Dance In The Dark - [Spar P Ken/Mizu]
Mon Sep 21, 2020 9:47 pm
Since the day of her transplants she had been training privately and tirelessly in her expansive backyard - her home having been completed in its remodel for a few weeks now. She had made certain she was as isolated as she could be while still being within the walls of Sunagakure. This was the case for many reasons actually; the most obvious being her past as an assassin having bred a desire to stay alone, but the less known one was her nightly nightmares… where she woke up screaming. Something about living next to a screaming banshee every night didn’t strike Mizu as an appealing trait to have as a neighbor. Thus her fortress of reinforced concrete to hold in the sound and to withstand her strikes - training or otherwise. The building was a personification of her own soul if one were to pay attention, hard and resilient on the outside but the inside had spots of color, textures everywhere, and a warm feeling with the natural wood she had running through the cold concrete - exposed beam work, hardwood flooring running the entire length of the home, really anywhere there could be warm cherry wood there was. The home was her most treasured place in the village beside the Willow in the Grove - no one had been inside and she planned on keeping it that way; her own sanctuary.
Tonight though… she had been requested to leave her sanctuary and meet at midnight at the farthest placed training ground the village had to offer - the 10th. Clear across the village and as far removed from the village’s infrastructure as possible, this training ground was as remote as one could get while remaining in the village… same coin, different face. As it was nearing their determined time she would head out, wearing her normal attire and carrying her normal weaponry; Mizu made quick work of the trip, her heightened sight at night bringing no hindrance to her silent footfalls on rooftops as she sped along at top speed - only her hair made the faintest swishing noise as she raced to her destination.
Her footfalls slowed only slightly as she neared the training grounds, using this moment to take in the layout - this was a diverse landscape, a river ran through the center of the grounds, there were rolling mountain-esque hills in the background and a few thickets of trees placed around the banks, overall even ground in terms of terrain as well as most was covered with a packed down dirt or grass/bushes'. Open and with a workable water source… advantages to both parties involved in this still unknown training session. Finally as she had taken in what she could of the area she would come to a stop near the far side bank of the river and stare down into the light shimmering waters surface- the porcelain face that stared back outshone the waning moon overhead by miles. While she waited she stretched her sensory abilities to their limits as she listening and ‘felt’ for Kenshin’s arrival.

The larger than life form of Kenshin could be seen standing on the balcony of The Spire within the heart of Sunagakure, overlooking the bustling village that had sprouted from the ruins of the former village with a small smile on his face. The moon was high in the sky and the night itself was quite cool… and tonight was the night that The Reaper had been looking forward to for roughly a week now… Mizuki had received her transplants, and would be waiting for him within the 10th Training Ground for some ‘lessons’. The 10th was a special training ground, restricted to all save the Jounin and Anbu of the village, and the training ground that he personally preferred training in… and it was his training that had turned it into what it was now. The lake that ran through the center, the thickets of trees that existed on the outside, even the lush and fertile earth that existed there… it was very similar to The Grove, and that was to be expected, as it was the location where he had initially learned what he had put into practice around The Spire.
He was keeping his eyes on the moon and tracking the chakra signature of Mizuki as she made her way towards the training grounds, and with a small smirk on his face The Ragdoll would seemingly merge with the balcony of The Spire, and at speeds far faster than most would be able to comprehend he would arrive at the position of Mizuki, who in turn had just arrived in the training grounds. The Kazekage would put 5m between the two of them and begin to reform himself, being sure to do so directly behind her as she stared at her own reflection. When he was completely reformed he would lightly brush the nonexistent dirt from his black robe, smirking lightly as he looked towards the form of Mizuki, making absolutely no effort to suppress the chakra that he knew she would have felt by now.
“Good evening Mizuki, I’m pleased to see you here… it truly is a gorgeous night isn’t it, not too hot yet not too cold, the moon shining down overhead… what more could one ask for.” The Mad Medic would say with a soft smile on his face, looking up into the sky and focussing on the form of the moon, which was bathing the entire training ground in its ethereal light.
