Ashes to ashes {Closed, invite only}

Mission
There was a listed need for some supplement of charcoal within her village. Luckily that was not something hard to come by, but it could be considered tedious work. The process of getting your hands on some of that black brittle substance, was by collecting the black remains of wood after being abused by the devouring flames. Meaning that Aroma was going to need to gather herself a decent supply of wood suitable to be lit. along with the individual that may also partake within the mission.
The lavender haired kunoichi treated herself to some egg sushi for breakfast, before making her way to the desired meeting spot. For the time being, the woman would be dressed in some common day to day clothes. For the wood work would be a little unsuitable for wearing the clothes she'd usually wear. She approached upon the meeting spot, wondering to herself whether or not her partner for today's team would already be waiting on her. At least she knew that she would be there around the given time.
Amongst her common clothes, there would be two ninja pouches strapped to the upper portion of her right thigh. Her brilliant lavender hair fell free from behind her shoulders. And there would be the usual bindings that wrapped around her eyes.

Katsu walked into the mission center as he had done countless times before. At this point he and his brother felt like they knew this place like the back of their hands. The smell of parchment assaulted them as they entered. It wasn’t a bad smell, but not something that either of them were particularly fond of. Since they were getting ready to go on a mission, the two boys wore matching black jackets and black pants, not that Masaru’s were currently visible. To be honest, this was something that always bothered Katsu, where did his brother’s clothes go? Were they inside of him right now? He shook his head, trying to return his attention to the task at hand.
Masaru’s head peaked out of Katsu’s shoulder as he read through the scroll they had been handed. This would be the boys first C rank mission, and it was to gather charcoal. He understood that the village needed this substance, but he hardly felt this was ninja work, and couldn’t really figure out why it was C rank either. I guess they could burn themselves, because of that this could very well be the most dangerous mission they had undertaken so far, which left him feeling somewhat sad. There were times that he really didn’t feel like a shinobi.
Katsu didn’t immediately leave the mission desk after getting the scroll. He had read through it, and saw that he would have a partner on this mission. He skimmed over the location to meet them, but knew he needed to ask a question before he left. “Do you have any instructions on how to make charcoal?”
The chuunin who had handed him the scroll reached under the desk and pulled out a small instruction manual. Which the boys promptly took and stepped away from the desk so that they wouldn’t be blocking anyone who needed to speak to the chuunin. Within the book they found a plethora of different options on how to make charcoal, from simply burning wood which had a low yield as much of the wood was lost in the process. A method that involved sealing the wood under leaves and then packing mud and dirt over the fire and burning it, which led to a higher yield due to the low oxygen environment. Finally there was a method that involved two steel drums, the smaller of the drums placed within the larger. This let you burn wood in the larger drum while the wood in the smaller drum was basically cooked, removing all of the gasses from the wood in the smaller drum without much loss since the wood being turned into charcoal wasn’t actually on fire.
After reading though everything they decided that the last option looked to be the best due to the high yield and less risk of losing their work since the wood they were trying to turn into charcoal wouldn’t accidentally burn up if they didn’t maintain everything perfectly. With that decision in mind, they returned the instructions to the chuunin and headed out of the office to rendezvous with the ninja they were supposed to complete the mission with.
Katsu arrived at the mission location, Masaru’s head sticking out of his left shoulder. The two noticed a women with lavender hair and realized they recognized her. Katsu waved as he came up, “Hey, I remember you. You are…” He trailed off, either not remembering her name, or possibly never getting her name in the first place. “Sorry, what was your name? Oh and do you know where we could get some steel drums?”
Masaru quickly followed up on his brother's question before the girl had time to answer. "It is for making the charcoal, we read a manual about it." He quickly talked about the method involving the two steel drums, ending his explanation abruptly as he realized he had been talking for a bit and hadn't allowed her a chance to respond to their questions. At this point he didn't even remember if they had reintroduced themselves, but he felt it was probably best to just shut up and let her speak.

