Sunlight Meditation [Kiranomo] Empty Sunlight Meditation [Kiranomo]

Fri Feb 05, 2016 3:33 pm
In Koz's cultivation method... no, in the method of his sect, the Ban Hui sect of the Hyuuga clan, there was a method by which people managed to "break through" layers. Initially, there were the nine Qi layers, and two Ling Qi layers. Then, there were levels of mastery after that, which were the better ones. 1st Yuan and 2nd Hui were the layers that physical masters were able to accomplish, and after that, the 3rd Fen layer. Those of the 3rd Fen layer were called magisters. These were capable of even shooting fireballs from their own mouths! He had even heard of talented ones with dual element systems. These were far and few in between, and many with dual element systems were actually farther up on the chain. Those who had attained such a thing at lower levels were worthy of the title "genius". These were people whose innate potential was strong, indeed, and they had a bright and limitless future. After the 3rd Fen layer came the 4th Xiang layer. Those who attained the 4th Xiang layer were known as "master", and often acted as tutors to the younger ones and initiates in the Qi layers. However, they were not quite as talented as the "genius" people who spent the time cultivating diligently and developing their own power.

After the 4th Xiang layer came the 5th Xing. 5th Xing cultivators were known  as "envoys"; that is, envoys to the spirit world, and the realms of powerful qi beasts and spirit animals. Even natural beasts could have envoys visit them at times. He had heard of some ninja who were capable of forcefully summoning beasts and animals into this world, but the envoys went to them instead. They communed with them and gained knowledge and profundity from it. As such, envoys were greatly respected among the sect's circles, and had great talent.
After this came the 6th He layer, which had the notation of "ancestor". At this layer, many of its members had found ways to prolong their life using cultivation and world qi, which the ninja named "spirit energy and physical energy", or "chakra". What a vulgar name for a beautiful concept. Still, they were the same thing. The Dao, or Way, was achieved through the cycling of this energy, and the purification of one's body, mind, and soul. Without this, ones foundation could not grow, and one could not become a cultivator.

After the 6th He layer came the 7th Xing layer. Koz had always wondered why the 5th and 7th layers had the same name, but it was not he who had named the cultivation layers. Still, he felt that he could have named them better. Perhaps small things like this were the little rebellions in his character and personality that made him a normal human being. Or maybe, he was just a weirdo like the ninja in the academy. The more he hung around them, the more he felt out of place. None of them were really concentrated on cultivation at all... they all wanted to fulfill their own hopes and dreams brashly, and to "become hokage", or something like that. Koz had no such desire. He wanted to become the strongest, yes, but he was willing to wait. What was crucial among the sect's teachings was the concept of "foundation". If one's foundation was not wide, strong, and especially pure, then he would reach a bottleneck in training before he even reached the limit of his innate potential. This was terrible for any sect member, as the innate potential was the dream of any cultivator. Even some of the elders with 6th He and 7th Xing potential had not yet reached that point, even though their power was great. This was because they had rushed during their youths, and so now had to rebuild their entire foundation. Such was the brashness of some people, something Koz tried hard to avoid.

After the 7th Xing monarchs came the 8th Fa members, which were called "kings" by many. This was because their willpower was so dominant that by their soul and spirit energy alone, they could deal great damage to someone else. To be crippled by merely a stare... that was great humiliation indeed. As far as he knew, there was only one person with 8th Fa innate potential, and that was the Red Elder of the sect, Li Xuan Hyuuga, who was a cocky and rude old man. Apparently, long before the sect had been founded, he had taken over his family in an angry fit of power. Even before that, he had been known as a weak loser, but one day, his innate power shot up to 8th Fa in level. How amazing, he thought. But still.... not good enough. After all, he had yet to talk about his own innate potential.

After this were 9th Ming lords, 10th Fang martial emperors, 100th Jie saints, Grand Jie immortals, and 1000th Zun gods. Of these, there were none known to the world in his sect, but he knew of one. His own innate potential was that of the 100th Jie layer, and if he breathed in more natural elements and world qi, he could get there in maybe ten or twenty thousand years. By that time, he might even be as old as the great Li Xuan, but who knew? Someone might snuff out his life or destroy his cultivation before then, and then he'd be trash.

As it was, he was sitting in a forest clearing in the area around Konoha, in a meditation position. Cross legged on the ground, with one hand each on its corresponding knee, with the back of the hand touching the leg and the palm facing up to the sky. His eyes were closed, and he was attempting to attain something called the "unification state", with little success. At the moment, Koz was a genius at the age of 13, having already attained the 7th Qi layer, and he was hoping to break through to the Ling Qi layers and maybe even 1st Yuan by the age of 16. What he wanted, though, was to somehow go faster without rendering his foundation too small.... maybe he could find someone to teach him? At the moment, though, he was wrapped in concentration, trying to plumb the natural secrets within him.

