Thief in the village (d rank mission)

Hysterio was glad his progress towards learning the Genjutsu: Shibari technique was going well, but he wished it would go faster, frankly. Right now his incomplete version of the technique was not helpful except as a minor distraction. That would not be good, especially as he had been given another mission, one of many today, probably the fifth or so, he was not sure anymore. He really needed a snack now, if he was completely honest with himself. Still, he would be able to fit in another mission before the snack came.

A thief was stealing stuff, mostly from crowds, and Hysterio was assigned to bring the troublemaker to justice. He waded through the lunchtime crowds, and saw a suspicious looking man with a large coat, who would walk slowly walk around the outside of groups congregrated in the village square. All the while he was making weird motions, and a few times Hysterio thought he saw something weird happen from his vantage point above but he was not sure.

He walked down into the village square, slowly approaching the suspicious person. He tailed the other from behind, making sure to stay far away from him, while trying to have a clear line of sight at his hands.

Hysterio watched, and the man eventually walked over to a group on the edge. Then Hysterio could clearly see that he was trying to pickpocket people. Catching the thief’s eye, Hysterio attempted to paralyze him using the Genjutsu Shibari technique. While he did not quite succeed, he did manage to catch a few pictures of the thief while he was paused, the sound of the shutter on the camera distracting the group from their conversation, who found out rather quickly that the suspicious man had been up to something next to them.

Hysterio figured he needed to use more chakra with the Genjutsu Shibari technique, though he was definitely getting closer. He hauled the thief off to the police station, stolen items showing through the opening in the thief’s coat.