“I asked you to meet me here for some private training, so that I could teach you how to make the most of the gifts you received from me last week… but before that, I wish to see YOU in action my dear… and for that, you and I will be having a friendly spar.” The Ragdoll would say, his smirk growing larger as he spoke.
“I want to see just how powerful you have grown… don’t hold anything back, I assure you I can handle quite a bit of punishment.” He would then say, finishing up by closing his eyes and breathing deeply, before opening them and revealing their active forms. His Transcended Sharingan spinning slowly in his left, and the featureless white of the Byakugan seemingly looking through her in his right.
“Come at me Mizuki… show me everything you have, and prove to me that you have what it takes to surpass me!”

Her back straightened instinctively as the chakra signature suddenly was noted at such a close range, making her spin quickly to face the emerging form of Kenshin - She greatly disliked when he did that, as if he was with her just under the ground at any and all moments. She would return the smile hesitantly as she looked around, taking note of the evening air and wondering once more why they were out here at such a specific time … Private training was one thing but this felt like a … stage… The thoughts weren’t forming fast enough as his words began to sink in - a … spar? He was only 5 meters away from her but the space suddenly felt claustrophobic, the details of his face were too clear as she watched the familiar eyes close and reopen… one with a white featureless Byakugan and the other… the other with a slowly spinning - She averted her eyes instantly as her heartbeat spiked at the rush of memory. Goosebumps were rising over her arms even as the night held no chill - her body was tight and rigid as she stared at his throat, his final words… a challenge.
She took a deep breath and forced her body to relax and become more fluid while her senses stretched out to their max potential at their 5 meter limit around her - her hearing would have to be her eyes until she managed to get rid of that sight - this shift in her psyche would come in an instant; ever the master of her own emotions. He wanted to see everything… well *she* wanted to see everything… what had she become after all this time?
Mizuki would immediately release a Blast Wave of fire that would start an inch from her form and explode out to a max of 15 meters at 75 speed and power - If successful the flames would not only cause painful burns but would push the target back with concussive force at 75 power out to the jutsu’s max range. Right as the flames were 2 meters out she had the Clone hand seal done and two puffs of smoke exploded directly on either side of her both enclosed safely within the circle of flames. One began weaving a set of handseals at full speed: Ox→ Rat → Dog → Horse → Monkey → Boar → Tiger → Dragon, While the second clone would activate chakra chains allowing 3 chains to spring out from her body at a size of 1x1 inch thick links, poised to strike at 80 speed and power - just as the flames reached the edges of its range the area would be blanketed with a burning chakra infused ash cloud that would expand to 30 meters at 80 speed and power. If caught in the cloud the burns would be debilitating and every inch affected would be burned to a point that movement would be much harder to achieve. The clone once finished with the jutsu would become poised in a protective manner prepared to strike out at any oncoming attacks and the original would keep one hand ready for quick handseals while holding her knife like hand ready to strike.
All the while the three would be listening intently for the heartbeats that were sure to come...

Kenshin would watch Mizuki slowly shift as his words sunk in to her, the woman instantly becoming tense and averting her eyes from his, and he would simply watch and wait as she slowly took a deep breath… her tenseness fading and her body coiling. He would smirk as an explosion of flame seemingly engulfed her form… so she had chosen to start with Blast Wave, no doubt in an effort to force some distance between the two of them… a smart opening move. Hmm… he could simply overpower her technique with a higher ranked Water Release technique… but that didn’t feel like the correct move. When the wave reached 2m from her current position Kenshin would watch as she formed 2 Shadow Clones, and each clone would instantly move into action. The first starting to perform a set of familiar handseals, while the second began to form the infamous Uzumaki Chakra Chains… oh how she had grown. With a small smirk Kenshin would activate his Assimilating Aura, the protective jutsu effortlessly devouring the flames that would have otherwise devoured him, and with a smirk he would eye the rapidly expanding cloud of ash… his Byakugan still allowing him to keep an eye on Mizuki and her clones.
