Mental's Plane with Lightning Gain

The scene was set. It was a stormy night on the slightly ominous mountains of the cloud village otherwise known as Kumogakure. In his room once more, Nejonin sat thinking of more techniques to learn. He had just gained some footing with the wind element as well as learned a new jutsu. Feeling rather inspired by his ability to quickly adapt and learn new jutsus and general styles, he wanted to keep his momentum going. “Hmm, I seem to be on a roll right now and I should use it to the best of my ability by doing as much as I can before I get bored again. Now…. What to learn is the question. I suppose I do enjoy having balance, and I do have the lightning and wind elements. Since I also have currently one jutsu using the wind style, I should also have a lightning style jutsu to compensate on the other side of the balance.” Nejonin had the perfect technique in mind. It was called Raition Jibashi. It allowed the user to stream out a wave of lightning from his or her hands. If he had recalled correctly, it had a range of around five meters which was near his optimal fighting range. As the rain thudded the tiled roof of his cold house, he gathered his things as he did every time he would train. Equipped with backpack, notebook, and pens, he set off onto the rainy paths through the front door. Nejonin never enjoyed walking in the rain. Well, he did, just not with his combat sandals. He sped off to the oddly secluded and rather excluded from the village, training grounds. Ahh yes. He was in his zone, the rock clearing’s center. “Ehhh, I guess I’ll keep my backpack on me for today. I rather not let it touch the ground because if I get my notes wet, I’ll probably just head home immediately.” Nearly breaking his arm, Nejonin dug his right hand into his backpack while he was still wearing in search for a scroll he had written on earlier. He grasped once he felt the object and reeled it out for his visual assessing. “I don’t really mind if this scroll gets wet in the rain. It’s basically scrap paper to me.” He said opening it quickly with water trickling along his arms, head, and hands. On the scroll were all the hand signs he’d need to remember for this jutsu. There wasn’t too many to the point that it would prove to be relatively difficult. However, it also wasn’t in so few numbers that he wouldn’t need to write them down at all. “Let’s see… Boar… Ram… Snake… Horse… and Dragon… Now how in the hell will I remember these?” Nejonin wasn’t the best for remembering random information. Luckily, this technically wasn’t random information at all. Since all bodies come built in with a functioning system of muscle memory, remembering the hand signs wouldn’t be too difficult as long as he did them a few times.
- - - - “Alright let’s go…” He began to perform the seals one by one. His worst seal out of these would likely or more so absolutely be ram. Ram felt generally like an awkward position to put one’s hands. He even had trouble with this while inside of the academy. As of now, it isn’t much of a bother. And as to be expected, his best seal transition would be anything into the rat hand sign. It wasn’t like any of that was related to his being in the Nara clan. . . He began with boar, ram then snake… then horse and dragon. The first time held a few stumbles here and there but nothing that was too difficult to fix. Nejonin ran through, this time, at a faster speed than his prior. Surprisingly, little was fumbled on. Near perfect execution. Since he wasn’t actually trying to perform the jutsu as well, no effects of his lightning chakra could be seen. All that was around was many shards of rain falling and the sound of a barrage of droplets blitzing the ground below at various angles. “They wanted beef but I never knew. I just keep the peace and get revenue. Stay true, they never do. Cut all ties, I’ll sever you.” Nejonin thought in his mind while seeming paused in real life. It appeared that he had terrible focus at this time. “Hmm… It must be all the sound of this rain. Normally, people describe it as melodic but I’d say the opposite when it’s this heavy.” He tried to fade his mind of superfluous thoughts that didn’t pertain to his current task of learning this new jutsu to add into his arsenal. After much time of repeating the signs, they were fully memorized to him now. “Alright, let’s try adding some chakra into the mix.” Nejonin performed the signs once more, this time, allowing his lightning chakra to travel through his chakra points. For a Genin, his chakra control was rather superb. After finishing the last sign in the sequence, a little shock went running along both of his arms making his hairs stand even in the liquefying rain. He stepped back from this unwarned shocking. “God damn… That was more than I expected.” Nejonin presumed it was due to odd placement of one of his fingers during the signs. Still for some reason, the sequence of hand signs seemed irregular to most he had seen before. He guessed that he was also used to ending in the rat sign opposed to having it in the middle of something. So instinctively, he’d had a slight pause after performing rat as if he were at the end of a jutsu. Being African-American is was very unusual to see his hair spiked up perfectly like that. He stared down at his right arm and while trying to pat it all back down with his left hand. “Heh, this looks like a floor of black nails or sharp mini fangs.” It was an odd way to put it. But, it was true.
