Frozen missions

- Mission:
Travin had been sitting at the table in the Inn eating his dinner. When he looked at the clock and saw that it was almost time for him to get going. He had been given a mission that he needed to knock out during the night. He required stealth and it would be much easier to get done without the sun hurting the enemy's ability to track who was coming after them. The mission was simply a tower fortress a ways out of the village controlled territory that had taken a few captives and was going to be ransoming them off soon. Travin and a partner were going to infiltrate the tower fortress and take out the targets while rescuing the captives. He didn’t know who his partner was going to be, but he assumed that it was someone that would have some sort of stealth skills to pair with Travins. Holding his hand up to signal that he was done, Jhin would mark it on his tab that he paid every month, and one of the waitresses would walk over and pick up his plate. Travin would stand up and pick up his chair so as not to scratch the cherry hardwood floors and slide the chair back under the table. Giving Jhin a wave and nod as he made his way to the door and out into the open cold air. Travin had been living in the land of snow for a good while now and he was growing accustomed to the cold temperatures, plus he also never went anywhere without his thermal long johns on under his clothing.
Walking down the street wearing his Shell with the hood pulled up, as well his Owl Reikonmen. Most of the people of the village that lived near the Inn or visits it often enough would know that Travin is the shinobi with the Owl Reikonmen. He had gotten to know the people around the Inn quite well, and they had been treating him well. With several of them waving at him as they went to close up the shop for the night. Travin returned all the waves that he had seen as he made his way to his destination. Arriving at the gate Travin would wait for a few minutes for his partner, and upon his arrival Travin would introduce himself as Travin. Before heading out the village Johnny Sinns well aware of their missions and not bothering to stop them for their passes before the duo was outside of the village. Travin would remain mostly silent on the way to the tower fortress after all it was a covert mission, and unnecessary talk could get them caught.
Upon arriving at their destination Travin would make his way to the top of the snowbank laying in the snow on his belly and looking down onto the tower fortress. It was hastily crafted and he wasn’t even sure it should be considered a tower. Granted it did have the right shape and he assumed that was so that they would be able to see what was going on around them. However, it was still made of wood and not completely made of stone, and Travin could tell they were working on turning it into stone. They just hadn’t had enough time to get done with it yet. Leaving the tower to just be a shell of what it would become. Travin thought that it was stupid of them to take prisoners before their fortress was complete, but then again maybe the opportunity was too good to pass up at the time, or someone simply jumped the gun without being told to do it yet. Travin had been in the village long enough now to know how someone well meaning to the plan can actually hurt it, and this could very well be one of those cases.
“I’ll take the east side, you come in from the west, kill everything and we meet in the middle,” Travin would tell his partner. Their only real objection was to deal with the guards and free the prisoners, but this was about as well as it could go if the two of them took everyone in the fortress out then they wouldn’t have to worry about anyone following the prisoners back to the village. Travin made his way down the snow bank after his partner for this mission agreed to the plan. Staying on his belly as he slid down relaying on his Shell and natural coloring to blend into the snow. He was basically invisible out here dressed like he was in all white. Once he was down off the snow bank Travin would remain low and make his way to the tower fortress. He could tell that someone was standing at the top of the wall in front of him due to the shadows of the fire that was near the doorway.
Travin pushed some chakra into the knuckles on both of his hands and bones started to form and grow out from between his knuckles. Like his outfit the bones were also snow white and perfectly blended into the environment. Using the bone claws to stab into the wall and make his way up the wall, Travin would still be as close to the wall as possible to make sure that there was as small of a chance of getting spotted by the guy above him as he could get. It was much harder on his body than using the simple surface walking jutsu, but this would make it harder for them to see him as well. Once Travin had made to the edge of the wall he let out a low whistle, drawing the attention of the man above to come and look down over the edge and once Travin was able to see him the man was able to see Travin’s bone claw coming up and landing under his chin and driving them straight up through his skull killing him instantly and quietly before pulling him off the wall and letting his body fall into the soft snow below. Travin knew that with the current amount of snow falling from the sky that it would only take a few minutes for the body to be mostly covered and almost impossible to see down there.
