Infiltrating the Bank [Mission solo]
Tue May 05, 2020 12:31 pm
- Mission Info:
- Mission Name: Infiltrate the bank
Rank: A
Type: Infiltration
Character Requirements: Genin Team, Chuunin+
Mission Location: Bank
Word Count Requirements: 4,000
Challenges: Hunter
Repeatable? Yes
NPC?: Yes
Reward: 4,000 Ryo, 8,000 if challenge is complete. 16,000 if the A-rank Hunter NPC is captured alive
Task: A dire situation has broken out in the bank. A banking official has been held captive by rogue shinobi and is being held against his will by a group of high ranking rogue shinobi. A team of well trained shinobi chuunin have surrounded the facility in order to get him back and make sure the criminal doesn't escape. They are at a stand still but they have a plan. A Jounin officer will lead a small infiltration and apprehend the suspects as long the volunteer shinobi follows his order to the letter. If all goes smoothly, they can get the banking official back with minimal casualties.
For the Hunter Challenge to be accepted the mission must possess the tag [Hunter]. If the challenge is accepted you will face off against the leader of the group planning the heist, an A-rank former Anbu of Kirigakure and 2 C-rank Missing Nin. The Anbu is suspected of going rogue shortly after the disappearance of the former Mizukage Xyxer Gyojin. Your end goal is to capture the leader alive to find out everything that he has done since defecting from the village, and to find out how much sensative information has been compromised, and for doing so you will be rewarded handsomely. Killing him is acceptable if there is no other option, but you will lose all bonuses if you are forced to do so. You will receive no additional rewards for capturing the C-rank Missing-Nin alive
Arc’s day starts like any other with him heading to the training facility. It was all work until he could get his strength back. He had developed a morning ritual. Get up before dawn, work until he couldn’t move then rest until he could and go at it once again. This time however as he arrived at the training facility he was greeted by a solemn figure blocking his way. Well he wasn’t blocking it so much as he was standing in front of the door waiting for him. Arc immediately recognized him as the man he met outside the gate that one time.
“I have a mission for you,” he said. He told Arc that it was straight from the mizukage. Time to prove his worth was what the man told him. The man handed him a folder and Arc began to read the dossier. Seems the Mizukage expected him to do a rank A mission right out the gate. Arc didn’t have a problem with that. In fact, he’d prefer something with a bit more of a challenge. The folder Said the incident had started the night before. A group of rogue ninja seemed to be trying to rob the bank or something. Not a lot of information. Not until someone could get on the inside. Seems however that there was a hostage. Someone of fairly high standing in the bank was being held and used to get at whatever it was they needed from the bank.
It was always hard dealing with a situation that involved enemy ninja. Which is likely why this mission rated an A rank. There were too many variables that needed to be accounted for. And Arc had to account for them. Other than a perimeter of other chuunin that were tasked with preventing the criminals from escaping, Arc would have the backup of a single jounin. It was better than nothing but they had no intel on what they would be up against inside the bank. He could be walking into a whole gang of ruthless ninja. Arc had no idea of their powers or capabilities. For all he knew they had a way to summon other members to the inside. None of the intel they had was useful. Which is where Arc had to start. Seems this matter needed to be handled quickly as the criminals had been in the bank for a few hours now. Arc had to go home and get his gear first though. Since time was of the essence Arc used his portals to arrive at home instantly. Gathering his actual katana and his 2 kunai Arc also grabbed a few things that were sitting around the house that could be useful. He grabbed a roll of wire, a roll of tape, and a handful of coins which he put in a soundproof sack. Arc liked to be spontaneous sometimes and rig something off the wall that might take enemies by surprise.
Stepping back through his portal he found himself at the bank. The area seemed deserted and quiet but with a brief scan of the area he noticed a single Chunin obscured almost completely standing watch. Arc was sure the entire building was under surveillance like this. Which meant… Suddenly a ninja appeared at his side. “Are you Arcanis? We’ve been expecting you.” Arc held up his hand to stop the man. He knew it might seem rude but Arc was cautious. “What was the 23rd word of the mission dossier?” Arc asked quietly as he continued to scan the Bank. Arc knew that anyone on this mission would have memorized that mission log top to bottom. “Held.” came the answer and that satisfied Arcanis. “What is the angle of entry?” Arc asked keeping things brief and to the point. “Well there i'll be 2 angles actually. You will enter from the roof while I enter from ground level. Memorize this set of signals so we can communicate without speaking.” He was handed a folder of some common hand signals, a few he didn’t know which was likely due to being a village specific signal. There were many other signals but auditory and not that arc quickly memorized. “Next is the floor plan of the bank. This contains air ducts and security codes should you need them for the mission. These codes will change but for now this will get you through the bank unnoticed. Our plan of attack is to assess the threat and then get out. As soon as that is done if we did not raise any alarms with our hostels we will quickly devise an attack plan. Obviously speed and subtlety is our aim.”
