Monitor the Bank ( Mission )

Mission Info:

Not every mission as a shinobi was glorified. No, sometimes it was mind bogglingly boring, and thus was the case today as he found himself standing above the bank area and looking out among the various people coming and going in and out of the bank. He sighed and kept his eyes peeled as he watched the people. Most of them were simply making withdrawals or deposits. Some noticed someone they knew and had extremely tedious and boring conversations. Others grew angry at the amount of money they had available as if it was somehow the banks fault they spent all of their Ryo. He found himself growing to resent the common man and he did not quite like how it made him feel.

None the less he was supposed to walk around and show that the bank had the support of the Kirigakure shinobi and so he turned on his heel and walked down the stairs out into the open. They would recognize him as a shinobi as he wore the Kirigakure shinobi headband loosely around his neck. It was uncomfortable strapped to his head so he preferred to have it hang off of his neck. Most people barely noticed him, but the ones that did, they nodded at him and grew somewhat stiff as if he was going to apprehend or scold them for some reason. It was one of the things about being a shinobi that was odd to him. People did not understand how to react in their presence.

None the less he did his rounds and he eye balled the clock at the top of the building and noticed that his replacement should be arriving shortly. That was great news as he was getting quite bored. One would think that he would be able to simply sit at the top and pretend to watch while reading. Who would be foolish enough to attack one of the most prominent village banks in all the land? Well, that was exactly the type of thinking that got a place robbed. Even though some shinobi were lazy, that was not who he was, and he took things seriously always. He had to. He was not skilled enough to be lazy and he was nowhere near where he wanted to be as a ninja…. Not yet.

After his rounds he moved back to his designated area and stood with his arms crossed, eyes constantly alert to any suspicious signs. It appeared, however, that it was going to be another uneventful day. Some would call it easy Ryo but Furozan wished he was doing something more. More to help further his cause and who he was as a person. There was something missing inside of him, but, try as he might he could not figure out exactly what was missing. He just knew he needed something more and he would continue his quest until he figured out what it was. Until then, he would wait until his replacement arrived, and then he figured he would go home and finish reading his book.

Furozan looks so serious, and it's adorable. It's hard to believe he's seventeen. The genin fits right in with the preteen graduates.

Mino has been shadowing him for... oh, approximately an hour. Not closely, of course - she has been maintaining a transformation technique, assuming the form of a silver-haired, portly male teller at a closed booth. Under the guise of bank work, she is taking some time before her mission shift to take on some personal work and keep an eye on the new blood.

"...this booth is closed, sir," she says to a man who has approached, tilting her head towards the prominently-displayed sign. He grunts in irritation about his time being wasted. Mino decides that she has tired of even vague proximity to customer service and collects her things. She gives a brief wave towards the bank's owner, and her assumed form vanishes into the employee areas... for her true self to promptly step out of a side door and into the lobby, a willowy and wavy-haired middle-aged woman, clad in her chunin flak jacket, brown turtleneck, and navy pants. She approaches Furozan in the lobby, ten minutes early, a scroll under her arm, and a cool, appraising look in her eye.

It's not a particularly subtle transition, but that's alright. if he picks up on it, he gets to feel smarter than her, which is nice feeling to grant to the children from time to time.

"Yuki," she greets. "Serviceable work, overall. I would recommend more small talk with the staff."

His eyes grew lazy as he began to gaze around the office he was in. The mundane work of the bank was driving him a little crazy. Nothing was happening and it was the same thing over and over again. People came in and people went out. He wished they did not have to guard it but it made sense. It was where they kept all of the ryo for the village and thus was a prime target for any ill will. But still…. It was terribly boring. 

His eyes gleaned over to one of the tellers who was finishing up their shift and he watched as they took everything into the employee area. Multiple people did this throughout the day so it was nothing outrageous but he still kept his eyes on them just in case someone decided to accost them. Once they were inside he looked away and let out a sigh as he looked back out over the lobby. 

A few moments later he noticed someone with a Chunin vest approaching him. He guessed this was his replacement? She spoke to him and acted as if she had been observing him and a look of curiosity overcame his face. “You were watching?” He inquired after her and feeling a bit let down that he had not noticed someone was watching over him. If it had been an enemy shinobi he would have had the jump on him. He huffed and then remarked back about how he should interact more with the staff. “Conversation could result in me missing something important. If I am busy speaking with someone then it could be the difference between succeeding or failing in my mission.”

"...you did miss something," Mino says, gesturing to herself, faintly amused. This sort of reaction from a more experienced shinobi would make her angry, but from a genin it is just somewhat cute. That does mean it is in everybody's best interests for him to learn now. Next time it will be less cute.

"Gathering intelligence from other people is a critical skill, particularly when those people are more familiar with the terrain than you are," she says. "Any of the staff here would have clued you in on there being two shinobi in the bank today. They also have quite a lot of experience with spotting suspicious behavior - which they should be approaching you with if they spot it, yes, but as I am sure you have noticed..." the people milling around them are giving them a respectful berth as they converse in the lobby, as they have given to Furozan for the duration of his shift, "Shinobi can be intimidating. It is our job to minimize that fear in our allies so that information can flow freely. Not that I believe you have scared any of the tellers today, of course," she says, a wry smile tugging at the corner of her mouth. She hopes that her advice sticks. The fewer shinobi that consider themselves islands apart from the normal people of the village, the better.

"You'll learn how to do that without compromising your awareness of the situation. It comes with experience. Anyways," Mino says, drawing the scroll from under her arm, "I have some security seals to take a look at. You are dismissed, Yuki."
