Gotta start somewhere [Training-Please Approve?] Empty Gotta start somewhere [Training-Please Approve?]

Nietzsche sighed as he left his house. It had been a hard day. After the funeral for his grandfather Nietzsche could not keep his mind from the sorry sate of the medical system in Kirigakure. Nietzsche figured he had a long way to go to be of any help whatsoever to the medical community. “That’s why starting tonight I will strive to become a medical ninja no matter what” Nietzsche resolved to himself in the cold night. He knew to become a medical-nin one must have complete and utter control of ones mental state and even more importantly ones chakra. This was a slight setback as Nietzsche was fully aware that he was severely lacking in chakra control. “ Dam I guess that means training” Nietzsche said to himself.

At this point Nietzsche had walked unconsciously to the edge of a small pond. He stared blankly into the water watching as the fog rolled off in spirals. Nietzsche sighed again “well I guess I gotta start somewhere” he thought. And with that Nietzsche took a tentative step onto the water. He let his chakra flow down to his feet. He solidified his foothold and shifted all his weight onto his right foot. “Ok so I’m standing on water now cool” thought Nietzsche swelling with pride. Now to take some steps…. He took one step and then SPLASH! he fell straight through into the ice cold water. Soaking wet and cold he dragged himself to the shore. All the crickets and bugs flying around him seemed to be mocking him and his failed attempt.

Dismayed and disheartened Nietzsche stood up and tried again. He focused his chakra and then took one step then another then another and then another. Nietzsche did it without really thinking about it—had he been over thinking it the first time? He made his way to the center of the pond and just stood there for a while. Periodically Nietzsche’s feet would start to get a wet feeling and he would have to release more chakra. After about an hour Nietzsche decided he had the hang of it. So why not step it up a bit?

Nietzsche began jumping up and down on the water. This was a bit harder because he had to constantly adjust his chakra output so as to not fall through the water. Not once did Nietzsche fall again, but there were some close calls. Nietzsche grinned-he was getting the hang of it. “I have to push myself further” thought Nietzsche. To prove to himself that he had truly gained the ability to walk on water Nietzsche thought of a true test of his ability. This test came in the form of a transition run from water to land and vice versa. Nietzsche started his self made test with some apprehension; up to that point he had only been in the water not changing terrain, but he threw caution to the wind and broke out into a sprint. To his surprise the water felt as solid as land underneath his feet. After the first lap Nietzsche took ten more around the lake retuned to the shore.

Upon reaching the shore Nietzsche began stretching out. He used the stretching techniques he was taught at the academy, which supposedly helped to increase chakra flow around the body after a hard workout. Nietzsche could feel all his muscles relieved of stress, but in the absence of stress came exhaustion. He collapsed onto the soft grass and smiled weakly. The warm morning sun peeked over the horizon filtering through the mist. Its beauty was astounding and with that image in his mind Nietzsche drifted off into a deep sleep.

Gotta start somewhere [Training-Please Approve?] Empty Some more training

Sun Apr 22, 2012 8:09 pm
The late afternoon sun glinted into Nietzsche’s eyes as he woke up from his sleep. He looked around bewildered. What time was it? Nietzsche checked his watch and was surprised: had he really slept to the mid afternoon? In any case Nietzsche figured he had better get back to working on his chakra control. Though upon getting up his whole body was shocked by a wave of exhaustion forcing him to sit back down. Had he over done the training last night? Nietzsche uneasily stood up again. He willed himself to remain standing it was tough but he could do it for a while at least.

Nietzsche’s mind turned to the problem at hand: training. He figured he should try his hand, or foot as it is, at tree walking. Unfortunately Nietzsche could not find any suitable trees. All of the tress were either too short or too flimsy to be of use. So finally he decided that he would have to settle for walking up a vertical mountain cliff. Nietzsche was confident in his ability to climb this cliff. It was just like standing on the water in terms of chakra flow right?

Nietzsche faced the cliff and grinned. He took a quick step toward the cliff in an attempt to do it with some grace, but the result was him kicking off the wall and flying back. Nietzsche didn’t get it he had done exactly what he had done with water: spread out chakra around his feet to allow him to stand. So he tried again in hopes of a better result. Alas it came to no avail as he kicked himself back yet again landing rather sharply on his tailbone. Sitting down discouraged Nietzsche thought about a new way to form the chakra in his feet to better aid him in climbing this cliff.

