The Hideout Guide

Hideouts
Hideouts are unique areas controlled solely by those who own them. Be the Missing Ninja looking for a safe place to relax, Simple Mercenaries that wish to have a base of operations or Criminals that may be performing unethical activities they want to keep hidden. Only Missing Ninjas and Vagabonds can create a Hideout. These hideouts can serve many purposes to those who own them, marking their territory as owners by one specific shinobi or even a group. Within the said territory, they are the ones in charge. However, they can use these areas as a black market hub, a simple hidey-hole, or a base to plot destruction and mayhem—the endless possibilities.
These hideouts are not invisible to the world at large, and the locations of these hideouts can be found should one investigate the area it is in, but there are ways to make this harder for anyone looking. Hideouts, like villages, can be given defenses to help keep them safe, along with notable additions for the owners to use while inside. These upgrades use a similar template to village defenses and operate under similar rules. However, Hideout upgrades are generally more minor and less significant than village upgrades. Just because an upgrade for a village has been approved does not mean something similar will be acceptable for a hideout.
Hideouts are purchased with Ryo. When a hideout is purchased, a subforum is made for it with varying categories based on the Rank of the hideout. (Hideout entrance comes free with each Hideout and does not count towards the subforums) The members may split the cost if purchased for a group. Hideouts may be acquired through a mission/contract that may include a ryo cost; should that be the case, the total required WC of this mission would be half of the hideout cost after subtracting the additional ryo needed for the task. It should be noted that all costs are cumulative. Whilst a hideout can be purchased and immediately upgraded to a higher rank, the cost for that upgrade and all upgrades in between must be paid.
As with Villages, Hideouts must have a stat page detailing the appearance of the hideout, its layout, and any upgrades it has access to using the Hideout Report Template. A staff member will pin this page to the Hideout entrance upon creation for easy access. Similarly, exit and entry into and out of a hideout will be done in the forum designated with the Hideout's Stat Page, this mirrors how Village Gates works.
Foxhole
At this point, the 'hideout' is little more than a hole in the ground, a location barely large enough for even a single full-sized room and unable to be genuinely defended or even improved without expansion. Still, it serves its intended purpose as a bolthole well enough that you can't complain.

Safehouse
At this point, your Hideout is starting to come together. Indeed, it is more than double the size of the Foxhole, so it is large enough to be comfortable for you and a few others, but at the same time, there is always room for improvement. It is so much larger also means that you can install a few more defenses in case it is ever invaded, but there is only so much you can install in such a remote location.

- 4 Rooms.
- Limited to 3 hideout defenses.
Upgrade Price: 50,000 Ryo
Ninja Den
At this point, it is safe to say that your Hideout has grown more extensive than what is required for you and some friends to hang out comfortably, nearing the point of a complete-blown base of operations for a Vagabond organization or even a shady group of Missing Nin looking to plot their evil schemes. You have far more options for defenses at this point, but as ever, life outside of village walls is dangerous, and in this world, there is no such thing as being too paranoid.
- One main Forum.
- 6 Rooms.
- Limited to 5 hideout defenses.
Upgrade Price: 100,000 Ryo
Shinobi Safehaven
Your Hideout has almost reached the pinnacle of what you could get it to be, having grown far more significant than even more extensive than what one could expect from a small town in overall size. It is almost a wonder that you have managed to keep it hidden by this point, but by some miracle, you have managed to do so, and it will stay that way for as long as you are wise. You have opened even more avenues for the defense of your new base, but as always, the threats you face are numerous, and there is no such thing as too many.
- One main Forum.
- 8 Rooms.
- Limited to 7 hideout defenses.
Upgrade Price: 150,000 Ryo
Sanctuary
Your Hideout has indeed reached the pinnacle of what you could realistically hope to achieve, nowhere near the level of one of the "Great Villages," but certainly something that could easily rival one of the many Black Market hubs across the nations in terms of size, and those could indeed get quite large. You have more than enough resources and space to craft as many defenses as you wish for the territory you control. The only question is whether you want to spend your hard-earned money creating and purchasing them.

- 10 Rooms.
- Limited to 10 hideout defenses.
Upgrade Price: 200,000 Ryo
Hideout Upgrade Guidelines
Hideouts of any size can gain access to defensive upgrades; these upgrades vary on your imagination and can be created by a hideout owner or a member of the hideout if more than one member uses the hideout.
Hideouts can use their various upgrade slots, as detailed [here], in various ways. However, some restrictions that differentiate them from standard village upgrades should be noted. It should also be noted that upgrades must remain consistent with the lore or construction of the hideout. For example, a volcano hideout may have lava-related defenses whilst a much more in-depth explanation would be required for lava to be present in a wetlands area.
Overall upgrades are meant to strengthen a Hideout from its base form and add unique characteristics to the hideout differentiating it from villages/other hideouts. If a character manages to create a hideout inside a Ninja Village, then said hideout won't be covered by the village's defenses or be affected by benefits from that village's upgrades.
Whilst the price of a village upgrade will be assessed on a case-by-case basis, a guideline of prices based on the scope of the upgrade may be found below.
- Minor upgrade affecting a single room - 30,000
- Medium upgrade affecting the entire interior of the hideout - 60,000
- Extensive upgrade providing a defensive aura or effect that extends into the outside world - 90,000
KEEP IN MIND YOU STILL MUST PURCHASE THE HIDEOUT UPGRADE BY POSTING ON THE HIDEOUT STAT PAGE AND DEDUCTING THE COST FROM YOUR CHARACTERS FUNDS TO GAIN ACCESS TO IT. JUST GETTING IT APPROVED DOESN'T SUFFICE.
To remove an upgrade, you must post on the hideout stat page requesting the demolition of the upgrade, and you will receive half the purchase cost of the upgrade back when doing so.
