A mans Best Freind

It was another peaceful day in Konohagakure no Sato when Minato was strolling around the streets of his village. He had some free time after meeting with his team so he figured he would spend it exploring. 
From a distance he could spot Rune, the young Uchiha he had met a couple of days ago in the Uchiha District where they had a little sparring session. Walking towards each other it would take no time for Rune to notice Minato as well, which led to them greeting each other.
Before they could continue their conversation, they were suddenly interrupted by the loud sound of what seemed to be a barking dog.
Rune suggested they should go and check out what was going on since it might be something serious. Once they had arrived at the scene they would see a massive dog running around, barking at each and every person he would come across. It almost looked like he was trying to warn them or ask for help.
As the two of them walked up to the dog they would soon find out that he was wearing a name tag with "Battle" on. It seemed like he was a guide dog, trained to help out people who were blind. 
Both of them figured that something could have happened to the dog's owner so they decided to follow it as they made clear to it to lead them to its owner.

Running through the woods they would finally arrive at what seemed to be the result of the ground collapsing. They both could hear a voice screaming out for help. When Rune asked Minato if he had any ideas he figured they should start by calming down the person and to assure him that they would get him out.
"Can you hear us? Are you hurt? Don't worry, help is on the way."

Once they had gotten the man calmed down Rune walked over and grabbed a couple big tree limbs “hay give me a hand we can put these in the hole and slide them up out of it.” he would wait for Minato to come over and the two of them would slide two tree limbs down into the hole creating a makeshift bridge/latter. Once they had gotten it together Rune would go down into the hole after letting Minato decide if he wants to go first or not.


Down in the hole, it's dark and the smell of dirt filled Rune’s nose. The man wasn’t far from where they dropped the homemade ladder down into. Reaching out to grab the guy gently “Hay were here to help you I need you to lay down on this ladder here and we will help you back up, are you hurt at all.” The man would thank them and tell them that he twisted his ankle when he fell but he should be able to help them get him back up out of here. Rune would let Minato take the lead while he helped push the guy up the ladder. He knew that Minato was stronger and could boost his strength if needed as well. With the combined strength of the two of them working together it didn’t take long before they had the man back up out of the hole.


Sitting the man down beside the hole the dog battle came over to look him over and give him a few licks as well. However, looking at the leg it was definitely broken and Rune didn’t know any enough to be able to get him back to the village. “Hay he is not going to be able to make the walk back one of us is going to have to go get some medical help out here.” Rune would tell Minato pulling him to the side where the man wouldn’t be able to hear. He would let Minato decide who would run back for help. If Minato did Rune would stay with the man and keep him company while Minato was away.

If Rune went he would make his way to the village as fast as he could and head straight up to the check-in station at the village gate. Telling them that he needed medical help a man fell into a hole outside the village and broke his ankle. The chunin at the village gate would be able to get a few medical ninjas to accompany Rune back to the spot and help the man get back to the village and get treated at the hospital.

After hearing the man confirm that he had heard their voices, the two Uchiha started to collect big pieces of wood that they would use to put something together where the injured man could lay on. To the best of their abilities and with the little time they had, they succeeded in building some kind of ladder which they slowly lowered into the hole where the man was waiting for help. As they both had lowered theirselves down as well to check up on his condition both Rune and Minato carefully placed the man on the ladder. 

Now that they had placed the man on the ladder it was time to get him out of the hole as soon as possible so his injury could get treated. It was key to handle this with utmost care as they needed to avoid making his injury worse. Using their combined strength the two boys were slowly but steady pushing the man upwards. Minato decided to be the last one to get up as he would be giving the final push to get them out. Once they were almost at the top he would gather his strength to push them up so they would be able to get out successfully. He would join them soon as he would have no trouble getting out himself.

Now that they had gotten the injured man out safely they would be able to get a closer look at the situation. Both of them weren't a doctor but even they were able to notice that his ankle was broken. Trying not to worry the man even more, they were discussing if one of them should return to the village and ask for medical help. It seemed like that was their safest option. 

Minato figured he should be the one to stay behind with the man and his guide dog, so he told Rune.
"You should return to the village and ask for help. I'll stay behind, you never know a wild animal or a Missing Nin will appear out of the forest and I have a better chance to defend ourselves. We shouldn't lose any time so run to the village as fast as you can while I wait here for your return."

With the decision made for Minato to stay behind Rune took off running as fast as he could to get to the village gate. It didn’ take him long to clear the distance as the hole was only a mear 40 meters away outside of the gate. Making it into the gate Rune ran up to the check-in station were two chuunin was sitting checking people into the village. He ran up to the desk and stopped leaning over the desk catching his breath when one of them came around and asked him what was wrong. He was able to tell them that a man fell into a hole and he needs medical attention. The guy tells him to wait here they will need him to show them where he is.


By the time the medical team arrived Rune had caught his breath and was ready to go. The two-man followed him at his top speed to the sight of the incident. “It looks like he may have broken his ankle and we were pretty sure that he was not going to be able to make it back to the village on it.” Rune would tell them as he caught his breath once more. Rune would turn to leave but would stop before doing so looking at Minato. “Its been fun man but I think I'm going to go get some rest. Then work on my stamina that double 40-meter dash killed me,” he would tell Minato with a bit of a half smile as he walked away.

As Rune took off back to the village to find medical help for the injured man, Minato decided to stay behind and make sure that nothing would happen to him. Even though they were at a time of peace it still didn't mean they couldn't encounter a Missing Nin, since chances were they would try and steal from him. So the young Uchiha stayed behind in case he needed protection. Comforting the man that help would arrive soon, he would make sure to calm him down as he didn't want his injury to become worse.

A bit of time had passed and there still was no sign of Rune or a medical team. Waiting for help to hopefully come soon, Minato made sure that the man would be able to lay down as comfortable as possible. In the company of the massive guide dog named Battle, he was glad that he wasn't left all by himself. 

Just about to start wondering when help would arrive, Minato could spot three silhouettes coming from the distance. As the three of them were getting closer he would notice that one of them was none other than Rune. To his relief, he was accompanied by two Medical shinobi who would surely be able to take care of the man and his broken ankle.

Clearly out of breath, Rune came over to tell Minato he needed to leave but that he had fun successfully taking care of the situation. Fun wasn't the first thing coming to mind when he considered the situation they were in, but Minato was still happy that they were able to help out in this situation. Exhausted from running up and back the village, Rune said his goodbyes, claiming he needed to rest a bit after all his running back and forward. 

Waving each other off it was time for Minato to head back as well, joining the company of the two medics, the injured man and his dog Battle.
