A request

“It’s time.” Snow started out of his bedroom window, watching as the sun began to rise above the forests surrounding the village. Small specks of sunlight would tatter his room as the sun fought through the thick trees. He’s been staring at the Hokage’s estate for a few hours now, just visualizing how their meeting was going to go. He was going to walk into the Kage office, eyes focused and heart calm. He would provide his request to the Kage and his deputy. They would look at him with a stern demeanor. They would look him up and down before reminding him the dangers of the world outside the walls Of the village.
Snow wouldn’t of course respond to his Kage and confirm that he knew the life outside the village would be a much more dangerous one. But he was ready and willing to put his life on the line for the sake of the village. He would then hope that his calm and steady demeanor would be enough to convince Yensung and the deputy Kage that they could trust that Snow would do fine outside the village. But only time would tell.
Snow stood to his feet and he readied himself. He got in his signature green outfit, the fabric was scratchy on his outer shirt, but his undershirt was made of silk and cotton. Allowing Snow comfort while wearing his attire. He grabbed his bag and he said good bye to his father.
As he walked through the village, he would play his proposal again and again in his mind. He wanted to make sure that whatever he said was comprehensible and something that the Kages would approve. They would be sending not only one, but two Genin out into the world by themselves with no one to protect them. That is exactly what Snow wanted, he did not want to be protected anymore. He felt like he was just going to become complacent if he stayed within the village, it was time for him to change his life and move in to something greater.
While he did appreciate the village for all the years was allowed to live within its walls. The village failed to protect his mother from being mauled and desecrated by the bastard from Kiri and even less to actually help the Genin in the village to get stronger. They just allowed them free reign and gave them no true purpose for their lives to excel. So because of this, Snow knew that there was a better way to get stronger. A way to become more powerful, but it wasn’t within the safety net of his home village. It would be out there with the rest of the killers and murderers, all the missing Nin and dictators.
Snow didn’t tell his two friends, Asahi and Saizou that their spar that they had the night before, was a lot more than just a friendly bout between friends. It was in fact, an audition. Snow wanted to see which member of his inner circle he could trust to handle himself in battle, and Asahi by far net that quota. While he still had a lot to learn, he knew that that would come in time. But he already had something that could not be taught, a quick mind. While they can improve over time, Snow did not have enough for Sai to improve in that regard and he was going to need someone he could trust to watch his back.
The time cake and he was standing in front of the Hokage estate. He knew the Hokage was a busy man, but Snow still hoped that he would be able to see him to present his request to leave the village and to possibly take Asahi with him. While he hadn’t asked Asahi quite yet, something in Snow’s mind told him that Asahi would say yes to the trip that Snow would offer to him. He walked into the Kage’s estate and he was met by a woman behind a counter. She asked Snow what his business was with the Kage and if he had an appointment to see anyone. Snow simply looked at the woman dead in the eyes and told her no, he was there to see him and was going to do whatever necessary to make that happen. He spoke in a tone that was both serious as it was respectful, letting her know that he was not there to fight, but he was there to talk business with the man in charge.
She informed Snow that he was going to need to set up an appointment if he wanted to see anyone that high on the chain of command, and was going to need a good reason as to why he would be seen. “The Hokage is a very busy man” type of nonsense. Snow nodded his head and thanked her for her time and exited the building. When he left the building he took a quick look at the Hokage estate to see where all of his guards were stationed and located. Once he took that quick note, it was time to climb Hokage rock to analyze their patrols and find the best way for him to infiltrate the Hokage’s office.
A few hours passed by and he found himself the best way in, there was an air conditioning unit on top of the Hokage’s building that was currently removed due to it being repaired, there was a direct opening to the duct system. Snow analyzed the patrols for another half an hour, wanting to make sure that he knew exactly what his route would be to get from where he was, to where that opening was. Finally he had his route down in his mind and he hopped down from Hokage’s rock and began bobbing and weaving through the buildings that stood between him and the Hokage’s estate.
Leaning up against a wall, suppressing his chakra as much as he could, he slowly crawled up the side of the building, being sure to keep his eyes and ears open for any patrols that would be closing in on him at any moment. He reached the top of the building and he made his way over to the duct opening. He walked into the duct and he began checking the outlet of the duct to see if there was a room that seemed like it would be the Hokage’s office. He searched for a few minutes until he finally found one room that was adorned with the leaf village symbol all over it. The best bet he had was that it was supposed to be Hokage's office. He used his weapons of ice technique to pry the duct open as quietly as possible. He checked again and again, ensuring that there wasn’t anyone within the room at the time of his prying.
Finally he had pried enough of the duct work back that he hopped down into the Hokage’s office. He looked around and did not see anyone within the room. Being sure that he was going to be seen as an intruder, because he was an intruder. He hoped that when the Kage entered into the room, he would recognize who he was somehow, even though he couldn’t remember if he had ever seen him before. Snow would find a place for him to sit, other than in the Kage chair, and he would wait for the next person to enter that door into the office.