It wasn't long after that one of the twins would arrive at the mission location. Her body was leaned against a rough textured surface, and she turned her attention to the individual, or might I say individuals. Just as Masaru's head appeared from his brother's neck. This type of phantom phasing thing was definitely something she had to get used to. This was probably the only time Aroma would ever come across such a unique ability. And probably would never have the chance to lay her eyes on anything that even compared to the oddness of the potential of the two.
Katsu had announced his familiarity recognition of the lavender haired female, and went to ask of her name. This caused the woman to tilt her head a little. After a moment of trying to recalculate their last encounter, She too was unaware if she had been able to exchange her name with them before the unexpected attack. One thing she did know, was that she couldn't help but feel a little gratitude for the twin's ability to stop that attacker. Just as Aroma had opened her lips to speak her name, she would shyly trail off at the mention of steel drums. She couldn't help but give a little soft chuckle. The twins had found a much more easier way to decrease the amount of labor to retrieve wood, while increasing the output of charcoal at the same time. That was a brilliant discovery.
"Hmm steel drums. . kinda like a barrel of steel. I bet a craftsmith would have one laying around within their shop. What do you think?" Then she had realized that she once again forgot to announce her name. Maybe it was because Aroma was the type to feel slightly skeptical when giving her name. But for the gratitude she felt towards them, a name wouldn't hurt to return the favor. "Also you may call me Aroma~" Her works spoke fluently as she smiled softly.

The boys listened as once again she avoided giving her name, instead answering Katsu’s second question. Katsu considered asking her again, even after she had posed a question to them, but then she relented and finally spoke her name. “Pleased to finally meet you Aroma.” He smiled, Masaru echoing his brother, then continuing on to answer her. “That sounds promising.” He paused for a moment trying to think how they should go about this.
After a moment he came to a conclusion. He stepped out of his brother, the once two headed boy becoming two separate entities. “We need to find barrels, collect wood, and clear an area of debris away from people to actually do the burning. Three tasks and three of us. Do you have a preference on what you would like to do?” Katsu jumped into the conversation, “And fire. We need fire!” Masaru glanced at his brother’s outburst and shook his head, Katsu completely oblivious to the motion. “Yes I suppose that is true. Maybe the person going to get the barrels can find something we can use to light the fire, unless that is something you can do?” He looked to Aroma, not sure if she had such an ability or not.

"Fire. . . unfortunately I do not have anything that could help with ignition when it comes to my abilities." She rested her right hands against her cheek. Obviously being deep in thought as she did her best to think of something that would be of use. Then it clicked, "Wait. . I do have some matches at home. I have a thing when it comes to candles and incense. So I can stop by there and grab a few. Then all we need is leaves and twigs as kindling." The kunoichi would give her input, as she tried her best to be of some use. The matches was all she could manifest when it came to her current abilities or possessions.
Now it was time to decide what job was assigned to whom, as the twins exclaimed how it would be best to do the three jobs individually. For it would indeed quicken the pace of the missions completion. With this sort of decision that was to be made, Aroma wasn't really the type to be picky. She almost felt the need to be the one that put some back bone into this mission. She had no complaints about taking part in gathering up the needed wood for the charcoal making. "If you don't mind, I can gather up the wood and grab some of the matches along the way to do so." Obviously the kunoichi would wait to know how the twins felt about her option before making an actual decision on what to do, or what her job was to be. In most cases Aroma preferred to work on her own, but she also had the desire of not being rude towards the young twins after what they had been through not long ago. Even though it felt a little off to her, Aroma would accept this gratitude she felt in this case.

The twins nodded at her words, happy to hear she had some way to produce fire, even if it was a mundane way. All they needed was fire, so whether someone could shoot it out of their mouth or pull out a match, it made no difference to them. “Sounds good to me. You can take care of the fire and the wood, I will go clear out a space and Masaru can find barrels.” Katsu quickly took a few steps, not waiting for his brother to agree with that.
Masaru didn’t let him get far though, “You just don’t want to have to be the one to talk to people!” He stopped for a moment, reconsidering what he just said. “Wait you like talking to people. You just want to make me talk to people.” He grumbled, his brother continuing to walk away without so much as a backwards glance. Realizing he wasn’t going to get any response from Katsu, he turned back to Aroma. “That sounds good. Let us know if you need any help, your task will probably take longer than ours.” He pulled out a small terrible drawing and showed it to her, “Sorry about Katsu’s… artwork. We are here.” He pointed to a spot on the map, then moved his finger along the red line that had been drawn. “The spot we are going to clear is over here. It is near the woods, so you should be able to get some wood there, but not in them in case we make a mistake with the fire.” He handed her the garbage drawing, then put his hands behind his head and strolled off in the direction of the shops.

