Training to be a Dynamic Ninja! [P, NK]
Wed Mar 30, 2016 2:58 am
“Another day of training I guess….” Nobu says as he wakes from his nap. It has been a few days, but he finally felt comfortable taking off his grey cloak within the shelter of the Akari residence. Tossing it to the floor Nobu makes his way into the kitchen, searching hi and low for what he could scrounge up to eat. Finding little in the way of dry oats or other grains he lets out a soft sigh. “It looks as though it will have to be the strange lizard sticks again. Sheesh, Mr. Akari must really not have been lying when he said he was never here. This is the second day in a row I’ve eaten nothing but this weird lizard meat…. Well, I guess I can’t complain. A free meal is a free meal.” With this said he downed the food as quickly as possible before putting his cloak back on and heading out to the training grounds.
Thinking to himself, Nobu realizes that he still hasn’t met the young Akari that had supposedly lived in the house with him. Did their schedules just not line up? Hmm. Getting about halfway to the training grounds, Nobu decides to sprint today instead of the casual walk. He had to keep pushing himself, not wanting to anybody down who might have put faith in him. Bending at the knees, bouncing on his toes and finally stretching out his legs, he was ready to run. Crouching down to start, he silently counted down in his head. Three….two….one…go! Sprinting as fast as he could Nobu dashed towards the training area. He never considered himself slow until he saw the speeds of some of the local sand ninja, but after seeing them he knew he would have to improve a lot to compare. Several people gave him funny looks at he darted past them, almost smacking head first into a few of the citizens. Nobu knew that if he kept this up he was going to smack into someone and end up accidentally causing trouble. Realizing this he decided it was time to try and focus his chakra, utilizing the technique used to walk on surfaces by causing chakra to build in your feet and attract to a surface. Still running, he dashes over to a nearby building and begins running up the wall to the roof. Dashing now from roof to roof, the chance of knocking into someone was very slim. The only downside was the lack of any shade so high up, so the sun beat down on him for the whole run.
Finally reaching the Training grounds Nobu quickly makes his way over to the large rock he likes to train by. He was already warmed up and stretched out so he immediately began training, this time pushing himself even harder physically. Sweat pours from his body as he forces himself to push beyond his limits, beyond his weakness. Ending with roughly two hundred or so pushups, he leaps up into one hundred body squats.
This was good and all, but Nobu knew that he had to start practicing his ninja techniques and jutsu if he was going to ever compare to those around him. With this in mind, he began practicing a jump kick, focusing more on speed than anything. After about seventy five mock attempts he could feel himself getting a bit faster, little by little. It still wasn’t enough. Maybe if he had a dummy, or some other target. That is it! He would pick up decent sized rocks, toss them in the air in front of him, and focus on both speed the speed and accuracy of the jump kicks. The rocks were now traveling pretty quickly, as Nobu was tossing them in an arc before attempting to kick them. Nobu had to have kicked that rock one hundred or so times before he was done, and that wasn’t counting all of the earlier failed attempts where he missed the rock completely. Feeling more confident in his skills he began to use the technique on the large stone he was so fond of. It wasn’t moving like the prior target had been, but it is sturdier by a great deal. It would more accurately portray the use of this technique on any of the ninja around him, as he was nowhere near strong enough to send them flying. Maybe if he was lucky, it would also help develop some increased strength and endurance in his legs. Nobu had performed kick after kick, practicing for at least an hour before hiss right leg had started to cramp up and become sore, making each motion harder and harder. Stopping for a minute or so to rub his it down, the cramp finally went away but the dull pain of his sore leg remained. Nobu had thought about calling it a day, thought about trying again tomorrow. There would have be no shame in that. Techniques took time to learn and even longer to master, this much Nobu knew. Despite this knowledge, Nobu just didn’t care. He was determined to develop this technique today, even if it took his training into the night. Switching to kicking with his left leg, he continued to practice. Pushing himself harder and harder wasn’t something Nobu was used to, but his encounter with Lord Kazekage Koroshi has changed this attitude of his. This place has offered him so much, and he was determined to not let them down.
Finally after hours of kicking rocks, Nobu felt his body seemed to move faster now. He didn’t need as much of a running start to build speed with his kick, and it seemed to hit with a much greater force than it had before. He had almost felt bad for this rock, as it has taken so much punishment from him during training and was looking worn from where he had been kicking it.
Dropping to his backside, the sand preventing any pain and absorbing the blow, Nobu gulps down a bottle of water before filling it up once again. The heat was starting to be an afterthought after spending more time training in it. This didn’t mean that he had not needed to hydrate though. “One technique down, so many more to go.” He says as he wipes his mouth. Standing up he heads back to the Akari residence to rest and refresh himself.