It was a lot more work. Than he thought. Constantly working without an ceiling felt unusual. Now instead of being a gear. He was not the driving force behind the village. All the small bits and details at his fingertips, and he realized soon as a few days into it the scope of the problems. Most of the kage previously lacked the intel of keeping up to date tabs on what was happening outside of the village.
lord no scouts. Nothing like a proper field report from anbu. Its a wonder why kiri walked up to us. Missing ninja just waltzing in. It was as if there was no direction.they wore the hat and did nothing. Instead an occasional summit between kage, and yes a traitor killed as we all know, but who is to know what is happening now? Kumo issues were only discovered a year ago. And i hate to zay it. No one was hardly qualified to hold a desk job.... man
Yen thought as he leaned back in the kage chair glancing at the paperwork before him. Not once did he see information pertaining to anbu reports, nor scouts. They were blind rats. Only speaking with a puffed chest. But nothing to show. The realization only reminded him of kasai and xyxers words. They needed action, and the ability to gather intel. But they needed to start somewhere.
His meetings took a momentary break as he sat in the office drawing out the initial plans for the future on spare scroll. The genin and chunin needed to be put to work.while sure the missions on occasional theives. These were but petty tasks a police system would solve.
His focus was interrupted that a walk in seemingly vanished. Which was unfortunate. Now he had time to himself as he took out a small board of strange peices as he glanced at the empty board. It was like tge results so far. Genin were not seeking actively ways to grow. His encounter with that pupeteer boy kizaru showed as much. He would be a body that would be chopped up again if he did not develop ways to handle his own self at range. But aside that where was his resolve?
Yen did not know as now it was more important to not send people he could not vett himself. He set a piece down on the board on his side. It was only one but it was a wish. He did not know where the other spaces would be filled with. Just like kinoha did not know what was truly out there.
His thought was not interrupted as the sound of something crawling through the vents was approaching his office. Well he did not need to wait long as the awnser as a boy simply tumbled out. Glzncing at the door.
"You know you should not go and just crawl around the vents. Next time enter the office."
Yen spoke harshly as he was annoyed at this showing. But was amysed a bit. This showed the shinobi were lazy and a rehual was needed.
"What would you like young shinobi?"

