Patrollin' da sho' 'nd then sh*t hap'n Empty Patrollin' da sho' 'nd then sh*t hap'n

Spoiler:

Today Rin got up early, he had two missions today and the first one started in the morning. Both missions were nothing fancy, but he needed some low ranked mission to do before getting to the real danger. And if in the process he would be able help other people, all the better. Just after sunrise Rin left, heading towards the coast. His mission was to patrol Hidden Mist's border with the sea. When he arrived at the spot, there were one more Genin and one Chuunin there waiting. One Genin arrived late. When they had a full team of 3 Genins and a Chuunin captain they relieved the current patrol party. At first they had a routine check of the area, which included checking all the entrances into the forest, two bays that are good for a disembark and the general check of everything in-between. When they were done, they would split up and go to their designated spot until it was time for them to be relieved. Rin's spot was on a rocky cliff, just above the roaring sea. Behind him was a grassy clearing and then the forest. At first it was quite calming and the boy liked it, but over time he grew bored and decided to something thrilling. He walked to the edge of the cliff and walked it down using chakra at his feet to hold him on the surface. It was quite a sensation! Standing horizontally on a rock and looking at furious waves smashing against the same rock you're standing on just a few meters in front of you! It really made Rin liven up a bit, but he remembered he's on a mission and he should not let his guard down while enjoying nature, so he returned to post. It wasn't long after that as the next team came and relieved them.

While returning to Hidden Mist they got a message via messenger hawk. It was a mission assignment to two of Genin, on of them being Rin. Apparently they wee chosen because they were close to the mission location, while others also had other assignments waiting for them in the village. The two Genins were to go a pair of kilometers east of Kirigakure where they would find a group of civilian workers. They were to get a supply list from there civilians and transport those supplies from the village back to them. It was fairly easy assignment, a regular D rank mission. They got there in a few minutes, since they were closer to that location than to the village. When they did, they learned why the the supplies were needed - they were building a house. One of the workers explained that they had left some of their stuff behind. "We have a tight schedule and going after those supplies now would certainly make us cross our deadline... Our client wants this done on time and he's willing to spare some Ryo to make it happen..." After hearing that the two boys departed immediately. The list was long and some of the things were really heavy. The workers told them what things they need first so while running to the village Genins made a plan of what will they bring first and what later. With their plan they would have to make 13 trips each one taking at least ten minutes getting to the village and up to 20 minutes getting back. This is if they would pick a pace with enough speed, but without tiring themselves to the point of needing a rest after every trip. Anyway, they would be running around till dusk, but it would probably take much more if the workers were to try bringing everything back. The men were quite impressed with the speed of the two boys. Even when carrying heavy stuff like metal plating and wood blocks they managed to make a trip every 25-30 minutes. Finally they brought the last piece on the list. It was already getting dark and most of the workers had already left, only three remained to receive everything and put it in place before thanking the shinobi and saying their farewells. Rin was too exhausted to do anything else than go to sleep when he came back. "Ugh... I'll get those Ryo tomorrow..."

Patrollin' da sho' 'nd then sh*t hap'n Empty Re: Patrollin' da sho' 'nd then sh*t hap'n

Spoiler:

Next morning, before Rin went out to receive the ryo he earned yesterday he got another mission assignment. This one ordered him to do some detective work, rather than be a pack bull. There was a thief in the village and the thief seamed to only take artwork. Apparently because of the art's he had already stolen quality the damage was already in thousands of ryo and higher ups wanted this dealt with in a day, plus as much art returned as possible. It was a challenging assignment for a D rank, probably because there was no combat expected, or at least no real danger because higher ups assume this thief is a civilian. But there are shinobi who would be tempted to do something like this if the pay was good enough, especially if they believe they would not be caught. Well, at first Rin needed more information, one thing sure - he should keep his guard up at all times.

He started by asking some questions at the market area of the village. There were a few houses he was pointed at when he asked about people who got their art stolen. After questioning those people he learned that the thief attacked either at night or when there were two or less people home. Everyone who saw the thief said he was very fast, too fast for any non-trained person to catch, which made it quite obvious he was probably a shinobi, at least for a while. Rin's plan was to get them at the scene of the crime or to force them (him or her, if there's only one) to incriminate themselves, but to know where they will appear again he would need to know targets worth of their attention. For that he visited Hidden Mist's main building: main base of ANBU, home of Mizukage, as well as home of villages archives and all the intelligence. After explaining his assignment and asking very nicely he was given a list of people in the village who keep most valuable artworks. After comparing them to the list of victims Rin quickly understood that the thief went only after the most valuable pieces and there was only one person left who had two paintings worth the thief's attention. It was time for preparations (OOC: which I shall skip to make things more interesting for mods).

Rin was there, sitting on a roof of nearby building. From here the boy could clearly see both main entrance and most of secondary ways to get to the building where last pieces of art were being kept. There was a way go get through kitchen's windows, but it was very unlikely the thief would strike there, because it was the furthest away from owner's bedroom, where the paintings were. Also there was a way to get through underground, but then one would have to make it through all the floors. So assuming the thief would attempt to start as close to his target as possible, this spot was perfect to wait him them. Rin didn't have to wait long, because the owner wasn't at home. But the thief noticed him before Rin knew it and the boy was attacked from behind. He reacted in time to prevent the blow from knocking him unconscious. The thief was a man about 20-30 years old, wearing dark clothes and a mask. With the initial attack failed the thief hesitated for a moment and then attacked again. This is what Rin was waiting for, he needed to injure the man to force him withdraw without killing him. The boy ignored thief's attack taking out a kunai and stabbing him in a leg. When a punch reached him, Rin was thrown from the roof. While on his way down he quickly performed Clone technique to make it look like he actually fell down, then took the second kunai he had attached wire to and threw it at the building, making his escape three floors bellow the thief on the roof. He waited a bit. As expected the thief ran away - with an injured leg he would take huge risk trying to steal that last artwork. Rin got to the roof and retrieved him kunai, then followed the injured thief to his hideout, taking some guards with him on the way. When they arrived there, they found all the stolen art and the thief panicking, trying to escape with as much goods as possible. But it was too late for him.

Patrollin' da sho' 'nd then sh*t hap'n Empty Re: Patrollin' da sho' 'nd then sh*t hap'n

Missions:

Later that day Rin got another assignment. It was another thief. But apparently this one did not aim at artwork specifically, but rather sweeped shops. Since Rin had already taken some damage and was tired after chasing the art thief, he kind of felt lazy to be this careful and decided to simply find the thief and force him to submit. Thinking it he walked to the market and questioned people who were robbed already. Almost all of them said that thief appeared at about the same time - just before the shops would close for the night.

There was still plenty of time before the thief make an appearance again, so Rin headed back home and took some rest. He cleaned his bloody kunai, then attached some wire to it. Now he had two such weapons - kunais with about two meters of wire. He could use them to attack from mid range, to bind his opponent's legs or hand, or to make an escape like he did the last time. But he didn't plan any tricks this time, only to get there, find him and defeat him, or her.

When it was about time Rin left for the market. He hid well and waited for something to happen. It didn't take long - he heard a scream and instantly jumped into the open looking for whoever made it. It was a elderly woman and right behind her was the thief already carrying a bag of goods. Rin didn't waste any time, he quickly raised his hand forming one handseal and disappearing from people's sight. He the appeared right in front of the thief striking him and knocking the bag out of his hands. "Surrender, please" as the thief realized he's up against a much stronger opponent he tried to run away. With a switch arm move Rin threw his prepared weapon binding the thief's legs and preventing his escape. Then he called some guards to take care of it and headed back home for his well earned rest.
