A Night Walk (Private Training, Completed)
Sat Sep 24, 2016 4:51 pm
Rome had recently taken to walking the roads of the town at night. He traversed allies, plazas, roads, rooftops, and anything else. It was just aimless wandering, like a vigil he kept with no reason or purpose. It simply kept him awake, and allowed him time to contemplate. It was helpful, and allowed him to become more thoughtful person. It eased off his more angry tendencies, sadistic and bad ones. The last time he did, he encountered a new person, learned a couple jutsu, but kind of expanded his view. Kuro had a good dream, and it gave him purpose. That was a thing Rome simply didn't possess. After that, it lead him to go on more walks and time to think about things. At the time, he decided that his purpose was to find a purpose. If he were to do that, he decided, it was best to think about things. It could eventually give him a reason to do things and be there, thinking.
That same night, when he trained with Kuro, he had an idea form. One that had found its way back under his mental magnifying glass, on one such nightly excursion. The idea of the power of elements, and the versatility they allowed. Although Kuro could never do some of the things with water as he could with fire, the same was true vice versa. A full control of the elements would be most beneficial, but his chakra had seemed so naturally inclined to fire. It was, it seemed, the worst path to be on. What if he never progressed in any other element? Then he would simply have to be the best with fire. That was acceptable, for now, but when he became a higher rank he didn't want to be a predictable fighter with only one element, he'd have to learn more. Fire was great, but there was too much else for him to want it alone.
Wind was a sharp, force. It could cut with a fine edge, stab with a sharp point, or blast with immeasurable force. It was also everywhere, and you'd need only harness what was there to use it. It could spurn on the power of a fire, as well, and would therefore be incredibly useful. Any blaze could be strengthened, and it expanded his potential strength by quite a bit. His jutsu could be even more terrifyingly powerful, magnificent infernos. Paired with his natural ability, wind would be a powerful asset, spurning on his efforts at every opportunity. Rome would be worse off overall as a ninja if not in possession of it. And, if his suspicion was correct, then he would have no choice but to deal with his own weakness. That was absolutely unacceptable. He would have to find a way around it. For a moment, he remembered Hiro. That was a wind user he had as a sort of acquaintance, a potential ally in situations. And Hiro also only used wind, saying that he was fine with it alone. That he could still function well enough with only it. Maybe it wasn't super important to have a bunch of elements on your belt yet if you had enough command over a good one. Fire wasn't to be looked down at, either.
Fire was a force of reckoning, able to devour anything with its overwhelming heat and sheer amount. It had its own versatility as well, because although it had a harder time with cutting things fire could take on any geometric shape or size, expanding and exploding as well as having its own focused pressure and searing bullets. And, as wind could boost fire, fire could overcome wind. All it could do was enhance the oncoming fire, making it more powerful. Only a very powerful wind jutsu could defeat a fire user's, presuming the fire user was one of competence. And if he were to develop his own natural aptitude, Rome could become a competent one indeed. He was a strong advocate of fire and its usefulness, having been a bit of a pyromaniac even before he was much of a ninja. Now, it was simply increased because of his ability to make it appear on command. It wasn't uncommon for him to light things on fire to to see how they burned. Most of the time, he had a lighter with him. Without chakra, it was a fierce thing that could be harnessed by man, and utilized for a variety of purposes. With training as a shinobi, it became a weapon with terrifying effects and purposes. If there were an object in need of being annihilated, the flames of a shinobi with mastery could do it. There was absolutely no threat that fire couldn't properly deal with in some way, shape, or form.
That was it, then. It was decided that for now, he would remain on the track of fire. The night was cold, and Rome pulled his current lighter out of his jacket pocket. It was a nice steel rectangle that he didn't expect to last him much longer than a couple weeks, probably out of fluid. He opened and lit it, and stared at the single tongue of flame it let off. Now, he was to stay on the track of fire and progress down that road to become more of an expert. He gently moved it side to side, letting it sway momentarily, before he snapped it shut and turned around, hopping to another nearby rooftop. It was time to go home, but there was something he had kept with him. The fire from the lighter, reflected in his eyes, never left him. Now, there was a purpose burning in his green hues, and it would never leave them. Without realizing it, he had already taken a large step in the direction of his new goal. Something had awoken inside him, something he didn't know was there, and now he was on his way down the path of fire. Now it was either the beginning of something great or the birth of something horrific.