He jumped out of the duct work and he landed on the floor within the Kage's office. He looked up and there he was, the Kage of the village. Snow was not entirely sure what he should do, so he decided to walk up to his desk and sit in the chair in front of the Kage's desk. His mind was calm, and his breathe was controlled. While it was true that he was meeting the Kage, the leader of the village for the first time but to Snow, he was just another shinobi.
Just as Snow finished sitting down across the desk of the Kage from the leader himself, the man would speak harshly to Snow. The Snow from a couple months ago would be apologetic, he would take the leader's words to heart and possibly even soften his will and sadden even if only slightly. But that Snow would have never stepped foot in this office, let alone break into it just so he would be able to present his idea to the Kage. As the Kage finished his request for Snow to enter the office through the door next time, Snow would explain the situation briefly. "The lady at the front counter asked if I had an appointment and I didn't have the time to wait. I needed to bring this to you now."
Snow would have the resolve of steel, not wavering in the presence of the leader, but instead, he would feel validated by it. He would lean forward, putting his elbows onto his knees. "I have a request for you, sir. Me and few of my colleagues are growing weary and tired of doing the same thing day in and day out. Grinding out menial missions and training every single day and for what? Menial gains in income and experience? We aren't ready for another invasion, we aren't ready for combat. None of us are. Our people are soft and I know this to be true, as I am sure you know as well." Snow would think about his words as he spoke, as to not keep the leader waiting. He knew that his approval was going to be paramount to his plan.
"I have the desire to serve this village, but more than that. I have the desire to bring some like minded, yet weaker Genin from our village to scour the continent to gather intel for you and our village so we can have a stronger grip on the world around us. Kiri being over us and the rest of the world being ripped apart by greedy power hungry bastards. Us Genin of Konoha have no chance against the far more powerful people in this world. The only thing that stands in my way, is the village gates and your approval."
Snow thought about who he was going to take with him far before he entered the building. There was only a few individuals within the village that he felt were worth the time and effort to bring with him, he had thought about these names for a long time before committing any of them in his mind. "I have already thought of the individuals I would like to have come with me to aid in the scouting and intel gathering. Saizou Uchiha, Asahi Meijin, and Akarui Kotei. These men are individuals that have shown promise in combat with me and I feel they would benefit greatly from the traveling outside of the village."
"If you would approve of such a request, I do ask for a letter that you would like to have delivered to Kirigakure no Sato. This would allow me ease of access to the village, allowing us ease of access to the village and the ability to investigate the area and see what we would be able to find. I know that was a large request, but I feel that this is the only true way we can benefit this village."
Snow would then wait for the response from the leader of the village, hoping that he would accept the request and allow him and the rest of the men to leave post-haste, Lord only knew what it was that they were still rotting away within the village walls.

Another genin desiring to show service, but unlike vergil this boy was neither in the chunin exams nor showed much regard for rules as he lacked the decency to enter the kage office like an normal induvidual. At least go to the window. And he would've shot a web at him sending the boy to his death. Gutsy but dumb.
Yen shifted the board to the boy as he leaned back. Like a traditional chess board with some unusual peices on the table of white, and black. There were two sides multiple squares as he glanced the genin over.
"You have played traditional tactical games right? So pick a peice. Only 1 peice, and tell me why you picked it."
Yen asked the boy as he leaned back and glanced him over quietly curious for his choice and decision. He chose the "king"

Snow was hopeful for an acceptance to his request, but he was instead given an unusual request. He was asked by the Kage, the leader of the village to choose a piece from a chess board and explain his decision as to why he chose it. Snow actually loved the game of chess and he knew his choice the moment the task was given to him. He looked over the board and he grabbed the black knight.
He simply pointed toward the black knight as he began to explain his reasoning as to why he chose the black knight. "The knight is the most useful piece on the board, it's a dangerous as it is versatile. While it can only move in an odd pattern, it is the one piece that most do not see coming. It will be there for you when you are in a tight spot, and it will always be a piece that will open up any combination. While it may seem to be a weak piece by most, I see it as the commanders most valuable asset, except for the King. I do not choose the King however, because while it is the purpose of the game, it's battle capabilities are very much so limited. When used properly the knight can take out any piece of the field, including said king."
He would think for a split second. "While all pieces on the board can do the same thing if played properly, the knight is the only piece that has the ability to be unpredictable in combinations due to its pattern of movement.
Snow would then sit up in his seat and would wait for a response from his Kage.

Yen smiled softly as he heard the boys answer and all of the explanations of the knight. The boy knew his peices well and therefore could follow suite decently.
"Good. So now put yourself in the knights position. Is it wise to always move it unless necessary? If so then place your knight on the end of the board young man, and choose a spot to move. The point being look at zll of these empty spaces. This is like our world. What we know, what we do not know."
Yen pointed out as he placed two pawns of his white color within range of the knight to capture should the young man decide it.
"If a knight is your weapon. Then my tool has always come to be several pawns. Yes they are weak and sacrifical, but they can open positions, and yes hold the potential after careful planning, and some luck. Reach incredible heights. They say a general,is as good as his pawns. While a knight may be unpredictable its violate nature does leave it as a wild card. A bishop is good for denying and yes pinning. While the queen is devistationally powerful."
He explained as he gazed at the boy quietly. For a moment and spoke up.
"I need pawns brave enough to explore the world. Ssfter all we need infomation. So yes you are right missions like these serve no point in the big picture. But you are no knight. Not yet. You must promote. And yes go though the chlenges to reach your point. But the fact you have come to me. Shows me that you have. Done something important."
Yen simply took a pawn, and shifted it two squares from its starting posistion. And pointed to the boy.
"You look like you can see the big picture.so tell me shat will these squares be filled with? What forks could come? And how will we know our rival nations moves? These are all things we will not know untill we try to see into it. But now i do not know your capabilities and if you will be a sacrifice,or a pawn that's pivotal. I do not know you at all. To be vzlue you must show it."