Now on top of the wall itself Travin opened the door and peeked inside seeing another man. His back was to the door trusting that the guard would at least make a nose if he heard or saw anything. Travin could tell he was warming his hands by the fire, and was trying to get the cold out of his bones. Something that Travin could understand he had done the same for the first few weeks he was in the land of snow as well. This told him that the people they were here to kill were not native to the land of snow and we're here for a reason. What that reason was he didn’t know, and he really didn’t care, as they were all going to die tonight anyway. Travin made his way over to the guy making sure that his shadow stayed behind him as he moved around the room manipulating the lights with his own body. Getting close enough to place the bone claws on his right hand through the back of the man's neck and sever his nerve system preventing him from making a noise as he fell to the ground. Travin would walk out the next door, and be able to see across to the other side of the tower fortress. He would be able to see his partner doing the same thing it appeared, meaning that the tower only had one more door for both of them to clear out before heading down to the prisoners, and taking out the last few men.
Travin opened the next door and noticed that there was no one actually in it. However, there was a doorway at the bottom of some stairs leading into the center of the tower. It was clear that it was the way he needed to go. His bone claws now gone, having fallen back into bone dust as their time limit had been reached. Travin opened the door looking at a hallway leading to another set of stairs going up. He was assuming that it was going to lead to the way that his partner was going. He also saw another set of stairs going further down, and once his partner showed up Travin would lead the way down the second set of stairs going deeper into the tower. By the time they made it to the bottom of the stairs, Travin was sure that they were back on ground level. At the base of the stairs there were no doors, but there was a cell with several people locked inside of it. He assumed that they were the prisoners as it made the most sense, and he could see two people one on each side of the room. The one on Travins side was sitting at a table and eating some kind of food out of a wooden bowl. Travin made a few hand motions to his partner letting him know he was going to take this one out and that he should take out the other.
Once they agreed Travin would silently make his way down the stairs and to the base floor of the tower. A kunai in his hand as he stepped into the room, and with a throw the kunai went through the wooden bowl as the man was picking it up to drink the remaining contents and into the man's head killing him instantly. Assuming his partner didn’t need any help Travin would make his way over to the guy he had just killed and pull the keys off his belt. Before making his way to the cage and unlocking the massive lock on the cage, and let the people out. He would tell them to remain silent but everyone in the place was now dead and to follow them so that they could lead them out of the tower and back to the village. He would then ask his partner if he wanted to take the lead or the rear of the line to make sure nothing got to them. Before they all headed out the village, with Travin agreeing to do what his partner didn’t do.

Re: Frozen missions

Yoshi was walking the streets of Hyogagakure like he was used to doing. After he graduated from the academy, he didn’t really know what to do with himself. His apartment was empty, and he didn’t know how to cook very well. He had stocked his cupboards with instant ramen, and his fridge with fruit and meat. He would have to toss those items out soon because he didn’t really eat at home, he would always find his way over to the group home and pay the chef to let him eat there. Everyone at the group home were his friends. He felt bad because they were hoping to get adopted out while he was already making a living being a shinobi. If he was honest with himself, he wished he could go see his family, they had gotten so scared of him when his powers manifested. He found out he was part of a clan that was decimated years ago because of their destructive capabilities. That was why he found himself alone walking the frozen streets of Hyogagakure at dusk. All of his friends from the group home would have been getting ready to do their nightly routine, and his friends from the academy might still be training, but he had a mission tonight.
It was his first mission he would be placed on; it was a covert mission which meant no one could know he was there. He had very high score test results on infiltration, and combat, so the lady at the mission office told him he would be a perfect match for the other person they put on it. Yoshi wasn’t sure if he wanted to be placed on a mission with another person, but he was new to the shinobi life, and he knew he needed to follow orders. If working with a teammate to accomplish a mission was what needed to be done, he would do it. Yoshi would make his way to the village gates, where he was told to meet his partner. Yoshi arrived a few minutes after his partner who introduced himself as Travin. Not wanting to be rude Yoshi would introduce himself. This was the first time Yoshi would be leaving the village, but he wasn’t worried about what lurk outside the gates, Yoshi was a promising shinobi and Travin appeared to be a capable shinobi in his own right. He did posses a Reikonmen, so he must be a worthy shinobi in his own right.