The Ragdoll would lift his right hand and aim it towards the clone that had formed the Uzumaki Chains, and in an instant a 1m long blade of chakra would form around his hand… and with a small burst of chakra, that blade would begin to rapidly expand, aimed directly at what would end up being the heart of the clone. Regardless of whether this worked or not the blade would continue to extend until it was 15m in overall length, where he would deactivate it.
Overall he didn’t have much hope that this would actually take out the clone itself… but it would be a good test of how quickly Mizuki was able to react to an attack like this, as well as see what her reaction to it would be.

Thump.Thump.Thump - The clone that held the Chains at the ready stared with perfect precision at the spot that held the cacophony of heartbeats, unmoved from the original position before the onslaught. The other two would also pinpoint Kenshin's location and without a second's hesitation... Mizuki would know; Assimilating Aura. For whatever reason he didn’t want to move from his spot.. There was nothing special about it and she had seen him move in combat before when the two had taken the cooler for a drop off but… - the original narrowed her eyes in realization - either he was holding back a lot against her, or she had grown to a level that if he moved it would tip his hand. One way to find out..
With the added benefit of understanding how a technique like Assimilating Aura worked she had come to work out how to overpower it - her Book of Mirrors would show as much as she had crossed out countless ideas until she was able to settle on this. From the second she realized he was using that technique the clone not holding the chains had begun the long string of handsigns to amplify her next jutsu while simultaneously dropping Hiding in Ash - no point in keeping a technique going that did nothing for her - at top speed the clone flew through Horse → Dog → Ram → Dragon → Tiger → Snake → Horse and instantly moved into Horse → Dog → Ram → Dragon → Tiger → Snake. While the clone moved through these handseals at 100 speed the clone holding the Uzumaki chains would shift her weight quickly to her back foot, reacting at 130 speed and causing her torso to twist out of the way of the - would be - direct hit. As soon as her back foot hit the ground she lurched into a crouched position, avoiding the still expanding chakra spear, and took off for the now visible form of Kenshin. The chains that originated on her back expanded out around her to aid in her mobility if he were to make a move in her direction, essentially making her omnidirectional if need be - but for now this clone was headed at blurring speeds - claws out at their full 4 inch length and ready to slash at any skin she was able to reach.
As the clone dodged the attack, and just before taking off, the jutsu being prepared by the other clone would be finished and a thin stream of fire would expand forward at 110 speed and explode into a wall of flames 25 meters tall and wide - slamming into the stationary Uzumaki at 120 power. Since the jutsu moved faster than the chain clone there would be no worry of running into it, simply following the flames as she followed the cacophony of heartbeats that betrayed his position. As if this wasn’t assault enough, the original had been flying through her own handseals once the chakra spear had invaded their triangulated stance - Boar -> Tiger -> Ox -> Dragon ->Monkey -> Bird and chooses a meter to the back left of Kenshin as the origin to the murky swamp that would form at a speed of 80 and hold power of the same - spreading outwards to a full size of 10 meters. The clone that was headed in his direction was coming in from Kenshin’s right side so as to avoid and possibly push the man back into the spreading jutsu.

The Ragdoll had every intention of having the spear extend to its maximum range, but as the clone he was not targeting began to form a very familiar set of handseals, and the clone that he was targeting almost danced out of the path of his attack, he knew that doing so would likely result in his loss… she was a lot faster than he had been anticipating, and that alone made this fight a lot harder. Right as the clone finished with the first set of handseals The Reaper would completely deactivate the Chakra Scalpel: Lancet and move to form his own set of seven handseals, knowing full well that in his current form any enhanced jutsu would overpower his Assimilating Aura without any trouble. Perhaps if he had been in his Sage Mode this would not be an issue… but hindsight is 20/20.
