Cutting

Jason woke up this morning ready to start learning some of the Senju clan's famous wood style techniques. He had already learned both water and earth techniques and he finally felt ready to start training some Wood style jutsu. After all, what kind of a Senju would he be if he couldn't use his clans element? Not a very good one. He was going to be the strongest Senju and become Hokage after all. Now he would need some powerful friends to help him achieve his goal but first he needed to master his wood style. That was why today he would head in to the forest and begin some long awaited wood element training. Getting out of bed he rushed around his house getting ready for the day's events. He stopped just long enough to scarf down some breakfast before heading out the door. As soon as he had finished his breakfast and made sure he had everything he needed, he headed out, going straight to his normal spot in the forest that Jason had turned in to his own personal training ground. He had grabbed a scroll on wood style jutsu made by the Senju clan that his father had lent him before leaving his house and it was safely tucked away in his clothes as he made his way along the tree tops through the forest. Jason always felt at home in the woods, as if it was a part of his own body. He supposed that was how all members of the Senju clan felt with their natural affinity for the wood element. When mastered they could create their own forest at will. Today Jason would start on his path to that very end. After a short period he arrived at the clearing that was his destination. It was a circular clearing forty meters wide with training dummies arranged at even intervals along the tree line. The dummies were all battered and torn from Jason's previous training exercises but they still had a lot of life left in them. Unfortunately today was going to be rough for the poor dummies. Jason stood in the center of the clearing. He would pull out the wood style scroll and examine its contents, stopping on a wood element jutsu called Cutting. It was an interesting B rank attack style jutsu. This was written about the jutsu in the scroll:
"After performing the Ram seal, the user can produce 10 branches form their body before this ability is put on cool down. Branches can grow up to 5 meters long and be up to a meter thick. Any sharp points or edges on the branches can be as sharp as the power of this jutsu.
Branches can be freely manipulated the post they are made as long as they are connected to the users body. after that the user is only able to remove the branches from his body.
User can create weapons through this technique, katana shaped branches or simple shafts of wood that can be thrown at the enemy (these count as branches).
For an additional 16 AP, and by performing a half hand seal (only if unmastered) the user can cause any branch they have created within the last 3 posts to grow an additional four branches from itself, each of them able to grow up to the max size of a normal branch. Branches made through this function cannot have branches grow on them, and this function can only be used 3 times per use of this jutsu."
Essentially the user creates branches from their own body using the wood element. These branches could be created in whatever shape the user chose and manipulated as long as they were still connected to the users body. The user could also remove the branches from his body to use as a weapon or other means. Each branch created this way can be manipulated to have up to four branches grow from them as well. It was a great jutsu to defend oneself in close range or to create weapons if necessary. It can even be used to attack multiple enemies at once depending on the user's wishes. Jason had come out to this spot in the forest in particular to learn this jutsu. It wasn't something he could practice with his friends as he did not want to injure any of them. He would have opportunities to train with the others at another time with other jutsu. This one was too dangerous for that. The boy now stood firm in the center of the clearing, filled with determination and confidence. He had tucked the scroll away in his clothes and stood straight, head held high with his arms at his sides. There was a slight breeze that blew his short messy hair. He had a fire in his eyes that nothing could put out. That came from being a ninja of the Hidden Leaf and a member of the famed Senju clan. He was a full blown ninja now, a Genin of Konohagakure no sato. He was sure to become the strongest in the village, to one day claim the title of Hokage for himself. He was ready to begin learning his first wood element technique, Wood Release: Cutting. He closed his eyes and concentrated his wood element chakra. Opening his eyes, Jason would perform the Ram hand seal and immediately the hilt of a sharp edged katana shaped branch grew from his left arm which he pulled out of his body with his right hand, now holding the make shift sword at the ready. He brought his right arm back, preparing to throw the make shift katana at a training dummy twenty meters in front of him. Jason threw the sword shaped branch so that it stuck deep in the dummy's chest. Just as it stuck, Jason would again perform the Ram hand seal, making four branches with sharp points grow from the original, piercing the training dummy even further. This truly was a dangerous jutsu if used correctly.