After some time he thought of it: he would make it so his chakra would seep into the rocks uneven surface and make a foothold that way. He squared up to the wall for the second time that day and ran excitedly towards the cliff while focusing his chakra in each foot. And then he jumped up on to the vertical face and stuck there. He had done it! Now the hard part: walking to the top. The cliff itself was not very tall only about 25ft tall, but it felt like much further as Nietzsche began to climb. With each step sweat slipped down his brow, but Nietzsche had no time to wipe it off as he need complete focus.

At last after a few close calls Nietzsche made it to the top. He looked down and swelled with pride. Now to go back down…. he thought to himself. Down was infinitely easier making it down in half the time it took to make it to the top. Nietzsche then sat down to rest for a bit and grabbed a late lunch from his bag.

After finishing his meal of cold instant ramen Nietzsche started up his training again. This time he planned on a bit of an obstacle course. He had moved to a higher cliff, which had some loose dirt and branches sticking out of the side. This would be interesting Nietzsche thought. He made his way up and it all felt good until about halfway up the side of the cliff his foothold gave out gave out leaving Nietzsche plummeting to the ground. With a dull thud Nietzsche hit the ground. Grimacing in pain Nietzsche stood back up he felt ok no broken bones at least, but there would be some bruising no doubt. Nietzsche faced the cliff again and started up. Again about halfway up Nietzsche’s foothold gave out, but this time he was ready he jumped up and grabbed a sturdy branch. He proceeded to pull himself up on to the branch and continue walking up. The rest was a piece of cake.

Upon reaching the top he lay down yet again; he was feeling the drain from training intensely the night before. Nietzsche resolved to do this “obstacle course” seven more times and be done. After completing his self-prescribed training Nietzsche walked down to the pond he had trained at last night. He figured he deserved a nice swim for relaxation and not to mention cleanliness, he was coved in dirt.

Nietzsche took some time in the water just sitting in it allowing himself to float on his back and look at the sky. Nietzsche knew the training he had just done was only minor and he had a long way to go, but this did not deter him it only steeled his resolve. After his pleasant swim Nietzsche got his clothes back on and half walked half stumbled home for a days rest, because it felt like he had drained all his chakra.

Gotta start somewhere [Training-Please Approve?] Empty Back to the basics

Mon Apr 23, 2012 8:39 am
Nietzsche awoke late next morning. Was this whole new sleeping late thing becoming a habit? Regardless he got up got dressed and went to the kitchen. Over a breakfast of eggs and bacon Nietzsche decided today would consist of some light training. He would go over his academy basics so as to improve and refine his skills.

After breakfast it was time to go. Nietzsche felt like training buy the sea today so off he went on a short 3 mile run to the sea. Upon reaching the shore a large gust of wind came off the turbulent water. Looking to the sky Nietzsche observed that storm would be rolling in soon. He decided to make his training quick.

With the roll of thunder overhead and the threat of rain Nietzsche began his training. He started with the substitution jutsu. He was able to locate a suitable log to use. With a poof Nietzsche was seeing a double of himself right in front of him it made him smile in spite of himself. No matter how simple the jutsu was he still enjoyed seeing it in action, though he always did find it odd watching his substitution get destroyed. With destruction on his mind Nietzsche took a swing at his substitution instantly destroying it on impact. The log fell to the ground with a satisfying thud. Nietzsche continued this cycle until the rain started.

For now the rain was a pleasant distraction as Nietzsche practiced, but he could foresee it becoming more irksome. Next up in Nietzsche’s training regime was the clone jutsu. This jutsu had always given him trouble. He was able to just barely pass with it in his genin exam. It was something about the eyes they lacked…life. Nietzsche quickly weaved the hand signs and instantly Nietzsche was looking at himself times four. And of course he eyes were all wrong. This time they had been too big making his clones look like something out of a comic book. Nietzsche dispersed them and tried again. The second time around the eyes looked a bit better, but the coloring was off. Nietzsche eye color was a reddish brown while these clones had a bright almost white color to them. Nietzsche continued with this until the first streak of lightning came down from the sky.