The second clone would be finished with its handseals in the time that it took him to form 4, something that would only go to show the speed difference between the two, but as the flames began to cross the distance he would finish his seals, causing a blue shroud of chakra to coat his body. He wasn’t worried as the veritable wall of flames slammed into his shroud, as it would quickly weaken the jutsu down to levels that his Assimilating Aura could handle… but it was then that he noticed Mizuki herself performing another familiar set of seals. What a smart woman… plans within plans, just in case he was still able to handle her assault. Unfortunately his Assimilating Aura would be able to devour this one as well… but still, he would likely have lost this fight already if it wasn’t for his favourite defense. She was quite dangerous, more than he had given her credit for… and far more than she would ever give herself credit for.
Whilst still within the flames Kenshin would begin to go through another set of handseals, this time mirroring the seals that the clone had made to empower her jutsu, before seamlessly going into a new set of 5, and should he manage to perform all these seals he would slam his hands to the ground and pour his Fire Release chakra directly into the earth, unseen to Mizuki and her clones. The Fire Chakra would take the form of a web of blistering flames that would spread outwards in front of him, his Byakugan able to see the flames knit themselves into an extremely finely woven web of flames 0.5m beneath the surface of the ground. The Swamp would have started to form behind him already, and would have been nullified by his Assimilating Aura as he slammed his hands into the ground. Mizuki and her clone were still 5m from his position, while her chain wielding clone had come closer still... avoiding the flames that were 'consuming' him though. He was using this to his advantage of course, he wouldn't have been able to do any of what he had without the shield of flames that Mizuki had provided him with... but unfortunately the pressure that she was placing upon him was not allowing him to do much. He was in quite the pickle right now... his main defence was far weaker than he wanted, and she wasn't allowing him to refresh it... and his secondary defense had just been used... and now he had been forced to amplify a technique that he usually wouldn't have bothered.
The Ragdoll would continue to observe Mizuki herself, as well as the clones, and watch for their next move. His own next move would be dependant on what his opponents decided to do. He would need to make a move soon... so far she had been dictating the flow of this fight and as such he was in a very unfavorable position.

As the chain wielding clone neared his position the original and second clone held fast to release the two jutsu she had active - The swamp to impede his retreat backwards and the wall of overpowered fire to hold his assault if he were to ever move from his spot. It was odd for someone with such power as he had to stay rooted in place but he clearly had his reasons - plus it seemed he had another defensive trick up his sleeve, another way to avoid her jutsu and stay rooted to his spot as if showing her with plain authority that she had no power over his motion.
No matter… the moment she was in range to hear those heartbeats again she had him in her sights once more and she would activate a technique that no one else had seen yet. In the time it took to release her breath her form was changed - hands up to her forearms blackened, skin translucent and eyes blood red and ringed in black. All three chakra chains would spread out to ground her as her foot hit the ground and rocketed her at his exact location; like a bullet shot from a chamber she moved at 180 speed and with utmost accuracy - even if he chose to shoot her spot up in flames she would be long gone from the spot he had chosen. The original and clone released their respective jutsu at the exact moment her foot hit the ground, leaving the area ahead of her completely free of harm save for her target.
If he was unable to dodge her as she was now less than 5 meters away when she moved into her final assault - Assimilating Aura had one fatal flaw she had found as she poured over it; Physical attacks. Mizuki was the last to find herself launching any physical attacks but the defense he had in place was deeply invested in staving off Ninjutsu attacks so would he expect this? It was barely a few seconds until the claws of her right hand were sunk deep into his chest, her knees coming up to land firmly on his upper arms to pin him down on the ground as the force of launching into him slammed him to the ground. If that wasn’t enough the chakra chains poised around the two of them and just outside of the jutsu range ready to strike or move her out of the way - but she had one final trick to ensure that if he continued the fight he would at a greater disadvantage; as his form slammed into the ground her free hand would come up to his throat and place the Five Elements Seal, ensuring any other jutsu cast at her would be greatly reduced in power as well as his ability to withstand further assault.