After getting set up, focused, and placed in the attentive mode once more. Nejoinin prepared for another attempt at his lighting wave jutsu. This time, he would try to critically analyze everything that was occurring then break it down into multiple steps to find the pros and cons of each style of attempt he was going for. First, Nejonin positioned into a squat like spot with both hands on corresponding knees. To relax his body, he took five deep breaths that tasted of plant oil and fresh water from the clouds. This was the moment to kick in his Nara state of mind where no detail can go by his mental sensor like a thousand falcons searching for prey high in the sky. No ground critter would be capable of escaping the inevitable grasping and gripping clutches and talons. He lifted his hands and arms once more, feeling the water travel down them. The seals were easily done and short lived. With each sign performed, the chakra felt as if it was traveling down a set of pipes that could result in a variety of conclusions by taking various paths within the pipes. Each turn signified another path taken. Once the final sign was completed, the path was set and quickly rushed the full surge of electric or rather lightning chakra. Like a bolt of lightning rushing the ground near instantly through a sky of blank darkness and moon above, Nejonin puts his maximum effort into the technique. He extends his arms to their full length and opens hands fully. A slight blue aura resembling that of a lightning technique grew around the shape of his hands. “Looks like I’ve almost got it. Just a little bit more of stabilization and I should be fine.” This moment was generally overhyping Nejonin. He quickly lost his chill which was mentally tied with how effective his stabilizing of jutsus was. Nejonin decided to take a short break and think about how he could advance and progress now. “So I tried twice. The second went considerably better than the first which resulted in a raging shock along my arms. The second showed more stability. However, once I noticed this, it made me lose stabilization. Hmm…” Speaking of progression, the rainstorm of above have changed into a slight thunder storm with lightning showing up here and there.
Nejonin wished a bolt of lightning would strike near him. This would probably kick him into a lightning style mode if anything could. He would try once more. Nejonin would also try planting his open hands on the rocky surface below in hopes of producing a different more potent lightning effect than whatever he had created off the air. It made sense that creating the lightning wave was harder while producing it entirely in an air environment. Lightning and air are the best of friends in terms of physics. With a surface to conduct along, the task would prove or should prove to be much easier. Hopes were that metallic minerals were left in pieces here and there within the training grounds’ rocky under layer. If this were to be the case, the conducting of the lightning chakra would be even more apparent and easy to perform. Hopefully, the changing of the environment would yield better results for his learning of Raiton Jibashi. - - - - Nejonin planted his hands on the cold bare palm chilling rock surfaces below him. Making sure not to slip his hands on any of the few jagged edges that rose up like mini mountains, he maneuvered into a fully push up type position. “Wait a minute…” He said with a self-laughing look flashing across his face. “How in the hell am I supposed to perform my hand seals now?” Well this was a total crack in the road that he was driving on. Hmm…. Nejonin tried using his head to lift the majority of his body against the rock. He had to quickly perform the hand signs as doing this for too long would result in a painful headache that would probably stay resilient for a couple of days. After the completion of the final sign, he quickly pressed his hands into the ground and lifted his head returning into his prior push up like format. He felt the lightning surge within his arms once more as sparks began at all of his fingertips. “Finally, some progression. I just need to fully keep this stabilized for the power can continue to rise.” The outer fingertips began to fade of sparks leaving only the middle fingers. These sparks grew into a little arcing blue flame that moved by only in a small location, that being around .25 meters from both of his middle fingers. This lightning grew more so until shooting out along the ground in a rigid pattern resembling a snake taking sharp turns. This stretched out for around a meter. “Hmm… Odd. It is supposed to form a full circular wave of lightning spreading from the point of jutsu use along any surface. Again, this hasn’t gone as expected.” Nejonin stops his constant stream of chakra into the technique to evaluate what is happening and not waste chakra. “Just if I knew someone who already knew this technique, learning it would be much easier. Despite lightning being his true affinity, this wasn’t the easiest of task ever done by the ninja Nejonin.
