Chuunin Exam Finals: Yoi Yuki vs Tadashi Namikaze

Upon seeing Yoi's resoluteness in following through with his close-range attack, a small smile formed on the ginger's face. He was both proud of Yoi's courage to engage in close-quarters combat and his expertise in his bloodline skills. Less resolved shinobi in Yoi's place would have tried to run away at the last second and perform some ranged attack that would only be cut down by Tadashi; a stalling of defeat to be exact. The Yuki knew that the battle was going to be over in the last few seconds, so this was the best way to combat Konoha's Ace. But sometimes, trying your best isn't enough. The ginger had been in this situation many times, yet this was surely the first time Yoi had to engage someone in close quarters combat.

The ginger's Sharingan darkened the moment Yoi's began shifting his weight to Tadashi's left as they were 3 meters away from each other. It was a no brainer that the young Yuki was aiming for a strike to his opponent's left, as the precognition from the Namikaze's Sharingan allowed him to predict that accurately. The moment Yoi began shifting his weight, Tadashi immediately outstretched his left index finger at Yoi's upper body, pivoting his feet to the right to make it harder for Yoi to strike him. Suddenly, an orb of turquoise electricity would form on the teen's left index finger, charging up an energy blast that would end in imminent doom for the Yuki. For a brief moment, Tadashi felt Raijin's energy coursing through him, emitting, expanding, and ultimately, conquering his target with its force. 

"The Thunder God's Spear: Raijin's Fury!" Tadashi cried out internally, as the orb exploded out in a surge of electrical chakra, starting as a 1 meter wide and tall blast, and continuing as 5 meters wide and tall. The blast would be extremely hard for Yoi to dodge if he could even react sufficiently which the ginger doubted since the blast was at point-blank range, destroying the Ice Armor and Ice Kunais that came in  Should Yoi be swallowed whole by the giant wave of electricity, which was likely to occur, he'd be in excruciating pain, paralyzed from hand to toe, nerves unresponsive to any of his commands. His eyes couldn't close, doomed to be open whilst he was paralyzed. Since Yoi was going to be paralyzed for a while, Tadashi had all the time to do whatever he wanted to the boy, but because they were comrades, the ginger decided to spare his suffering for a while. Sheathing Jubaku, Tadashi would look at Yoi's sclera, not wanting to be affecting by any Genjutsu the Yuki had. "Yoi," he cleared his throat before continuing, "Take pride in your achievements today, you have made me and many others, proud to be associated with you. Your prowess in Ninjutsu and Ice techniques have been the catalyst for our battle today, and I thank you dearly for that. I swear that your loss against me will not go to waste in my path as a shinobi." Tadashi said sincerely, saddened that Yoi couldn't win the battle today. The ginger felt a twitch of sorrow, realizing the pain that Yoi will go through, that, his best, wasn't enough to beat Konoha's Ace.

Nevertheless, Tadashi kept his poker face, resolute in his actions, not regretful of the path that his actions had led him to. "I cannot regret what I will do today, how many goals that I have crushed during the Chuunin Exams. If I stop here now, then all of the wishes of the people that I have beaten will go to waste. Not again - never again." The Namikaze thought, the pattern of his Sharingan changing for a brief moment before turning back to normal. Once again, he gripped the sheath of Jubaku with his left hand, with his right hand, bathed in the blood of his stopped slice, gripping Jubaku's hilt steadily. The pain of his right hand helped Tadashi ready himself for what was about to come. His regrets and negative thoughts were relinquished at that moment, mind in exquisite equilibrium. Memories of Hayate's blade meeting Sen's ripe flesh came into Tadashi's mind. The movement, the quickdraw, the follow-through, everything was perfect. Now, it was time for Tadashi to attempt. Of course, he had never studied the art of Iaijutsu out of spite, since he thought that was a specialty of Kirigakure ninja, but it seemed like an acceptable way to finish off the Yuki. "May this be the blow that will spur you on to become a stronger shinobi. Despise weakness."


 Getting in an attack stance, Tadashi would rush towards Yoi, unsheathing Jubaku at the last minute to make a deep slash at Yoi's abdomen, sending the boy flying upwards, specks of blood spilling from his wound. The laceration was deep enough to make the boy unconscious for a while, but not deep enough to create lasting wounds.

The Yuki, moved to the right, his feet kicking up small amounts of dust. As the two charged at each other, Yoi noticed Tadashi pointing his finger at Yoi. Yoi saw a large beam of electricity shoot out of his finger. It broke through Yoi’s armor and weapons, leaving Yoi there, paralyzed. Yoi heard Tadashi’s monologue, “Yoi. Take pride in your achievements today, you have made me and many others, proud to be associated with you. Your prowess in Ninjutsu and Ice techniques have been the catalyst for our battle today, and I thank you dearly for that. I swear that your loss against me will not go to waste in my path as a shinobi.”

The Yuki let out an internal sigh. Yoi had learned by now that Tadashi was one for theatrics. If the two of them had switched places, Yoi would’ve simply knocked Tadashi out with a blow to his head with the back of a Kunai. Tadashi on the other hand… He gave Yoi a monologue with flourishing language, fluid and fancy, yet a rather useless, choice of words. Yoi had seen for himself, with Calin, that the shinobi world was cut-throat and it was business, not an art. Yoi, remembered killing that ninja. He hadn’t been very powerful, but Yoi still took no chances. The shinobi world wasn’t for the weak. And Yoi needed to be strong.

Tadashi readied his sword and said, “May this be the blow that will spur you on to become a stronger shinobi. Despise weakness.” 