Kneeling on him, her claws still sunk into chest as an anchor point, she would remove her other hand and stare down at the seal, stark black against the man's pale skin - she would not attempt to move away, for if she needed to it would be at the speed of thought but somehow… she felt this was a good stopping point. The clone and original were watching, they too were ready and waiting for additional activity but until Kenshin reacted or said anything - as the two were now close enough to speak - she would wait.

The Ragdoll, still standing within the flames of Mizuki’s Great Fire Annihilation, would watch with his Byakugan as the clone of his chosen changed… her chakra becoming far more potent in an instant and her body undergoing a slight transformation. He would simply give a sardonic smirk… there was no winning this at this point, his Assimilating Aura was far too weak to be of use, his own enhancement wouldn’t allow him to handle the speed of hers, and his amplifier had already been used. Things would certainly have been different if he had allowed himself to use more of his S-rank techniques, but he wanted this to be a fair fight… he didn’t want to simply steamroll her with a plethora of techniques that she would be unable to truly counter or fight. That wouldn’t be a fight, not a true one… that would simply have been him showing his power off against someone who couldn’t truly handle that… not yet at least.
But, that isn’t to say that he wasn’t taking this fight seriously. He had given himself limits yes… but he was giving his all within those limits, and Mizuki had completely demolished all of his expectations, to the point that she had kept him on the back foot through the entire fight, not allowing him to gain any momentum. The Vampiress was certainly becoming a force to be reckoned with, she was a shinobi the likes of which he hadn’t seen in… quite some time, not since Kutari himself really. Truly, the potential within this woman was something special, she had the potential to become a true Monster… one that would even give him a run for his money. It was… quite inspiring to see really, and he would ensure that she reached that pinnacle. As the clone rocketed closer he would simply smirk and open his arms to embrace the blow, knowing that at this point anything he tried would be for naught.
As the right hand of the clone tore through his chest he would release a violent shudder, her claws tearing their way right through the left side of his chest, directly through the lung itself, and out of his back. The momentum alone knocked him to the ground with her atop him, and she would quickly manoeuvre herself to pin his arms to the ground with her legs. His Assimilating Aura was still active, so her chains would be disabled, and as she reached for his throat The Ragdoll would act. The Threads within his chest would quickly constrict around her right arm and hold it within his chest, not allowing her to escape, and at the same time threads would tear free from his arms and lock her legs in place. More threads would emerge from his neck, protecting it from her continued assault. The threads, while slower, were stronger than her and would be able to take hold of her arm before she could grab hold of his neck to place her seal.
The Reaper would release a series of wet and bloody coughs to the side, blood and spittle flying as he did so, before he turned to face Mizuki with a truly dark smile, blood staining his pale lips and his teeth.
“You did well Mizuki… very well. This is your win… congratulations.” Kenshin would then say, his voice a little hoarse and strained, but still holding a commanding tone. With that The Reaper would smirk and in an instant his skin would shift, and his chakra would become far more powerful. The next moment he would merge with the earth beneath him, and while one with the earth he would move 5m from both Mizuki and the clone before emerging again, the gaping hole in his chest still visible to all. With a wet chuckle he would activate his Scarlet Spheres passive ability and heal himself, the hole quickly closing before the eyes of Mizuki and her clones. With that done The Ragdoll would force himself into a coughing fit, expelling any blood that still sat within his lung, before chuckling and wiping his lips with his left hand.
“Ohohoho now that was a fun fight, completely one-sided… I can’t recall the last time I have been dominated so thoroughly… in fact, I don’t think it has ever happened. Congratulations again Mizuki… you have truly come a long way. You are a far cry from what you were when you first came to Sunagakure, and I know that you will only continue to grow stronger as time passes.”
With that, The Reaper would move to close the distance between himself and the original Mizuki, before extending a hand to her with a proud smile on his face.

