The Two Month Long Stretch
Sat May 14, 2016 8:28 am
His dog at his side, the boy wandered the halls, a puzzled look on his face. The time for the genin exam had come, and the blond haired teaching lady had told him to go to a particular room that was intended for testing rather than the normal ol' classroom. There lies the issue, the boy didn't know where to go.
He was pretty sure that if he wandered long enough, he'd come across someone that would ask him where he was supposed to be, to which he would reply, "I'm supposed to be taking my exam."

Shina had been through half a dozen students already and they all had two things in common. They were all males and non had passed. Though she supposed credit was due at some of the braver ones who had clearly had a religious upbringing and looked like they belonged at the altar to some deity then here, the fact remained that they weren't up to par.
Sighing inwardly, the Jounin called in the next candidate. "Azai Kojuro, please come in and perform the transformation and clone technique, and state how both can be used in battle." Luckily, the voice would come from a door right next to where the boy was wondering lost. He may not know where he was but Shina always knew.
With that, Shina would wait to see how the next candidate would fair.

Wandering down the halls, while a break from the academy life, was beginning to become boring. As there wasn't a soul in sight, the anxious boy began to pick up the pace as he jogged around the building. Okina followed along, her nails producing a sort of echoing click with each stride. He wondered for a minute, what would the punishment be if he missed the exam. Would they let him retake, and slap him on the wrist? Or would they scold him and forbid him from ever becoming a genin?
Sweat began to bead on the surface of his forehead, as the thought of not getting that promotion and losing out on all the monetary value the title held was a big hit to his plans for him and his dog. The dog could sense his fear, and would have began whimpering, had her ears not perked up to the sound of "Azai Kojuro, please come in and perform,".
Both souls would stop and slide in their tracks. The boy would nearly slip and bust his ass from the sliding as he scrambled backwards, trying to reach the door he had just flew by. The dog would simply skid to a stop before circling around, and strut through the door right before its owner could himself.
Standing in the doorway, he gave a quick bow while saying, "Yes ma'am." He would then trot over to the front of the desk, awkwardly looking for a place to stand. If they gave him no direction on where to go, he would begin his demonstration right there. If they did tell him, "Go here," or "Go there," the boy would comply. The mutt would find a comfortable spot to plop down, before letting out a whiny sigh of boredom.
"Here goes," he thought. Putting both of his hands together, the right covering the left, with both the middle and index fingers pointing straight up, and thumbs locked, he formed the Ram hand seal, the starting sign for the Clone Technique. His hands would then shift so that all of his fingers were locked with one another, forming the Snake sign, before finally shifting once more into a sign similar to the first, but where both hands were even, the Tiger seal. Channeling his chakra, a somewhat accurate clone would appear to his left side, sporting no major differences. It would require a trained eye to spot said discrepancies.
Both copies of the boy would begin to talk at the same time, but sound would only come from the original. "In combat, if used appropriately, this technique can be used to confuse the enemy. The hope, or goal, would be to puzzle the opponent into getting you mixed up with the projection on the chance they take a shot at it, rather than you." He couldn't really think of a way to make them offensive, because of the nature of the technique. The projection was simply that, it had no real mass or weight, so it couldn't really attack on it's own. Considering it could only mirror the user's actions, that also posed a problem for coming up with an offense.
Waiting for confirmation as to whether he was right or wrong, he would sit tight for a moment. If after a few seconds he got no reply, or if the proctor motioned for him to move on, he'd go ahead perform the next technique on the agenda. Now this one he had been practicing more than the clone technique, and he was pretty confident in his abilities.
While he knew the hand seals for the transformation technique, (Dog, Boar, and Ram,) he had wished to attempt to do it without the seals. He was fairly certain he could, given the amount of time had spent practicing with it so far. Putting his hands by his sides, he closed his eyes and concentrated, both his mind and his chakra. Exhaling, a poof of smoke would cloud the boy for a brief moment. When it would dissipate, in his spot would be a one for one copy of his dog. To show of his mastery of the technique, he hopped back and forth on both of his feet before letting out a small bark, his tail wagging with such force as to make his body sway.
In one final shroud of smoke the boy would appear as he had when he entered the room. Dirty and unkempt, looking as if he could go for a meal, (or seven.)
"The transformation technique can be used in combat in a variety of ways. The most obvious would be to hide from an opponent, if they have a hard time sensing chakra, or if you happen to have a way to block out their sensory. While there are many more, another example that comes to mind is transforming into a piece of equipment such as a kunai or shuriken, so that a teammate or something similar may throw you across the battlefield for a surprise attack, as the enemy will most likely keep their attention focused on the teammate rather than the kunai." Whew, saying all that without stopping made him take a breath afterwards. He would then await the proctor's judgement.

"Well done," the kunoichi spoke, flashing the kid one of her rare smiles. Not only was he the first today to pass the test but the poor thing looked like he needed a smile his way. "Here's your new headband. You can show at at the chancery and they'll help you with accomodations and figure out which missions you can do." With that the jounin would walk over to the boy, give him and his dog a pat on the head and send them on their way.

Azai would bow, take his headband, whistle for his dog, and be on his merry homeless little way. Now was the time to set out on his quest for cash.
