The Song of the Forest (P, NK)
Wed Mar 01, 2017 8:43 pm
The repeated sound of thump thump thump could be heard resonating through the forest. Kenshi was taking to strengthening his arms and touching up his fists. The bark of the tree he was wailing away at was beginning to peel. His fists were already raw and his arms were starting to become tired. This irritated him greatly. He kept repeating inside his mind that he needed to keep going. He needed to become stronger fast. He needed hard calloused knuckles that would be able to deal more damage than soft knuckles. This was the only way he could do this.
He had been at this for two hours already. You could clearly see the sweat starting to seep into his clothes. He was tuning most everything surrounding him out beside the songs of nature and the feel of the breeze running by him.

Hanabi stumbled over a branch, bringing her out of the book she was reading as she walked. She turned and pushed it into the brush, hoping to save a future walker from the same peril. She then resumed her walk, but as she started to find her place in her reading, she noticed an odd recurring sound, like a beat. Curious, the young woman stepped through the trees to find the source. There she found a red haired boy viciously attacking a tree. She could not spy a headband on his person, so she assumed this was a new academy student. He appeared to be a dedicated one. Based on his condition and the damage to the tree, he had been at it for a while.
"Hello," she called to announce her presence, in case he hadn't heard her approach, "hard at work?" She walked up to him, giving a friendly smile. As she did, she noticed the damage to his hands. "You ought to keep those wrapped while you train," She said, gesturing to his hands, "It will lessen the pain, and help prevent infection or accidental injury. You'll be able to train longer." The medical shinobi started to reach into the small pouch on her hip. "I can tape them for you, if you like."

Kenshi failed to notice the older girl approaching him. When she spoke to him to announce her presence he startled slightly and whipped around to face her almost stumbling. He took a moment to assess the lavender haired woman. She didn't seem like a threat with her friendly tone and the way she was smiling so, he relaxed his guard. He quickly noticed that she had continued speaking and was waiting for a response.
He was still breathing heavily from his exertion so it took him a second to catch his breath and respond. "O-oh hello, uhh, I guess you could say that," he said barely managing to not fumble his words. "My hands?" he replied in confusion. "I've never thought of that," he trailed off slightly. He believed what this stranger was saying about the infection and accidental injuries. "Oh, that would be nice of you, but I wouldn't want to use up your medical tape." He thought for a second "May I ask what your name is Miss?"

"You don't need to worry about that." She answered in response to his concern. "I'm a medical ninja, this kind of things is my job." If he would allow her to, she would begin taping his hands as they continued talking. "My name is Hanabi Yuka. And yours?" After his answer she would continue, "I'm Kirigakure's newest genin, so we may be doing missions together not too long from now. If you ever need any help with your training feel free to ask."