Yoi, if he could, would raise an eyebrow. Yoi already disliked his former weakness. And his current weakness. Tadashi had been there at the gates firsthand, seeing Yoi’s former crippled state. Yoi carried his scars with him. He tried not to be weak. Tadashi, if he was as perceptive as he had been in the Chunnin Exams, would have seen, below the sadness, the fire in Yoi’s eyes while he had been lying there in the hospital bed. Yoi saw Tadashi run at him slashing across his own abdomen. Yoi’s knees buckled and he fell unconscious to an unsettling warmth. Warmth. Heat. Fire. Rage. Yoi knew it. That’s what Yoi felt. It’s what destroyed Yoi. The flaming of Calin’s, and formerly Yoi’s, blade. The warmth of his own blood. The fire in his own eyes. The scorching of Calin’s blade. As Yoi’s world fell into darkness, he could think of only thing...

With that, the long awaited, long lasting Chuunin exams were finally over. A victor had been determined. Pushing off of his seat, Kinzoku would walk to the edge of the railing to look down upon the victor and his victim. With the of his hand, a group of medics made their way out in to the field in order to take a look at the young Yuki in an attempt to bring him back. If they could not then he would be taken to the hospital. Kinzoku would follow up by pouncing from his top balcony, robes fluttering in the air as he descended upon the stadium. Landing as effortlessly as ever, he slowly made his way over to where the two Genin were. Kinzoku placed aa hand on each of their shoulders, assuming Yoi was awake before saying "You two fought phenomenally. You have made both myself and this village proud to call you a shinobi of Konohagakure. Now give it up for your winner and Konoha's newest Chuunin, Tadashi Namikaze!" Kinzoku yelled the last words as the crowd give out a loud cheer while he give a couple of claps for the two of them. He waved his hand once more before a sole shinobi made his way over to the group. He handed Kinzoku a set of items before departing. To Yoi, he would be given a single sack containing ryo for making it to the finals of the exam. To Tadashi, he would also receive a sack containing ryo, slightly heavier than the former. He would also be handed a Chuunin Flak jacket, customary to all those promoted to Chuunin although not necessary to be worn. 

"Now go on. Continue to make Konohagakure proud."

So, that was it. Crowds cheered. Family jeered. The sky's gloomy atmosphere turned a brilliant blue as the former Hokage, Kinzoku Nazar descended to the arena. Tadashi, covered in sweat and exhausted from the battle, sheathed his odachi and deactivated Raijin which was still active after Yoi passed out. A simple set of moves, but ones of humbleness to approach a higher up. Konoha's Ace was in disbelief, still in shock that his two-year-long journey to become a Chuunin would conclude here. But in the meantime, his worries and irresoluteness were deafened by cheers of the crowd. He could see his brother and father, Raiu and Soichirou chanting his name with reverent pride. The two of them were the ones who witnessed Tadashi's growth in both character and shinobi prowess from start to finish, so the ginger couldn't help but smile at the two of them. His cheeks rose and grew pink with calm pride, showing for the first time in a while true happiness. As Kinzoku arrived at the tattered arena, filled with cracks and smudges of bright vermillion blood spilled by the Yuki, the ginger would dart his eyes towards the former Hokage. The reality of how long the Exams lasted truly started to set in for the ginger, realizing that during the duration of the Exams, there was a Hokage switch from Kinzoku to Yensung. Tadashi wondered how Xyxer Tadashi or the current Mizukage would react to this change; he felt his blood boiling for a moment once he thought about the white-haired man, clad in foreign, gaudy armor responding to this change. Nevertheless, the ginger wondered how Yensung Aburame would lead the village from shame to greatness. Though, he couldn't expect people he barely knew to fulfill his goals and for him to see through it vicariously. Such wasn't the doctrine of the Ninja World, as the only thing you could trust was yourself. It was a mediocre pill to swallow for Tadashi since he had already seen a great number of horrors the Ninja World had in stock for him. 


What brought the ginger back to reality was a firm hand placed on his shoulder by the former Hokage. Tadashi wore a small jacket and a cotton shirt on his upper body, yet he could still feel a prevailing sense of Kinzoku's firm and slightly rough hands. They said the hands of a warrior could speak all of the warriors in question, and the ginger could tell the man had been through many battles and was a reliable upperclassman to depend on. The cowboy's valiant voice boomed through the teen's soul, complimenting both the ginger and the Yuki on their skills of shinobi. Tadashi let out a petulant sigh internally, he'd been complimented on his strengths as a shinobi for years now, yet his only true showing as a ninja was during the invasion of Sunagakure, and he failed horribly. He needed a swordsman from none other than Kirigakure to aid him in a battle against a wanderer. The ginger needed strength, something that could allow opponents to cower in fear whenever his name was mentioned. Something that can bring Konoha from the depths of hell to a true Golden Age. Today was a restart, a new day to become a Hero. This time, he wouldn't fail.


"Thank you, Mr. Kinzoku. I'll do my best!" He said, using the leftover strength in his body to show valor and sincereness in his words. His smile would be different from his usual ones; his old smiles were ones of ignorant bliss, like the smile of a child. This was different... a birth of something to truly marvel at would commence with that smile. As Kinzoku gave him a sack of cash and a Chuunin Flak Jacket, Tadashi would immediately put on the Flak Jacket, fitting extremely well on him. "It appears that it was tailored well to my size." The ginger whimsically thought to himself, looking up to the sky for a moment before thanking Kinzoku and grabbing his sack of cash off the tattered ground. The crowds were still applauding Tadashi's performance, so he shot a thumbs up at them which increased the amount of applause. The ginger sweatdropped, never having the whole village cheering for him at once. This made his cheeks redden with embarrassment for a moment. Before leaving the arena, he'd glance at the Hokage stands, seeing Yensung Aburame and Jason Senju. He'd almost laugh as he looked at Jason Senju, given their "strained" interaction a few months prior, but he wasn't one to judge people based on one interaction.
