Who doesn't need more exam prep? (P. Oro, Kot, NK) Empty Who doesn't need more exam prep? (P. Oro, Kot, NK)

Now that Kotetsu had some missions lined up in order to meet that part of qualifying for the Chuunin exams, all he needed to do now was improve himself in order to stand a better chance of surviving. Sure his speed has drastically improved since he became a Genin, but there's only so much that will be able to do to help him when it comes to the Chuunin exam. There will be lots of difficult opponents and challenges that will laugh at his current progress in terms of training. He needs to get better. 'Another round at the training grounds is in order...' Kotetsu thinks to himself. 'I need to work on more than just improving my speed, since I'll need to be a more well-rounded shinobi if I'm to stand a chance in the Chuunin exams...'

Before doing so, he makes a stop at the Kozai Yuki Archives to look for scrolls. Anything that might help his training. Workout routines, specific jutsu, anything that might give him an edge. He came across a few useful techniques. The Mark tracking jutsu, an expansion on the Mark Seal jutsu would definitely be handy for those that liked to hide or suppress their chakra signatures, making it harder to find them. The Storage Displacement technique would be handy for storing items in an out of the way location so that they could be pulled out later when needed. There was another jutsu that caught his eye called the Immaterial Sword. It was an interesting concept. 'I wonder if I could somehow work that into an Ice style jutsu...' Kotetsu thinks to himself as he pulls that scroll and places it on the growing pile. There were also a few ninjutsu that caught his eye. Water Prison jutsu was a special one. Specially since he could combine that and the Water sealing technique to create a simple melee trap rather effectively. Water Wall and Great Breakthrough would be good too, since Kotetsu doesn't really have any defensive abilities right now, and he could always try combining the two to make a wall of ice. Those two scrolls got tossed on the pile too. The last group of scrolls that caught his eye were related to each other. Spirit Gun and Super Spirit Gun. Both sounded like useful offensive jutsu, and perhaps  he could combine it with a chakra nature to make it even stronger. 'Only one way to find out...'Kotetsu thinks to himself as he adds those scrolls to the already massive pile. The librarian gives him a funny look as he walks out with the large pile of scrolls, then shakes her head with muttered "kids..." It was obvious that Kotetsu would not be able to learn every single technique he pulled out of the Archives, but he was going to give it his best shot.

From the Archives, Kotetsu casually makes his way to the training grounds. While he does this, he lists off the scrolls he picked up, trying to decide what to work on first. There were so many options, it was hard to pick something. He decided he would start with the Spirit Gun jutsu first, and would work on the other ninjutsu scrolls he picked up first before working on anything else. The first scroll looked fairly simple, but no matter how hard he tried, he just couldn't seem to build up enough chakra in his finger to make the technique work. 'I may have to try this one again later...' Kotetsu thinks to himself with a grumble. Putting the scroll down, he looks over the other scrolls he brought with him, trying to determine what he wanted to work on next.

Who doesn't need more exam prep? (P. Oro, Kot, NK) Empty Re: Who doesn't need more exam prep? (P. Oro, Kot, NK)

orokana tried to sleep in that day. he didnt get much sleep lately with his work for the kage and val. he sighed deeply as he got up, not even noon yet. he hated the mornings. too much early goodness for him. he also hated the feeling of just waking up with little sleep. he grabbed his things. his cloak, book, and other things he normally brings. he sighed deeply as he made his way out of the room he was staying in. living in the place as a lowly grunt was not a good place to stay. it smelled and it was small. but he didnt need room since he didnt do a lot of things to do in his room or anything. oro walked outside towards the city getting something to drink. he made his way to the training grounds to practice some things he was meaning to do. he walked in and looked around. like always it was full of genin. some new and some old. he never took the time to talk to them but he needed a test subject to look at something. he noted a kid with some scrolls. trying to do a tech he guessed was spirit gun, but he couldnt. he gave up quickly. and he saw why. he couldnt feel the kids chakra at all meaning it was more then likely too weak to do the tech. he sighed. then went up to the kid, getting his attention by saying "hello, i am Orokana, i saw you are having issues with some training... and i can help a little. as you probably know your chakra isnt potent enough to use the tech... but i can help your chakra grow. the only thing you need to do to grow chakra is to use it more. if you like my help just ask me." he said placing his hand on his book. if the kid said yes he would take it out. if not he would just nod slowly, a bit disappointed.

