Wind, River, and Fire

The journey would take about two days from what Ryu could tell. He’d have to start his journey into the land of rivers and then get to the land of fire. The sand and heat was a welcome feeling that didn’t bother the sand ninja in the slightest. Not only was this environment his home, but he was a Goka a ninja forged by extreme heat. The boy would take a sucker from a wrapper give it a few licks before placing it into the sand. Oh, the sand made it taste so much better. It was more about the texture than anything, but it is not like it didn’t improve the taste.

As Ryu walked he encountered some people traveling to sell their wares. Of course, he would just casually wave at them as he crossed their paths. They didn’t suspect he was a ninja and he didn’t need to make them suspect it. If he could get through the countries with as little worry as possible it would be a good thing. If he ran into trouble he would have to fight, but it’s not like he was alone. He could call up some friends at any time if he needed.

The temperature and climate were notably different from the land of wind to the land of rivers. There was more water than the boy had ever seen in his life. There was wildlife covered in fur, something that you didn’t normally see within the desert besides camels. The air felt rather cool compared the desert with the feel of humidity in the air. It was a different feel altogether. Stopping at one of the slow flowing streams the ninja would cup his hands, kneel and splash some water onto his face. He would then look at his reflection in the water and be amazed by what he saw. So, much had changed since his time as a genin. Even, though that wasn’t very long ago. He’d fought the kazekage and became a chuunin, he took a written test and failed it of course, he entered the jounin exams and through some miracle was allowed to become a jounin. Then his village was taken over by some people that warped the kazekage out of existance. Now, here he was headed to Konoha, not just to visit a friend but to ask why they had all left the village during that time.

Maybe, he would have to get his hands dirty or maybe he wouldn’t. That would be left for the people of the leaf to decide. There were many questions running through Ryu’s head one of which was if they had been working with Kumo. If they were then they would all burn. Well most of them, he wasn’t about to torch everyone for the decision of the leadership.

Ryu would move away from the water and touch the telepathy seal once more. Its time for your favorite time of day Ryu karaoke. What’s love got to do, got to do with it. What’s love but a second hand emotion. He would continue with the rest of the song as he moved. He would of course stop if anyone said anything though, he was just finding ways to pass the time.

The ninja would move through the night as he closed into the land of fire. The map was getting him to where he needed to be. The greenery was well green, Ryu had never seen this much green. He’d take the time to admire it, but he was almost to the borders of the land of fire and he was getting tired. There would be no point in resting around here nothing good usually happened in the borders.

It wasn’t too far to the leaf village once Ryu was within the land of fire. With renewed vigor, the ninja pushed himself forward. Jumping through trees made the journey seem well different. Sand ninja never really had the opportunity to do things like this. Usually, they just ran through the sand and would use surface walking for getting through quick sand and dunes.

With each tree the ninja was another jump closer to his destination. He could see towns in the distance meaning he was in the land of fire. He would stop to look at his map. In a couple of hours he would near the village gates. Stowing the map, Ryu would make his way around the towns he could eat once he was in Konoha.


Once, Ryu was a few miles from the gates he would touch his neck to use his telepathy seal. Almost, at the gates of the leaf village. He would then look around the sun was coming up, it was almost a full day since he had left the land of shadows. The jounin would then walk the rest of the way to Konoha.
