Kenshin Takes a Test (Genin Exam)

Kenshin walked calmly down one of the large hallways within the Hoshigakure shinobi academy, he was getting used to the layout of the place as this was the place that he had been escorted by Castiel a couple of days prior when he first entered the village, so that he could be registered as a citizen of the village, although he had to admit he did feel a slight pang of disappointment when he discovered that he was being registered as an Academy Student. He was still wearing the same robes and top hat as he had been when he met Castiel a few days prior, of course he washed both himself and the clothes each day, but he was still not all that comfortable showing off his heavily stitched and scarred body. The heavily scarred teen was happy to discover that he was allowed to take a Genin exam along with one of the soon to be graduating classes, despite the fact that he had done none of the work that the other students had, but then again he was almost certain that he was a higher level than any of the students in that class, not because of arrogance, but because he knew that life as a missing nin had honed him far more than the academy could have honed them.

Kenshin shook his head lightly as he continued down the hall, today was the day of the Genin exam and he did not want to miss it, honestly he was excited by the fact that he was about to receive a headband, something that symbolised the end of his life as a Rogue Ninja and the start of his life as a shinobi of Hoshigakure. He saw the classroom he was told to go to and gave a light knock on the door, before entering “Hello, my name’s Kenshin, I was told to come here for the Genin exam” he would say with a small smirk on his face, his hair still covering his eyes from the view of everyone in the class, and his robes covering the rest of his body, he could see a few of the other students sizing him up and it only made his smirk grow wider. He would then go and take a seat in the back corner of the room, where he would wait for his turn to take the exam

Shina had been through half a dozen students already and they all had two things in common. They were all males and non had passed. Though she supposed credit was due at some of the braver ones who had clearly had a religious upbringing and looked like they belonged at the altar to some deity then here, the fact remained that they weren't up to par.

Sighing inwardly, the Jounin called in the next candidate. "Kenshin Uzumaki, please come in and perform the transformation and clone technique, and state how both can be used in battle."

With that, Shina would wait to see how the next candidate would fair.

Kenshin could only shake his head while chuckling lightly as he watched student after student fail the extremely simple and easy test, he knew that he was going to be better than them in the end but he had not expected even a single one of these students to have performed as poorly as they had, yet here he was, watching student after student come out of the room and whine about how hard it was to perform the extremely simple jutsu that were required to pass, he truly found it to be an amusing situation. “Kenshin Uzumaki, please come in and perform the Transformation and Clone techniques, and state how both can be used in battle” he would hear a feminine voice call from the testing room, letting him know that it was finally his turn to take the test. With only a smirk on his face the silver haired teen stood up and began walking towards the testing room, he could hear the whispers of the other students, many of them labelling him as a freak and making bets on whether or not he would fail the test like every single student before him had. In all honesty the heavily scarred teen didn’t care in the slightest about what any of the students there thought about him, based entirely on the fact that they had failed such an easy test he could see that they possessed little to no talent, and based on the fact that they whined about how hard it was he learned that they did not possess the correct mindsets to be shinobi, and as such each and every one of those failures meant literally nothing to him

From the second that Kenshin had reached 100 meters of the examination room he could feel a powerful chakra signature, and once he entered this classroom he was able to deduce that it was the chakra signature of the examiner, the chakra reserves alone told him that this person was quite strong, in fact the reserves that they possessed were the exact same size as his own. Without further ado the robed teen opened the door and stepped into the testing room, where he found a woman sitting at a desk with a rather bored look on her face, obviously she was not impressed by what she had seen so far, and he most definitely felt the same way that she did, he doubted that any of the students would fail and yet every single one had, and that told him just how poorly they had performed. But at least there was one person today who would not fail, and he was standing right in front of her, without any prompting Kenshin performed the necessary hand seals for the clone technique, and a cloud of smoke later there was a perfect replica of him facing the instructor, both Kenshin and his clone reached up and tipped their top hats towards the woman before the clone was once again covered in a cloud of smoke, but this time there was nothing there when it faded away, as he had released the jutsu after tipping his hat to her.

Kenshin then wasted no time in performing the hand seals for the Transformation technique, and after being enveloped in a cloud of smoke the pale and scarred visage of Kenshin was replaced by the visage of one of the more religious looking students in the class, his brown hair combed straightly and wearing a pure white shirt with a pair of brown shorts. Kenshin gave a small bow while still under the visage of the boy and feigned praying for a second, before dispelling the illusion and letting his own visage take the place of the boys, just transformed into that kid for a second had left him feeling clean and pure, a feeling that he truly loathed. “There you go, one Clone and Transformation done, such an easy test if you ask me, but try telling that to the people who failed right” Kenshin would joke with a small laugh, flashing a sly grin at the examiner and placing his hand to his chin “Oh yes, I was also supposed to give a use for those techniques in battle wasn’t I, simple, the clone jutsu could be used as an effective decoy to catch the attention of the enemy while the real user strikes, simple battlefield logic there. And now for the Transformation jutsu, this jutsu would be very useful in a large scale battle, as you could transform yourself into one of the enemies in the cover of the chaos, and then using your new form destroy the enemies from within their own ranks, they would be confused as to why one of their own was attacking them and hesitant to attack back if you had transformed into one of their friends, a strategy that I have employed in the past with a great deal of success” Kenshin would say, his grin having grown larger and almost appearing to split his face. With his answers given and the techniques performed Kenshin would await the examiner's decision, although he was quite confident that he had passed

Shina, very bored until the point when the newcomer walked in, sat up straighter at the sight of the garrish looking teen who appeared to be held together by scar tissue more than anything else. It took all her practiced calm not to jump up from her seat but as she watched, the kid - Kenshin - seemed to be quite at ease. A bit of a show off too it seemed.

Choosing to decline on commenting of the other students failures, the raven haired kunoichi simply watched him perform the required jutsu with a fluidity that belied his rank. Her semsory picked up the usual details but her eyes and ears picked up more.

"You have a good grasp on both techniques," she admitted when he was through. "But I'm going to put you down for a mandatory physical given your condition. You get your headband and a conditional genin rank, the condition of course being that you pass the medical examination too."

With that she would hand him his headband as well directions to the hospital. "Look for Akihana Akari, she's our resident medical expert."

If Kenshin had no other question, Shina would dismiss him promptly.

"You have a good grasp on both techniques," The examined would say, causing Kenshin's grin to grow "But I'm going to put you down for a mandatory physical, you get your Headband and a conditional Genin rank, the condition of course being that you pass the medical examination too" She would then say, something that caused his smile to falter somewhat, he understood why she wanted him to get a physical given his extremely scarred and sickly looking body, but that didn't mean he was looking forward to it. Kenshin accepted the Hoshigakure headband that the woman handed him, along with a set of directions to the hospital "Look for Akihana Akari, she's our resident medical expert" she would say to him, getting a small smirk from Kenshin "Very well, good day to you ma'am" Kenshin would say in a polite tone of voice, typing his new Hoshi headband around the grey sash he had on his torso