Who doesn't need more exam prep? (P. Oro, Kot, NK) Empty Re: Who doesn't need more exam prep? (P. Oro, Kot, NK)

Mon Nov 06, 2017 2:19 am
It was a beautiful day to be outside training. There was a few clouds in the sky, but it did not impede the sun from shining down. It wasn't too hot or too cold, just on the summer side of warm. Not that the cold bothered Kotetsu. He could walk around in the dead of winter without any form of cold-weather gear and not feel the cold other than one might feel  a cool breeze. Kotetsu was not in a rush to master anything. He had quite a bit of time to work on his jutsu, so he wasn't overly discouraged that first technique he tried was beyond his skill as a Genin. 'Oh well...' he thought to himself, 'gives me something to work on after I complete the Chuunin exams...' He looks through the pile on the ground in front of him, trying to determine what he wanted to work on next. Water wall and Great Breakthrough would be a good combination to work on. He had heard that there were shinobi that could make hand signs with only one hand. It might be in his best interests to learn how to do that, as it would allow him to combine water and ice techniques to create different ice style ninjutsu. 'Perhaps that's something I can ask Valen-Sensei about after our next training session...'Kotetsu thinks to himself. Grimacing as he remembers their last sparring session...

He was alone that time. Cole had been otherwise occupied and Kenshin was off doing who knows what. That meant no distractions or interruptions in their spar. Kotetsu knew he had no hope of winning a fight yet, but it still wouldn't stop him from giving his all. 'Perhaps today's the day I'll actually hit him...' He thought to himself as he got ready for the fight. The fight went as you would have predicted. Kotetsu was still way out of his league. It ended with him landing in a heap before blacking out from the hit he just took.

'I need new tricks...' Kotetsu thought to himself as he shook his head to clear the daydream. 'Maybe that Immaterial Sword technique would be a good one to work on...' As Kotetsu was about to start working on that new technique, that was when someone started walking over towards him. They looked to be a little over five feet tall, and looked to be well built for his size. Not skinny but not husky either. They had somewhat pale skin, shaggy brown hair and dark green eyes. Once they got within speaking distance, they introduced themselves as Orokana and proceeded to point out where they thought the issues lay in Kotetsu's attempt at using the Spirit Gun jutsu. Kotetsu chuckles and replies. "I didn't realise until after I tried to use the jutsu that the scroll mentions that it shouldn't be attempted by those who are not of Chuunin rank or higher. I'm guessing I'll learn something as a Chuunin that will make learning that particular jutsu possible at that time. As for right now I'd like to think my chakra is fairly potent, for where I'm at in terms of my training, however I would not be opposed to additional training." Kotetsu would watch Orokana as he placed his hand on his book. While keeping the book in his periphery Kotetsu would introduce himself. "I am Kotetsu by the way, it's nice to meet you. Where do your skills lie in particular?" Kotetsu was always eager to find out more about those in the village, and this Orokana was new to him, so he would like to find out more about him, especially since it looked like he was also a Hoshi-nin.