He centered himself and gathered his wood element chakra. Jason would perform the Ram hand sign and then a sharp edged branch protruded two meters from Jason's right hand like a sword attached to his body. He went up to one of the dummies and used the branch to slice it in half from shoulder to hip. The top half of the dummy fell to the ground. Jason stabbed the lower half of the dummy, allowing the branch to separate from his body and stay stuck in the dummy. Jason then turned to face a dummy five meters to his left and pulled a branch with a sharp point from his left shoulder with his right hand. He then threw the branch so that it impaled the dummies head. Spinning around to face the opposite direction, Jason pulled a similar branch from his shoulder and launched it at the dummy's head he was now facing. He would then take a step away from the first dummy he was still standing by and perform the Ram seal again, making all three branches he had just used to impale the dummies grow four branches of their own on an angle so as to pierce their respective dummies even further. Jason was pleased to see he could at least manipulate the branches easily this far. He made his way to each of the three dummies in turn and pulled out the branches he had used to impale them. It took some effort as he had made the branches dig in to their respective dummies for extra damage. After a few long minutes he managed to free the dummies of all the branches. Jason had only practiced the more "lethal" part of the jutsu. He had not yet realized the true extent of it. He felt as if he was missing something important so he pulled out the scroll to again read what it had to say.
"After performing the Ram seal, the user can produce 10 branches form their body before this ability is put on cool down. Branches can grow up to 5 meters long and be up to a meter thick. Any sharp points or edges on the branches can be as sharp as the power of this jutsu.

Branches made through this function cannot have branches grow on them, and this function can only be used 3 times per use of this jutsu."
"Branches can be freely manipulated as long as they are still connected to the body. I knew I was overlooking something important. I guess this jutsu is really only limited by my imagination." Jason muttered to himself excitedly. He couldn't believe he had overlooked such an important detail. Theoretically he could create almost anything within the parameters of the branches he could grow. The only other limitation he really had was his own imagination. Thinking about that, Jason decided to try and create different objects from his body. How ironic would it be to create a hammer out of wood? It didn't really matter. Jason moved over to a nearby tree that was quite large, larger than the others surrounding the clearing, and prepared himself to start creating different things from his body using the Wood Release: Cutting jutsu. He began by gathering his wood element chakra and then performing the Ram hand seal. He felt that he should first try and create different weapons. The first one he would make was a one meter long and four inches thick katana shaped branch with a sharp edge and the Senju clan symbol on the hilt. This katana grew from Jason's left forearm, shaping in to Jason's ideal sword protruding hilt first so he could grab it without injuring himself before separating it from his body. He examined the katana for a moment and then decided to create a sheathe for the newly made katana. Growing again from Jason's left forearm was a long wooden sheathe, made to fit the katana perfectly. The Senju clan symbol was three inches long on the center of both sides of the sheathe. He pulled it from his arm and slid the katana in to it perfectly. That was two branches down which left Jason with the ability to grow only eight more before having to re cast the jutsu. He preferred to create the different objects from his left forearm because it made it easy for him to grab the different weapons quickly, which he would need to be able to do if used in battle. For the third weapon, he made a one sided battle axe three feet long with the handle two inches wide and the wooden blade was sharp and a foot long. The Senju clan symbol was again located in the center of the blade on both sides. Jason had a strong loyalty to his clan so he felt he had to make the Senju clan symbol appear on each of the weapons and other objects he created through his wood style. He knew he could create up to seven more "branches" from his body now. This time Jason would create a two meter long and four inches thick staff with a one inch long Senju clan symbol on either end of the staff and pull it from his left forearm just as he had the other weapons. What was he going to do with all the weapons he was creating anyway? He wasn't sure but he was having fun stretching his imagination regardless. Next would be a five foot long war mace with the round spiked end being six inches thick and growing shaft first from his forearm so he would again be able to grab it quickly without hurting himself.
