Rising to New Heights

Upon the completion of the weary travels, Quinn Foster maintained a steady pace upwards into the Mountains to a clearing that had began to be made into a new village. Never faltering on their journey there so far, the Forgemaster was ready to lead the people who had forsaken not one, but two homes now. They took it upon themselves to leave theirs and to support those who wished to help see the success of the principles of Otogakure rise within new lands. The Land of Fang had a new Beast to deal with now.

Quinn strode forth waving on the crowd behind them, "Let's continue! Almost there!" Quinn said with grand emotion, something unlike most responses and words from the Forgemaster. They knew this was a troubling time and would not let their own reservations or uncertainies cloud their capacity to act in the best interest of others. Amongst the crowd, Quinn made sure to look for Rokku who was part of their traveling group as they had folks split off into larger and smaller groups. Once seeing that he was good, Quinn would offer the once genin a smile as they proceeded up the Mountain's Pass.

There travels had taken Rokku through several lands he had never seen and the journey had been something of an adventure though he could not deny he had missed the simple comforts he had sorely taken for granted growing up in Otogakure. In some ways it almost felt like a strange series of history repeating itself, his mother had been an evacuee of Sunagakure and he had often heard the stories of her travels, the places and people she had met whilst searching for anew place to call home. Now Rokku and by extension his whole family now shared in the experience. He knew his family would still be travelling, the elders of the Sarutobi clan that left the former Otogakure had been gracious enough to allow his family to travel with them and despite his misgivings for the elders he could not help but be grateful for the extra protection this would provide. Rokku was not willing to let personal pride put his family at risk and his mother was with them so he was confident they would be safe.

Rokku would not be entirely satisfied until his family joined him in the new village they were creating however. Rokku had observed Quinn's leadership as they travelled and was more impressed than he might of thought, he was frankly shocked to here them shout at times, even if only to have their voice heard but for some reason Rokku had assumed them incapable of raising their voice, not physically of course but it just was as odds with the person he knew, quiet and collected, using few words and preferring actions to communicate more complex ideas or lessons. Of course Rokku had to accept he barely knew the forge master in truth and to lead a hidden village as a kage you had to be more than a silent face and a cog in the machine. Rokku wondered if Quinn even really wanted the position or if  in their heart of hearts they wouldn't rather continue to serve and work the forge. he knew they would never refused when called to duty but from Rokku's point of view it was a sacrifice not a privilege. Rokku did not voice these thoughts but he could not stop them occurring and so far Quinn seemed to be doing and admirable job raising morale and leading by example. Rokku too tried to emulate them though was not always successful.

Eventually the group found itself on an arduous journey through the mountains and a clearing was revealed below, busy with the sound of construction. Again a shock to Rokku when he heard Quinn's expressive voice and he was uncertain he would ever truly get used to it. Quinn met Rokku's eye and smiled encouragingly and Rokku smiled back with a nod of his head. For better or worse, they had a new village to build.