Who doesn't need more exam prep? (P. Oro, Kot, NK) Empty Re: Who doesn't need more exam prep? (P. Oro, Kot, NK)

as the kid talked he didnt seem like he was too use to this yet. training "genjutsu." he said as he opened his book and looked into the pages. "spirit gun does need you to be chunnin to learn but you also need to work on your chakra. so here is what i recommend. pure chakra training. by me placing you into a strong genjutsu and you breaking out. my teacher did the same to me so im sure you can manage." he said going to the page in his book called tree binding death. then he looked at the kid. oro thought about it for a second. thinking back to his genin days when he started out. his teacher placing him in a gen he can barely not break out of. watching the fire of death fly to him. slowly getting closer and closer. feeling the heat of a small sun coming at him. until the flame hit him in a blinding light. then nothing. he didnt break out of that genjutsu but he was close. this kid didnt seem to have much interest in genjutsu so he didnt need a perfect lesson in genjutsu, but he still needed to know a little about it and how to break out of it. oro sighed. "you are either unlucky or lucky kid, because im the best genjutsu user in hoshi. you dont need to learn a lot about genjutsu unless you want to use it but, as a ninja, you need to know how to break out of it. so if you are willing a ready." he would wait for the kid to speak again. seeing how he reacted. oro wasnt a big hot shot but what he said wasnt wrong.

Who doesn't need more exam prep? (P. Oro, Kot, NK) Empty Re: Who doesn't need more exam prep? (P. Oro, Kot, NK)

'A Genjutsu user huh...' Kotetsu thought to himself as Orokana opened his book and started leafing through it. 'Good thing I've mastered the Genjutsu release technique to the point where I won't need hand signs...' Kotetsu resisted the urge to roll his eyes while Orokana was explaining why the Spirit Gun technique wasn't working for him. 'Yes...I'm aware that my chakra's potency can be improved...That's why I'm at the training grounds, to improve it...' He thought to himself as Orokana continued, explaining his training regimen to Kotetsu. 'If that's what he's planning on doing, As soon as he starts, I'll just assume everything is a Genjutsu and try to break out of it...' Kotetsu was brought out of his planning with a sigh from Orokana and a boast about his skill as a Genjutsu user. Kotetsu already knew how to break out of a Genjutsu and had mastered the technique to do so, but what the hell. If he really didn't want to continue at some point he would just call it off and either go home  or work on something else.

"I am ready when you are." Kotetsu says to Orokana. As he does this he slowly builds up his chakra in  preparation of whichever Genjutsu was thrown his way. 'I should be able to handle some of the lower tier Genjutsu that are out there...' Kotetsu thinks to himself, going over some of the basic ones he looked over in the Archives. 'If this guy really specialises in Genjutsu, he will likely have some techniques that Kotetsu will not be able to break out of. 'We'll have to see how things go...'

Who doesn't need more exam prep? (P. Oro, Kot, NK) Empty Re: Who doesn't need more exam prep? (P. Oro, Kot, NK)

(just so we both know, since you entered this topic at 30 chakra, you only have 30 chakra in this topic, but meh)

orokana looked at his book and started to read from it, it would explain how the genjutsu worked, how that it trapped the person in a tree making them unable to move. how big of an area it was and how long it lasted. many things of information. but once oro started talking about the genjutsu the young genin would be trapped in it. the tree slowly growing around him and trapping him in the tree. (power 60) thanks to his book his genjutsu only needed to be worded to make the genjutsu work for him. unlike most other genjutsu users casting the same genjutsu would need them to use the handseals as needed. oro is a inventor of his book genjutsu. something he hasnt mastered yet but something only he has for now. once he was done reading he would say. "well thats how it works. now dont take too long to break it because it can kill you, by slowly making your heart stop, like how it did for your muscles." he was lying. but it was a trick he did with his other students. a push that would make him try his best. he hoped.