Snow moved the knight like he was asked to the edge of the bird. His Kage then placed two pawn within a striking range of the knight in the board. He explained that the world is full of things that they did not know and talked about how Snow mist prove himself and his value for him to be considered a knight. While Snow agreed with this concept, he saw one flaw in the leaders thinking, and he was going to acknowledge it.
“I understand your point, while I may not be a knight, not as of yet. I see little value in the participating in such menial tasks such as the low rank mission, nor do I see the value of participating in the Chuunin Exams. My reasoning is that they show no value. To be able to conquer an opponent in a controll arena shows nothing. The ability to go into the world and bring back results is the true test of power, the actual test of strength. I’m sure I could take on the likes of Yoi, , Tadashi, Vergil. Whether I win or I lose it proves not that I am of no value, but that losses do happen. Just as if I was to win against my comrade, that only proves that I could best him in that situation.” Snow paused for a second and placed his knight behind the pawns.
“You see pawns are an essential piece of the commanders army on the board. But their bravery more often than not ends in their demise. Bravery and courage are good traits to have, if you have the intellect and the cunning to provide an actual skill set to rely on. Blind bravery is worse than cunning cowardice. Such as the way of a ninja. We are taught the art of stealth and espionage, are we not? Why aren’t we taught solely the way of the sword and only of war? Going into war is courageous. Yet so seldom are they fought. Whereas espionage and deceit are so the tools of us ninja, no matter how young and naive we may be.”
Snow would then look at the board, then up at the Kage, who had chosen the king. “The King, while important, is nearly useless in war. Such as the real world. A general is only as good as his pawns because the general must rely on the pawns for his own survival. By relying on his pawns, he creates himself a crutch. The only decision he would have at that point would be to train his pawns in either fire, or ash. Train them in the fire and they shall harden, train them in the ash and they shall remain the same. They shall remain soft, weak, reliant.”
Snow then eyes the bishop on his side of the table, “Your pawns are weak. While your bishops may come from a generation of violence, being pawns forged in the fire of war. Your pawns now are sitting in the ashes of those wars. They are continuing to weaken, growing more complacent day by day. I refuse to allow that to happen to me, or to those I listed before you. We want to be forged in the flames, and to leave this village is the way to do it. Togo our into the world and gain the knowledge. As knights to their king. For you cannot do it on your own, allow us brave pawns to be your knights. To come back to you with proof of actual strength. So that we may forge others in the fire, allowing us to be the indisputably strong Shinobi that we once were.” Snows eyes would be as hard as steel, never wavering at the sight of his Kage.

Yen listened and enjoyed this genin as he spoke. So he did understand the big point. He had hunger to prove his value and not want to use menial tasks as a benchmark. He wanted results.
now that is the fire i want in a leader. Willing to know he is ready and to dive in the fray. But it is wreckless abanddon if he can temper logic with his longing. He can someday lead. A team
Yen thought as the boy finished.
"We are shinobi. Even as your kage I'm a shinobi at my core. So unlike a king im more a queen. The king young man is our village, our way. Our system our families. But you talk a good game young man, but still words are cheap. I will give you a chance to prove your worth. By results on a special assignment. But unlike thoes missions you have done these will be the real deal. You are serving for the integrity of konoha and its values. If you screw up your punishment is more then walking home with a hung head. You may die and compromise secrets to opposimg nations. It is the duty, and risk of information on not only you,but the others in the village."
This was more to the point as sure the retort was he was trained in the acaddmy. But book teaching isn't experience.
"You feel because you may handle another genin, that a jouninn, or a shinobi with years of experience. The one thing is that fire is a good trial when you are tested. So first goal is if ready. Then i will set a test by dawn of your skills."