Sunlight Meditation [Kiranomo] Empty Re: Sunlight Meditation [Kiranomo]

Fri Feb 05, 2016 5:03 pm
She rushed through the borders of konohakagure, racing the two small drakes who's wings beat heavily in an attempt to keep up with the speed of the girl. She'd slowed significantly to allow them to match of course, keeping her pace just enough that she kept a heads length in front of her two summons, but still the two, unaware of this fact, pushed harder and faster to try and catch up. Her destination was fairly simple. Each day, assuming there weren't more important things to accomplish within the time she had alloted, she'd head to a very special spot hidden from most at the edge of the forest. She'd labored intently for days to clear out the opening she used as a training zone, moving away trees, removing folliage, and setting things to be exactly as she'd wished them to be.... which is why it was always so unbelievably confusing and almost upsetting that over the course of a month a hand full of shinobi from the leave village, all of witch had two elaborite training areas within their village that she generally shied away from because of the distaste the village seemed to have for her, somehow constantly found themselves in exactly the fifteen meter ring she'd created. it would seem this would be another of those days.

She sensed the boy with her chakra sensory, not that it was needed as the deep red eyes she'd stolen so long ago granted her sensory far past even that of what she'd learned through experience. There was, as usual, a boy sitting precisely on her spot.... Well more correctly a better a meter shy of the log she'd claimed as her spot, but almost precisely on her spot, meditating and preparing for something or the other. "Of all the days" she whispered, motioning for  summons to slip under the long black cloak bearing her place as head of the Nara clan. With a quick flap of their wings the pair changed course, slipping under the garment and attaching themselves to the seemingly steel plating of Kira's coils of the goddess armor.

SHe approached, not cautiously, but as someone with a possition of athority, searching the boy's form before speaking to him for any signs of who or what he was. If she saw anything denoting his heritage she would simply nod, eitherwise she'd address him. "And.... Who might you be little bird that you've strayed so far from your nest...." As she spoke her sudden stop in momentum about ten meters from the boy caused the small silver pendant with the hyuuga symbol in the center to bounce against the plates that framed her chest. her hand almost instinctively sent to the raven faced mask at her side but she stopped. This was no time to impersonate an anbu.

Sunlight Meditation [Kiranomo] Empty Re: Sunlight Meditation [Kiranomo]

Fri Feb 05, 2016 5:32 pm
He knew that once he broke through the Ling Qi layers and attained at least 5th Xing envoy level, he'd be able to use some kind of ability that let him sense whether or not people were near him, and just how powerful they were, and how far they'd cultivated. Such a thing was important, as it let him know just how far ahead or how far behind he was. At the moment, he didn't not know that there was someone coming towards his location, as there was nothing in his repertoire of skills that would allow him to do this. Nevertheless, he was still engaged in the process of meditation. He knew that there were four steps he had to follow in order to attain, and then break through the Ling Qi layers and into 1st Yuan. Once this was done, then surely, the rare free cultivators around him who had been sent forth by the Ban Hui sect would give him respect as the genius of the clan. However, he wasn't THAT hungry for recognition, and was still trying to attain unification. Elder Li Xuan had been able to attain unification, and when he did, his sensory skills became (as he described it) some kind of "mind's eye", which was able to see all around. He was able to look at the people around him and examine their cultivation, and even the chemicals within fruit. Now that... that was the power of someone with 8th Fa king innate potential!

Regardless, here he was, meditating. The four steps needed to reach 1st Yuan were the following:

Breathing in air, and turning it into spirit.
Turning the spirit back into air, and expelling it.
Turning the spirit into nothingness, that is to say, nothing tangible.
Turning the nothingness into "Dao", or "the Way".

As of yet, he knew that to merely reach the first of the two Ling Qi layers, he would have to expel the impurities in his body. This wasn't toxins, but rather, the spots in his foundation. He breathed in, and almost smiled. This was good, he could feel the world qi and nature elements filling his body, and going through his meridians. This must be a good spot to train... there was quite the concentration of world qi here. Maybe if he looked around a bit, he would be able to find a plant that was rich and swelling with the stuff, so that he could take it to a sect member so they could refine it into a profound pill. This would help his cultivation, and might even force him up a tenth of an advanced layer! A whole tenth! That might be equal to two whole Qi layers! Such a thing was rare and highly valued. If it was known that one was in a person's possession, there would be many willing to kill for something like that. Cultivators were odd folk when looked upon by outside society, but somethings, like human nature, were very rarely changed.

