultist criminals these were probably the loved ones of some people and he would feel horrible if he just decayed them away without giving people a chance for closure.

Once the infant was returned it seemed like it was finally time to stop for the day and take a rest. That happy thought lasted a couple moments before the trio was whisked away jarringly to a new location. He would always hate the feeling of this odd teleportation no matter how many times it happened to him. The new location was almost barren with very little to see besides a massive golden piñata in the shape of an animal. It stood out like a beacon in the darkness and for whatever reason he felt an intense well of anger inside him just looking at it. It appeared he wasn't alone in this feeling as Sebastian had taken it upon himself to shift into his wolf form.

The unexpected sudden shift in tone caught Ty off guard as his friend savagely ripped into the piñata. Whatever it was, it was apparently not inanimate as it began to retaliate as soon as it was damaged. Odd looking tentacles burst out from the tears in its body and lashed at the ninja. Youta suggested using fire which Ty couldn't argue with. He would produce a kunai and attach an exploding tag before hurling it at the Creature. His contribution was not that impressive, but the combined effort was evidently enough as the thing fell to the damage. All that was inside afterwards were some golden tickets of some sort. Each one of the men would take one for themself before being transported again.

Ty had to catch his breath from the constant change in scenery but once he was finished he realized he was back in Hoshi! At least he would be able to sleep in his own bed tonight. He rushed home trying not to think about all the questions he still had.