With that Nietzsche retreated to the shelter of some rocky outcropping, which formed a natural cave where he could finish the last phase of his practice. The transformation jutsu was a no brainer for Nietzsche it just came naturally to him even though supposedly it was the hardest chakra control wise. Outside his sheltered cave Nietzsche spotted a fox. He had never transformed into an animal. Was that even possible he wondered? Nietzsche figured he would try anyway. He concentrated on the fox with its sleek form and red coat. Then POOF Nietzsche looked into the mirror that he had placed on the cave floor to look at his transformations and was amazed by how much he looked like a fox. Nietzsche reminded himself to remember this trick, because it might be helpful later on. Nietzsche continued his training by transforming into creatures that walked by from a field mouse to a surprised elderly lady who ran away screaming she had seen her own ghost.

Nietzsche content with his work for the day started back home in the rain. Upon reaching home he was soaked form head to toe. So he went into the bathroom and took a long shower. Afterwards he made some dinner and watched a show on tv and drifted off to sleep dreaming of what was and what was yet to come.

Gotta start somewhere [Training-Please Approve?] Empty Chakra Scalpel-Learning

Thu Apr 26, 2012 2:33 am
After having taken a break from his chakra control training Nietzsche figured he should really get down to learning some medical ninjutsu. He decided he mine as well aim high. His first medical ninjutsu he would learn would be the chakra scalpel. After having spent some time at the hospital observing and researching the technique Nietzsche found that it was an A-rank jutsu that required excellent chakra control. He also discovered that the idea behind the jutsu was that one would be able to do a quick surgery without cutting the skin. Though Nietzsche also foresaw being able to use this in a fight.

Nietzsche had his work cut out for him an B-rank jutsu was daunting to anyone. Luckily he had thought of a training plan. First he would work on creating the “blade”. Second he would work on the sharpness of the blade. And lastly he would work on the hardest part being able to do simple surgical cuts through flesh without cutting the skin. The last step was the most intimidating, but Nietzsche figured he would cross that bridge when he got there.

Nietzsche decided he would be able to do the first phase of his training in his room, as he did not plan on doing anything destructive or messy. Nietzsche held out his palms as if to give someone a high five, but moved his fingers together. He then allowed chakra to flow to his fingertips. Nothing happened, he was dismayed that he could not even see his chakra forming. This was going to be harder than he thought… Closing his eyes he focused all his chakra to the tips of his fingers.

Nietzsche opened his eyes and to his surprise and joy he could see chakra flowing slowly from his hands. Though the chakra came in burst one second flowing quickly and another hardly visible. Nietzsche willed himself to focus a steady flow of chakra into his hands. The flow stabilized and the chakra release became constant. Nietzsche then faltered as a wave of tiredness washed over him. He had been releasing too much chakra and this sudden weakness was the result. “There has to be an easier way” mumbled Nietzsche to himself.

Nietzsche collected himself and pondered how he would go about making his chakra use more efficient. After a couple of minutes of thought an idea came into Nietzsche mind. What if instead of allowing his chakra to flow from his hand he extended his chakra network a bit past his fingertips? This method would allow him to keep a consistent flow of chakra and in turn lose less chakra, because chakra would just continue to circulate through the “blades” to the rest of the body. Nietzsche gave it a shot it felt weird at first like his fingertips were being stretched. But right before his eyes Nietzsche watched as a blunt edge of chakra formed around his hands. It was not sharp but it was a step. Also Nietzsche felt a considerably less amount of drain, which was good. He couldn’t afford to get too tired while operating or fighting. Nietzsche worked on this for the nest hour until it became second nature to him; just focus his chakra a bit and ta da there was a blunted blade at his fingertips. At this Nietzsche smiled he was one step closer to learning this jutsu.

Next came the sharpening of the blade. And unfortunately a whetstone just wouldn’t cut it here for sharpening. Nietzsche figured he would have to just focus his chakra to the highest degree. To test the sharpness of his blade Nietzsche set up a row of bamboo sticks each about a quarter of a foot in diameter in the small front yard his house had. He started up his chakra blades and smirked again it always got him that he could control his chakra in that way. Nietzsche focused with all his mind on making a sharp blade form. After about a minute of concentrating Nietzsche took a stab at it literarily. He swung his chakra blade in a smooth arc and THWACK his blade bounced off the bamboo. Also the blow jarred his hand on the hit. Upon inspecting his wrist he found that he had dislocated his hand.