The walk to the tower was silent, which Yoshi actually preferred, it allowed him quiet contemplation, and he could focus on the details of the mission, they were being sent to infiltrate a tower fortress in the middle of the tundra to save some villagers who were captured by a group of bandits. This was a b-rank mission? Yoshi would ask the question in his head. Did they think because the bandits were in a defensible position that would make this mission harder? Yoshi got himself ready for whatever was to come next. When they arrived to a point where they could see the top of the tower over the snowbanks so they were hidden Travin would tell Yoshi to wait at the bottom of the snowbank while he got a good look at the tower. Yoshi agreed, and let Travin inspect the tower. He returned a few minutes and relayed the plan to Yoshi. Yoshi would agree to the plan and would run it exactly as Travin told him to.
Yoshi was meant to take the west side of the dilapidated tower, made of moldy wood and a dismal amount of stone. The idiots that were manning the towers probably didn’t set up any way to tell if their number dwindled. That was a risk Yoshi was going to take. Travin had expected him to kill everyone on his side, if he didn’t that could mean death for Travin and a failed mission for himself. He didn’t know Travin well, but he seemed to be a straight shooter, if they finished this mission and Travin didn’t let him down that would earn points for Travin in Yoshi’s book of potentially trustworthy people. It was a dark moonless night, Yoshi wasn’t worried about being spotted in the dark so he just sprinted his way to the fortress, closing the gap of the snowbank he had hidden behind and the position he agreed to take on the west side. There was a small wooden door on his side of the fortress, he would open the door and peak inside. There was three guards surrounding a fire trying to warm up joking and getting drunk. Yoshi would run up on them and have two bones eject from his palms that were as sharp as any blade. He would jump up on the man in the middles back driving his knees into his spine and then he would stab outwards into the two other men’s throats. He would then pull his bone daggers out of their necks and quickly stab into the man who he was driving down neck. Quickly stopping any noise from the three guards. With them handled he would investigate the little guard shack he had found himself in. He would find old bandanas with the village insignia scratched out on one of the bodies. Oh, so these guys were deserters. The worst of the worst in Yoshi’s eyes. He was a company man; he believed it was better to go with what the village elders said to do because they represented everyone in the village to the best of their abilities. And to give up on your village was like giving up on your biggest responsibility, and that made Yoshi sick with rage.
He knew he would have to calm down and take on the next part of the plan, he didn’t want to waste too much time and get caught, or get Travin in a bad spot. He worked his way into the fortress, it was weird, he thought he would be on the ground floor, but the west side door was up on a hill so he was actually on the third or forth floor. He entered a long hallway and noticed two more men sitting at a table eating steak and potatoes. Did they know that was their last meal? Yoshi wondered to himself as he silently crept his way to the men eating and shoved his bone blades through the back of their necks, one of the men had the ware withal to look back at Yoshi as blood poured from his neck all over the table they were just eating at. From here Yoshi could see Travin, he was a few corridors away from him. Making sure there wasn’t anyone creeping up on him, he glanced around the first corner there was a man standing reading. Yoshi swept up from behind him kicked his legs out from under him and stabbed him in the heart while covering his mouth with his free hand.
Yoshi finally made it to Travin’s position, he was glad Travin held up his part of the plan, this meant he was a skilled shinobi. He made his way quietly down the stairs that led to Travin’s position and then they both noticed stairs going deeper into the fortress. The stench of piss and shit hit Yoshi’s nose and he had to use all of his will power to stop from wrenching. It wasn’t his first time smelling death; this was just overpowering to his senses. With the bad ventilation and prisoners also adding to the stench with their body odder and pots of piss and shit. It was a lot for the young shinobi to handle, but he handled it. When the pair finally made it to the cells, Travin noticed some men eating, Yoshi could never eat in a place like this, but he figured these guys must have gotten used to the stench. Travin motioned he would kill one, and that he, Yoshi, should kill the other one. Yoshi nodded and quickly crept up on the other man eating in the prison chambers. Yoshi just got behind the man wrapped his arms around his head and snapped the man’s neck. Noticing a lack of keys on the man Yoshi turned to Travin and he indicated he had the keys. Yoshi was relieved, he could break the locks or pick them, but using keys saved so much more time.
After unlocking the prisoners, Yoshi and Travin would guide them out of the fortress. There was no sign of life save their own. Travin asked Yoshi where he wanted to be and Yoshi just shrugged so he cided to re no one ambushed them in the middle of the night. Once the duo made it back to the village Yoshi would show Travin the bandana in his hands. “It looks like some rogue shinobi decided to try their luck against Hyogagakure.” The boy would tell his senior, besides his name that was the first the most the boy had said the entire night. With that Yoshi took the headband and stored it in his apartment.
