Kenshin's visit home
Mon Nov 04, 2013 8:31 pm
Slowly, Kenshin would open the old rickety front door of the orphanage and step inside as the smell of cleaning supplies hit his nostrils. Taken back a bit by the smell he attempted to ignore the strong odor and continue torwards his room. Once inside he looked around at the 10x15 foot room and sighed as he layed down on his bed with a small closet indented into the wall facing his bed full of clothing. Shutting his eyes images of that fateful night that his father had died began to fill his head and suddenly it felt as though the bed raised off the floor and he awoke. Nearly thirty minutes later, it seems as though he had fallen asleep and he raised himself and kicked his feet over the side of the bed and put his face into his hands mumbling a single word under his breath "Why?...".

T'was not by chance that Kenzo had set foot within the orphanage. Word had spread within the Uchiha District that a young male had been placed the Konoha's orphanage; not just any male, a Uchiha. This was an outrage! Who ever allowed such a thing should have been beheaded at once; though this was not the way Kenzo expressed his views to his mother. He simply told her something about a child in need of a good home. Which is why they were here today. Yes, they! Of course one could not expect a mere child to attempt to adopt another child.
A tall, slender figure stepped through the doorway of the orphanage, stepping forward with only a small distance between her and Kenzo. She towered over Kenzo, and wore a long black dress that match the black of her hair and eyes. The dark of night complemented her dark figure, casting shadow here and there to give both her, and her son, an ominous aura. After a few seconds, the two of them were standing only a foot or so away from the counter. The woman leaned forward slightly, turning her head left to right and back in search of the two boys. The first boy was her son, Kenzo, and the second was Kenshin, a male who's potential was hindered by living in such a shithole.
"Where is he?"
,inquired the woman with a voice sweeter than the icing atop a red velvet cake. Who was she speaking to? The owner, of course who sat across from her on a tall wooden stool. Puzzled was the man as a random stranger approached his counter, and ask such a vague question. His lips parted to propose a question of his own, when he caught a glimpse of those dark pupils and black hair. Now he knew...
"Right this way Ma'am."
"Kenzo, go introduce yourself to your new brother. I'll wait here."
Kenzo listened closely to his mother's word, and followed her orders without question. The man behind the counter rose to a stand, and began walking down the seemingly endless hall. Kenzo followed silently.
"You know, your mother is quite beautiful. You have her eyes."
Kenzo had no reply; no comment. He simply did as he was told, and followed. The two males stopped in front of one of the man doorways that littered the long hallway, and the man opened it, shining light into the room and upon Kenshin's face. The owner began step down the long hallway he came from, leaving Kenzo, who had begun to close the distance between his new brother and himself, alone with Kenshin.

Would slowly lift his face from his hands as he heard the sounds of voices and the echoes of footsteps coming down the hallway. Looking down at his arms he tugged at the bandages that covered his forearms, not for healing purposes, but simply part of his outfit. As the door opened a ray of sunlight splashed against his face and his pure black eyes glimmered slightly in the light, even with the truly beautiful sight of them, they held a hint of his true hatred towards the world he was currently living in and the willingness to end another's life if necessary to ease his suffering, even in the slightest. Seeing an illuminated figure step into the room that was obviously much smaller than he he focused his gaze on the boy known as Kenzo. Saying nothing at the start of their meeting he simply continued sitting on the side of his bed, studying the young boy carefully, his hair and eyes, along with his style of clothing portrayed that of the traditional Uchiha clan member. Seeing he was very skinny with nearly no muscular definition, compared to Kenshin's own robust and and muscular physique they were near polar opposites of each other, and this intrigued him enough to speak to the young boy.
"What is your name child, and why have you come to such a place as this?".