Arc nodded and the two of them burst into action. Arc and the jounin went separate ways. Arc went around the building quickly assessing lines of view from any and all windows from the inside. If the hostiles had any sight jutsu it didn’t matter, they would know they were already on the way. The mission would turn bad regardless of what he did. So he started to blindspots and silently scaled the building. On the roof as the layout suggested was a locked door. This wasn’t a problem for Arc at all a moment later he was on the other side of the door, the door still being locked from the outside. Arc slipped down the stairs that lead up to the roof and found himself in a long hallway. Arc looked up to his right and found the entrance to the air ducts that he was expecting. He knew he only had a few minutes to get out of sight. The entrances to the building were likely being patrolled. Stepping into another portal Arc was then in the air ducts. They were plenty large enough for him to stand comfortably.
After a few minutes of twists and turns looking out the sirvents into empty rooms Arc heard a voice coming from a room up ahead. Making no sound as usual he krept up to the opening and peered around the corner. “Man if this works we are going to be rich and out of here scott free.” came a voice from the other room. “To think that the boss came up with this plan so easily. These stupid ninja banks are all high and mighty thinking they can do whatever because they are guarded by ninja.” The man sounded like an idiot, but that wasn’t any of Arcanis’ business. He had found when trying to out think an opponent if he assumed they were brilliant He would never underestimate his opponents. He knew he was dealing with at least 3 hostiles. Arc slipped out of the air vent silently using his portals. And crouched behind a counter. He paid close attention to the men's movements. As the men walked through the room Arc slowly and quietly moved with them ducking and weaving behind boxes and counters. The mission was going smoothly so far but he had a few more floors before he met up with his leader. The two hostile men who had been talking moved on to another room and Arc chose to descend the stairs. It was clear at this point that the men he was following were sent specifically to patrol the top level. Arc didn’t like that. If there were 2 people guarding the roof access, there were likely several hostiles in the building, and his job would only get harder.
Slipping into the stair well He waited and slowed his breathing just listening to the sounds in the long climb down to the first floor. He wanted to make sure he was alone before descending. After a moment of holding his breath, Arc was certain no one else was in the stairwell and he began to climb down one story. He had to check every level to make sure to have an accurate count of his foes. On the next level down Arc was almost discovered as he came out of the stairwell. Another sentry walked by patrolling the perimeter of his territory. Luckily this corner of the room was dimly lit and it gave arc a moment to substitute to the other side of the room before the man did a double take. When he had looked again he saw just some boxes and clutter. Arc watched him carefully. The man was weary and prepared. He was checking corners and sounds that he heard. He didn’t seem confident though. He actually seemed quite nervous. It was likely that he was solely responsible for this floor. Arc left the room quickly and stayed ahead of the man. Exploring the floor Arc found nothing much of use until the last room he was in the found was a storage closet. He remembered from the schematics that this closet was highly secured needing a password on an electronic plate. Typing in the password quickly Arc stepped into a safe room full of weapons and gear.
This would be his check point. It was designed as a safe room but it seemed none of the employees had made it this far. At least Arc had not come across any bodies so far. This was good because if the men in here started actually killing hostages it would immediately signal Arc to retreat and suggest a full scale storm of the building. But it hadn’t come to that. Arc closed the door to the safe room behind him. He filled his weapon pouch with kunai and shuriken. He made note what he was taking so he could return the supplies when he was done here. Arc thought carefully and slipped through a portal from this room into one a few rooms back that had access to a multi floor air duct. He slid in through a portal and used chakra to stick to the vertical shaft as he made his way down another floor. On this floor Arc looked out of the great and didn’t see anyone. From what he could remember this floor seemed like it was laid out primarily for office work and held little value to the intruders. While scouting around a bit on this floor Arc found he was right on the money. There were several office spaces in the area and no patrols at all on this floor. Arc took the opportunity to set up a couple traps using the wire and kunai he had borrowed from the room upstairs. The traps were simple and quick to set up; he used the wire to set up a simple trip wire that would release a couple artificial plants to spring back, throwing the kunai in several directions. The goal of this was not to kill but to cause a distraction. In this line of work you couldn’t afford to be distracted and Arc knew if it came to it he could back track up here and hope to catch the enemy off guard.