The storm had faded now to a slight and continuous drizzle of rain. At this point, it did not positively or negatively affect Nejonin’s training. Repetition would have to basically be the only answer possible at this point. He already knew the feeling of lightning and understood it quite well. But, there had to be some pivotal sequence step of the jutsu that he was missing. Had he forgotten a seal or two? Possible his hand placement was wrong. Maybe, he need to have the adrenaline of the battlefield to make him fully perform what he had been practicing for so long. “I only have one more possible way of training this tedious technique. This way of training would be classified as mental battling or mental combat simulating. I’ve tried it before and generally it did work wonders. However, it’s not the most simplistic task in the ninja world.” Nejonin pushed himself against a rock along the perimeter and began his thinking face. “Because entering the world of mental battle, a shinobi must classify the setting of the encounter with superb detail. This is required because thinking of the actual fight at the same time while randomly generating the terrain that is also tied to a specific theme proves to be extremely difficult even to those of high mental aptitude. Let’s see… I’ll create the peak of a mountain range with a few high points around it as well. In the center, stands a large rocky flat. To the left and are two slightly smaller flats. There is one on each side. Below, are massive earth spikes meaning falling is death. High in the clouds, is a large thunder storm with arcs of lightning dancing along the gloomy sky of sorrow. These flashes temporarily blind those within the battle if they are close enough. While the mountain flats appear to be flat, they are random ridges and shifts in the texture and plating of the surface. First step is completed. Scene is set. Now to complete step two which is figuring out what type of opponent I’ll be battling. Hmm… I’ll battle a female from the Leaf. Her specializations are ninjutsu and taijutsu. She utilizes the fire and wind elements. Her speed is exceptionally fast and she has a ride or die attitude making her relentless on the battlefield with ease. Better yet… I’ll battle two ninja. The other will be male. He specializes in medical ninjutsu and genjutsu. His elements are lightning and earth. He isn’t the fastest but his precision in movements makes him deadly and both close and long ranges. It is unlikely that I’ll be able to take them both down with ease so for now, I’ll try my best until I manage to fully eliminate the entire team. I’m not the best for killing people and being happy about it, however this is just a training simulation. The average difficulty their efficiency at being a ninja will be set around Jonin level. This should be interesting.” Finally, another route to follow the path of learning his jutsu. Nejonin knew he couldn’t fail. He was definitely a man on a mission. He pushed himself off the rock and looked up into the blank sky. Feeling the sweat or possible rain trickle down along his eyebrows, Nejonin quickly swipes his hand on his forehead. He faced forward once more and gained casual footing and stance. “Now… The battle begins.” This moment would be labeled as the infinite transition. It is where the ninja, to enter the mental battle zone, must fully tune out all external information that is currently being received. Most would consider this a form of high focus as if meditation. The topics are very close. Nejonin beings to think in the echoing blank room of his mind once more. “I know I’m talking to myself here but…. I hope you understand that feeling when you stare blankly at one thing for so long that everything around seems to fade and lose color turning to black and white in contrast of full color.” This was the state the he was currently in. A great lightning flash blinded his mental vision. Nejonin began feeling rain pounded his skull from above. The taste of salt and the smell of fresh rocks polluted the air. He opened his eyes. There he was standing on the smaller right rock flat. Ahead of him, he could see the much larger center flat. Around in all directions was a massive world of clouds thundering and lightning flashing. “I’ll try this just in good hopes that it may work.” Nejonin said. The rain and booms of the surrounding terrain nearly made his thoughts sound silent. He bent down and began to attempt another performance of Raiton: Jibashi. Planting his hands on the ground, lightning spewed forward in a chain like pattern once more. “Ehhh, still isn’t how it is supposed to be.” Nejonin felt something closing in. “Oh shit!” Nejonin flipped to the side in a speed strafing like motion. Nearly a second after, a boom sounded of rock like collision sounded just a few steps away. This had to be the male ninja’s doing. Both partners didn’t possess the earth style. Then again, it could have been debris from another style of attack. But, that is unlikely. Just as Nejonin thought, the male ninja appeared on the other side of the smaller earth flat. The distance between them was large enough for a volley of long range attacks. Sadly, Nejonin possessed only Raiton: Jibashi in this battle because that’s what he wanted to train. Well… he possessed whatever he had of the jutsu per se. Only a silhouette could be seen in the distance. “I can only use the JIbashi. Which means I must successfully close the distance between us before even having a chance at this battle. Nejonin quickly began running full speed at his opponent. He felt like the wind when in his evasion mode. A few rather large rocks propelled towards him at top speed. Nejonin expected these with ease and wouldn’t get hit. Now with the distance being closed even more, the earth below began to crumble. Nejonin performed a large jump approaching his opponent and prepares for a descent attack. Flying down now feeling the wind zipping along him, Nejonin performed his Raition: Jibashi. He held his right hand down ready to grab the skull of his opponent and pound it quickly into the rocks below. Lightning grew from his right hand in a circular pattern fully wrapping around him nearly due to his moving forward. “What? It finally worked? Yes!!” - - -
Nejonin was close now. He would finish his opponent. With just a few seconds before impact, a solid wall of wind hit him from the left side. “Boom!” yelled the air around. Nejonin broke into a spiral of confusion making him incapable of figuring out his aerial position. “What the hell was tha-.“ He felt another punch this time seeming like rock knocking him down. He opened his eyes fully and saw he was plummeting down the nearly vertical mountain now. He was moving fast and was very close to the wall’s surface. “I’ve only got one chance of making it out of this.” He instinctively grabbed for the wall to stop his descent. Nejonin screamed a little inside when he put his hand along the wall and felt the feeling of twenty or so rocks passing it. “Wait a minute… How dumb am I?” he thought. The spikes were getting closer. “Raiton! Jibashi” Nejonin performed his jutsu once more this time concentrating the release around his fingertips instead of his whole palm. Using the lightning release which was specifically purposeful for penetrating objects, he dug his hands with a clawing motion into the wall. This great reduced the friction received and pain on his fingers. After around six seconds or so, he gained solid gripping and stopped his descent. “Whew… I won’t look down… I’m guessing the spikes are very close. I need to return to the battlefield. Being on this wall is a death trap.” Something about training his jutsus while in actual combat just made learning so much easier for him. One attempt in battle felt like twenty without it.
