A new arrival
Sat Feb 23, 2013 11:58 pm
The weather was slightly overcast. Small, separate clouds moving through the sky, being blown forward by the wind. The gates of Konoha stood proudly in the wind, protecting the city. On the road, the wind moved little clouds of dust over the ground, from a distance, it looked like streams of sand moved away from the gate of Konoha. The wind was not unkind, a simple breeze, which helped to cool down a little. The sun was shining in the sky and everything looked nice all around.
A lone traveler showed up in the distance. At first it was difficult to see him, then as he got closer, the guards could see that it was a single man, of average stature, not too tall, not too short. He was almost entirely covered by a piece of cloth, covering his body from his head all the way down to his knees. From underneath the cloth, two lower legs stuck out, taking steps as the distance between the traveler and the gate was closed, slowly. Even from this distance it was obvious that the man had at least two things under the cloak. A very long pole type item, probably a weapon, and a big backpack, which made him look almost twice as large.
The traveler showed common sense as he took of the cloak that covered his head, revealing a young man’s face and showing that he wasn’t trying to hide anything. Black, shoulder length hair immediately got caught by the wind, turning it into a mess. The young man tried to contain it, pushing his hair down with his hand, just to have it swept up and ruffled by the wind again. Upon reaching the gate of Konoha, the traveler stopped, looking up at the large gate. While he was admiring the building skills of whoever made the gate, two shinobi guards approached him, cautious because they didn’t know what was being hidden under the cloak.
“Whoa… I wonder who closes these at night…” Yari spoke to himself, smiling. He brought his gaze back down. A pair of brown eyes with small lines of light blue moving to the middle, a very rare sight, locked onto the two shinobi approaching him. “Oh, hello there. Is this Ko-…” He reached under his cloak with the hand that had been used to keep his hair neat to take something out form under it. “Konoha. Right. Is this Konoha?” He read the name of a piece of paper in his hand.
Wether or not he got a positive answer, Yari smiled at the guards, taking off the cloak that had been protecting him from the wind, rain and sun for so long now. With an almost respectful gesture, he folded the cloak neatly, giving the guards time enough to check him out. His clothes had more holes in them then fabric, luckily his pants were mostly intact where it mattered. Through the holes, his skin was visible with many light scars tearing up the otherwise nicely tanned skin. The sunlight reflected somewhat on the sheen of sweat covering his skin.
He held the cloak under his arm while holding onto the pole type weapon with his hand. Without the cloak to cover it, the guards could clearly see that it was a spear type weapon ending in a three pointed blade. Two of the ends were pointing horizontally and a little bit up, the third point was pointing to the sky. With a firm thud he planted the end of the spear in the ground before sliding the backpack from his back. The weight of the backpack dragged it down Yari's arms and made it slam into the ground, where it stayed.
"Now... Where did I put it..." With a bit of rummaging through his backpack, without showing the contents to the guards, he found what he was looking for. Pulling out a scroll with all his traveling information and permissions, Yari turned to the guards, holding out the scroll for them to accept and read. His motion made the backpack topple over, causing the fist sized rocks that made up its contents to roll out of the backpack. "Ugh... not again." With a loud sigh, Yari started to pack the rocks up again as he waited for the guards to finish reading the scroll.

[I am not a battle mod however from the rules that I know you can't NPC guards of the leaf village. Unless that rule was changed, all guards from the leaf village can be NPCed by the Hokage, and they can turn you away if they wish.]

The two guards on duty are Leaf Village Chuunin, slightly perplexed by the outdated paperwork, but nonetheless unfazed by the approach of the friendly man. With almost no hassle, Yari's papers are stamped and he is allowed inside the village gates.
"Enjoy your time here," starts one guard,
"And don't cause any trouble," finishes the other.