He was having a fun time trying to come up with different weapons to make this way, it wasn't something he really got to do often, or ever actually. Turning his attention back to the jutsu and away from those thoughts, he decided to try and create a sort of wall or shield for himself. A wood tendril extended itself from Jason's left wrist and formed in to a meter wide, six inches thick and five meter tall rectangle and detached itself from Jason, creating a small wall that would shield him from certain dangers. Of course the wall had the Senju emblem on the front of it as well. This time Jason decided to take a quick break and eat something to replenish his energy. Sitting down next to the large tree and pulled a bento lunch out of his bag and ate. When he was finished he decided he might as well try the jutsu out by fighting with one of his shadow clones. He would stand up and make the Clone seal creating a shadow clone. They stood facing each other five meters apart. The clone pulled out a kunai just as Jason did. They charged at each other and clashed kunai against kunai. They pushed away from each other and Jason threw his kunai at the clones head. The clone blocked it with his own kunai and Jason ran at the clone performing the Ram hand sign. When Jason was a meter away from the clone he jumped, growing two branches from his feet propelling him further in to the air. The clone took this opportunity to throw his kunai at Jason. Jason didn't have time to dodge so instead he grew a thick branch with a point from his right hand and knocked the kunai away, intending to then throw the branch at the clone. Just as Jason threw the branch however, the clone disappeared in a small cloud of white smoke, narrowly escaping being impaled. Jason landed on the ground and knew he had to keep moving so that the clone couldn't track his movements. He started running but it was too late. The clone reached out from behind one of the training dummies and pulled Jason towards him, restraining him with the wood release: cutting technique he had been practicing up until now.
Options flew threw Jason's mind. Should he try and break free, should he attempt to substitute out, should he just create a sharp branch from his head to attack? He needed to make up his mind now. The clone just one meter from Jason and had a sharp branch growing from the palm of his right hand which was extended toward Jason's head. Jason substituted with a small log, the branch piercing the air where his head was just seconds ago. Up high in the tree tops Jason could see the clone's every movement. He made his way through the branches to a point one meter behind the clone and dropped back down to the ground below. Jason ran at the clone growing a sharp branch from the palm of his right hand. Just as the clone turned around it was impaled in the heart, dispelling it in a cloud of smoke. Jason pulled the branch from his hand and stabbed it in to the ground. That had gone better than he had expected. It was a good thing he was able to think quickly and adapt to different situations or he would have ended up really killing himself. He should be more careful training in the future. Making mental notes about everything he and his shadow clone experienced as he always did, Jason walked back over to the tree where he had eaten his lunch. He couldn't believe he had already been able to master a technique utilizing the Senju clan's famed wood release. He truly was becoming more an more powerful by the day, preparing himself to take on any and all obstacles that might be thrown in his path. Nothing would thwart him from achieving his goal of one day becoming the most powerful and respected ninja in Konohagakure no Sato, the Village Hidden in the Leaves. Yes, he would become the Hokage and make sure he was able to protect every single member of the village. After all, he considered each and every one of them to be a part of his family already. It was a man's duty to protect his family with all of his strength, no matter what the cost, no matter what the circumstances, no matter what he had to sacrifice. He would be the shield and sword for his village, the light in the darkness, the fire that burned within all of their hearts. The Will of Fire was something that Konohagakure ninja prided themselves on, something that Hashirama Senju, the founder of the village, made sure was held dear to all of them and that it would be passed down from generation to generation. Being a prominent member of Konohagakure no Sato's famed and respected Senju clan, Jason had to make sure that this was one of his guiding principles, always. He wanted all of the shinobi of the Hidden Leaf Village to live this way, to have their hearts and souls burning with a fiery passion that only burned brighter with each passing day. Yes, he would make sure that this ideal lived on. With a smile on his face, Jason left the clearing and headed back to the village to show his friends how much he had improved.