Arc had another thing going for him. He looked young. People who look young are expected to be inexperienced. Outside of his current level of agitating weakness, there was something Arcanis was not. He had more experience than any other being he had encountered in his life. He still hadn’t let anyone know but he was quite old. He had seen many worlds and had witnessed the response most people made to surprises. He could still act as though he were young and naive though. He moved carefully over to the next stairwell. He had almost finished his reconnaissance. He should meet his jounin leader on the next floor down. Creeping down the stairs Arc felt himself practicing facial expressions. He wasn’t maladjusted; he felt emotions just like anyone else, but over the years he had just restricted himself from demonstrating those emotions on the outside. He would be happy to let his face turn to stone if it didn’t give those around him a unease. He needed to keep people happy around him. Content people don’t pry. His facial features though were very controlled. People saw the emotions he wanted them to see. He had long ago mastered this art as well as the ability to control the speed of his heart beat. It was an exercise in regulating his body and his emotions. Fine control was the key to mastering the self. The stairs descended taking him to the final floor.
Listening intently Arc heard nothing on the other side of the door. He opened it a crack and peered in. The floor was pitch black. Arc opened his dojutsu and stepped through. Using his ocular jutsu he was able to become finely aware of the space around him. Though he could not actually see in the dark he knew where objects were taking up space. It allowed him to quickly navigate the area. This floor was dedicated to security. There were several storage closets like the one on the floor above. Additionally there were monitors and security devices that were meant to keep the Bank safe. All of them were dead and offline. Not a single tiny light blipped on the entire floor. And due to the lack of windows on this floor gave Arc a pretty good idea that this floor being down was engineered by the hostile ninja. This was not good . See if a floor in the middle of the building could be targeted to prevent knowledge of invasion it meant two things. One: the enemy had in depth knowledge of the building layout. Additionally they had a way to take out a complicated system from the outside. And for what Arc knew of Kiri was that its security was not a joke. Which means the infiltrator had to be of at least jounin level if not higher. Which meant there is a chance that him and his leader might have a hard time with this particular foe. Arc still wasn’t sure what abilities his opponents had but he needed to investigate. The peons that were patrolling the upper floors were meaningless. Arc could take them out whenever he needed to. Arc moved to the position that he had already set with his team mate to meet at. After a few minutes Arc got worried. A short sharp chakra signal came from the floors below. It signaled that there was a problem and to get out. Due to the nature of the chakra blast, anyone with the ability to sense chakra got that signal. Arc had to move but he had to choose his movement. He has only a fraction of a second… Fortunately for Arc he was adept with time jutsu. Arc closed his mind off from the natural flow of time allowing him to stop and think as long as he would need to. This skill had given him an edge to evaluating many variables in a small amount of time but it didn’t give him any ability to react or move any faster. Just think faster. The chakra code was obviously from his jounin partner. It was the code to retreat. But it would only have been sent if he was in trouble as it was a signal that could be picked up by the enemy. Which means his cover was blown. Arc's cover was still intact. However, they would be expecting that someone was receiving that signal. Even if they couldn’t decipher the signal they would know it was being sent and they could make a guess. The problem Arc was having was the fact that the invaders had intricate knowledge of a village secret, namely the layout of the bank. Which meant they might also have knowledge of the village signals. However risking the signal his partner might not recognize the intruder as a village ninja. This left a hole. The hole was The ability of the hostiles. Either as a group or individual capable of doing all this. The key to the mystery had something to do with the Security system. But it wasn’t just the security system. All the lights on just this floor were affected. The electricity? Was the intruder adept with lightning release? Arc returned to real time and quickly reached out with his senses and his lightning element trying to connect with the energy in the walls. That’s when he felt it. The presence was all around him. It was subtle. Baked into the electrical circuits themselves. ‘BAD’ Arc teleported back up to the roof.
He had tripped the conscience of whoever was controlling the power grid of the building. He had run into this kind of power before in other worlds. Worlds that relied more entirely on a single connected power grid. This wasn’t as bad but he had seen what a power like this could do. The building would be a single massive trap, controlled exclusively by his opponent. His silly traps in the other room wouldn’t amount to much. Arc did relieve his fears with the fact that the man must not have been too adept with the power as he was not capable of monitoring the entire building entirely. Something that he knew was possible. But if he was he would have found Arc immediately. Arc felt a surge of energy a few floors below him where he had just come from. A lightning style. It had to have used the wiring in the building as a conduit. Luckily it seemed his adversary had a slow response time. Even if he had a powerful ability and from what he could tell some serious chakra pressure. He was slow. Arc had to use that to save the day. Unfortunately he didn’t have a clear view of the lower floors which meant he was only going to be able to be in the building for short bursts and he had very little time before he would risk the hostages which now included his commanding officer. Arc stepped through a portal to the first floor down spotting the two idiots who were patrolling. Swiping at the first ones feet with a leg sweep he knocked him to the floor and blocked the attack from the second as he became unstunned by the sudden appearance of the enemy. They were unfamiliar with combat. Which was good. Gripping the attacking arm of the second enemy arc swung his leg up and over the man’s head snapping it back quickly kicking the man in the head while yanking on the man’s arm doubling the attack power of his kick. He was out cold before hitting the ground. Arc sent a pulse of chakra into a nearby outlet before porting back to the rof. The pulse received the expected result. The whole floor was hit by lightning jutsu. Incapacitating the other attacker.