Who doesn't need more exam prep? (P. Oro, Kot, NK) Empty Re: Who doesn't need more exam prep? (P. Oro, Kot, NK)

Mon Nov 20, 2017 2:42 am
(Just to clarify, I started the topic with 35 Chakra, not that it will affect my ability to resist the genjutsu)

Orokana started out by explaining the jutsu and what it did. Almost immediately, he vanished into the air, and a large tree started growing right behind him. 'I must already be in the genjutsu...' Kotetsu thought to himself. 'How, I didn't see any hand signs. Unless he has mastered this genjutsu, or has something that allows him to avoid using hand signs...I'll have to keep my eyes open and find out.' First thing to do was to try to break out by using the Genjutsu Release jutsu that he learned. Since the tree was binding his arms, he wouldn't be able to make hand signs. 'Good thing I don't need hand signs in order to use the jutsu...' He thought to himself  as he built up his chakra to shock his system out of the genjutsu. It didn't seem to work though, because the tree was still behind him, and Orokana was still invisible to him. He could hear his voice though, saying that if he didn't break out, the tree would kill him by stopping his heart. Kotetsu wasn't really concerned about the statement that was just made. It didn't really tie in with how the genjutsu was playing out. The tree was keeping him immobile, it wasn't crushing him or causing any kind of physical pain. The only way it would make his heart stop is if it were to start crushing his chest, which did not seem like a likely outcome in this situation. In any event all Kotetsu could do was focus his chakra and try to make it stronger, to break out of the genjutsu. It didn't seem like it was going to happen any time soon. He didn't know how close he was, but close didn't matter, he would only be able to break out if he could overcome the chakra  level needed  in order to break the genjutsu.

orokana watche dthe boy as he fought against the genjutsu. he sighed deeply and sat against a tree near the boy. reading his book. thinking of one genjutsu he was trying to make up. writing theories and diagrams about the genjutsu and how he thought it would work once he finished his work on it. it still needed a lot of work before he could test it. oro ignored the boy and any grunts or anything he might say. he waited till the boy got out. he yawned as he waited for events to unfold. the kid was trying. which was good but boring. in theory this little lesson would be useless for the kid. no genjutsu user wold use a fancy gen like this in a fight. unless he was weak enough for it to work. or if the genjutsu user wasnt up to par to be a genjutsu user. but as long as the kid could break it and was fine with not learning anything after he would need to figure out genjutsu on his own.

It didn't seem like Kotetsu was making any progress with breaking the Genjutsu. It was going to be a struggle, but that's how things were sometimes. Just like his sparring sessions with Valen, they were not something that went in his favour, but he had to persevere. If anything the Jutsu will wear off eventually, and Kotetsu was a patient individual. He could still work on his ability to break out of the Genjutsu, since it's not like he had anything better to do. While doing that he could come up with other ideas for after this particular training session was over. He'd definitely need a stronger Genjutsu release type jutsu. Something else that didn't require hand signs. 'I wonder  if you could use chakra sensory to simulate the feeling of someone else's chakra funneling into you to try to break a Genjutsu...' Kotetsu thought to himself. 'I could always also look at creating a stronger version of the Genjutsu release. Like a shock to the system to get myself out of it...' There were probably a few different options, it was just a matter of finding the ones that worked best for Kotetsu.

orokana kept writing. almost forgetting about the genin. this tech took more or his time and memory. he needed it so he can do as he pleased and finished his idea. he wounder how the others would feel about him using this tech. he hoped they didnt think overly high of it. his cloak if anything was more impressive. oro sighed deeply as he read the rough draft of his work. this tech, as long as oro isnt 5 meters from them or less (if closer then 5 the genjutsu will be broken for that person), will make him invisible. as long as oro moves slow this gen will not be broken. as well as hold the tiger hand seal. also if people can see him before and after he uses the tech they will still see him during the tech. hr wrote in the 3rd person since this will be exclusively for him though if he could teach others it he figured they could be feared for what they could do. though he figured most people would be more scared of powerfully things. since this was the time they lived in. but he wasnt that. cheap tricks and tactics was more so his thing. plus he was lazy and didnt want to waste physical labor if he didnt need to. a rare thing now a days with hoe much energy people have. all he needed was time and to study. with the kid doing his training he could make an excuses to relax and not work.
