A Tavern Full of Drunks

Mission:

Having arrived at Kumogakure earlier that day, Satoru had time to take some weight off his feet and relax at the inn, soaking in a warm bath he briefly reflected on his journey up to now. “So much has changed…” he thought to himself looking down at his incredibly chiselled body. Arching his lower lip in approval, he slowly hopped out of the near boiling water. With the experiments that Satoru was subject to during his childhood, he became quite numb to warm or hot water so in order for him to fully enjoy a bath he had to do so at near boiling temperatures.

Naturally, being a Jugo and with his skin having developed resistance to heat from the experimentation he didn’t get burned or scolded by the bath water. Rising out, he grabbed a towel, quickly drying himself off before slipping into a lightweight attire. A simple set of black shorts, a loose oversized t-shirt that he picked up in Sunagakure that happened to fit him perfectly due to his tall and skinny stature. With that out of the way, he slipped his sandals on, glancing at the clock on his way out of the room. “A few drinks couldn’t hurt.” He thought to himself as he made his way out and down the stairs to the small bar that was situated by the restaurant. Looking around, he couldn’t see either of the two men that he had met earlier. “Perhaps they’re otherwise occupied.” He thought once more, making his way inside, he approached the bar, asking for “Something light to start with. And er… can I open a tab? Room 303.” The bartender nodded a couple of times pouring a small glass of warm sake for the Jugo. With the glass in hand, he surveyed the bustling bar in search of any prominent figures.

"Hm, this must be the place" the Drunk voiced as he stood in front of the tavern after finally having finished his shift. Guard duty could be rather tiresome, all the more reason for Ichigo to take a moment to relax and let off some steam. Not that it had been that long ago, the day before to be precise. But there wasn't a rule that said one couldn't go out for drinks two days in a row and if there was, he sure as hell wouldn't follow it. And as the man himself often liked to claim, he didn't have a drinking problem, except when he couldn't get a drink. Which is why he eventually found himself entering the inn, in search for something refreshing.

Like a bee drawn to a flower the Drunk immediately headed towards the bar, almost as if he possessed a sixth sense when it came to alcohol. It always came natural, his ability to handle liquor. Perhaps that's where the man's talents would be. "Make that two" he said out loud after noticing a familiar face was already sitting there and ordering a beverage. "I see Zento hasn't made it yet, why doesn't that surprise me" Ichigo smiled while placing his hand on Satoru's shoulder as a way of greeting. His sleeveless black robe around his body while the Kumogakure headband covered his right crimson eye, the dojutsu still a secret and unbeknownst to everyone.

Assuming the order of sake arrived Ichigo would gladly accept one of the glasses before speaking up again. "How's your room? Better than traveling around endlessly I take it?" It was only a matter of time until Zento would arrive as well, or so he hoped. In case their companion took longer than expected the Drunk figured a little small talk wouldn't hurt.

Zento was running at full speed. Trying his best to make it to a place with liquor and something good to eat. He looked panicked. Frantically, Zento held up a piece of paper with a stick figure drawing by his own hand to a stranger's face. "HAVE YOU SEEN THIS MAN?!" He said in a deep voice. The stranger giving him an odd look before going back to his task at hand. He kept doing so to anyone he found. Eventually he found his way to a woman with her husband. Asking the same question. The woman creeped out, her husband got from the table and grabbed a sale bottle. Going to bash it into Zentos head. Calling him a pervert. He slapped the bottle away and then reached out to catch it. Nodding for a thanks, Zento ran off and went in search for the people he was suppose to meet up with.

Finding the inninn, Zento kicked the doors open and put his hand up. Catching his breath and holding the bottle up. "I gotgot the liquor" he proudly showed the bottle he stole. A laugh leaving as he pulled up a chair. Seeing what everyone was up to. Ignoring the fact he ran as late as he did

Flashing a toothy smile, the first smile in quite a while Satoru countered the mans request to the bartender. “Lets make that ten for starters.” He was never good at drinking, often only one drink was enough to send him over the edge. It was something that his ship mates joked about throughout their travels, despite drinking from an age of 15 he still hadn’t managed to strengthen his body to the extent where it could handle more than 3 drinks. With the bold order of 10, Satoru was hoping and praying that Zento joined the group sooner rather than later.

The man known as Zento was still yet to be seen. Scanning the bar as the keep prepared the drinks the jugos eyes darted to the black haired male as he felt a palm rest against his shoulder. “Yeah…” he responded in response to the inquiry into Zentos location. “Er… I never did get your name.” he said aloud, glancing over his shoulder at the robed male.

In that moment the keep laid out ten glasses of Sake across the bar for the duo to tackle. Catching a sharp breath, Satoru braced himself, gently picking out one of the cups with a force smile on his face. As he raised the glass, the sound of a loud thud permeated the room, Satoru instinctively turning towards the direction of the sound to find Zento armed with a bottle of liquor. Satoru side glanced at the black haired male in order to understand how best to react in this situation. As Zento approached the majority of the bar laughed and quipped as Zento as he made his way to the bar, pulling up a chair.

Quite quickly, the keep extended a palm out, snatching Zentos bottle from his hands. “You know the rules chief.” Said the keep thumbing to a sign stating ‘ALL ALCOHOL BROUGHT ON SITE’. “You can ‘av it back at the end of the night.” Stated the keep as he made his way around the bar to the next client. Flashing a smile, Satoru pushed a couple of shots of sake towards Zentos direction, “Cheers.” he muttered as he raised the glass to the air before downing the glass in a single swoop.

His face instantly reflected his feeling on the matter of alcohol. The bitter taste didn’t sit well with him, he tried to restrain it but failed miserably and before long everyone would see the 20 odd year old Jugo reacting like a child to a bit of alcohol.

Waiting for both their order and companion to arrive the Drunk placed himself close to the counter, looking around and taking in his surroundings. It seemed to be another one of those nights, many Kumogakure shinobi and civilians alike had gathered in their favorite inn, socializing and blowing off some steam after what had probably been a busy day in the Land of Lightning. And this would be no different for Ichigo. Walking around the village, going from one chore to the other the Drunk kept himself busy so his good friend and Raikage Noboru Kaito could return to a flourishing Kumogakure. Not that he was left in charge but there would still be some sense of responsibility he felt. But those things could be set aside for now as it was time to enjoy the night with good company and friends.

The Drunk would look to the newcomer, still no sight of Zento, formally introducing himself. "Right, the name's Ichigo. Welcome to Kumogakure", raising one of the glasses that finally arrived he chugged one down, the night was young. Finally, with a grand entry it appeared Zento had found his way to the inn, drawing everyone's attention towards him as he made his way in and through the establishment. "Join us, my friend". With a motion of his finger Ichigo informed the owner to keep the drinks coming, by now many would be aware of the Drunk's reputation and talent for drinking so it should come as no surprise many glasses and bottles were going to be emptied that night. "Try to keep up" he encouraged and teased Satoru as he seemed not so used to alcohol as Ichigo. "We'll teach you how to hold your liquor. When in Kumo, go nuts". Chugging down another glass of sake he could already feel the atmosphere picking up.

Hours passed, bottles were emptied and some people failed to keep standing after the amount of alcohol they consumed but Ichigo was still going strong. Only after no more orders arrived was it that the Drunk decided to take his leave and go home to his own collection of liquor. "I'll see you around boys". And off he went.