One floor down, Arc portaled back to the floor with the timid sentry. Something had changed in his demeanor though. He was ready when the arc showed up. His eyes had a red color and Arc realised he was now facing one of the most powerful kekkei genkai in this world. The sharingan in the boys eyes had a single tomoe. Which started to rotate.
Arc was not well liked growing up. He had been mean and distant with the other kids. He felt set apart like he was better than them. He came from a clan that had the responsibility to protect the world's timeline. They pretty much made sure that there was always a future. His family had teams that would go to the future to make sure the world was still intact. If something went wrong they would return and fix the event that led to a future of destruction. But they did not lead the world to their desires. As long as the future was there it would be allowed. Arc being a young upstart he felt above the others. His family decided whether or not they would live. But once Arc was left all alone by the death of his parents, and his clan, Arc had taken up the role of traveler. But when he saw what he could do and what the responsibility he had to the kids and their families and the whole world he had changed all that. Seeing the kids laugh and make fun of him, Arc knew that this was not the past that was so long ago. The kids being mean, the adults reprimanding him in front of his eyes faded away with a simple genjutsu release.
“What are you?” Arc was looking into the eyes of the young potential Uchiha. Arc moved but the young man moved right along with him. They both exchanged blows and blocked, neither scoring a victory blow. The Sharingan user jumped back and did a few hand signs. “Fire style - Fireball jutsu” The flame erupted from the ninjas mouth. Arc at the same time did his own hand seals. “Water style - Water Wall” The pipes in the walls burst and the entire area was drenched in water and the fireball was dissipated creating a thick cloud of steam in the area. Arc stepped through the mist and placed his right hand on the man’s left shoulder. “You have a lot of potential but this is not how you will succeed in this world. If you constantly go against the people around you you will find someone you can not beat. They will end up ending your forward progress. Your potential is too great to be giving it all away to someone who will discard you at the end.” The man's right hand thrust a kunai at Arc’s face. Sighing arc leaned his head to the left and pivoted on his left foot. Gripping the young man's shoulder and with his momentum being thrown over Arcs right shoulder he simply lifted the young man up and literally threw him to the ground. He opened a portal and the man landed at the feet of the chunin outside unconscious.
Arc stood up over the boy looking down at him for only a moment. He then turned and looked up at the building. He now had to deal with the biggest hurdle. The ninja left in the building had hostages and would be ridiculously strong. But he had yet to meet Arc. Setting his eyes in what he knew would be a look of determination, Arc was inside the building again. He ran forward from the first floor lobby. Paying close attention to the flow of chakra around him. He felt a sudden surge so he quickly portaled into the upstairs closet. Grabbing a couple paper bomb tags, arc flashed back to where he was to continue his movement. He knew his opponent would need to be more cautious from now on to conserve his energy. Big attacks like this weren’t connecting so it was just a waste of energy at this point. He knew what he would see as soon as he entered the room. Both his leader and the bank official were unconscious bound by a lightning style jutsu.
The thing was the Enemy didn’t know what Arc could do. His ability to manipulate time and space was something that put him head and shoulders above his peers. But the system labeled him a chunin because of his mission record. And because of his seemingly young age Arc was certain his opponent would underestimate him. Case in point he let Arc see his target. “Don’t you move or these two die!” the man said not realizing he was already wrong. A portal opened underneath the two hostages. They would find themselves out by the medical tent set up by the response team outside. As the portal snapped shut the man would be aware of the missing hostages as his jutsu ended.
“New arrangement. Turn yourself in. You are surrounded and now don’t have hostages. You are strong I admit but you won’t be able to lay a finger on me. And I just have to distract you long enough to have backup arrive. Which will be any minute now due to your lack of hostages.” Arc knew he had won. The man dropped his fighting stance. A moment later he was surrounded and restrained. He would be taken with the 3 other ninja to prison, and that would be all Arc had to do with them. He returned to the mission offices to claim his reward. It was the first A rank mission he had done in a while but he knew it was going to be commonplace now that he was here in Kirigakure. He would soon be rising the ranks and taking on more missions like this one.