Only in some circumstances like Elder Li Xuan, Elder Lin Feng, and Proctector Xiao could things like that change. People like them had been "baptised in tribulation lightning" so to speak, so their souls were the strongest in the sect. He didn't have time to think about some of their grand life stories now, but their anecdotes were things to learn from. Xiao had made mistakes in his early life, and was still paying for some of them. The lesson? "Train your foundation and make it flawless." This meant not trying to learn techniques too quickly. "It is better to practice a single technique a thousand times than to train a thousand techniques only once." Now, that was an often-repeated saying around the sect. He believed it too... he hadn't even learned a single one of his clan's gentle fist techniques, something that everyone of the second Ling Qi layer or beyond could perform at least one move of. Then again, Koz wasn't jealous. He was not quite there yet, but he would be at some point in the future. His 100th Jie innate potential demanded of it! To not reach his potential was not a good thing, he knew well.

At that point, Koz was holding his breath for eight seconds, letting the qi enter his dantian. What's a dantian? It was what many of the people around him called a "hara", or a "chakra center". Whereas the sect called the chakra network meridians, it called the core of those meridians the "dantian". Within Koz's dantian were thirteen energy channels that brought in world qi and nature elements that he inhaled from all over his body. Each of these had a specific role, but he didn't have to think about that right now. He could feel the energy pouring in, and forming a vortex that settled in his dantian.

It was like a large centrifuge, settling out the impurities... or at least, almost all of them. Nothing was truly perfect until he was able to attain "perfect nature unification". Unknown to him, this involved something that ninjas called "nature chakra", but Koz was not yet at that stage of knowledge or proficiency yet. He was merely someone who had just reached the latter levels of "initiate".

At that moment, he heard a female voice in front of him and choked, almost coughing up blood (just a metaphor, no worries). Opening his eyes, he felt the vortex in his dantian stopping. Damn, he had been close. If he hadn't been interrupted, maybe he would have broken through to the eigth Qi layer! Then he could start taking on other roaming sect members in legitimate learning matches. He might even get a standing in the Life and Death Arena! Oh well, whoever had interrupted him must have had a good reason. After all, he was only an initiate. He had no right, as of yet, to question others who might be out here, whether friend or foe.

Opening his eyes, he looked up at the female who was standing in front of him.

Ahh, I must not sin, he thought. Of all the people on earth, some of the most dangerous were women. Still, he hoped that she was not there to harm his cultivation.

"En...", he began, in a sign of confirmation, "I am Koz of the Ban Hui sect of the Hyuuga clan." He had no issues revealing who he was, as this wasn't a political situation. Had it been some kind of official foreign meeting, then he might have hidden his true identity, but lying when it wasn't required would probably taint his foundation.

"I am here, cultivating and attempting to break through to the next layer." He would speak in a calm tone, but not necessarily a gregarious one. Honestly, he wanted to see who she was. Over-curiosity, though, when expressed in a way that she might take wrong, could cause her to act against him. That wasn't good either. He hadn't seen her before, and her apparel wasn't of the sect. He was merely wearing his orange t-shirt and sweats, since his cultivation robes were in the wash at the moment. How unfortunate.

Sunlight Meditation [Kiranomo] Empty Re: Sunlight Meditation [Kiranomo]

She'd simply nod as he spoke, analyzing the way he put words together. She was smart, or at least had always considered herself of incredible intelligence.... but most of what this boy was saying made absolutely no sense. She decided at this point it wasn't a lack of knowledge, but instead a different kind of intelegence. Yea... that sounds good.

"And what brings you from the safety of your village Koz to sit in my training area exactly?" She watched the boy intently, considering exactly waht had happened as she spoke. Had Maloren sent him? It would make sense considering they were both of the hyuuga clan. She'd have to break a bone or two as punishment maybe. She purposely didn't speak her name, deciding it best to await his actual inquiry before revealing information about herself, particularly because she wasn't fully sure he was speaking honestly. if he was a hyuuga.... Where was the byakugan? As always it completely went over her head that she, a member of the hyuuga clan was sporting a three tomoe sharingan in place of their clan's trademarked eyes.