In a matter of seconds, that presumed sunlight that parted the shadows could have been turned into a mass of irrepressible, wild flames that would engulf every flammable object they came in contact with, including Kenshin's body. Perhaps this would've been a fitting introduction for Kenzo, but Kenzo, who was almost always teeming with the urge to burn something, had no interest in reducing the entire building to ashes. He looked upon Kenshin with those same dark irides.
"Your coming home with us. I am Kenzo, your new brother. The woman in the lobby is your mother."
Could Kenzo have been any more blunt? Perhaps he could, if his voice wasn't so damn cute! He despised the high-pitched squeal that left his lips when he attempted to speak.

Looked at the boy with a very blank expression, which would be unreadable to the untrained eye of a child who did not understand Kenshin in the slightest. Slowly, he would raise from his bed, standing straight up he was larger and taller than most grown men, with an empty stare directed towards Kenzo he would sigh.
"For such a young child you speak very bluntly and as if you are in charge of my future. And my only response to you is, I will decide my own fate and if I will come with you and what is likely your parents here with you, is that understood child?
He spoke with little passion and what seemed like bits of anger every few words, which gave off a deep growl of a voice which overplayed even his large stature.

Ah, but who's stare lacked the most light? Those eyelids vaguely expressed Kenzo's indifference towards Kenshin's comment. Kenzo's head did not raise to look Kenshin in the eye, nor did his eyes drift upward to acknowledge Kenshin's height. Kenzo acknowledged nothing. The only thing he did acknowledge was Kenshin's existence which is why he came here tonight. But why hadn't another family come to adopt Kenshin yet? Likely it was because of the Uchiha Clan's dreaded Curse of Hatred. A boy who lost both of his parents would have likely been socially detrimental, especially with a background such as a Uchiha's.
Kenzo said nothing. He could see that he and this male demanded an almost identical form of respect. That's why he could understand. They didn't have to take shit from anyone. Those short legs carried Kenzo away, down the hall, and towards the lobby where his mother was waiting. If Kenshin was smart, he'd gather his things, and follow.

would watch as the child exited his room as quickly as he entered, at that moment he moved his gaze towards the small closet of his room and walked to it. Grabbing what little clothing he had and cracking his neck he would leave his room. Turning around to close and lock the door he would sigh and look at the floor, thinking of his father and his wish for him to never become a shinobi or even participate in clan affairs. What was he doing? He could simply stay at the orphanage until he was old enough to get a normal job and work for a living just as his father would have wished! At that moment he began hearing the noises of a roaring fire and the clash of steel causing his gaze to shoot up and away from the ground, he was remembering the day his father, one of the most powerful shinobi in the village was killed. Clenching his fists tightly he would grit his teeth, he knew his goals could only become reality with power, and he intended to use everything to his advantage to gain such power.
Walking down the hallway he would see Kenzo standing with his mother, she was tall for a woman, but still heavily overshadowed by Kenshin's massive frame. "I have prepared my things for the move" he said in his usual deep voice, completely devoid of all emotion other than pure hatred of this situation and it's showing of how reliant he actually was on others for help.

"Your a big boy, and what is your name son?"
The woman inquired with that sweet buttermilk-like voice. Kenzo, having already relayed a message to his mother, would leave the building, stepping outside in preparation for what was to come. His small figure was almost as deceiving as a grin would be stretched across his face. This Kenshin would soon find out...

"My name is Kenshin, you may lead me back to your home now if you wish".
He said quietly as he began walking towards the entrance and eventually stepping outside where he would notice Kenzo. What was he standing out here for? I suppose that would be up to him.

Kenzo stared at the dark sky above; his eyes bouncing from cloud to cloud, seemingly lost in thought, but that only lasted a moment.
"Kenzo. We're heading home now. Kenshin, you may think of me as your mother from now on. Tell me if you need, or want anything... got it sweetheart?"
Kenzo's attention turned towards his mother, along with his head. He slowly stepped beside her, and toke her hand, turning his head to look into Kenshin's eyes with his own; though only for a moment.
"This way."
She said, beginning to journey towards their home in the Uchiha District. Kenzo walked with her, knowing Kenshin would follow. Almost purposely, the woman extended her hand only a few inches away from her body as it hung at her side, welcoming Kenshin to take hold if he pleased.
