Learning Genjutsu Release
Sun Sep 18, 2016 12:49 pm
Kōmon was feeling pretty content with himself already knowing clone and transformation jutsu but before he took his exam he wanted to learn a third jutsu just to show he's not the average genin, he really wanted to impress the village and reach his highest potential. The problem was he didn't know of any more jutsu, so he headed to the hidden cloud library and checked out a book called “E-Rank Jutsu Directory”.
He spent a couple hours flipping through the pages trying to find a jutsu that interested him before he narrowed it down too two options either the substitution jutsu or genjutsu release. But genjutsu release was definitely winning between the two, he wanted to ensure he had a way to combat against the legendary uchiha clan of the hidden leaf if he ever came into contact with them, and they were rumored to be the most gifted genjutsu clan in existence.
So in the end Kōmon decided to go with the genjutsu release. He skimmed through the pages of his book trying to memorize every detail before he began his training. After about an hour of reading he felt he was thoroughly versed in the art of genjutsu release and set out to the training grounds.
But Kōmon ran into one small problem, he didn't know anyone with a mastery of genjutsu and therefore couldn't train to prevent it. So he started walking through the town trying to find jounin capable of such abilities. He passed by the jounin training grounds and saw a group of 3 jounin. Interested he walked up and introduced himself. The three turned around at the sound of his introduction. They seemed friendly enough as the one in the middle introduced himself as Yutaka, and the other two resumed their training. Yutaka asked what Kōmon needed and he replied “i'm looking for someone who knows genjutsu so I can practice Genjutsu Release do you know anyone that fits the description?”. Yutaka looked intrigued by the question, as he put his hand to his chin and looked upward in thought, “my friend over there could probably help you out his names Tayo, and he's a genjutsu specialist.” Koman thanked him for the help and headed over to the man Yutaka pointed out as Tayo.
Tayo seemed friendly enough and when Kōmon explained his situation he was glad to help, or “do anything to help the next generation reach their full potential” as Tayo put it. “Alright Komon i'm going to start a genjutsu and everything's gonna seem pretty scary. The easiest way to know your in a genjutsu is to look for abnormalities things like red skies, or an abnormally large group of animals are pretty common. Ok i'm going to start the genjutsu now please remain calm in order to break it.”
Kōmonassured him he was ready for it, and as he was doing so a pack of dogs came running at him, this terrified him and he began to run away from them, after several minutes of being chased by rabid dogs komon began to calm down enough to remember what Tayo had just said about abnormalities. The likelihood of him being chased by a pack of dogs on a training ground was pretty low so Kōmon found a high ground where he could avoid the dogs on a tree branch, and prepared himself to break the genjutsu.
He thought back to the book he had been reading this message with the detailed instructions on genjutsu release. He remembered the simple 1 sign seal. Tiger. He remembered that he had to focus his chakra to disrupt the enemies manipulation of his own. And he began to weave the sign. “RELEASE” he shouted and felt his chakra surge, but the dogs were still there. The barking had broken his concentration.
So just like the times with clone and transformation jutsu he decided he needed to focus. He took two deep breaths like he always did and looked back on his reason for being a shinobi, to ensure his and his brothers survival in this cursed ninja world.
Kōmon with his resolve renewed and confidence high weaved the tiger sign and began to focus his chakra, he closed his eyes and took a deep breath in, and preparing his voice shouted “RELEASE” completely tuning out the sound of the dogs in the process. He felt his chakra surge and opened his eyes to see himself standing in front of the jounin. It worked, he'd mastered the genjutsu release technique. Tayo looked completely surprised and said “i've never seen anyone learn that technique so fast! You've got a lot of talent kid!” Kōmon jumped up with his fist raised in excitement like a child, he was proud of himself so soon and hed already learned 3 ninjutsu, at this rate he'd avenge his mother in no time at all.