Walking over to the latticed porch Nietzsche sat down on the steps. His right hand was hurting a bunch. He bunched up his shirt and bit down on it while he popped this right hand back into its socket with his left. POP and he was able to move his hand again. Nietzsche sighed as he turned back to his training. He activated his chakra blades and focused hard. This time envisioning the sharpest blades he had seen in his life. He saw the scythe blade his father used to use to cut the grass. He saw the katanas the chunin of the village carry around. Then he struck with all his might. A resounding thump was heard. Nietzsche pulled at his the blade was stuck in the second bamboo stick. It had sliced straight through the first one. Now came the hard part thought Nietzsche: perfection. He spent until sundown slicing away at the bamboo until at last he was able to slice through 5 bamboo sticks like butter.

The drain on Nietzsche physically was large. He wandered into his house as the evening sun set. Walking to his room he stumbled a few times. He had really overdone it this time. He was going to need a long rest. Upon entering his room Nietzsche fell into bed and was asleep in ten minutes. He would finish his training tomorrow, but for now he rested.

After a nights rest and a hearty breakfast Nietzsche retuned to his training. Before he could begin he had to go grab some meat from the butcher. So he ran over and picked up some slabs of meat and retuned to his house. He planned to use these slabs in perfecting his last stage of the chakra scalpel. Nietzsche set up an apparatus where there was a slab of meat underneath another slab. His goal would be to not cut the top slab but cut the bottom one.

Nietzsche brought out his chakra blades and prepared for the first cut. He sat down and slowly brought the blade down into the flesh. Instantly Nietzsche could see that he had cut it so he pulled his blade out. “Maybe this time I will cut in slower” he thought to himself. Nietzsche activated his blades again and lowered the blade and again a cut appeared on the top layer. This was hard no wonder it was an A rank jutsu complained Nietzsche to himself.

He took a deep breath, he had thought of a plan. He planned to lessen the amount of chakra he was using while cutting in and then increase just the tip of the bade so he could get the perfect cut. Firing up his blades Nietzsche sighed and pushed down into the flesh and no cut appeared. Ok now to move the scalpel… Nietzsche gingerly moved the scalpel to one side and for about an inch he was good until a cut started to appear. He pulled the blade out and exhaled deeply he noticed he had been holding his breath the whole time.

He was so close he could taste success, but this last part was proving to be hard. He tried ten more times with no luck. The blade would always cut the second he stated moving it. On the eleventh try Nietzsche resolved he would do it this time for sure. He ignited his chakra scalpel and pushed into the flesh and it popped in and no cut appeared. Now the hard part moving. Nietzsche concentrated on complete chakra control. He started to move it one inch two inches three inches and four inches. He then pulled the blade out and pulled away the top layer of meat to reveal that he had cut the lower slab.

Nietzsche lay back and rejoiced. He then retuned and to test his skills carved his name in the lower slab. After that he spent another hour or so practicing. Nietzsche was itching to use this in a fight on a patient or anything he just wanted to be able to show off what he had done. But that would have to wait, because for now the day had passed and Nietzsche needed sleep.

Gotta start somewhere [Training-Please Approve?] Empty speed training

Fri Apr 27, 2012 2:01 am
The birds were singing as Nietzsche took his walk out to the training grounds. He planned on practicing his speed and evasiveness. The best way he knew how to test this was running through the bamboo forest. Nietzsche figured this would increase his speed and reflexes, because he would have to dodge bamboo stalks as he ran, which required speed and the ability to read the sway of the bamboo.

Nietzsche arrived at the forest as a soft breeze blew across his face. The same breeze caused the bamboo to sway and move into a moving obstacle course. Nietzsche broke out into an all out sprint into the forest. He dodged and ran by stalks of bamboo that seemed to bend down to hit him. One branch just barely hit hi leaving a long scratch of blood along Nietzsche’s cheek. Still Nietzsche kept running and running.

Nietzsche stopped when he reached the pond in the center of the bamboo grove. On the way back he would run on top of the bamboo. It required balance and speed so as not to break the long slender stalks. Nietzsche jumped atop one stalk and began running back. About half way back Nietzsche feel onto the ground catching his fall with his butt. Badly bruised Nietzsche got back up and continued his run, but this time on the ground.