The way the two twins interacted with each other wa always intriguing to witness. Watching as Masaru called out his brother's lack of conversation with people. Aroma was slightly surprised, at first it had seemed as if Katsu was the one that enjoyed being open with speaking. But perhaps she was wrong or something was causing him to hold his tongue. She kindly took the drawing the Masaru offered to her. Hearing as he continues by apologizing for the artist's artwork, before moving on to discuss the layout of the parchment. The drawing mapped out the location where they was going to to the process for making the charcoal. The details he gave did seem very relevant, it was indeed a good idea to do fuel burning outside of the forest. Just in case to prevent any potential failures that could lead up to a fire outbreak. "Sounds good~ I'll meet up with you guys there with the wood and matches."
With that, Aroma also went on her own way to begin the mission. It took her only a few minutes to drop be her house to grab the matches from her alter along with a handful of tissues, while she was on her way to a blacksmith shop close by. This is where she ended up seductively pleading to borrow an axe that was proper for chopping some wood for the charcoal. Luckily enough, after promising to return the axe and tipping the blacksmith with a few ryo, the kunoichi was able to leave the blacksmith shop with a medium sized axe and some sort of bundle bad slung over her shoulder. The man was nice enough to also allow her to borrow the bundle bag since they needed something to haul to materials in.
Next thing on the agenda was now to enter the woods, nearby the mapped location on the art drawing. Her mind was set to searching for any dead tree not far from the location. For burning it was best to use dry wood. This would be found by any dead trees that shown any obvious signs of dry rot. Her perception scanned over her surroundings, until she was fortunate enough to find a rather large dead log that was collapsed against the ground. The trunk was definitely dead, and prepared to be butchered up into logs. Luckily for Aroma that she had been smart enough to wear common day to day clothes for this assignment. She positioned herself before the dead tree and raised the high above her head, before bringing it down upon the dry corpse with a splintering sound.
After the hussle of chopping up the tree corpse with the axe, her hands was definitely feeling the soreness from holding the rough texture of it's handle. And the force impact of each land was definitely not something she was used to. But the labor would not seem to damper either her mood, or confidence. The lavender haired female ventured back to the given location with the bundle back hauled over her right shoulder. Filled with enough logs to do two full large barrels of burning, all packed within that bundle bag. Within one of her ninja pouches would he sone soft dry cotton she found upon a plant, along with some snapped up twigs and her tissues for kindling. The axe was slung on the opposing should if the bundle bag full of dry logs. No doubt the twins would already be there waiting on her.