Sunlight Meditation [Kiranomo] Empty Re: Sunlight Meditation [Kiranomo]

Fri Feb 05, 2016 6:12 pm
Oh, so either this really was her training area, or she was trying to bully him out of a place. Hmm, if his strength was higher, he might have made a stand for himself, because of his own independence, but at the moment, his cultivation was just begun. He was far too weak to do anything right now. He didn't have any weapons to use his energy with, and he didn't know any combat skills, only the breathing technique. And honestly, breathing in world qi was something anyone could do. Normal people called it "channeling chakra". It was then that he realized that she might be... a ninja?

It was clear that she was not a cultivator, so there was a good chance she was a ninja. In that case, he could get her to maybe reveal how good her foundation was. If it was wide and powerful, if the spirit of it was good, then he might be able to learn something. If not, well... he'd learn something anyway. Even the smallest grasshopper had lessons from which to glean knowledge on the path to enlightenment. Even the largest and clumsiest whale could teach him something about the workings of nature and world qi.

"Ah, I am sorry." He stood up, cupping one hand in the other and bowing. "Having just been released out into the world by my sect, I did not know this was your training area." Rising up from his bow, he'd wear a semi-smile on his face, but not a derisive one. It was one that showed that he was on the path to simple unification. "It is a good place, indeed. There is much world qi here, and you will surely reach your innate potential here faster than if you were to train in those filthy grounds in the village."

Those places didn't have much of the valuable things in them, such as nature systems. But here, out beyond civilization, there was somehow more world qi? It was odd, but as part of nature, he accepted it. Still, this meant that he'd have to roam somewhere else, then break through to the eigth Qi layer. That being said, he was still hoping that this female wouldn't hurt him. If she did, he hoped even further that she wouldn't cripple him. Even beyond that, he hoped that she wouldn't cripple his dantian or his cultivation. That would be the most shameful thing.

"If you wish me to leave, then I will leave." He'd face her, waiting her response. Of course, if she wanted him to get out, it would be fine. The sect had already told him of a yellow-level technique he needed to train, that being the mutation replica technique. The vulgar academy students called it the "clone technique", and that was shorter to say, so Koz stuck with that one instead. While meditating, he had started working on it, and was feeling that he was progressing towards it, as well as his bloodline limit.

Sunlight Meditation [Kiranomo] Empty Re: Sunlight Meditation [Kiranomo]

"I can imagine the pain. I was given less freedom then most within the hyuuga house myself as being allowed to roam free could bring dishonor or some mumbo jumbo. I spent my entire time through the academy escourted to class and back into my home, unable to go anywhere outside of the district because I did not possess the eyes.... Though I suppose i didn't find out the reasoning until much later." She thought back to her childhood. Truly it'd seemed to the outsiders as if she was royalty, escorted by two hyuuga jounin to the hand full of places she was actually allowed to go. She hadn't known at the time simply because none had bothered to inform her that she wasn't born of the clan. it wasn't until nearly her graduation that she'd asked to learn the gentle fist style and was turned down due to her inability.

"I've no need to run you out. You aren't the first to have find my little hide out... Or the fifth. More so I suppose i was interested in if you'd been sent here or if you came here of your own volition. It seems like everytime I show up a new student or genin is sitting on my log or training in my training circle unaware of how it came to be or even that an area this large with no underbrush or trees with convenient wooden seating wasn't actually part of nature. Kind of makes me feel like I'm being followed..... And I haven't been followed since I was allowed on my own outside of the hyuuga district."

Sunlight Meditation [Kiranomo] Empty Re: Sunlight Meditation [Kiranomo]

Sat Feb 06, 2016 10:45 am
Dishonor? No, he had not been sent into the world because he had made the sect lose face, even though he knew that there were some who had been. Poor Na Lan Hai had had his cultivation crippled by the Protector Xiao after he had cheated in the tournament. With a crippled cultivation, he could only be kicked out of the sect after being beat up by various other disciples, some of which used to be his "friends". In the fact of a limited future, a future where his dantian was so damaged that it wouldn't even receive world qi, what was he but a worm?

Regardless, he'd done nothing to make the Ban Hui sect lose face at all.

"On the contrary", he began politely, "I guess I was happy within the walls of the sect. I learned much growing up there, and I have been released into the world to advance my cultivation. Unlike the rest, though, I'm trying to take it as slowly as I can, and find the nature of my foundation spirit." In his naivety, Koz had not quite thought about whether or not the person in front of him understood anything of what he was saying. After all, he was only thirteen. Even though he was a genius in terms of innate potential, he hadn't quite learned the ways of the world yet. As such, he was prone to errors like this.

Moving on from that subject, though...