After three more laps to the pond Nietzsche grew tired and turned towards home. It had been some light training, but he figured it was worth it. Keeping ones reflexes quick was always good and would help in fight.

It had been a while since Nietzsche had trained and he reluctantly walked out to his training field again. He made preparations to practice battling with his chakra scalpels, because what use is a medical ninja who cannot defend himself? Nietzsche set up a series of balloons inside balloons of varying sizes and thicknesses so he would have to use varying chakra outputs. His goal would be to not pop the outside balloon but pop the inside one. He would time himself to be able to execute an attack as quickly as possible and as precisely as possible.

Nietzsche placed the balloons around at various heights and distances. After having set them up Nietzsche retuned to his starting point and marked it with some white chalk he brought with him. He thought it through in his head he would first do a set of 10 balloons and work up from there. He hit the timer he had with him and with in a flash Nietzsche tuned into a whirlwind of chakra and movement. He arrived at the first balloon, which he sliced through with a quick uppercut. He then sprinted over to the next cutting downward this time to strike the balloon that lay on the ground nestled in the green grass. Three four five six seven eight nine balloons fell in quick succession. Nietzsche appeared in front of the tenth and last thick-skinned balloon and sliced through it with both blades. At last he retuned to his starting point and hit the timer.

He looked at the time just over two minutes. He needed to go faster. This time Nietzsche set up the balloons in more difficult spots. He walked over to his starting mark and began. All the balloons fell one after the other. Upon looking at the clock a smile spread across his face one minute and thirty seconds, but to Nietzsche’s chagrin when he looked back at the balloons one of the outside balloons had pooped.

Nietzsche sat down to take a break and bask in the mid day sun and breath the cool spring air. It took a lot out of him to be sprinting around as fast as possible to cut down the balloons. An idea occurred to Nietzsche just then that he should rig some balloons that move so he could practice slicing into a moving target. Nietzsche got up and rigged a few of these devices into his training.

After taking a quick rest Nietzsche got back to training. He started running around cutting balloons to shreds and generally having a blast. Then Nietzsche came up to the moving targets the first one was easy as Nietzsche ran by it hearing a satisfying POP! as he chopped through it. Then came the hard part three balloons swung before him. He slashed out at the first two then engaged the third one flying straight towards his face. Using a quick change in chakra output Nietzsche made it so his scalpel cut straight through both balloons so they did not hit his face. And to his surprise he did just that and kept running forward.

For the thirtieth time that day Nietzsche retuned to his starting point and looked down at his time: one minute and fifteen seconds. Perfect his best time yet. Nietzsche wanting to end on a high note, and not wanting to be out in the dark, as the sun was presently setting, went home. As the cool mist accompanied dusk closed in around Nietzsche he reached his house. It always seemed so quaint yet inviting to him. The lanterns of his neighbors glowed brightly and Nietzsche smiled contently.

Gotta start somewhere [Training-Please Approve?] Empty stamina training

Fri May 04, 2012 11:24 am
The town was still lit by eerie lantern light as Nietzsche left. At this point mist had descended around the town. Nietzsche had never been anywhere except Kirigakure and he hoped one day he would be able to live in a land where after dark it was possible navigate without getting hopelessly lost in the mist, but that was beside the point. Nietzsche planned a triathlon of sorts to work on his stamina.

He was on his way to the seaside. There he would swim about a mile and a half against the current, which should be strong now, as Nietzsche had timed it so the tide was going out. He would then proceed to run for seventeen miles. And finally to top off his arduous training he would climb three fairly high cliffs without using chakra to assist him.

At last Nietzsche arrived at the seaside. It was a pleasant early morning; the sun was just cresting over the sea. Nietzsche took off his traveling cloak and removed his shoes, it would be easier to swim without them. Taking a deep breath Nietzsche walked into the water. The second Nietzsche got into the water was the second he wanted to get out; it was freezing cold.

Nietzsche shivered, but he figured he had better get swimming. Off he went at first it was an easy swim, because the tides had not fully shifted, in fact they were at a rare standstill. After about ten minutes though the tides started to shift at full force. The rapid tide threatened to wash Nietzsche out to sea. Luckily Nietzsche kept strong and kept up his swim. After about forty minutes Nietzsche got to the end of his swim. He was exhausted, but he pushed onward.

