Another Tool for A Shinobi's Arsenal

The Substitution Jutsu. The ability to replace your body with anything nearby, allowing the user to dodge attacks they wouldn't be able to otherwise. Another essential jutsu for any shinobi. Another step Sei Yuki would have to take to keep ahead of his peers and prepare himself for the outside world. The boy refused to give up his blood so some scum could wield his clan's ice.
Now, Sei was pondering how to practice this jutsu. The academy's grounds were open to students after school hours albeit almost never in use. Sei sometimes wondered how the village's shinobi grew into a substantial military if their students had such poor work ethic. In fact, today the grounds were entirely empty.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sei let out a deep sigh, surveying the area briefly. He remembered his training with Aku, cringing upon looking towards the wall he almost found his face implanted on. The boy couldn't wait until he had access to the other training grounds.
Pushing those thoughts aside the Yuki allowed himself to fall into a low crouch, holding his hands together in a clap handsign. He didn't channel any chakra. Instead, he began to go over the substitution technique's handsigns, applying them to muscle memory before he even started.
"Tiger. Boar. Ox. Dog. Snake."
Clearful and methodical. There would be no room for error in a live fight.
"Ti, Bo, Ox, Do, Snake."
Faster, Precise. There would be no pause in the battle for the boy to prepare. He spotted a stick most likely used as a toy by his fellow students earlier in the day.
"A perfect test run."
He instinctively began his handsigns, slowly allowing his chakra to flow into the technique before with a burst of chakra he found himself...in exactly the same place. instead the stick was now replaced with a laying down clone of Sei. With annoying grunt his walked over to the clone, kicking it in the face to vent his frustration. In a puff of smoke the clone was gone, replaced with the stick he'd focused on earlier.
"Well, at least the illusion worked. So why didn't we switch places?"
Sei stood there in silence, his hand to his chin as he pondered how to go about fixing this problem. He'd obviously not dealt with teleportation before so it had him stumped. That was until, out of lack of a better option, he tried again, focusing on the stick and the idea of switching places with it.
This time it was another half success. He'd switched places with the stick but the object merely fell to the floor, not supported by an illusion. that wouldn't fool a missing-nin out for his blood.
"Again."
Tiger, Boar, Ox, Dog, Snake. This time in rapid, precise succession. as he poured chakra into the technique he split his focus on switching places and performing the Transformation jutsu on the stick. With substantially more chakra than the small amount he'd used before he found himself staring at a clone of himself in his former position.
Sei could only smile...before feeling the significant drain on his chakra. It wasn't enough to cause anything too stressful but he felt his hands shaking lightly.
"This won't do."
That kind of drain would be problematic when he needed to survive for an extended period of time outside the village. He gave himself five minutes, catching his breath before he started again.
Tiger, Boar, Ox, Dog, Snake.
He switched places with the stick once more, the illusion taking less chakra to create yet still maintaining convincing for for a genin illusion.
"Still too much."
Single minute break. Still too long. It was times like this that Sei thought he was a bit too much of a perfectionist for his own good but this was all in the name of growing stronger. A Yuki couldn't let an opponent walk all over them.
Tiger, Boar, Ox, Dog, Snake.
Success. The strain on The Yuki's chakra was greatly reduced. The illusion on the stick was still just as convincing and there was no delay before Sei was teleported.
"Okay. Substitution is done. I should be able to go for Genin now."
Fast enough to use on demand. Not taxing on his chakra enough to incapacitate him. The Substitution technique would be incredibly helpful to the Yuki and his survival.