Using his Jibashi gripping, Nejonin scaled the rocky mountain side with great speed. He later arrived on the field. It seems both of the ninjas where on the center flat waiting for him. He quickly made his way and they both turned to his direction. The distance once more was large and required closing in. This time, he wouldn’t take his eye off that female ninja. He played a support role and likely prioritized the defense of her medical ninja. “I’ll rush in now before they can formulate any reasonable plan that could put be down. I should likely focus on the female ninja as well and try to counter her using the jibashi.” Nejonin quickly switched to his on the move mode. He moved closer and closer in small time. “What… Why aren’t they attacking? They should be trying to stop my closing of distance.” He continued his pursuit of the both of them when the girl jumped off to the side nearly fading out of Nejonin’s field of view. “Nope.” He thought snapping his direction to follow her. He flashed a few handsigns and flipped high into the air above him. The girl stopped where she landed on the ground. Nejonin was now high above her and preparing for another descent attack. “I won’t fail this time.” He threw a few kunai off to the, now moving in for assistance, male ninja. Now with lightning in hand, he landed on the female ninja with hand on skull and threw her into the ground. “Success.” He stumbled quite some from his landing as well. He looked over to the earth ninja who was still tailing him. Nejonin began running his way in preparation for counter attack. The earth ninja was closing in around 15 meters away. A fast projectile began to stream towards Nejonin. “Oh… Seems I’ve forgotten his ability to use lightning release. Actually, this works out. I have something that I want to test out.” He wanted to know if his hands could withstand catching lighting if they were already coated in it. Once again, he utilized Raiton: Jibashi and activated it by clapping his hands to simulate a surface activation. The seeming lightning arrow was closing in on him now. He stretched out his arms and put his hands in a position as if he were firing a beam from them. The blue streaks dance along them. The bolt neared his own hands and bang, he felt it connect. It seemed like a surge of extra lightning chakra. “I wonder if this will help develop my lightning use… Countering others.” It knocked him over quite a bit but the damage was lower than what was to be expected from a direct hit. Nejonin’s vision was a little blurry now. He was staring directly up into the grey cloud filled sky. That’s when the world began to fade again. But, this wasn’t due to him leaving the mental simulation world. “What the….” The world faded in once more. Now, Nejonin felt a pain in his chest. He coughed up a bit of blood onto himself. Looking down, he realized he was impaled slightly by one of the massive earth spikes from below. “Damn… How did they do this? Wait…. I know… When I looked at the ninja while throwing kunai at him. There was a slight pause in the world it seemed. It was in the moment, so I didn’t mention it much. But what type of genjutsu….” Nejonin canceled his mental world and returned to the physical. He found himself sweating while standing up. Mental exhaustion can feel physical as well. “Now… to see if it was all worth the time that this took.” He walked forward once more to the common training rock clearing center. He crouched down as if kneeling and looked to his feet. “Raiton…. Jibashi…..” With quick moving hands and fingers, he performed all the required hand signs. The transition was simple. Boar, Ram, Snake, Horse, Dragon. Feeling the chakra course through his arms and to his hands, he collided them with the floor. Lightning grew from his position rolling along the ground in all directions making a fine arcing circle. This eventually touched the perimeter of the clearing. He finished his jutsu and stood up. “Mission accomplished. Now, it’s time to return home. I’m tired as hell.”