Next came the daunting 17 mile run. Nietzsche’s goal was to keep a seven minute mile for the whole run. And off he went without shoes so he tried to avoid any rocky spots. He mostly ran on nice soft grass, but at one point for about a mile he came across a patch of gravel that stuck into his bare feet. The gravel part slowed down that stretch considerably. He made up for it though with his last five-mile stretch and reached the cliffs.

At this point in the day the sun was directly overhead filtering through the sparse cloud cover. And as Nietzsche looked up the cliff the sun shone right in his eyes. It would make it slightly harder as he could not look straight up for handholds in the cliff without being momentarily blinded by the light. The first cliff he climbed was a breeze all his foothold held and he had no slip ups. The second cliff was much the same. But upon looking up the third Nietzsche foresaw some problems. He saw that the whole cliff side was eroding away, which would make it hard to climb. But with a determined look on his face Nietzsche told himself: “this is the last one I can do it”.

Up he went the first quarter of the climb was a cinch, but after that Nietzsche was consistently losing his grip and almost falling. At last after falling halfway down the cliff and cutting up his legs pretty badly Nietzsche made it to the top. Once there he slumped down and just lay there for what seemed like forever. Finally he got up and walked home. Nietzsche’s last thought before he fell into a comatose like sleep was: “Dam I really need to visit a spa or something this training is taking its toll on me” (Words: 601, stamina training)

Nietzsche awoke to the howling of wind and the pelting rain. Any sensible person would have stayed inside, but of course it was not long before he was dressed and ready for the new type of training he had devised. He called it wave training. He would stand in the sea and allow waves to hit him so as to gain a better tolerance to pain. The day was perfect as Nietzsche hoped that the wind would whip up large waves that were able to bring sand with them as they curled over his head thus adding greater effect to his training.

He made his way out to the sea and upon reaching the sea he was smiling in glee. The conditions were better than he had hoped. The waves were varying in height due to the fluctuating wind that was sweeping across the water. Nietzsche walked up to the beach just as a large gust of wind blew towards him swirling his silver hair around his head. Nietzsche removed his shirt and jacket. He then proceeded to step into the icy cold water.
Nietzsche got up to his knees before he was hit by his first wave. At first he thought his new training plan would be an utter failure, because that wave had hardly done anything. “I guess I have to go deeper” Nietzsche thought to himself. He walked in to his waist. And just as he reached that depth a huge gust of wind blew by sending a torrent of waves at Nietzsche. Each wave was like an icy storm hitting Nietzsche squarely in the chest each time. Also each wave slowly pushed Nietzsche back towards shore. The waves kept coming after the initial strikes. After a while the waves started to feel like punches that could be eternally dished out by the sea.

In a lull in the waves Nietzsche looked down at his chest and saw that it was red and marked by sand grains that had been constantly bombarding his body. Smiling Nietzsche waded out further to where bigger waves would curl over his head. The first huge wave he got hit by felt like being slammed by a sumo wrestler. The power of nature was humbling. As the storm reached its crescendo Nietzsche saw his last challenge approach a series of giant waves that were above his head by about five feet. To Nietzsche time seemed to slow.

Until the impact if the wave brought him back to reality. Nietzsche was forced underwater and as he tried to resurface another wave hit him head on and then another and another. Nietzsche could feel the air being crushed out of his lungs. At last the waves abated and he rose from the depths like a primitive beast. Gasping for breath Nietzsche felt his lungs burning and his body screaming in pain. And just like that another wave pummeled Nietzsche, but this time he was able to keep above water.

Finally after an hour and a half of wave training Nietzsche dragged himself up to the shore and let the rain wash off the salty water that covered his body. After lying helpless on the beach for ten minutes Nietzsche found the strength to stand up. His whole body burned and he felt like he had been through a wash cycle at the local laundry. He grabbed his cloak, draping it over his wave battered body. Nietzsche then stumbled back to home feeling with each step a spasm of discomfort from his raw chest. Then a thought occurred to Nietzsche as he placed his hand over his chest and felt chakra flow from his hand making a green glow that seemed to highlight the darkness of the storm. By the time Nietzsche had arrived home his chest was back to normal, but his exhaustion remained. Falling into bed he did not even bother to turn out the lights. (words: 653, health)
