Rob a Traveller! (Eren)

Mission Specs:

It wasn't exactly... a mission, in the normal sense. But Kohei had noticed one of the tips in the contract center said that travelers often carried more cash, to cover expenses and whatnot. So he had suggested to his new acquaintance, Eren, that the two of them go out and take care of this one... guy. Apparently this fellow was travelling in the vicinity, and someone didn't like him, putting his face up on a poster. If Kohei had to guess, this fellow had dumped the woman who seemed to be the poster of the contract, which specified that the target be jumped and robbed of his money - but left alive. Of course, the fate of the stolen ryo was not specified in the contract, so Kohei felt he could appropriate it for grub.

In some ways, it would have been much easier if they were allowed to kill the target, but giving him a minor concussion or a bump on the head would probably do, since they could probably run away before he could catch them.

Kohei crouched in the underbrush, slowly creeping towards the location the man was supposed to travel through. Nothing, so far.

The sun was shining brightly in the sky, surrounded by a mostly blue, but slightly purplish rim, concentrated on the side the sun was slowly rising from. At least, that's how it seemed. His perception of the weather had been wrong the last few days, so it could be off today as well. The surrounding landscape was mostly grassland, with trees dotting the landscape, a few wild animals here and there, a smoke trail lazily wafting into the horizon, large numbers of bushes along the sides of the roadway, which was dotted with large rocks, and spotted with little puddles - it seemed to have raine- WAIT.

He stopped waiting for the target to show up, realizing he had missed something.

A smoke trail....

He would look around for Eren. "That smoke trail seems to be on the route that target was supposed to take. Let's go check it out. We might catch our target napping, If we don't find him on the way there."

When she was ready, he would start walking along the road, keeping a keen eye out for any travellers along the way. Slowly, they would approach the encampment the smoke trail arose from. When it was several hundred meters away, he would pause, squinting.

"I see something moving there, that might be him!"

Closer he would approach, creeping along in the tall grass, then hiding amongst the trees near where the camp was.

Oh.

"He's asleep. I'll grab a tree branch and stand over him, if he wakes up, he will get a thumping. Go ahead and find the ryo, Eren."

Fortunately, a branch was nearby, lying on the ground. So he wouldn't have to worry about waking the traveller by snapping off a makeshift club.

He crept up to the fellow, and held the club high, ready to beat the man unconscious should he awake.

When Eren was finished taking the money, he would leave as well, holding the branch as insurance.

A young Eren was sitting at the dinner table, playing with his mask. Small fingers traced around the edges, also touching the blisters which ran up the same direction. The mask was too tight and uncomfortable. He looked at the dinner plate below, and then up at his mother, who was facing the other way. Slowly and quietly, he peeled the mask of his face and nearly sighed with relief as the pressure faded. He raised his fork, and just as he was about to wake, his mother's screeches pierced his ears. He blinked and stood up. Dreams were a funny thing, bringing back memories of simpler times. And the woman that he planned to torture. Completing his morning rituals as much as he could without any supplies, he followed Kohei Yuki to the bounty office. His black clothes blew in the wind, drawing the attention of some passerby. Self-consciously, he drew them closer to himself and straightened his posture.

Observing the available missions which were pinned to a wall, he took one off. Hm... Robbing a traveler, eh? From the looks of the description, perhaps it was written by a former girlfriend, or other romantic partner... Nonetheless, it was low enough down the food chain that the higher up missing-nin wouldn't touch it and village ninja wouldn't pay attention to it. That made it perfect for the impromptu dynamic duo. He took it off the wall, folded it neatly in half and then in half again, and placed it in his pocket.

"Come on," he spoke, entering the woods. Sunlight filtered in through scattered tree leaves, casting odd shadows on the forest floor. There weren't too many dead leaves, thus making it easier to pass through undetected. Undergrowth was vibrant beneath their feet. They'd have to watch where they step or else risk falling down and alerting their target, if he was in the area. Silently, the two kept walking until a break in the trees revealed a steady plume of smoke which blossomed in the sky. The shape was fascinating... He shook his head at himself. No, he must focus. The two approached the area from where the smoke seemed to originate. Laying down was a man that he recognized as their target. And he was sleeping! Eren looked at Kohei, and then sneaked up to his side. With an aura of dead quiet, he reached down and slowly opened a small satchel. Rummaging around in the inside, he found nothing. Suddenly, something made a noise, perhaps a raccoon in the brush. The man stirred, and slowly but surely opened his eyes. And he was right in front of him! He pointed a finger at him instantly and cast the Ephemeral genjutsu, and the man would feel himself become paralyzed. Not bothering with being slow and quiet anymore, he reached into his pockets and pulled out a large chunk of ryo. There it was. And as per the terms of the contract, they could keep it, too! He held it up to Kohei and smiled a rare smile. Mission complete.