Re: Ashes to ashes {Closed, invite only}

Katsu headed off to clear a location for the charcoal burning. It was rare that he was alone, and while he liked to think that sometimes he wanted this, the quiet, the feeling of being on his own, when it came down to it, he didn’t. It always felt strange being on his own. He and his brother were inseparable, and in times that he was alone, he felt loneliness in a way that others probably couldn’t understand. But he had a job to do, and it wasn’t like he would be alone for long. He kept telling himself this as he arrived at the location he had marked on the map.
The area was already clear of a lot of debris, a few sticks and stones here and there, but all and all not too bad. He set to work, pulling up some small patches of grass in a circular motion. More grass, more pulling. A few minutes in he started to wonder why he had chosen this task. This was really boring. But, it needed to be done, so he persevered, ripping up grass and clearing out a good circle of space. As he worked, he threw small twigs away, keeping a few larger ones he found to be added to the fire incase they needed it. As boring as it was, it really didn’t take him too long. Once finished, he sat back, and waited for Masaru and Aroma.
Masaru strolled down the street in the village, poking his head into a few random shops until he found himself at a blacksmith. It was hot, hotter than he expected it to be. But I guess that just sort of came with the business, can’t smelt metal and hammer out some nice weapons without a hot forge. The heat seemed to condense and increase as he stepped in, the door closing behind him, holding in the hot temperatures. A large man stood in the back, arms like tree trunks, hammering away at something or other. Masaru’s attention settled on the man and he watched him banging away for longer then he had intended, when he remembered why he had come, and more importantly, that he was dying from the heat.
As he stepped forward, ready to call out, a boy, or maybe a man called out, though not loud even that the hammering likely drowned out his voice for the large man hammering away. “Don’t interrupt him.” Masaru eyed him for a moment, finally settling on boy, though he likely had a few years on him and his brother. He strode up to him, trying to talk loud enough that the boy could hear him, but not loud enough that the blacksmith could. “Do you happen to have some steel barrels you could part with? I need a large one, and a smaller one that would fit in it. Oh, and… maybe the large one has holes in the bottom of it?” The boy stared at him quizzically, then shook his head. “We don’t sell barrels, we need them for work.”
Masaru sighed ready to turn back, but then thought about his brother. He wouldn’t be deterred just because someone said no. Honestly there were times Masaru wasn’t even sure he heard people when they said no. He just kinda, did his own thing. So while it wasn’t something he was particularly comfortable with, he tried again acting as if the boy hadn’t just refused his request. “As I said, two barrels, one large with holes in the bottom, and one small. I need them to make charcoal.”
The boy before him had an agitated look on his face as Masaru seemed to be ignoring what he said, but before he could retort, he heard the last thing he said. “For charcoal you said? You wouldn’t be a shinobi completing a mission for the village would you?” The boy paused, and Masaru could tell something was going on in his head, and a moment later he could hear muttering. “Cost of the barrel, new work for the master, new materials…” Then his voice picked up, as he responded to Masaru. “Barrels for charcoal, right. We can do that.” He disappeared for a moment, before coming back, carrying two barrels, one large enough that Masaru could probably fit in it, the other a bit smaller, but larger than he expected. Had he any inkling to their actual sizes, they were a 55 gallon drum, and a 30 gallon drum, but he did not. The large one also included a lid.
Masaru thanked him, and then struggled to carry the two things back on his own. He settled on putting the smaller drum in the larger and rolling it. He could handle the weight, but honestly he didn’t want to carry it over his head, and the thing was just too big for him to fit his arms around, so roll it he did. He arrived at the site where Katsu was lounging around, his brother jumping to his feet as Masaru arrived.
“Masaru I miss… I was lone… What took you so long?” Katsu settled on the last response, knowing full well his brother would have understood what he was trying to say, and felt the same. His brother didn’t bother responding though, sharing the sentiment, and they set the large barrel up, the small one next to it. Wordlessly the two set about punching small holes in the bottom of the large barrel with kunai to allow oxygen in, then settled down to wait for Aroma. They doubted she would be long though, Masaru had taken a while after all.

As the two boys worked on the large metal barrels for the process of making bu dkes of charcoal, a lavender haired kunoichi would drop a heavy weighted bundle bag onto the ground close beside them. Her snake eyes behind the black sheer bindings casted a glance around the place. The twins had done an amazing job getting the place set up and ready for the objective. The debris was all pushed away and gone from their area in particular for the burning, and the barrels was getting set up for the job. Aroma couldn't help but grin sheepishly as their work, while propping the medium sized axe against the rough surface of a rock nearby.
"Looks good~" she would exclaim while kneeling down beside the bundle bag. Smoothly unzipping the bag and emptying it's contents. Stacking the dry wood logs close by the barrel's position, before then pulling out the kindling to start the fire. When she is done, Aroma would wipe away any wood dust upon the fabrics of her pants. Waiting patiently for the barrels to be completely ready for use. So that they could start to fire and cook some ass kicking charcoal to complete their mission.

The two turned around, surprised not to have noticed Aroma, when she walked up. They had just finished punching holes in the bottom of the large steel drum. Katsu was the first to say something, “Hey Roma!” Masaru quickly followed up, “It is Aroma.” Katsu grinned at them both, “Yeah just trying it out.” He shrugged then went to the wood, piling all that he could into the smaller barrel. It was surprising how much he could fit in there, and once he had it packed good and tight, he slid it into the larger barrel upside down.
Masaru had gathered up as much other wood as he could carry and stuffed it into the large barrel around the smaller barrel. Pushing more and more wood in until it was full. There was still a good bit of wood left over from all of Aroma’s hard work, which was good incase they needed to add more as the fire burned. He threw some of the kindling on top and then stepped away grinning at Aroma, “Nice job on the wood, you brought a lot.” Katsu then chimed in, “Would you like the honors” He gestured to the wood that awaited sweet sweet fire.
