Revan's Training [P, NK]
Wed Jun 15, 2016 9:37 pm
A few hours had already passed, and Revan seemed no closer to learning the jutsu than when he started. Frustrated, he glared at the stalactite. Water dripped down in a rhythm, calmly. He let out a large sigh, falling backwards to lie on his back, kicking up dust, and staring blankly at the cave ceiling. His self-training wasn't seeming to work. He decided earlier that when he managed to hit the water drop twice before it touched the ground, he'd done it. That thought, however would only work if he were to actually manage to use the Jutsu, first. That happened to be the hard part, meaning everything he had done for the past two hours was completely pointless. He groaned a bit at that realization. He sat up and reviewed the hand signs for the jutsu; rat, then boar, Over and over again. It wasn't until the 10th review that he realized that he was doing boar wrong. He quickly slapped himself in the forehead for making such a stupid mistake for the past two hours. He quickly jumped up onto his feet and signed: rat, boar. He felt a quick rush of chakra throughout his entire body, but the droplet fell at the same speed as it usually did. At least there's been progress. He thought to himself. This means that now all that's left to do is slow time. Sounds simple on paper, but Revan knew it would be a bit tougher than just that. He sat, crossed-legged, on the floor of the cave. He took in a deep breath, focusing on the rhythms of the water falling, when exactly it would fall from the stalactite, when it hit the stalagmite. Rat, Boar, Rat, Boar, Rat, Boar. He continued repeating the hand signs, feeling the flow of his chakra running through his body. "Okay." He stood up, making his eyes follow the drops through their path. He quickly rechecked his hand signs, not wanting to waste his own time by making another stupid mistake with them. Rat, then boar. Both were correct. "Good, now I can focus on the jutsu." Rat. Boar. He felt the his rushing chakra, and made an effort to sustain it for a brief moment. He focused on the flowing chakra throughout his entire being, and the droplet's rhythm. The droplet hit a slight bit later than usual. Revan felt a sort of accomplishment, until that nagging little voice in his head started to talk. Then again, it could have just been a fluke. You can't say, you didn't see it fall slower. "Oh, who asked you?" Revan spoke aloud. Once again, the voice was right, It wasn't impossible for the droplet to have fallen slower because it left later. He kept his eyes open, and formed the hand seals over again, watching the droplet fall. Sustaining his chakra flow, he saw the droplet suddenly slowing down to where he could clearly see the droplet's shape as gravity slowly pulled on the water, forcing it down. He saw the droplet hit the spire, and slowly dissipate into mist, and covering the rock. He looked down at his hands, and when he moved them, they had a strange blurriness to them, as if they were wet paint, or oil getting smeared across the canvas at the slightest touch. Cool. Revan thought this was absolute proof that he could both use, and sustain his jutsu. However, he also remembered his self made goal: hit the droplet more than twice before it hit the ground. He looked at the stalactite, and realized that he'd have to wait for a bit in order to actually hit the falling droplet. "Well, this is going to be really boring." Revan said. He noticed that his words and voice seemed to move slower as well, distorting them in the flow of time, too. That's just a bit strange, and unnerving. Revan said inside of the confines of his mind, where the altered time couldn't affect him. Revan, still waiting for the drop to fall, had looked outside the mouth of the cave, he remembered how ominous the cave seemed as a child, and how there was supposed to be some evil spirits in here. He couldn't remember exactly what was in here that he wanted to avoid, but he was sure that whatever it was, it was not friendly. He turned back to the droplet and saw it was about to fall. He snapped back into training mode quickly, and as soon as it let go of its hold from the rock he punched the droplet. Once, twice, thrice. Four times, five times. before it had even gotten halfway down. "Yes!" He shouted, and from the back of the cave he heard a low grumbling. This just might be that thing. Revan looked further into the dark cave, and saw a flash of two eyes from inside. It seemed to be bigger than him. Taller, and larger. Revan, not the slightest bit intimidated, smiled slightly. He slid his right foot in a half-circle, to place it behind him, and bent down. The creature, which Revan recognized as a bear when it got closer, swung its left paw at Revan's head. So, time's back to normal, huh? Let's fix that. Revan slid below the bear's paw, propelling himself in a circle, he raised himself into position and kicked the bear in its gut, utilizing the force from his dodge for a solid hit. He used the bear's stomach as a surface, and kicked off, separating himself and the creature. Rat, Boar. Revan had felt his chakra, and slowed time again. He felt that time was being slowed. He ran on the wall to the bear's right, narrowly avoiding its paw, and jumped off, kicking the bear square in the head. The bear fell to the ground, not knocked out, but he couldn't do any more harm to Revan. "Sorry, but I get defensive when I'm attacked." Revan Walked out of the cave, into the sunlight.
