The arrow that made its mark
Sat Feb 24, 2024 11:08 am
Three days before the chunin exams, Okisho was wandering about in the Akimichi district. Studying the fine print of a rather very lavish, and laminated menu he received from a restaurant. As for his own attire, Okisho is a minimalist, so it was nothing too flashy and void of any logos. He is seen wearing a simple all light grey shirt, and a pair of dark navy-blue slacks which stop at the top of his ankles. A single ninja pouch concealed underneath his black shirt. His shoes are standard issued shinobi editions, revealing his toes and back ankles. His shinobi headband is tied tight against his forehead, but not so much to cause any discomfort.
He had just made reservations for two at a popular steak house; their beef was said to be of top quality, grass fed, A5, the works. But due to the meticulous care, it also came with a hefty price. The reservation alone set him back a few thousand ryo, just to cover the deposit on securing the table. Not to mention the fact that he was informed that a 22% surcharge would be add to the bill. The fine print he examined before served the warm warning to him. 22%... It was said the surcharge went towards the enrichment of the Akimichi Clan and the staff. School, housing, etc. Also it wasn't a tip, just a separate charge on top of the gratuity fee. But why? was somebody not tipping?
"...", he was speechless. As a minimalist, this was just egregious. This was the first time he'd seen such a charge. 'Enrichment, perhaps the Uchiha should start charging people this surcharge too whenever someone enters the district', he shakes his head while passing by a few shops. The day, however confusing it was, was his. He was off with no other missions assigned to him. Curtesy of having being enrolled in the chunin exams. He folds up the menu and continues onward, allowing life to throw yet another curve ball. Hopefully something he could actually afford this time.

Kurai had been wandering around the village of Konohagakure for a while now and knew most of the paths to take. She had her cloak on her as typical but let the hood rest on her shoulders to appease some of the more stirred souls of her. Whenever something was to become a bit of a problem she would instead of covering up, she would apologize and just leave. It was not often such situations would arise but since the time on Hokage Rock, there was always something irking her about the whole situation. The Phantom was not struggling in this time thankfully financially and she kept to a more minimal lifestyle to start so her time has been relatively pleasant so far.
As she was walking she had found herself wandering into the shopping district once more. It had just passed the time of love and affairs and her mind wandered back to the time on Hokage Rock. The sky was so pleasant and wonderful that her focus had slipped with her bow and launched an arrow toward a couple. It was significantly embarrassing to call herself a huntress and accidentally release an arrow outward toward a populated zone. She was fortunate that no one got hurt but it did stir a rumor about her wandering in the village. Her mind was wandering once more and it was not until she looked up that she saw Okisho walking the streets in opposite flow to her path. She had observed quite a bit of ruckus recently with the chuunin exams ongoing but she remained distant from that part of the village.
With Okisho now in her path, she recognized the Uchiha promptly and her heterochromatic eyes gave the flint of recognition. She felt it was best to give a light bow of her head as an indicator she recognized the shinobi and she let her head fall a bit further than a greeting would be to indicate she was staying out of trouble. It was clear to her that the shinobi of Konohagakure was on top of their regulations and rules within the village and it would be best to dismiss the notion of her being a trouble maker with consideration of Goto being the individual who let her in, in the first place. It was with that she was unsure of the response and waited to see what came.

A familiar face was now in sight. How could he forget those eyes, belonging to the same individual whom he met on Hokage rock. He grows a bit self aware of his tendency to comment on others eyes. Perhaps it was a feature he found most interesting among all the rest? Of course, an Uchiha who marveled, downright coveted, the eyes of others. He sure couldnt get over Nokino’s, that’s for sure.
He takes note of the bow, affirming that this indeed her. Regardless of what happened, he didn’t feel a need to press her more about the incident in a negative manner. He wasn’t prompted too, and was much to mature to hold grudges; even though he was almost hurt by her arrow. However, since she was still in the village, he figured a simple follow up wouldn’t hurt. Just to be on the safe side. Still, he remained cautious of the hunter.
He moves towards her while shifting through traffic. Once he caught up to her, he would at her side, walking at the same pace to keep up. As for his own attire, Okisho is a minimalist, nothing too flashy and void of any logos.
“Kurai, right? I didn’t expect you to be in the village still. I’d thought you’d be back in Tanzaku Town, or moved on in search of your sister else where.
Then again, you are a huntress. Perhaps you are following up on a new lead for work?”
He found it quite odd at first that she would be hanging around in the Akimichi District. But then again, as he just stated, she was a huntress. Perhaps she made connections and had a side hustle? He could only surmise so much at the moment. He really didn’t know what she favored to hunt, be it man or beast. Did she even have trophies? He gathers his thoughts, his mind ran wild with thoughts.
Suddenly, after gathering his thoughts, the single thought of trophies gave him an idea. An idea even he thought was quite clever himself.
“Would you happen to still have that arrow you flung towards Nokino and I? I‘d like to have it.”, he asked with a direct tone. His eyes slighly narrowed towards the anticipation of what Kurai would say. He’d hope she’d still have it. Also, while giving her his attention, he‘d already reached inside his back pocket and retrieved a black wallet.

