Not An Exit

Exhilarating.
That was the only way to describe what was happening in the world the male was burdened to live in. For too long he'd bode his time to unleash his fury.. his wrath. While he sat on his stone throne, as uncomfortable as he ever was, a cornucopia of thoughts stirred through his mind. They melded into one another just as they drifted into fantasy, with some becoming forgotten soon after, yet a few remained. Namely the thought of his legacy. What would he be known for after he perished into the cold, dark earth? Would he only be known as the hermit Kage that secluded his village from the others, becoming much akin to a legend as the age old tale of Atlantis? The thought stirred a primal desire for glory inside of him, an urge to go out and leave his mark on the world, for better or worse. His rough, calloused hand grasped the light metal of the fountain pen that rest idly on the side of his desk.
It was a time to make a few changes, a few improvements to the village he reigned over. Sliding a fresh piece of parchment onto the bare, glass desk directly before him he started to write a few instructions regarding the oceanic storm circle that protected the village from the savages that prowled outside. Not out of fear, but out of preparation. He knew that if he was to leave a legacy that losing his home village twice.. that'd be the only thing he was known for. The shinobi who was incapable of defending those he cared for, and incompetent when it came to village defense. There was a faint sense of irony in that he was only able to protect Tengakure from destruction, despite loathing the village and it's denizens. Once he finished writing the instructions for the Fuinjutsu team that handled the seals, he'd wait a few seconds to allow the ink to settle before folding and sealing it inside of a light envelope which he'd rest on the side of the desk.
A stray thought spun out to wonder where Ren was, and what he was doing. He'd have to have the boy tracked soon as he was taking longer than he should have, especially with the genjutsu he was supposed to be under. Whether he'd have to hunt the boy and slaughter him out of duty to his village, or allow the boy the mercy of life was all dependent on how soon he'd come into the eye of the ANBU watching the ruins of Tengakure. No news was bad news, and Xyxer wasn't too much of a fan for useless news. He uttered a few instructions to the ANBU by the door to have them keep their eyes open for potentially noteworthy individuals to carry out the hunt should it be needed, to which they'd kindly oblige.
Finally, an old letter remained on the side of his desk. One of particular value to Xyxer as it allowed him the understanding of betrayal in this world of shadowy ninja. Shake their hand while holding a kunai with the other, that was what it all seemed to be about. A distinct lack of honour.. of courtesy calls. His fingertips ran over the soft paper of the letter softly, almost as if he remained as anxious of the words as he was the first time he found the document. The betrayal of Tengakure, and Konoha's involvement with his village's demise.
You can't always save what you care for the most, but you can avenge it.