"Ah, I came here on my own." This was completely true. "As I said before, this place is pretty good for training and meditation..." even thought both meant the same to him, "... which is why I was here." He didn't mention, again, that it was outside of the village, away from all the noise pollution, normal pollution, and the distracting revels of the other students around him. Without these things to clutter his mind, he could easily train his dantian.

"You were also part of the Hyuuga house, though? I haven't seen you in the sect, which means you must be part of the normal branches. How fortunate, then, that I was able to meet you! Have you reached your bloodline limit... er, the byakugan yet?" Of course, being unskilled in the refined medical arts, he had no clue how the doujutsu actually worked, other than the more natural elements he channeles through his ocular meridian, the more intangible energy he could feel building up within them. Was this the way? If he could achieve what normal ninja did simply by meditating and training internally, then he would be growing in power without having to sweat and grunt like the rest.

Nevertheless, he was curious now, but restrained it outwardly. Foundation above all else, he thought to himself grimly. But this female... if she really was part of the hyuuga clan, then maybe she could give him a unique way to reach his innate potential, or at the very least, break through to the Ling Qi layer.

Sunlight Meditation [Kiranomo] Empty Re: Sunlight Meditation [Kiranomo]

"Ah, yes yes. Well My existence within the hyuuga was an interesting time.... You're far too young to understand the dark past surrounding our clan." It wasn't really her story to tell. She'd luckily been absent, even if she was a potential turning point.... Or would have been had her blood the ability to activate the curse of her mothers bloodline. This boy was most likely the first generation born after the great war within the village hidden in the leaf.

She drifted off into her own thoughts as he continued to talk, her eyes shifting away in deep concentration until he mentioned her existence within the hyuuga. With a twitch she snapped back to reality right about the point when he suggested not having seen her. "Um. Yes. I go to visit from time to time. I'm welcome within the sect as a second home buy my responsibilities often keep me away. I wasn't born into the clan as much as addopted. It's a strange story that goes into the not so pretty aspects of what our clan has done in the past but, I dont have the power of the eyes. I discovered after a short trip from the village that my father was from the Nara clan and my mother... It doesn't matter. They both died before I was old enough to know them and the hyuuga took me in. As a bastard I dont know quite what my family did of the clan secrets but i was able to learn the basics of the gentle fist style at least in theory. "

Sunlight Meditation [Kiranomo] Empty Re: Sunlight Meditation [Kiranomo]

Sat Feb 06, 2016 2:41 pm
Indeed, the sect hadn't told him much about the history of the clan, or even of the sect. Listening to her, he began to understand a little of why. If the clan history was indeed as "dark" as she had described it, then for sure, knowing more about it without the proper mental maturity would most likely do some kind of harm to one's foundation. That was not good at all, and Koz knew it. If they were to tell everyone in the sect these things, it would most likely degrade a whole generation or two of cultivators, perhaps by two or three layers! Something like that was bad.

The woman seemed to be in some kind of state of focus... was she meditating even now, as she was speaking? He knew that Li Xuan, the Red Elder, had dropped hints about such a thing, but that would mean that this woman, too, had to have at least 7th Xing innate potential... at least! If that was the case, then surely, she would be someone who he did not want to lose face in front of. Breathing in again, he readied himself for what he was about to do. It was clear now that she probably did not mean to harm him, which was good.

What was most interesting was that she claimed to be adopted by the hyuuga clan... did this mean that she did not possess the byakugan? And her father... was one of the Nara clan? Now, that wasn't familiar to him.

"... Then in that case", he began somewhat hesitantly, "if you do not possess the byakugan, then what is the basis of your foundation? Upon what is the Nara clan's.... uh..... innate power founded?" Since she didn't seem to be part of the sect, he had said "innate power" instead of "cultivation method" in order to make the conversation smoother. Nevertheless, he was trying to find out what kind of spirit system she had. Depending on how she answered, he'd determine whether or not she would be a good teacher for him (even though a piece of him had already made that decision), but also...

He wanted to find out how big her innate potential was. How did the innate potential of a ninja compare to people like Protector Xiao? Would it be greater, or smaller? Was the ninja system of training more efficient, despite how filthy it was? Or was the sect right, as it always seemed to be? This all remained to be seen.

He'd often find himself thinking about the rare times he had had doubtful thoughts about the sect, but those were soon ironed out when he saw some of the brightest, most rebellious disciples crippled and shamed by the elders and the protectors. Such power... it had only come through years upon years of foundation building (or in Xiao's case, poison cultivation). This was the path that Koz was quite determined to take now, and he didn't care much how long it took.