Seeing that Okisho recognized her and aimed to catch up, she slowed her pace down. Being on the best of behavior involved also being courteous and as much as the involvement in question of the two was in a negative moment, there was not any hostility coming from either of them. Rather indicative of the whole accident fact of their first encounter. Encountering a second time may be something more akin to fate at this point and perhaps there was merit behind the thought. As he got up closer, she took in the minimalist before her and gave a look over at the man now that she was not in a panic. He was relatively fit and seemed levelheaded. The initial thoughts she had did not seem to deviate even from a different setting.
Once he was close enough, he initiated the conversation with a prompt confirming her identity. She gave a nod in affirmation that his deduction of who she was, was correct. With the added information about his expectations, she gave a forlorn look toward a different direction before returning her focus to the Uchiha. She gave a light nod at the follow-up question, "I had some business I needed to resolve first." She clarified for him as she put a thought to the way she answered. Perhaps she should have clarified further but seeing Okisho pause, she decided it would be best for the young adult to flex his thoughts. It was not long before he added another prompt about the arrow. Her eyes began to widen as the initial question came up to only relax when he gave the prompt of why he was interested in it.
Seeing him indicate that he wanted it and was beginning to pull out a wallet, Kurai adjusted her strap to move the quiver for her to pull out the only five arrows she had. She pulled out all 5 in the street to reveal one of them slightly dented on its tip. She had been meaning to fix it but the time just never permitted for her. Since Okisho was interested in it anyway, perhaps he had better use for a blunted arrow than the huntress. Putting the other arrows back in their quiver and the strap to put them back where they once were on her body, she held the arrow that had found its way in between Okisho and Nokino not too long ago on top of Hokage Rock.
She looked at the arrow before turning her attention to Okisho. For whatever purpose he desired the arrow was not one of hers as it seemed he was willing to pay. "Whatever you see fit for the price." She indicated with a degree of curiosity but one that she kept sated beyond the comment. Once the transaction completed she took note of the amount and would move about her day as it seemed like Okisho had plans made already and ones that involved the arrow, not the Phantom.

He smirked at the offer, it was up to him how much he was willing to pay for the arrow. Forunately, for her, he felt rather generous today. Him wishing good fortune for him to come in the future. He wasn‘t a religious type, believing in some old man in tje sky keep tally of everyone‘s past actions. However, he did believe in universal force called Karma. He‘d seen it in action many times. And for what he had planned, he‘d need every ounce of it.
“Very well, 5,000 ryo should be more than enough. He extends the cash towards her, in exchange for the blunt arrow. Just glancing at it brought him back to Hokage Rock.
The flashback was, refreshing. It was as if he could still smell that lavender smoke coming from the amazon who found him peering off the balcony. Karma. He couldn‘t remember what good deed he did that day to be awarded such a audience with her.
He was right to aquire it, it indeed still possessed the reminiscing aura. He had to have it.
“Good Day, Huntress… and thank you.”, he said should all go as planned. Okisho makes his way elsewhere with the arrow in hand, held close to avoid injuring anyone else including himself.

With the transaction complete, the blunted arrow that had made its mark in between what seemed like a couple of shinobi was no longer in her possession. Instead, a hefty amount of 5,000 ryo now took its place. More than enough to replace the arrow and then some. Giving a soft nod at Okisho's comment, a smile came upon her face as she bowed her head lightly, "Good day to you too. Not a problem." She added before making her own way, away from the part of the village she was in. There was more business to complete before departing.