The chain clone, of which the chains she had were being nullified, stared down at her hand that had not simply sunk into him but ripped through him, her hand was covered in black threads but it would have been to late as the seal could be seen stretched out past the point the black threads covered - so it had landed. The arm that was shoved through his was also being held in place by black threads as were her legs - she could have been able to escape, pulled away fast enough but the shock of having driven so much force behind her strike nullified her desire to pull away… and she didn’t feel threat coming from the hold, only a desire to pause her. Pause her long enough for him to cough up blood and give her a dark smile - the clone would furrow her brows in confusion until the words he spoke made sense.
….congratulations? She’d won?
In a second moment she was staring at the solid ground, disbelief on the clones face as she turned her face to stare at the original and giving an incredulous shake of her head before disappearing in a puff - her task completed. The original would stare at the puff of smoke for two heartbeats before turning to watch the form of Kenshin emerging from the ground with a gaping hole through his chest; and finally her mouth would drop open in shock. She had done that… well a clone but who cares about semantics at this point. Was it really done? Had she really done it… no that’s - she would blink, still having said nothing as the remaining clone and the original watched him heal himself and cough up the remaining blood. It was his excited laugh that caught her off guard and put her brain back to normal speed - she had done it.
He was congratulating her, praising her for her growth and it was so surreal to her that she started to laugh along with him - as he moved forward she too would push forward with a smile of her own, as soon as she gripped his extended hand the remaining clone vanished in a final puff of smoke. “I honestly don’t have words… I’m still shocked it's over, thank you for the praise and the belief that I was ready for this. I still have far to go yet of course I’m not fool enough to become cocky. All I know is the version of me who entered this village a year ago doesn’t exist anymore. Thank you Kenshin.” At those last words she would squeeze his hand a little more to show her gratitude.

Kenshin would continue to smile proudly as he shook Mizuki’s hand, his grip as firm as his weakened body would allow, both of his eyes deactivated as he locked eyes with his chosen… with his equal. He viewed everyone within the forces of Sunagakure as his allies… but there had always been something special about Mizuki, she had always been someone that he favoured above others… but there was a reason for that. She was someone that he had chosen from the beginning, at first their relationship was one filled with lust and desire, and it was a fun little game of domination, but he had used that very game to shape her… to pick up the broken pieces of who she was and create someone new… something far stronger and more durable than she was before. The Wraith had severely hindered those plans with his actions in Sunagakure during his little visit, but in the end he had managed to use the damage that his ally had done to his chosen to make her even stronger, to turn her into something he wouldn’t have been able to without his attack. That wasn’t to say he had forgiven the man for it, because he hadn’t… his trust in Kutari had been severely shaken with that… but he couldn’t blame the man either, and truthfully he couldn’t say that he held any true anger towards him anymore. Now… that didn’t mean that Mizuki felt the same way, and truth be told he doubted he would be able to stop a clash from the two from occuring in the future… he wouldn’t try to either, not after what had happened on that fateful night.
“Well… with that, I have a little bit of an announcement to make. Mizuki Kyuketsuki… you are one of my most powerful shinobi, you are one of my Anbu and you are my second in command… there is not a single person in Sunagakure that I trust more than you, not Guren or Ibari, Han or even Lilith… you are the single person that I trust most, and that trust has been earned. I know you care about this village more than most… perhaps even more than I do. You have proven your strength to me today… so I believe this is the perfect time for me to show you just how much faith I have in you Mizuki.” The Ragdoll would say, his eyes locked with hers as he delivered his rather powerful speech, the proud smile on his face only growing wider as he continued to speak. The Reaper, of course, knew that she would immediately take note of the name that he had referred to her by, and as he continued to speak his voice would maintain its tone of pride. He knew that the woman would not be expecting this, and he fully expected her to be somewhat embarrassed by it… and wondering what exactly he was leading up to here, so with his proud smile shifting a little towards a smirk the Ragdoll would kneel before the woman.
“Your orders, Lady Kazekage?”
